I went this evening and I ordered the steak but they were out so I ordered the chicken. I always assume this is a breast so I didn't specify and most of the people at the table got a boneless breast. I got a thigh and a leg but I don't eat dark meat chicken. I told our waitress and she asked and they said I'd have to buy a second meal if I wanted a breast. She then apologized and said she should have asked. Ultimately not the end of the world. I gave my chicken to a friend and let them take it home. This place is advertised as a coffee shop on Apple Maps and their website, so on a Saturday night I went there to study. I clearly looked like a college student planning to study, I had a back pack and a sweat suit on. I walk in and it is a FINE dining candle lit restaurant. I had already gone to a different coffee shop and didn't wanna try a third, so I came in despite not being dressed for the occasion. I stood at the counter for 15 minutes as a server walked back and forth, and a busboy glared at me, finally the server told him to take my order, I got a chai tea latte. He told me to have a good night, I guess I probably should've left but I came to study! So I sat down at a table and pulled out my laptop, and a server immediately came to tell me that I couldn't use it as they have a policy. I was so frustrated and felt so judged and all of the staff and even some customers were glaring at me. The guy who took my coffee order could've told me in advance, I mean, I was wearing a backpack! Really, really good. Had dinner there before a movie and it was great - I love the emphasis on local suppliers on their menu. For what you're getting, the prices are really low - it's easy to imagine the same menu at another farm-to-table place priced twice as high. I really like supporting local restaurants but my last lunch here was not a good experience. 50 minutes for two sandwiches is pretty ridiculous. I finally went up to the counter after 30 minutes and got a "we have a lot of tickets " response. No apology. But the final straw was several groups that arrived before with bigger groups got food prior to us. Will think ing and hard about going there again. read more

I used to love Lola's- specifically for their focaccia bread and rosemary ham sandwich. Recently, their food taste/quality has declined dramatically. I ordered the rosemary ham for lunch today and there was a pound of mustard on the sandwich- they also add horse radish to it, so you can imagine how spicy this was. $20 down the drain for a meal that was thrown into the trash. read more

New favorite cafe and study spot! I enjoyed a sandwich with cured ham on freshly made baguette and a chai. Both of which were delicious. I was even offered a second chai before I even tried it because the barista thought it looked off in color. Sure enough the first one given to me was quite milky! The space is full of light and huge windows. It is the perfect quiet spot to study or meet a friend for lunch. I cannot wait to come back to try their dinner and cocktails. I love Lola's. They have a beautiful, spacious venue and it is a really nice place to work/study. I usually enjoy them as a coffee shop on the weekdays but was pleasantly surprised when they had offered a full service brunch. I ordered my cappuccino which was perfection, as always. I did however, take out my laptop as I was there for a "working breakfast". My server told me that there was a "no screen policy" on Saturday and Sunday. I was disappointed as that was the reason I was there. I do wish that had been communicated when I walked in or as I sat down. New restaurant. 4 months old. Ordered something called little eggies. I couldn't place it, but it definitely reminded me of a tasty dish I experienced overseas. The service was impeccable. Cute little eclectic coffee shop. They tried to use fresh ingredients for their sandwiches and are cute. But mine was a little dry. The coffee was decent. I like the spacious area to sit and chat with friends. Didn't feel pressure to leave. Also unique to have a theater just inside. Staff was great and patient. Brought coffee and food out to us. The vibes of this place are amazing! Plants everywhere, great lighting and it's clean too. I got an iced vanilla latte and it tasted truly like perfume. I could only take two sips of it. Ordered the danish with fruit and cream and the lady taking my order said that they don't have cream. My danish only came with almonds and powdered sugar. I'm sure there are better things on the menu, so just don't order the vanilla latte and be aware the names of the foods can be misleading. read more

We took my sister here for a birthday party with a group of women and we had the BEST time. The atmosphere is lovely, light and conducive to hanging out...they maintain regular hours not only when the movie theater is active. The food is yummy, fresh, and homemade with lots of options and vegetarian friendly. We had lunch but breakfasts and desserts look great. Let's patronize this new, locally owned restaurant! Super friendly staff and well balanced environment, great for interviews, lunches, and studying. Only downside is that screens are not allowed after 5:30pm--which don't get me wrong I am all for-- but the preparation for the screen free evening starts around 4 so sometimes as someone studying there's a lot of pressure to leave at that time which really cuts my time short. Other than that, food is amazing, meals and small bites alike. My hot drinks have come with a slight design on top a time or two, super fun! And with the movie theater built it, this is certainly a one of a kind environment that I HIGHLY recommend you check out!! read more

The espresso is hands down my new favorite. So good, not bitter, flavorful, and it never went sour even after 2 hours. We ordered some sandwiches but they were mediocre for the price but the foccaccia was delicious and crispy with just the right amount of chew. This place gives me a bougie vibe but clean and quiet, great for meeting with a client or a quick run on the laptop. With parking in the back, this makes for a great cafe if the ambiance warmed a little. Service was good but could be more welcoming. read more

For the record, I am too lazy to write reviews, even when I have a less than stellar experience, so please keep that in mind! I love finding cute coffee shops around Omaha, and this used to be one of my favorite places to study. However, the past couple of experiences haven't been great. Most of the staff were very rude and pretentious, with the exception of one hostess who was friendly. I learned the hard way they have a no-screen policy on weekends (in order to cultivate a "fine-dining" experience), but there was no signage to indicate that. The no-screen policy is odd considering that a large portion of their demographic (from what I've seen) is graduate students and young adults, like myself. I understand if they made changes to their policy, but they should have been explicit with their signage and kindly updated me on the policy because I clearly had no idea. As I was about to sit down, I couldn't even get a word in before a staff member abrasively informed me of the no-laptop rule. I don't know if it was because of how I was dressed or the fact that I was carrying a backpack (or both), but I felt an immediate sense of judgement (and received a few stony glares) from most of the staff upon walking in the door. I have worked in the restaurant industry and understand how difficult it can be, so I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant or cafe before today. I'm so disappointed because I used to love coming here, but I felt like they wanted to rush me out because I didn't belong. Maybe next time I'll wear a Chanel number and I'll be treated differently! read more

Had a GREAT lunch there today. All the salads and soups were amazing-with four people we tried them all. Reasonable portions, fresh, and very tasty. The bread pudding dessert was to die for, as was the affogato. The owner talked to us for a while and told us about how he makes the delicious sour dough bread. It felt like we were in a special place in a big city, except the staff was too nice to be big city. :-) So excited for this gem in Dundee and I hope it sticks around for a long time. read more
