I discovered this place a few weeks ago when my boyfriend and I were actually heading toward the Coffee Bean after our trip to the farmers market. But while passing by this place I changed my mind and decided to stop here instead, and I'm soooo glad I did! The coffee here is absolutely amazing. Tastes way better than Starbucks or Coffee Bean. On top of that, their service is always very friendly. My personal favorite is the salted caramel. I wish they had as many locations as Starbucks so I could have it every day, since I don't live near their Encinitas or Solana Beach locations. But it is definitely my post farmers market coffee spot every Sunday now. read more

I was in town and needed a coffee fix. I stopped by and they had a line! Definitely worth the wait. The customer service was great and my questions were answered, I even got to try the cold brew which is what they're known for. I prefer espresso drinks so the barista recommended and iced americano which i ended up ordering! Did not disappoint! You can really taste the notes of the espresso, which was beautifully drawn. Beautiful cafe in a beautiful street! Happened to stop by this cafe for a quick cup of coffee and loved what I ordered- the Aztec Mocha. I wasn't sure of the other items on the menu but I believe "when in doubt, always go with a mocha!" and you can never go wrong. It had a strong taste of cinnamon and felt amazing and soothing to the throat. My friends had the Ethiopian blend and Kyoto over ice. While the former was pretty good, the latter was decent but it was just ice and not Tonic water as served in many other cafes. The Turkish Latte with cardamom is really the best thing on the menu. I love that they have all organic coffee and food and wish there were more locations! This specific location is great because it's located on Cedros so it's nice to walk around to the local shops. Convenient little parking lot and ample street parking. read more

Open air seating, amazing coffee with fun seasonal offerings, lots of gluten free and dairy free options as well for food and drinks. Love their fresh juices as well. I miss the old Zinc, but to Lofty's credit not much has changed. The food offering is perhaps more extensive but the service and space is the same. The coffee is excellent!! And the toast is decent. I havent tried anything other than cappucinos and toast and chilling on the patio. But really I am not fancy and this is perfect for me. I like the free parking lot next door and the little benches just out front if you're waiting on your friends to arrive! The prices are a little steep but it is Cedros so to be expected. Being a fan of the Encinitas location, I was pretty excited when I learned another location was opening up! This location definitely trumps the Encinitas location in many ways for me--a better array of outdoor seating, less lines, quieter street, and is a great place to linger. I am very excited that Lofty is expanding because I have always loved their coffee and food. I have been at the Solana Beach location about a dozen times since opening and each time I have had the same experience. First the only negative which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, the wait times are always ridiculous. 1 register just isn't doing it for the number of people that love going to this place! So when you go, prepare to wait a little. Now to all the positives. I think their coffee is one of if not the best purchased coffee and lattes in north county. I always go for the Turkish Latte with Almond Milk. Always made with just the right about of cumin and sweet. I could drink 3 of them. For breakfast I normally get 2 poached eggs, tomatoes, avocados with gluten free bread. I think it's a very healthy and decent size meal. The prices are defiantly premium. You will spend 20-30% more here than other places. But honestly the value is there for me so I don't mind. Definitely a treat on a weekend morning. Highly recommend trying it out! read more

Lofty has good customer service and a good atmosphere. Every drink I have tried at lofty has been quite good, except the iced lattes. I've been to Lofty a handful of times and this location has definitely always been a HUGE hit! Being a local hot spot, there's always a line. Generally it moves quickly, but any weekend, prepare to wait! I've only tried their espresso, but breakfast/brunch seem to be favorites. They don't have a large offering of items, but plenty for quick bites or baked goods along with java. My last visit, I tried the Turkish latte and thought it was good but have never really tried Cardamom so wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy the "spice' aspect of it. For what it was, I thought it was tasty but I likely wouldn't order it again primarily b/c I'm probably not a huge Cardamom fan, at least in this mix. I've noticed with some of these specialty shops, the coffee/espresso is not as hot as I'd like. Perhaps these shops are making the coffee less hot to avoid burning, but I still want it hot where I'd hafta possibly wait a couple minutes before I can take a full sip rather than having it be cold within 10 minutes. This is the 2nd location I've been to, the other being in Encinitas. I've been told they just opened a 3rd in Little Italy, San Diego. Seating is pretty open and primarily outdoors with about 12 tables accommodating parties of 2-4 mainly. Larger groups will likely have a bit more struggle finding optimal seating. Parking is likely dependent on time of day but there's street parking all around Cedros. Prices average what most independent coffee shops charge and service is ok but it's never been outstanding. I feel the staff generally are a bit stand offish, which makes me less inclined to come here if it wasn't for wanting to support local shops. A good option if you're in the area, but wouldn't be my first choice given the competition, options and service I could receive elsewhere. read more
