    Shrimp Étoufee
    Kevin C.

Lola's was a great experience overall! I ordered the étouffée, and the flavor was excellent. My only small criticism is that the rice was a bit undercooked and crunchy in a few spots, but it didn't take away from the meal. The Hurricane cocktail is a must-try, and you don't want to leave without ordering the beignets --they were outstanding. The real highlight of our visit, though, was our waitress, Shelby. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to enjoy what she does. That level of hospitality made a real difference and elevated the entire experience. We'll definitely be back!

My family visited this restaurant on our last night on our trip to SC. We have been to SC multiple times before, but never have we experienced a Cajun restaurant like this outside of Louisiana. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place felt straight out of New Orleans.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband and I have spent a few trips there, so we can judge the food in comparison to some of the top dishes in that city. My husband ordered the charbroiled oysters, while good, they didn't match up to the ones we have had in NOLA. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, and they were great. Our kids loved them, including the remoulade. I ordered the shrimp etoufee with dirty rice. It was delicious and spicy in all the right ways. I would recommend checking out this place!

Went for my birthday dinner and they did not disappoint!! Excellent fast service as always! We started with the Cajun angels / - bacon wrapped scallops over street corn, Cajun Alfredo pasta with blackened shrimp, my son did a cheeseburger with mixed veggies w no spice (they were so good), and my husband got the Cajun Alfredo pasta with shrimp and sausage. The food is always consistent, the quality is amazing, service is great and the food comes out super fast! They also have the absolute best beignets and have them flown in from NOLA! Our favorites are the caramel pecan! They're life changing!

Went to Lola for dinner last weekend and it did not disappoint. We got the mussels and jambalaya, which are always go to picks for us. Food is consistently great, service was on point, and it's just one of those spots you can rely on for a solid meal every time. Would definitely recommend.

My date and I came to LoLa for the first time. The Cajun Shrimp PoBoy and Jambalaya were authentic and tasty! Service was top notch. They have a big selection of adult beverages. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very open inside seating, and can be somewhat loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend!

Everything was tasty. We got here right at 7 and it was hopping. Service was a little slow but allowed us to enjoy our meal and company together so it wasn't minded at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibe is definitely NOLA through and through.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Down to the swamp water arnie palmer with OJ and beingnets! All the food was delish! Very much enjoyed the tender gator.

A delicious background of LoLA's turtle soup.

LoLA in Mount Pleasant, SC is consistently good. The staff greets you with a smile. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is always pretty chill.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There a numerous gluten free options and the staff always is knowledgeable about celiac and gluten in intolerance. Furthermore, the employees always treat us well and are kind; and completely care about cross-contamination. I always feel comfortable eating at the North Charleston, SC location amd the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. location. The only downside is Mt. Pleasant's location lack of a dedicated fryer; however, the North Charleston location has a dedicated fryer. :)

The food and service were excellent. I got the duck fries to start which had seasoned fries topped with duck confit, fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, and fried jalapeños. Then for my entree I went with the shrimp and grits it was very plentiful of shrimp and the mushroom sauce on it was delicious. It also came with a piece of praline pecan cornbread I could eat a whole pan of it. Not pictured but the boudin balls, crawfish étouffée, and muffuletta were all delicious options as well.

The jambalaya over grits was too good and full of delicious local shrimp. Others in my party had the crawfish etoufee and shrimp po boy. Everyone enjoyed their meal and most of us had leftovers to take home since the portions are huge. Same friendly service as the North Charleston location.

Cajun corn. Not fresh, but tasty.

Note to self. Make reservations for the Fourth of July. I thought everyone would be at the beach so thought a late lunch would be easy peasy. I had a craving ( really an addiction) for fried oysters and I knew this was a new place in Mount Pleasant and since I am new as well, gave it a shot. Every single employee we came in contact with was cheerful and so accommodating. They were booked solid and the bar was also full with people standing. We decided to wait for a bit. We watched them turn away loads of folks. No openings until 7:30 and the closed at 8 pm that day. Long story short, they gave us a table if we promised to be out in an hour. Done! I asked for the fried oysters to be lightly fried because I had seen pics of them here and I was afraid they would be hard. My husband asked for the same. They did not comply with that but I will say that the oysters were delicious and so juicy with great Cajun flavors. I could just have wine and a plate of those bad boys and call it a day. They do go a bit overboard on the same seasoning in EVERY dish. The fries, the corn and the shrimp all have the same spices. The fried shrimp were unusually greasy but the oysters were not. I did see some fish tacos going by as we ate and I'd definitely give them a shot! Server was great! This is a small place with some outdoor seating. Make a reservation if you want to be seated inside. Oh, a lady next to me asked about the praline cornbread. If you like a piece of cake with your dinner, go for it. I do not. Born and bred in the South and this would be served as dessert. It was tasty, just not cornbread.

Sorry I didn't take a picture when it first came out because I had to eat this.

Thank you! Here's an updated version of your review reflecting the Cajun style of the seafood: I had a fantastic meal at Lola in Mount Pleasant. I started with the BBQ shrimp appetizer, which was rich, savory, and full of flavor--an excellent way to kick things off. But the real star of the night was the Seafood Gumbo. Without exaggeration, it was the *best gumbo I've ever eaten. The broth was deep, bold, and authentically Cajun. and the gumbo was packed with generous portions of seafood, including whole pieces of crawfish, a rare and welcome touch. Lola nails the Cajun flavor profile without holding back. If you're craving real Louisiana-style cooking in the Lowcountry, this is the spot. I'll be back just for that gumbo.

Risotto cake with shrimp and red beans and rice and their special cornbread. Delicious!

It was good, with decent flavor, though it was a little too fishy for my taste and a bit moist in the middle. Still enjoyable, just not perfect. Two people in our party got the grilled red fish. They liked it but wished the sauce had been served on the side instead of already mixed in with the scallions and tomatoes. The standout for me was the waffle fries - they were really delicious! Nice and crispy on the outside with a soft, almost mashed/pillowy texture inside. I've seen some complaints about them being too dry, but we thought they were excellent. Our waitress was fantastic - sweet, attentive, and made the whole experience better. Overall, a reliable spot for seafood in the area. We'd come back, especially for the fries and friendly service! My one qualm with the restaurant was the waitstaff-- we had to beg them to bring us water it was hot and sunny and it took so long. I had to get up and go to the bar to get it myself. The waitress finally came over and i told and she tried har to recover, but at that point we were kind of turned off. Anyway, the food was pretty good! We each had a Creek bowl with cilantro lime rice, black beans, cheddar jack, sour cream, jalapeño, pico, onions, and bell peppers. We added a white fish (grouper i think). It was the perfect amount of food, tasted fresh, and i loved how the fish was blackened. I would still recommend eating her because the food and vibe were really good.

The beautiful view of Shem Creek and its oysters, passing boats, marsh, and wildlife! I sat right beside the railing, where we could see it all! Now to the good part, the food! The selection of drinks was huge. I settled on a frozen one, the Golden Crush! It was delicious and paired great with the hot summer day. To eat, I started off with the colossal pretzel appetizer which came cut up and drizzled in queso. This was the only item I ordered that I didn't care for. For the main dish, I got the Saltwater Combo so I could enjoy a selection from both the Southern Fried Seafood options and the House-Smoked BBQ options. My options? The grouper fingers & St. Louis spare ribs with the sides of cowboy baked beans and mac n cheese. The whole plate did not disappoint! It was delicious!! While they had an elevated menu, the decor inside reminded me of an old crab house. They did have live music on a Saturday evening and a small covered patio. For starters we got corn bread and crab dip and both were fairly lack luster. The dip was small and very fishy for a crab dip. The corn bread looked like texas toast but grilled and sweeter then normal texas toast but nothing like any corn bread I've eaten in my 30+ years. For mains I tried the shrimp and grits, and some others in the group tried the shrimp skewers, shrimp tacos, etc. Most of the food was fairly tasteless and not in a this is so healthy way - it just was bland. My shrimp and grits had fantastic grits and dressing but the sausage was meh and the shrimp looked barely grilled. The side sauces were all pretty boring and one item came with a garlic butter that came completely cold - not sure how we were supposed to use it. Drinks we got were all pretty watered down - I did like the garden spritz but the basil flavor was the star of the show and some people didn't like how strong it was. Overall - maybe an off day but for the price point, not impressed on the seafood or the drinks. Bathrooms were also not very clean and the toilet literally shook off the wall when using them.
