What a great find! While dropping my daughter off to college we found this gem. We had deliciousness onion rings for an app. An interesting Caesar salad and a yummy rigatoni for the main course. Top-notch casual dining in Moscow! Every part of our meal was exceptional, from the wine to the salads to the entrees! Many items on the menu sounded good, but I decided on a house salad and the rigatoni and my husband had a Caesar salad and the seafood stew. Our waitress was very quick and professional. A message for the hostess... when the restaurant has only ONE table seated, do not seat the second table (us, in this case) immediately next to them, especially since the tables are about 10-inches apart. The rest of the dining room was empty and you could have made it a little less awkward for the lone-diner at the table next to us. After another 30 minutes, the dining room started filling up and it wasn't so much of an issue but, when it's quiet, give everyone some space! read more

I have a hard time finding places to eat that offer Vegan options especially when I'm with a group of people that are non-vegans. This place was hands down the most accommodating restaurant I have ever been to. We stopped in before a football game on a Saturday. The burger and curly fries were great as was the PLT sandwich. Very disappointing. After traveling over 600 miles to visit with my family for the holidays I looked forward to going to Lodgepole. My daughter had made dinner reservations. When we arrived the host walked us to our table, which turned out to be a kitchen bar table facing a noisy open kitchen. We told him we preferred a regular table. There were at least 4 empty tables nearby. He said they were reserved for other people. He was very rude and unaccomodating. Then he lied and said he tried to call my daughter to tell her about the kitchen bar. Instead of leaving we settled on the kitchen bar table. What a mistake! We couldn't have any nice conversations over a quiet meal. The meal was mediocre at best and not worth the price!!CUSTOMER SERVICE PLEASE!!! read more

This should have been a 5 star review for food, but a 000 star review for service. It was the weirdest service in my entire history of eating out (almost 50 years). We ordered drinks and a cheese board. We waited about 20 minutes and received a beautiful cheese board with 1 butter knife: no silverware, napkins or plates and 3 out of the four drinks we ordered with zero explanation. When I inquired about the fourth drink, she said it would get there soon, again with zero explanation as to why it would be coming later than everyone else's. Approx 5 mins later we received plates. At this point it was SO WEIRD not to have silverware and napkins -we were reduced to using a pocket knife- one of us went in and asked for some. There were zero apologies, but a waitress said she'd send someone out with some. 10 - 15 minutes later after the cheese board was empty (yes, we ate with our fingers and we're a bit desperate for some napkins), we received napkins precisely folded and waited while our server put one knife and one fork into each one, one at a time for each of the four dinner guests. After what seemed like FOREVER, she finished, and we hastily wiped our hands and set our clean silverware on our little, mostly clean plates. At this time we ordered a second app (the deviled pickled eggs) because the first app was so good. About 10 minutes later, she brought out a gorgeous salad with an artisan garlic bread that was divine (only 1 of us had ordered salad, but we all had drinks and we're still waiting on the second app of deviled pickled eggs. Promptly after our diner finished his salad, the waitress came out and took our clean salad forks (except the one dirty salad fork) and replaced them, 1 at a time, with dinner forks, she seemed irritated that we had put our silverware on our our app plates (having previously moved napkins to laps), and she plopped our clean silverware directly on the outdoor lawn table. Dinner finally arrived at which point we asked about the deviled egg appetizer. She acted like she had never heard of it but came back with it immediately, so it had obviously been ready and waiting. The eggs were delightful, and the dinner was just as tasty as everything else though at this point it became obvious that the lawn type chairs were very inconvenient for eating (low set and lounging away from the table). What to say? The food was great! The service was strange, slow, and completely unnecessarily fussy. Restaurants like these make you LONG for gratuity options (this is a gratuity free restaurant) because the food FAR outstripped the service. SERIOUSLY WEIRD SERVICE. read more

Fresh made gnocchi and pappardelle were excellent. seasonal salad with beets and jicama was fresh and flavorful. Great wine recommendations. I don't understand complaints about tip being included. My husband were looking for something new and different and this place met that bill with class and GREAT FOOD!! Oh and did I say GREAT FOOD my husband did the 5 course which was fabulous and of course he shared (lol), and I had the bites fried amazing as well- for an appetizer we did the smoke salmon which normally I don't - but glad I did the whole dish compliment itself - and don't let me forget to tell you about how AMAZING and AWESOME JESSE our server was reminded of Las Vegas, not kidding with country charm- I definetly plan on going back, have my eye on some of those other appetizer. read more

My wife and I were in here a couple weeks ago, along with some family that came to visit. We had the most incredible experience, from the minute we walked in the door. By far the best ribeye that I have ever had in my life! They have so many fun and unique menu options to choose from. From appetizers, to entrees AND desserts! We all ordered different dishes and not one bite didn't completely satisfy each and every one of us. They have some excellent beer options on tap, and my wife and her parents loved the wine selection as well. We will most definitely be back here!! We would also like to thank our server Bret for being so hospitable to us! He was able to answer every question that we had and did it with a smile the entire time. We even had the door held open for us as we left. All in all one of the best experiences we have ever had, and we are constantly traveling and experiencing different places and cuisines! Lovely. Food is delicious. My husband had the ribeye and I had the fried chicken. Both were perfect. I highly recommed the fried chicken. A unique preparation that results in a comfort meal that is elegant and so delicious! Raw oysters were very fresh and I had a bubbly drink with honey, lemon, and muddled herbs that was also very good. Staff is friendly....every last one of them. My only issue...there needs to be some reconciling between service and gratuity included prices. Definitely some communication issues between staff. Several people waited on us which is fine, and the manager had his hands full with several big parties. Totally get that, I don't mind variety. That's being said, getting refill on a glass of wine took at least 10 minutes - twice - and we had to remind them each time. At one point I had to go to the bar to inquire - the server who took our order was standing nearby taking care of silverware and napkins while we waited. Again, communication may be the issue, but I am of the opinion that if your gratuity is included in the prices it never reflects in service. You are paying the tip ahead, so good service is in essence - guaranteed. Maybe it was just a busy night, maybe staff was new...for now it won't affect our return. My girlfriend and I braved the snow and came here from Pullman for our anniversary/Christmas dinner after liking what we saw in terms of menu, inebriating libations, ambiance, and reviews online. When we got there, someone came and took our coats for us and sat us at our table. Usual restaurant stuff. However, our waiter Tanner was what made us have a very negative experience, while we were dining at least. When he came up to the table to first greet us he was rather pleasant, however after that he was very sour. We had a 9 o'clock reservation, partially because we were excited to try their happy hour menu (Happy hour lasts from 9-10pm). We had been sat down a little before 9, which was totally fine by us. When we asked for a happy hour menu, he said "it isn't 9 yet so I can't." It was 8:53. From there, he seemed to almost disapprove and judge us of our choices, even asking my girlfriend when she ordered a London Fog if "she even knew what that was." I don't know if he didn't "like our vibe" or what, but he didn't seem like he enjoyed being there that night. Whenever I would look around I would see a very surely expression on his face, regardless of where or at whom he was looking. In terms of food and beverage, I was decently impressed. Their lemonade is great and has an awesome honey finish. The London Fog was great as well. For appetizers, my girlfriend took advantage of their happy hour $1/oyster special and got 5. The one I had tasted great and had that salty "fresh from the sea" taste despite it being served a long way away from the nearest body of saltwater. I had the "Loaded Fries." They were good, but kind of underwhelming. There were pickled onions, a little bit of Cougar Gold Cheese, and what looked like very tiny onion (maybe chive?) circles/slices. I would had hoped for more, as well as for some bacon. In my opinion I would say they were underloaded fries, but this could easily be changed by putting more stuff on them. Other than that, they tasted good. For dinner, the misses got the smoked salmon pasta and I the Lodgepole burger. Everything tasted great; the bite of hers I had was good as well (salmon was a little too smoky for me though). As for the burger, the flavor was great but there was a little too much pink for my liking. My girlfriend, however having had a lot of culinary experience, assured me it was fine. Fast forward to today, both of us feel like we have food poisoning and am now spraying last night's meal into my lavatory as I write this. Recommendations: Give Tanner a happy pill or else give them a position where they aren't front of the house Cook the meat more, and otherwise follow good food safety practices better. 1 oyster shouldn't have me spraying in the bathroom the next day. Had it had just been Tanner's bad attitude I would have probably given it 2-3 stars. What made me give it one star is the fact that I spent $30 and wound up in gastric discomfort the next day. **The food is/tastes good, it just made my stomach (very) upset** read more

I came here with my best friend and our moms during moms weekend and we were all very impressed! The service was excellent and all the servers we came in contact with were very friendly. Everything on the menu sounded so delicious we all had a hard time deciding what to order, I ordered the cheeseburger mac n cheese which was soo sooo good, and that wasn't even the best part of the dining experience. BY FAR the best and most memorable part from my visit to Lodgepole was the cheese plate. Still to this day, months later I dream about eating this cheese plate again. The cheeses offered were different from a boring brie or smoked gouda. They served both unique and delicious cheeses with perfectly paired crackers and an assortment of pickled veggies. If you are someone who appreciates fine cheeses and a dining experience unique to other restaurants in the pullman/moscow area I would HIGHLY recommend this place. read more

3.5 stars - I've been going to Lodgepole since opening night and can say I've seen the gradual progression of this restaurant getting better every time. The first couple of times, there was a serious lack of seasonings, primarily salt and pepper on almost all the dishes. The deviled eggs are not the most appetizing looking, but are very tasty. The house made pepper jelly w/ crostini and cream cheese was also very good. Fried pickles are hit or miss. Some nights they will have the batter falling off and others it will be crispy goodness around the sweet pickle chips. Coconut shrimp is not worth the price point, landing you five overdone glazed shrimp for $12 with some toasted coconut flakes on the plate. The steak bites were also hit or miss. One night we asked for med-rare and every single piece hit all of the temperature ranges from rare to well done. And the horseradish in the coleslaw is almost never present. They might as well call it regular coleslaw. Braised pork tostadas were nothing to write home about and could have used salt and pepper or a spicy component to kick it up a notch above what you'd get at a fast food joint. The Caesar was a hit with the garlic butter toast. I've wanted to get the burger but the last two times were disappointing dishes to the company I was with. Finally, the Pan Roasted Chicken with Mexican spice glaze, mashed potatoes & sauteed green beans is by far the best dish I've had here. This dish was perfectly seasoned and cooked all the way around. They do have a five course menu if you want to splurge a bit and I've already seen it change once. The décor is inviting in this small, new building. There are only a few tables outside in this huge area which is unfortunate as they seem to be the best place to eat right now while it's warm. Service is usually pretty good. If this restaurant continues to progress as I have seen it in the last month, it will definitely be a destination restaurant in Moscow but they still have to work on the small details to get there. read more

I've been to Lodgepole quite a few times and for the most part I have had a positive experience. However, what resulted in me reviewing them with one star was that over a year ago I made reservations ahead of time while my family was visiting for the holidays and they sat us at the kitchen counter instead of a table because we "were a party of 3" and even after politely asking for a table they refused to seat us at one even though a hand full of tables were still empty. It was a terrible experience because of the noisy kitchen and heat, not to mention the kitchen manager who said "service please" every 3 minutes when an order was up. I travel frequently and have been to nicer restaurants than this one and they would never seat us at a counter without our consent. read more

Frankly, I'm not a fan of the "gratuity free" restaurant. What this basically means is that they can deliver your drinks and food and then never reappear to see if you liked.......well, anything that you've paid for. In my opinion a young, novice staff who makes great food but has poor service. So look past that......order an entire bottle of wine because the choices for "by the glass" are NOT good. Have been here three times now. The food here is simply amazing, so delicious!! Food we really enjoyed included: corn chowder, seafood dishes, steak, to-die-for mashed potatoes. The service was not as good as I would have hoped but I was very impressed that the owner/chef said he would follow-up about that with his staff - that's great leadership. I hope they listen and realize what a difference they can make for the guest experience and for the overall success of the establishment. If waitstaff ups their game, I'd say this is one of the best restaurants in the Palouse! read more
