I really miss this place. I came here yesterday with a friend because I wanted to "make amends" with Orange County. Unfortunately, coming back to Orange County made me realize how much I still hate the area and how grateful I am that I live in San Diego. But I digress... When I used to live in Irvine, I made it a point to come here. It wasn't the best boba I've had, nor was it always the cheapest...but the reason why I loved it was because Lollicup was the only place that served Tea Slushies. I LOVE tea slushies. And because I had a punch card that was full, I figured now was the time to get the works: Royal Milk Tea Slushy with boba and a large cup. I was very happy. Minuses: Like I said, it's not the best boba...I think I came on an off day because my drink tasted okay...not great but not bad. It was super-crowded and I think it had to do with the fact that the girls who were making my drink were slow with all the orders. I'm not impressed. I like to give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this service, but they had at least 3 girls working the back...there was only one guy who was doing double-duty in San Diego Tapioca Express and he was flipping drinks like no tomorrow. Also a $15 minimum if you're using a credit card. Pluses: Loyalty card was still good after having it for 2+ years in my wallet. Plus, coming back here brought back some nostalgic memories...the place still looks the same as it had been when I was an undergrad and grad student at UC Irvine. Also, I think they have more tea selections than Tapioca Express...why don't they have Tea Slushies at Tapioca Express? (Note: I do not like Tapioca Express...I used to always pick Lollicup over Tapioca Express because I liked Lollicup's drinks better...and they were cheaper. There's really nothing special about this Lollicup, it's one of those "i need my boba fix but I'm too lazy to go out farther" places The boba is nothing to brag about but it's not bad either. Their Jasmine milk tea is satisfying. The service is a hit or miss... sometimes you get someone really nice and other days you get someone with an apathetic attitude. What I really dislike is the design of the place. There is more seating than the Diamond Jamboree one but the door is way too narrow to have it be both an entrance AND an exit; plus it's way too close to the cashier so there really isn't anywhere to move All in all, this place is not bad but definitely not something to rave about. If it wasn't for the nightmare parking at Diamond Jamboree, I'd rather go to that Lollicup instead. I'm also really bummed that they don't have milk pudding read more

3.5 stars. I've definitely had better boba, but it's a solid place to go to. I've tried their almond milk tea, regular milk tea, and some of their fruit slushies, and they're all decent. If you go here at night, it's usually overrun with high school kids, but I've never had a negative run-in, so nothing to really complain about. I've also tried their potato twist, and it's well flavored and delightfully potato-y (for lack of a better word). Rounded down to 3 stars instead of bumping it up to 4 because you need a minimum $10 purchase for credit card use, which basically makes it a cash only establishment if you're buying for yourself. read more

I enjoy milk tea boba from Lollicup. They have multiple locations. The nice thing about this location is that they serve food. But this can also be a bad thing as you should be prepared to wait around 10-15 minutes to get your drink and food order. Try the $5 combo where you get milk tea boba + chicken or milk tea boba + 2 potato twists. Not sure what these are? Check the pictures and just know they are nice crunchy and salty compliments to your drink. They also put on some spice powder on the food which gives it a nice kick. Don't forget to get a rewards card so once you accumulate 10 drinks you get 1 free. There is indoor and outdoor seating, can be limited but it's nice if you can grab a seat outside. BTW, oddly there are no prices on their drink board. I think it's about $3.50-$4.00 per drink. Hubby and I loves Lollicup, this is one of our go-to-locations. When I used to work in Irvine, I will go here every Saturday to pick-up our fav drinks! They have tons of flavors to choose from and now they even serve foodies. Love their chicken-pops and potato twist-- both crunchy, tasty, and has a spicy kick! If you find yourself going here frequently, don't forget to get a loyalty card. On your 10th visit, you get a free drink! Cute little hangout spot with a large menu. My story... I came here on Monday and got hot almond milk tea. I was so excited to take a sip of it but when I did It was kinda slimy n weird.. I thought that was strange so I took another sip.. Still slimy? So I thought maybe it was me and had my friend try it and she also said it was slimy.. I opened up the lid and looked inside.. This place is dirty and run down. Worst than a hole in the wall. Not sure if the owners of this place know there are "other" drink places in the same shopping center. I order 2 of their slush drinks and this overweight Asian dude was making drinks that day. I saw him scoop out something from the freezer. Then it went into the blender. Ooops! Not enough to fill 2 cups. Then another couple of scoops from the freezer and off it went into the blender. This time there was more than plenty to top off the 2 cups plus make another small cup. Instead of pitching the excess into the sink or offering the customer a larger cup, he poured the entire mixture back into the freezer. Don't you know it's against the health code to do stuff like this? Ever heard of cross contamination? Sorry, I can't endorse this place because you guys are dirty. This review is solely for their snacks, not their drinks. We tried their churros because we read that it's stuffed, and based on one of the photos on here, it looks like it had a lot of stuffing. I got really excited and wanted to try it because it's so hard to find a stuffed churro in Irvine. I was so disappointed because it had the tiniest stuffing ever. It's like they were being stingy and added only a drop of stuffing. I couldn't taste the stuffing and it was basically a regular churro. I've tried other stuffed churros, and you can actually see the stuffing inside it and it tastes so creamy and really good. Unfortunately, Lollicup's stuffed churro was not creamy 'nor was it really good. We also tried their Twist Potato, and also a bit disappointed. Lollicup is a great boba choice in the Irvine area and is somewhere I get drinks and food weekly. Although their boba isn't as trendy as the new boba shops in town, it offers a wide variety of flavors and allows you to be creative with what you want! There's no other place where you can choose to make your own drink with different teas, toppings, and flavors. My personal favorite is the matcha oreo drink. It tastes amazing and it's a drink that I've never had at other places. The potato twists and chicken here are also delicious and you can choose from different seasonings. However, the best thing here is the customer service! Everytime I go the staff are super nice and make sure that my order comes out well. I've been visiting this little boba shack since I was a little boy. Things haven't changed since then, except for the LA club decor. The drinks are pretty good, except the boba wasn't...what I expected. It was suuuper big, but still chewy. They have several specials posted next to the cashier, such as the 6 dollar combo (which gives you their Potato Twist or Lolli-chicken with any of their drinks for $6), which is a great deal when you're feeling nastay. The place was really small, and was quite packed when me and my GF came in at 10pm. All of the tables (outside and inside) were taken, so we had to wait for our drinks in the middle of the floor. The service was pretty good, the drinks came out quickly, but the food takes a while since it's only one person making all of the fried goodies. Overall, this is a great place to grab some late night boba, but I would grab my drinks to go because of the ambiance and the lack of space. read more

Ok if you are basing strictly by the pearl tea with boba this would bump up a star... but when you factor in everything, it goes down... this boba joint hit 2etoiles due to the intangibles... The location is across from the ranch 99 plaza in south irvine off the 5. However it is not visible from the parking lot. You literally have to go down the pathway and either around the pond or over the bridge to get to grandmas... err lollicups house errr location. Pro Tip: Go to another location unless you have lots of time to kill and want to stand.. Now for the heinous evil diabolical crap. You will be in a line. This is a combo hangout for a ton of teenyboppers and college kids with nothing better to do than to "study" here for hours and hours on end. This happens at some places sure, but when there is no seating that doesnt have 5 extra kids stuffed in at each table overloaded with textbooks, well that sucks major *(&^% So needless to say there is just about always a line of people waiting for and ordering... think starbucks between 7:00-7:30am. Essentially a line from HELL! Pro Tip #2: dont forget your punchcard... buy 8 or 9 drinks and get a freebee... The service is not very friendly. No idea why. But it was extremely curt service. I am sorry my speaking english may have offended you. I also must say that the location to pick up your drinks is horrible. They have far too many tables to allow proper access. I think that the fire marshall would have issued a few fines when I was there for not obeying the maximum occupancy let alone not having walkways available for the patrons.
