We were very disappointed in our to-go dinners. We ordered the Sunday special of chicken and ribs with 2 sides for each meal. Sadly, there were problems with every item. The 3 chicken pieces, (breast, leg, wing) were extremely small and greasy, lots of coating. Thought we were getting broasted chicken, but it was not broasted. The ribs were not meaty at all and they were topped with a cheap, bottle type bbq sauce. The sides were actually worse. Two sides were included with each dinner. The chili was basically a can of kidney beans. However,there was a small container of sour cream in our to-go bag. But there was no grated cheese, onions, or toppings. I ordered the barley soup, but received a small serving of beef broth! Had to toss it, it was not soup, it was similar to a light gravy. The other sides were problems too. The tossed salad had brown leaves. The broasted potato was hard to figure out, much less eat. At first, my spouse thought it was a sweet potato. Well, after a bite disguarded it. The potato seemed more like a day old baked potato that was fried or perhaps it was a breakfast leftover. A minor detail- Even the cutlery was wrong. One set was fine, the other was a spork with a small straw in the prepacked bag. Other times, we have had fantastic meals at Log Cabin, even if it was busy. Today at 1pm, there were few people in the restaurant or doing pick-ups. Perhaps this was just one of those days/situations. We really enjoy this restaurant. We have gone here for years and always get good food and plenty to eat. They are also very friendly.

This is my new favorite restaurant! Just moved back to Wisconsin, manitowoc area, and began trying out all the pubs and restaurants. Although this is about a 20-30 minute drive, it has become my hubby's and my favorite! The staff is super nice and helpful, all the food is homemade including desserts, soups, slaw, etc.. The fish is excellent, fried to perfection and not too heavily battered like 'long john silvers' is. The cocktails are good and the price is very reasonable. The ambiance is also good, management must be good because the staff seems happy to be there! Just read Mary K.s review, people don't get fired for nothing. She's a server, right? Her managers have been the same for at least half of those '10 years', right? So she did something really bad, or she's lying to you. You don't give 1 star for that anyway. That doesn't help out potential diners looking for good food! This place DEFINITELY has great food! Great prices, great atmosphere, and yes, great staff AND management. I've talked with the manager a number of times. He's out and about, washing dishes, serving at the bar (that's the first time I met him) picking up dishes, etc.. So he seems to be a real hands on team player. And they're heavily staffed, so he must be doing it because that's who he is, not because he HAS to! I guess they've improved their staffing since February, they have a ton of staff on Friday and Saturday nights- when I've been there! Go there, eat, drink and be merry! Then drive safely! I'm not sure if I would go out of my way to eat here, but we enjoyed our meals. If you're in the area, go for it. The atmosphere is spacious. Our meals were generous. My husband tried the Elk Steak Burger, and while it wasn't my cup of tea, he enjoyed it. I had the Broiled Cod dinner, and couldn't finish all the food the came with it. Prices were very reasonable, and service was attentive. It's a little far away from home for us, but when our regular breakfast destination was closed, we were glad that this place was a nice nearby backup. read more

6-26-2020 Horrible confused group of waiters and managers. Walked out with no food. We phoned in an order and they told us to come in 20 minutes to pick it up. We get there 25 minutes later and the waitress said our order should be right up. I noticed she was scrambling through the order slips and ran one into the kitchen right after I told her. 10 minutes later a different waitress if I had been helped. I said yes, I'm waiting for my phoned in order. Lot of people picking up their orders while wait another 20 minutes and I asked what the status of our orders is, The waitress asked if my order split for a Judy L. I said no. It was under Judy. She tells me that a Judy came in and picked up an order. The other waitress alongside her gave her a dirty look. I said 'you gave our order to someone else?'. She looked puzzled. I repeated what we ordered and she said she didn't know what happen to our order. It was know 55 minutes after the order was placed and I had been standing there 25 minutes waiting. She said she would re-enter the 'takeout order' and I said no. She gave our take order to someone else, the place was not busy and packed under poor pandemic distancing and practices. I told them I was real disappointed in how they handled our order and that I was going to walk out. The place was good at one time and it has really gone down hill. The time before we ate in before the pandemic and they gave us another tables order and had to apologize for it. Lot of skrew-ups with orders and horrible customer service. Went there one Sunday morning for breakfast. Arrived at 10:30 and was told breakfast was being served until 11 o'clock. Was given a number and told that it would be a "short wait". When our number was called at 10:45 we were told they were no longer serving breakfast but that we could still eat off the breakfast buffet. We don't care for the buffet because of the limited selection and it's not kept well-stocked. We turned in our number and left , very disappointed. read more

Went here this morning for the first time since the new ownership. I always thought Schonemanns should have offered breakfast too but they never did. Anyway, it wasn't full when we got there but close. There were only two waitresses and one guy doing bussing. They were running trying to keep up with everything from seating people to cashiering. We were seated within about five minutes. We got water and coffee cups but it took a long time to get coffee. Then it took a long time to get our order taken, only after saying something to the waitress. For the amount of people in there,they were short one body on the floor for sure. Maybe someone called in sick? Anyway, it took a good twenty to twenty-five minutes to get our food,which the cook brought to our table. By this time things were thinning out. I ordered one of the skillets and my wife had the Jill something with their cheesy potato casserole. I had the "cabin cubes" for the potato option which are seasoned cubes that are deep fried. The "casserole" was a slab as big as a large Walleye fillet that consisted of shredded potatoes and a lot of cheese sauce. No normal person can eat all of that and the rest of their food just because they are so dense and filling. A lot of patrons were taking leftovers home. This shouldn't happen with breakfast in my view. I finished my skillet and now three hours later,we both feel like we ate a truck. Over all it wasn't the worse but not the best. Prices are reasonable. Service needs to improve. Glad we had nowhere to be, we'd have been late. Will try something lighter next time for sure. read more

Had lunch there today. Food was great, Waitress was attentive but not over bearing. Lots of food choices and the decor is awesome!

When arriving at the Log Cabin no one was at the counter to greet the two of us. We waited quite a while before one of the waitresses gave us a #. There were just a few people ahead of us waiting and quite a few arrived after we did. There were 3 empty tables, but no one was being seated even though they were cleared off. We were finally seated, but we were not attended to until other tables who were seated after us had their drink orders taken and delivered. Some of those people had their first course before our order was taken. It was over an hour before we received our food. I was surprised to see that the new owners no longer have a page in the menu that lists the gluten-free options.The old GF menu was created by someone who had personal experience with celiac disease and it was very convenient to be able to look over one page and see what my options were. Strangely, the new menus have an explanation ON THE LAST PAGE telling diners that GF options are marked with GF. The problem is the GF notation is the same color as the ink used to describe the menu options and is very small and hard to notice. Beware that some of the previous GF options are no longer marked GF. Gluten-free buns are available for sandwiches/burgers, but because there is no GF symbol next to these, I was not sure which ones were safe to order. Perhaps the most disturbing part is that one side is included when ordering a sandwich or burger, but NONE of the sides were marked GF. I ordered a salad and the waiter didn't know if the salad dressings were GF. He checked with the kitchen staff and only one, raspberry vinegarette, was GF. I ordered a cheeseburger with fried onions and it came with raw onions. My husband had the special, a turkey leg dinner. He's not a picky eater, but he said it was not good. I was finished with my salad and all but one bite of my burger when the waiter finally came to ask how our meals were. We each had a glass of water and it came with NO ice in it. Our glasses were empty, but we were never offered a refill. Some of the customers were so loud that it was not possible for the two of us to visit while waiting for our meal. We did express our concern to a very pleasant waitress before leaving and we were told that the young man who waited on us was new, but that does not explain the changes made to the GF menu that are not for the better. The waitress eluded to the fact that the staff perhaps does not receive adequate training to address the needs of the celiac community. GF diners beware! If your goal is to have a nice, quiet dinner, outstanding service, and clear, safe GF dining choices, especially if you are newly diagnosed, you may want to wait until the new owners provide adequate training to their staff and make some changes to their menu. read more
