The restaurant has a huge, beautiful space overlooking the water. I did go here for the $1 oyster though and was a tad disappointed. The oysters were bland... they were soft, the consistency is there but somehow tasteless. Everything else were flavorful!

My mom's favorite spot so you know we gotta give it a 5/5. Cool view by the water despite the weather. Service was attentive and food was solid.

Beautiful venue right by the water. The inside is spacious and can accommodate a ton of people, all while enjoying a gorgeous view of the city. The food wasn't mind-blowing, but it was definitely tasty. We shared a cucumber squash salad to start, which was creamy and flavorful. For entrées, our table ordered the omelette, shakshuka, lamb burger, and the short ribs with hash. All were solid dishes with generous portions, and the prices felt reasonable. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and finished with the dark chocolate pistachio tart and the crème caramel. The tart had mascarpone, so it gave tiramisu vibes but in a tart shell--basically a deluxe chocolate Dubai and so delicious. The crème caramel was thicker and denser than usual with a strong orange note, also delicious! Overall, I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area again--maybe this time for just drinks to catch the night view.

Gorgeous views of NYC lower Manhattan/one world trade, right on the water. Ambiance was nice, the staff was great- everyone friendly and helpful. The food was good, we went for brunch. There was nothing on the menu that really set them apart from any other restaurant selling brunch. My friends got shakshuka and salmon with eggs Benedict, there were no complaints. I ordered the chicken and waffles. The chicken was amazing- crispy and flavorful, but the whole meal came pre-dressed without any extra butter or syrup. The waffles were mostly dry and no crisp exterior, a little chewy and limp. We also opted for the mimosa flight which was delicious- especially the kiwi flavor! It's a bummer it can't be ordered on its own.

It's got a great view and okay food! We sat on their outside-inside patio. They made a point about telling us it's the patio but it's not open air. You can get a view and you're in covered indoors. At least it won't be cold! We got their starter of sweet and savory breads and that was a winner. Not sure what am the stuff was but there was this croissant like item that was both sweet and salty. We had the waffles and chicken, and the shakshuka. Waffle dish was just fine, but the shakshuka was rather disappointing. It seemed like they just dumped canned tomatoes, big lumps of it. Not a whole lot of cooking or stewing, not spiced much either. We had the cake dessert and that was good. Food wise, it was okay. Nothing to rave about. But good enough to hang out for casual brunch riverside with a view. Service was okay. Polite server. That were very quick to fill waters but not the coffee!

We were at Lokal for Sunday Lunch on Father's Day, and also to celebrate our friend's birthday. We made reservation a day before to ensure our spot. Upon arriving at our reserved time, we were taken to our table within minutes. I liked the modern aesthetics of the restaurant, very slick and cool furnitures and decors. There was a huge bar too. The restaurant has a clear view of the Hudson and NYC harbor. I started off Allen Katz without the vodka, was a fantastic drink. We got 3 each of East coast and West coast oysters. East were much bugger than west ones. Both were decent and tasted similar to me. For entree I got the lamb burger. The burger itself was pretty good but the salad that came with it was horrible. Seemed like someone just picked the leaves from garden and put them on the plate. No seasoning, no dressing at all. I also got to try the waffle chicken, where chicken was over fried and waffle was too soft and soggy. The overall service was fine. The staff wished me for father's day when we started our lunch. The food came out within short time. I really liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, just wish the food quality was better, especially when the prices are so high for each of them.

Lokal is at waterfront area in Jersey City. Contemporary design and modern vibes. However the service definitely falls short in this place. When we called to make reservation and requested no high top tables because of a toddler, they said: it's first come first serve, we cannot guarantee anything. But isn't that the point of making the reservation? So we can have a regular table due to our situation? Why if wheelchair customers make reservations? When we arrived, of course they gave us a high top table. I plainly said, you guys will have to take the responsibility if something happened to the toddler. Ordering food was no issue but I had to remind them to bring out the kid's meal first. The food was actually decent. I liked the brunch burger. Meat was cooked beautifully and buns were buttery/fluffy. The entire service, the kept reaching over the table to clean plates. One server asked my friend if she needed more water, she said yes and the server literally passed the water bottle to her to fill it up. I really want to like this restaurant because it's nice and clean and food is good. But I cannot get past the service part.

Met a couple of friends for dinner at Lokal whilst in Jersey City. Although it wasn't busy due to it being both a Monday late afternoon and snow on the ground, pleasantly welcomed and shown to the table where a friend was already waiting. Later in the evening it started to fill up quite a bit. The decorations and overall atmosphere was very modern and appealing. However sometimes service was a little slow even with hardly anyone there. It took several attempts to get the servers attention as it appeared she was more interested in catching up with the manager on duty than serving tables. However we ordered some happy hour appetizers/ tapas and a flat bread all of which was very tasty. So I would go back to try some of the main course dishes next time. One of my friends frequents this place and tells me that in the summer the sliding doors are open and the terrace is a great place to soak up the view of the NYC skyline.

Nice place, excellent service. A group of us had a dinner meeting tonight and chose Lokal. The drinks were fantastic. Dinner was good. We were there during happy hour, so I enjoyed the oysters. I ordered the lamb bites and the octopus carpaccio. The lamb bites were just okay, like little meatballs. The octopus carpaccio was shaved extremely thin and was nicely done. It was a nice night with colleagues. We ended the evening with cappuccino and the chocolate box.

Very busy place with great water views! Tried a couple craft cocktails and they were pretty tasty but $23 a piece. The bartender had zero personality but maybe he was just busy. I would probably go and have a meal and a drink next time and avoid the bar altogether. The bar just had a weird vibe. Give a go for yourself the views are amazing!

The Chicken Skewers, Crispy Brussel Sprouts, and Tempura Calamari were delicious. Plus, the beautiful view of Manhattan made it a great spot for happy hour.

Lokal used to be my go-to spot for a great happy hour, but since they've changed chefs and updated their menus, it's just not the same anymore. Beautiful view and ambiance overlooking the Hudson River. Drink: Riesling, sweet with a dry finish. 3 for 30 (updated to 3 for $35) Food: Brussel sprouts, calamari & papas bravas Brussels sprouts were acceptable, but they were essentially just salty Brussels flakes, Calamari was super fresh and the star of the show, Papas bravas was delicious, but it was just potatoes with chili sauce.

I'm very sensitive to salt and am known for undersalting my own cooking, so I rarely think food is under-seasoned. But it genuinely felt like no salt was used in the kitchen here. We came for my birthday, and my partner only selected "birthday" on the reservation because the reservation app specifically asked whether we were celebrating an occasion. We were not requesting a birthday dessert or any special treatment. Then, when we arrived, our server asked if we were celebrating anything, and we simply answered, "Yes." A little later, the server brought out a scoop of ice cream that we never ordered, requested, or even hinted that we wanted. To our surprise, we were then charged $12 for it. At no point did anyone mention that the dessert was an item we would be paying for. Had we known it wasn't complimentary, we never would have indicated it was my birthday on the reservation or answered the server's question. We didn't even eat the ice cream because we hadn't wanted dessert in the first place. Rather than make a scene, we paid the charge, but it left a very negative impression. It's frustrating to be billed for something you never ordered, especially when the only reason your birthday was mentioned at all was because the reservation app and the server asked. A birthday shouldn't result in an unexpected charge for an unsolicited dessert.

She was warm during our initial tour, but once the contract was signed, communication became inconsistent and every conversation felt combative and unnecessarily rude. From the beginning, our timeline was a 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM open bar, using the Triplex until 11:00 PM and the Speakeasy from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM, which we'd rented for an additional $2,500. It was the timeline we developed with 632's own preferred caterer, and everything else, including catering, music, late-night food, and vendor schedules, was built around it. Then, less than a month before the wedding, Karen said she had decided she wasn't okay with eight hours of bar service anymore. Nothing had changed except her mind. We were suddenly forced to either cut cocktails during cocktail hour or shorten our after-party, despite already paying for both. We tried to find a compromise. Every suggestion was shut down. In the end, we spent thousands more booking a separate after-party venue, while also eating the cost of vendors like our DJ and photographer, whose hours had already been scheduled and paid for based on the original timeline. By the end of it all, we were so mentally drained that we didn't even do our rehearsal at the venue because we couldn't deal with another interaction. Then it took seven weeks and multiple follow-up emails just to get our security deposit back. If you value being treated with respect during one of the most important events of your life, look elsewhere. The venue is gorgeous. The owner is not someone you want to deal with.

The owner of this venue made our wedding planning experience an absolute nightmare. These are just…read morea few of the many issues we dealt with throughout the process. Just 26 days before our wedding, after 11 months of planning around a 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM open bar, Karen (the owner/operator) told us she was no longer okay with the timeline she'd known about from the very beginning. There wasn't a licensing issue or a staffing issue. She simply decided that eight hours of bar service was "too much." We suddenly had to choose between serving cocktails during cocktail hour or having drinks at our after-party, even though we'd already paid $2,500 for the Speakeasy specifically for that purpose. We even offered to cancel the Speakeasy and either receive a refund or apply the $2,500 toward our bar package. Instead of having a reasonable conversation, Karen threatened to get her lawyers involved. From there, we were left scrambling to find another after-party venue less than a month before the wedding, while still paying for vendors like our DJ and photographer whose schedules had already been built around the original timeline. There was no way to recover those costs. One last-minute decision ended up costing us thousands of dollars. Another moment that perfectly sums up what it was like working with Karen happened the night before our wedding. We had requested Bud Light be added to our beverage package a full year earlier, and it had already been approved, invoiced, and paid for. Then, while we were at our rehearsal dinner, Karen emailed saying she had misquoted the price and that we now owed $200 immediately instead of the $45 we'd already paid, or the beer would be returned. It wasn't about the $200. It was the timing. Who creates a last-minute issue the night before someone's wedding over something that had been settled weeks earlier? And frankly, $200 for two cases of Bud Light is ridiculous. The building is beautiful. But if we had the chance to do it all over again, we'd choose a different venue without hesitation.
