We came in to celebrate Fat Tuesday and the place was packed at 4:30. I got a dozen oysters for an appetizer which were good. For the entree, I ordered off of the Happy Hour menu (4-6). There are some great deals on here. I settled with the Jambalya and the 1/2 Muffalleta. The jambalaya really didn't have much flavor, and the muffalleta bread could have been better. We got the sweet potato pie and a piece of King cake for dessert. The food I'd consider it mediocre, but give it a go and make your own opinion. We had such a great time last night @ Lola! We were seated immediately by their friendly staff who made the experience awesome! Food: We started with the Gumbo and the Fried Green Tomatoes that were off the chart delicious! I had the Shrimp and grits that were simply awesome - a Creole twist and spice to them. Hubby had the Redfish - delicious but we both thought the Collards were too salty for us. I recently went to dinner here for a GNO and we had a wonderful time. First off I just have to say the service here is phenomenal. Really top notch. I ordered the Etouffee and thought it was delicious. First time ever having it. I was going to order a side of the praline pecan cornbread so imagine my delight when I found out it came with my entree. Yummy! My friend had a hankering for the fried shrimp. Can't really go wrong there. She wasn't a big fan of the seasoned fries. Was hoping for just regular fries. I didn't get a pic of the fish tacos but they looked good. It does get kind of loud inside when the restaurant is packed with patrons. Of course we were there on a Saturday night so it was definitely packed. Luckily we had a reservation. Lola is one of our favorites in Park Circle and we finally got into the Mt. P location! It's the same amazing service and food, just a different location! Although we prefer the original for the environment of the OG/decor restaurant. The Mt. P location allows many more people to experience this awesome restaurant! Lola is definitely a must try Cajun restaurant. I must say you definitely need a reservation. We got lucky that someone canceled and we were able to be seated right away. However, we ordered a muffuletta, and we asked if it could come without cheese since one of us is lactose intolerant. The young man waiter told us that they couldn't do that since the sandwiches were already pre-made. We ordered anyway and then removed the cheese by ourselves. The food was delicious and flavor forward in true Louisiana style. I loved the fried green tomatoes in the red sauce and pepper jack cheese which surprised me. I had eaten half of it before it tried the sauce which made it all come together perfectly! We tried the étouffée with shrimp and crawfish that was a star dish! The vegetable jambalaya was seasoned perfectly, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection as well, not overcooked! And oh, I love the Caesar salad full of wonderful greens and a garlic forward homemade salad dressing! The keylime cheesecake was delicious but we skipped the chocolate Oreo crust as it over powers the delicious key-lime pie. It's thick, creamy and perfectly sweet and tart. The pecan sweet potatoe pie is sublime! Everything was a great experience from the extra wide parking space, fast service, to the hostess/Manager Abby who greeted us at the door with a huge smile. Ari made sure that our food restrictions were met and he gave us great suggestions. A great place to eat if you like food packed with spices and flavor! The bartenders and servers are extremely friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing. I had the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage and it was literally so amazing. Found out Lola is now in Mt.Pleasant. Made a reservation last minute and got lucky as it was one our friends birthday. We loved the location as it was very easy to get to, and the ambience has the homely feeling but with a touch of restaurant hustle and bustle. Ordered some delicious appetizers and also ordered our food and everything was served fresh and hot off the grill like we love it. Hello southern cooking! We have wanted to try LoLa since moving to the area and the first time did not disappoint. This is as close to New Orleans southern cooking as I have had since actually being in New Orleans five years ago. Lola offers a ton of options for everyone including gluten free breading which allowed us to order alligator bites! Love me some gator! We started with a round of drinks, my father in law was delighted to find out they carry wild turkey (gross), wifey had the blackberry moonshine drink and I had eventually two hurricanes. (The hurricanes are good, not fully authentic New Orleans but close). For food we had half a dozen oysters from Virginia (yum), gator bites and the shrimp risotto cake! All were amazing, the sauce on the risotto cake is fantastic! I ordered the jambalaya gluten free with the stone grits, my wife and mother in law had the ay too fah, with crawfish and my father in law devoured the Cajun burger. There was even room for dessert, a gluten free carrot cake, an Oreo key lime pie and bread pudding. Carson our server was the best! She was on top of everything and deserves a raise! I am gluten free, and they not only had so many choices, they had the most amazing gf cornbread - it was so good I got an extra 2 pieces to take home. both of our dinners were delicious (and huge servings), and they even had GF carrot cake, also amazing (diet starts when we get back home!) I live in Mt P and have only eaten there once, which was at happy hour. Prices were great! But be advised happy hour ends at 6:00 not 7:00 like most places. My wife had the smash burger and I had the Gumbo with collard greens. The smashburger was great and so was my gumbo. The collard greens however, were so salty I couldn't even eat them. Hopefully they'll see this and adjust the salt content. I do plan on going back at least one more time. read more

Let me preface this review by stating I do not like to celebrate my birthday for fear no one will show up. I chose to come to Lola for my birthday dinner and was belittled by the manager Abbie Roy for not having all of my chairs filled at the table. She made me feel extremely uncomfortable and singled me out asking "is the birthday girl even here" MID DINNER and then berated me for not having full attendance and told me next time she'd never seat me without a full table. Manager Abbie was beyond aggressive and quite honestly the rudest thing l've ever encountered while paying for a service or goods. She kicked my friend out for trying to speak to her about her behavior toward us- and then rushed us out mid meal with boxes and our bill. On a positive note, before Abbie made me lose my appetite, the food was tremendous and our server Carson was great! Anyone who can work under Abbie and still be smiling and nice deserves a raise. First let me say that I went to college in New Orleans. My Cajun/Creole food standards are higher than most. That said, the food was very under seasoned. Even the Smashburger. We tried: red beans/rice; Smashburger, sausage/chicken gumbo, greens, cornbread, grilled oysters, bacon wrapped scallops. 3 hot sauce choices. Best food: pecan cornbread. Drink selection was excellent. If you're not a true fan of authentic Cajun/Creole, you may like this food. Service was excellent! ALL employees were extremely friendly. No staff shortage here. very disappointing. I am from Louisiana, Cajun/Creole. The gumbo was very spicy couldn't taste the flavor of the gumbo. Waitress never refilled my water. Thank God for the water bottle I had in the car. Wasn't surprised. I should've left once I got there, I was ignored once seated. After 15 long minutes the manager noticed I wasn't served.
