The food was fresh, delicious and came out fast. They were also very accommodating to our dietary requirements. It wasn't busy but we did feel a little rushed by our waitress. Lola's was a great experience overall! I ordered the étouffée, and the flavor was excellent. My only small criticism is that the rice was a bit undercooked and crunchy in a few spots, but it didn't take away from the meal. The Hurricane cocktail is a must-try, and you don't want to leave without ordering the beignets --they were outstanding. The real highlight of our visit, though, was our waitress, Shelby. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what she does. That level of hospitality made a real difference and elevated the entire experience. We'll definitely be back! read more

My family visited this restaurant on our last night on our trip to SC. We have been to SC multiple times before, but never have we experienced a Cajun restaurant like this outside of Louisiana. This place felt straight out of New Orleans. My husband and I have spent a few trips there, so we can judge the food in comparison to some of the top dishes in that city. My husband ordered the charbroiled oysters, while good, they didn't match up to the ones we have had in NOLA. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, and they were great. LoLA in Mount Pleasant, SC is consistently good. The staff greets you with a smile. The atmosphere is always pretty chill. There a numerous gluten free options and the staff always is knowledgeable about celiac and gluten in intolerance. Furthermore, the employees always treat us well and are kind; and completely care about cross-contamination. I always feel comfortable eating at the North Charleston, SC location amd the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. location. The only downside is Mt. Pleasant's location lack of a dedicated fryer; however, the North Charleston location has a dedicated fryer. :) read more

My wife and I are from Louisiana and this is the place we go when we miss home! Everything we have had from the menu has been delicious and tastes quite authentic as well! This is a decent place with a great menu. Food was 50-50. The Shrimp & Grits $24 were the best we ever had, and we have had some of the best. The Shrimp Etouffee was dry and far the best I have had. Both served with a great piece of the best corn bread. The decor is an attempt to look like a New Orleans restaurant. The food and service were excellent. I got the duck fries to start which had seasoned fries topped with duck confit, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, and fried jalapeños. Then for my entree I went with the shrimp and grits it was very plentiful of shrimp and the mushroom sauce on it was delicious. Note to self. Make reservations for the Fourth of July. I thought everyone would be at the beach so thought a late lunch would be easy peasy. I had a craving ( really an addiction) for fried oysters and I knew this was a new place in Mount Pleasant and since I am new as well, gave it a shot. Every single employee we came in contact with was cheerful and so accommodating. They were booked solid and the bar was also full with people standing. We decided to wait for a bit. We watched them turn away loads of folks. No openings until 7:30 and the closed at 8 pm that day. Long story short, they gave us a table if we promised to be out in an hour. Done! I asked for the fried oysters to be lightly fried because I had seen pics of them here and I was afraid they would be hard. My husband asked for the same. They did not comply with that but I will say that the oysters were delicious and so juicy with great Cajun flavors. I could just have wine and a plate of those bad boys and call it a day. They do go a bit overboard on the same seasoning in EVERY dish. The fries, the corn and the shrimp all have the same spices. The fried shrimp were unusually greasy but the oysters were not. I did see some fish tacos going by as we ate and I'd definitely give them a shot! Server was great! This is a small place with some outdoor seating. Make a reservation if you want to be seated inside. Oh, a lady next to me asked about the praline cornbread. If you like a piece of cake with your dinner, go for it. I do not. Lola was a hit with our entire family! We started with the praline pecan cornbread, and it was absolutely incredible--sweet, savory, and unlike anything we've had before. Our kids were thrilled with their meals, giving the chicken bites and buttered noodles a perfect 10/10. For the main course, I ordered the shrimp étouffée while my wife had the shrimp creole. Both dishes were outstanding, packed with flavor, and exactly what we were hoping for from a great Cajun meal. A relatively newer restaurant in the Mount Pleasant area next to Joey tomatoes. As you may have seen elsewhere, the name of the place represents the cuisine, which is a mix of low country, southern influence with New Orleans style dishes. They have gumbo, rice, grits, and so on. My family and I liked it so much that we went twice in one week. We actually very much enjoyed the vegetarian meal more than we even thought we would and ordered it a second time. Now some dishes do come with cornbread - let me tell you that is not enough. One bite and you will wish you had so much more. I have never had cornbread like this that honestly tastes almost like a cake? It is so delicious! Great on its own and great to sop up the flavors of other dishes. And don't get me started on the fried flounder taco. Wow. That may be the dish I recommend the most! Service is quick and friendly. Ambience is nice. The few times I have been there. They are still in Mardi Gras theme. That may be permanent given the New Orleans influence. Dining inside is intimate, there are booths and tables. There is also a bar that seats about 8 to 10 people. Sorry folks at LoLa. Really want to love your place. Have tried a few times and my experience seems to get worse instead of better. Most recent visit: had the traditional jambalaya. If you've had great versions of this is NOLA, you know this was way off. This was 90% rice with lots of onions. The chicken was missing. There were maybe 5 small shrimp on top. The gator bites were 2/3 fried batter and very small gator meat inside. They sat our party of 6 at a booth where those on the end were not fully comfortable and the booth was falling apart at the edge. This place is always very noisy - some may like that vibe but hard for a larger party to talk with everyone. read more

Every.Single.Thing. On the menu was wonderful! I loved that it wasn't the flashy touristy restaurants like Shem creek but a really great local vibe. 1st time visiting this location. They are just as friendly as the Park Circle location. This one has more space inside. I only had the Boudin Balls, but it was just as good. It was happy hour time, so I had a pineapple margarita, which was one of their seasonal cocktails on happy hour. read more
