My favorite taco place in Tampa. I love the fish tacos. They are loaded with veggies and the sauce that comes with it makes them even better. Lolis has the absolute best tacos in the Tampa Bay Area! I have been here multiple times as well as their other locations and am always a happy camper when I am done eating. Lolis is not your typical restaurant with loads of seating and waitresses but is more of a hole in the wall hidden treasure where you order at a counter and wait to hear your name to be called. You have a variety of choices such as tacos, sopes, tamales, tortas, quesadillas, as well as some of their agua frecas which is basically like juice. You have the option to sit inside (if you happen to find an empty table), eat outside or just take it to go. Sometime my friends and I sit in our cars because we cannot wait. The food always tastes fresh and delicious (I have only tried their tacos). I usually order 3 or 4 tacos (fish and shrimp) and get completely stuffed. The portions are great, they add a lot of great toppings like cabbage, guac, and pico de gallo. I love that they add sauteed onions on the side as well as different sauces, i personally love both the red and green. Overall, if you haven't tried Lolis, then you are missing out! This spot is a local chain in the Tampa area and man it did not disappoint. The space is small, like maybe four chairs but the food is so satisfying and authentic that you'll walk out of there really happy with your experience. The service is really nice, helpful, and quick here too. There's lots of options on the menu, ranging from chicken to fish to chorizo and al pastor. You don't have to get tacos. There are quesadillas and soaps as well. I got the al pastor, shrimp, and chorizo tacos and my boyfriend got the campacheno taco and all tacos were delicious. All tacos range around $2-$4 and your entire meal will be around $10. Really affordable and great quality food. I'm so happy with my experience here! The restaurant is a pretty pink color which you may be asking why I'm bringing this up? Frankly, I like the color, it seems welcoming and tropical. We ordered shrimp tacos and shrimp quesadillas. Lost a star because my dad didn't like his shrimp quesadillas. He said that the breading was burnt and the shrimp were fresh but too small. The shrimp tacos are overloaded with tomatoes, avocado, and lettuce. And this was my only issue, I don't like tomatoes nor avocado...I know. Yet, I asked for none and it was overloaded. Easy fix, just took it all off and my dad ate them so no waste. Shrimp was fresh, absolutely scrumptious. The green and red sauce was delicious. Everything was fresh. Our addiction is just on another level when it comes to Lolis Mexican cravings. Hands-down the best authentic Mexican food in the Tampa Bay Area. The ingredients are always super fresh. The fresh juices are just as refreshing and delicious. They are super quick and always busy because their food is just amazingly delicious. If you love tacos, this is your nirvana! I had been wanting to try their tacos for a while because I have heard great things about them and boy were they delicious! The inside is very small and because it was raining, no one was outside eating at the picnic table or on the deck. There are literally 5 tables inside that can seat 2-3 people. You order at the counter, and they call you when it is ready. I wasn't sure if three tacos would be too much so I just got two.. should have had three. I had a carnitas taco and a pastor. Both were delicious and the hot sauce that came with them was also yummy (I could almost drink it.) The carnitas was about the juiciest and most flavorful pork I have ever had! I am glad they are expanding locations and wish they would open one in north Pinellas! I will certainly be back to one of their locations and will try more kinds next time. read more

I know i already left a review but Lolis deserves another one. Lolis is definitely one of Tampa's best kept secrets when it comes to authentic Mexican food. Every time we make it down this way it is our mission to come here at least once if not more. I mean this trip we've already been twice in the last 24 hours and I'm not ashamed to admit it one bit. This place is always jam packed with locals no matter the time of day or night and if you come during prime eating hours be prepared to wait but staff are friendly and are as efficient as possible cranking out order after order. Usually we don't eat here because space is extremely limited so keep that in mind ( there are only 4-5 tables in here). But since the first time we've visited a few years ago Lolis has expanded and has another location with more seating. However this is the original one and the one we've always come to so we're ok with forgoing seating. If you're in the Tampa area and looking for real authentic Mexican food look no further. Their menu is straight forward and oh so delicious. And just a tip if you're in a tamale mood come early on the days they sell them because they sell out fast. read more

On Saturday, I had a few friends join me for the Tampa taco tour 1.0. I had asked for suggestions last week and I put 9 spots on our map. We managed to try 3 spots on Saturday while bouncing around the area. We have 2 more visits in the near future to cross them all off the list. We started at Lolis as it was the most highly recommended. We all tried different items. I went with a ribeye, pastor, and lengua taco. My girlfriend had a shrimp taco and a tamale. We ordered a pork tamale, but they delivered a chicken and we rolled with it. The tacos were all very tasty. The meats were juicy and flavorful. We liked both sauces they were served with. The chicken tamale was better than expected. Our only gripe about the place was the lack of seating. There were only a few tables inside and it was pretty busy so we ended standing outside. They have a fair amount of space outside of the building and you would think they could drop a few picnic tables outside so customers didn't have to stand while eating and dodging other customers. Overall, we all enjoyed our food. We didn't care for the lack of seating and think the Benjamin Rd location would be better to just get take out from unless you visit on off times. As we drove to our hotel in Tampa we couldn't help but notice this pink building that had a sign for tacos out front. Once settled in, a few of us walked over to Lolis and were beyond happy that we did. Between three people we sampled all of their tacos, and were not let down in the slightest. By far some of the best street tacos I've ever eaten. Even the grilled onions off to the side were cooked in a way that we could eat them like potato chips. The service was quick, efficient, and everyone there was polite. If you're in the Tampa area, stop here and get some tacos, you won't regret it. read more

I had this place recommended to me as one of the good places to eat in Tampa, so I was eager to try it. To give a fair shot, I order a variety of items. Pork and steak tacos, pork and chicken tamales, and chips, salsa, guac, and all hot sauces. To start, everything was packaged well and they remembered all items. The tacos were good enough, no questionably textured meat to sift through which was a plus. The downside to the tacos was that the tortillas were so thin that they started ripping. The pork and chicken tamales had incredibly mushy masa, like perhaps they were over steamed? Nothing really stood out to me about the tamales and while I finished the tacos, I ate about half of each tamale. The chips were noticeably frozen in origin, and stale upon arriving to me. The salsa, while flavorful, was too hot to be able to actually eat. The guacamole was decent but didn't have much flavor and left a lot to be desired. I had my heart set on sitting down to eat.....and I did......but in my car. Eh...... Other than that, Lolis does the damn thang! I had a beef tongue taco, a ribeye sope and a chicken quesadilla while my Wife had a cheese quesadilla. I did have to add a little salt to the sope but my tastebuds are spoiled from decades of Louisiana seasonings so again, just a minuscule gripe. Everything else was flavored just right. Heck, even their green salsa was pleasantly pungent. In FL, in MY opinion, the only Mexican joint that comes close to Lolis (based on the places I've been to) is Taqueria El Asador in Pensacola. Between them and Lolis in Tampa, I'm well taken care of on what's deemed authentic Mexican food. read more

I asked for a refund for the $50 termite-ridden food only to be turned away. Even the employees were swatting away termites. Health inspector is on speed-dial. Taco & Tamale Breakdown: -The Chicken Tamale (3/5) is fairly large especially for the price, but the Pork Tamale (red tomato sauce) is better because the green sauce was too tart for either of us. -The Al Pastor (4.5/5) included a couple pieces of fresh pineapple - always so good & loved the combo w/fruit! -The pickeled onion in the Carnitas (5/5) was delightful (I'm def. an onion freak - haha)! The old menu is shown, but prices have increased marginally to 0.25-0.50; The servings are appropriate for 1/person when you consider the price & it's about $3/taco. My favorite food in the world is tacos and this place serves them perfectly! Although Lolis tacos were more expensive than I thought they should have been, they were delicious and so tasty. I got 5 tacos: pastor, lengua, ribeye, carnitas and campechon (?). Not quite sure about the last one since I didn't personally order it and just asked the cashier to add his favorite one to my order. The campechon was my favorite! It had all of these meats combined and with their side salsas, it was one of the best tacos I have ever tasted. The rest were also very good, though the carnitas were a bit tasteless. I also got a large horchata and, wow, that was ALOT of liquid and a great mix of savory and sweet. Parking was a bit weird since we ended up parking in the dirt lot next to it and the restaurant was small and didn't have that many tables/chairs. But overall, would come back! read more

I said I'd come back to update my review back to a 5 stars if I had sopes and they were back to the old quality from when Lolis opened several years ago. I came in for tacos when I was in the area to give it another go after giving up on Lolis for about a year... after I dropped it to 3 stars for changing the quality of the meat. You can't and should not change perfection. When they first opened we all called the Lolis tacos "crack tacos" because you craved them all the time! There was just something about these tacos that had you waiting in a 30 min line. Anyone who knows me knows that patience is not one of my virtues, so waiting is not something I do unless you're that special. After about a year something had changed. I came in over and over seeking that first hit...and it was gone. Lolis has since redeemed themselves and I can definitely say these are the best tacos and sopes you can get on the West side of town. They may not be the same crack tacos they were in the very humble beginning, but they are mighty close. So they've changed something again, but this time for the good. I pass this area at least twice a month, but I'm now sometimes deterred by the long lines...so I'm glad they opened one only a few minutes away from my home. read more
