I called over 20 termite companies to get quotes for a fumigation on a new house we purchased. Throughout my research, I found out that all of the termite companies contract out the fumigation jobs to only a few local companies so they are all just marking up the cost that the fumigation company charges. Steve gave me the best price upfront and didn't try to upsell me on anything. He was even willing to use the inspection report that the seller provided from another company, and didn't try and charge me for another inspection. Out of all of the companies I spoke with, I got a great vibe from Steve and completely trusted he would be fair and honest with this process. The day before the fumigation, I found out I missed having the neighbor's sign a notice allowing permission to go onto their property since my deck touched their lot line. I've been using Steve at Lomax for years. I don't have termites, but I spray periodically to prevent getting them since my area of Oakmont is heavily-infested with termites. Steve recommends at least once every five years. Steve is reliable, he comes when he promises, and he is CLEAN and extra-careful when he comes up out of your crawl space. And he is an honest guy, no worries re him being inside your home. Steve does a VERY thorough job of drilling and spraying around the exterior and trenching as needed and spraying inside the foundations. Lomax has a 5-year warranty, but Steve comes back after 3 years to do a free inspection just to make sure you are okay. After five years, spray again regardless! Lomax's price is CHEAP for such thorough coverage, and their prices have not gone up one penny in three years despite all the inflation!!!!! We recently used Lomax Termite to tent and fumigate an older home in Glen Ellen, followed by repairing the damaged outside wood. Steve used two separate contractors to do the work (Best Care for the fumigation and Joe Silva for the repairs). We were very pleased with both jobs. Except for at the start, you can't really stick around to see the fumigation work, but Best Care was efficient in the tenting. And they finished right on time, allowing access back into the house as predicted. For the wood repairs, one company suggested replacing large amounts of damaged and nearby undamaged wood. That seemed like overkill. Steve and Joe saved us quite a bit of money by only replacing the actual damaged wood and no more. As good as it gets! We bought a large house in the hills of Sebastopol that had a pretty significant termite infestation. I did a ton of research, learning exactly what type of termites we had (subterranean and dry wood) and the various treatments available. I then had five different companies come out, conduct inspections, and make a bid on the job. While all of the representatives were professional and friendly, Steve, the owner of Lomax, was above and beyond. A very easy going way with no pressure to contract with him. He offered to do essentially what the other companies were going to do for about HALF THE PRICE! I'm not talking about small change here either. We had to treat the subterranean termites locally and then we had to (against my better wishes) tent my entire house and fumigate for the dry wood termites. Steve did the local treatment himself and then contracted with a fumigation company to do the tenting and fumigation (all local companies do that). It was a royal pain but Steve was very reassuring and helpful throughout the process. I can save you a whole lot of time and effort looking for a good pest company in the north bay. Lomax Termite Control has been a joy to work with, on all levels. When we bought our 1918 farmhouse outside of Petaluma, the owners had already done a pest inspection. But when I checked the reputation of the inspectors they used it was spotty, at best. I turned to Yelp and liked what I read about Lomax Termite, so I arranged a new inspection. Steve showed up with all his gentleness and expertise, and I feel very lucky to have found him. First off, the previous inspectors somehow didn't notice our powder post beetle infestation. Steve showed me the telltale holes and residue, and I had no doubt that there was a serious problem. Second, despite the new and dire findings, Steve's estimate for fumigation and repair was a tiny bit LESS than the estimate of the previous pest control company. Clearly this was a no-brainer. Steve set things in motion for our super-10x-fumigation. Powder post beetles are no joke. Then he marked every bit of rotten or infested wood and did a walk through with his expert carpenter. Lomax's consulting carpenter Joe was the icing on the cake. Talk about beautiful work. All of our rotting fascia, window frames, siding and flooring was carefully inspected and surgically replaced in the most friendly and informative way imaginable. I elected to have the dozen beetle eaten posts in the crawl space replaced (and braced!) as well, and I'm sure glad I did. The posts that were removed were indeed powdery and riddled with beetle holes. Additionally Joe discovered that several posts had been removed without being replaced, leaving a main beam largely unsupported. That was remedied.
