I'm a huge fan of microbreweries, and this one might be among the best in the area, both for its atmosphere and the quality of its pours. From the moment you walk in, you feel transported to a cozy cabin in the woods. The space is small, but the two floors make a big difference for seating so it never felt cramped. It's incredibly inviting. I loved the artwork, the dim lighting, and the overall cabin-in-the-woods vibe. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. They offered me a sample of their German beer, and after the first sip I knew I had to order it, even though I usually go for IPAs. I enjoyed the experience so much that I'm already planning my next visit.

I started with old scratch, a chocolate chili imperial stout. This was my favorite of all of their beers and the chili was just a hint, not too much to overwhelm wonderful Coco and vanilla flavors. My wife started with Bellweather, just a light easy drinking lager. I also enjoyed the oatmeal stout, which was brewed with British molasses to give it a richer flavor than one might find in normal stouts. My wife also enjoyed light some a blueberry lemon weisse beer. It's a sour weed out with hints of blueberry and lemon. The hard soda was a good finish - refreshing and tasty - especially enjoyed the lemongrass, cardamom tangerine flavors, but I didn't think it was just a bit too sweet for my liking. The brewery donates a certain amount of profits to local charities, and their customers help choose them - they give each customer a chip, and you put it in one of two bottles for the months chosen charities, and then that determines the proportion each charity gets of the total to be donated - - - - pretty cool I definitely recommend the giant soft pretzel with the beer cheese, nice and hot and goes well with any of the beers The Italian sausage grinder was tasty and good, but I thought that the chicken Parmesan sub was not particularly great - some pretty average chicken tenders were used rather than finding really good chicken tenders or a grilled a chicken breast. Might be worth upgrading this to match the wonderful beers.

While visiting several other breweries, we kept hearing about Austin Street, so we added it to our itinerary, and I'm so so glad we did. This location is small, and a little hidden as it's on the backside of the industrial area housing a few other breweries. Upon walking in, we were quickly and warmly greeted by Brie. She gave us recommendations based on styles we like, and what they had on draft vs in cans and we really enjoyed the selections. We found the beer to all be good representations of the styles we tried. The space is cute, with white board walls you can add your art or fun message on. The biggest thing for us was Brie herself. She was super attentive and friendly, and didn't mind us bugging her with our beer nerdery. All in all, one of our favorite spots on our trip, and we're already planning a return trip to Maine with Austin Street at the top of our itinerary.

If you were unaware Austin Street found their start with their original location in Industrial Way Portland area alongside lots of breweries in the area. I believe my first visit and taste of their beers was around 9 or 8 years ago. Once this location opened up it became the go-to for visiting Austin Street as it's updated and honestly nicer. I enjoyed their first location but let's be real this space is more unique and larger! Been to this spot many a times including earlier today. They still have an industrial feel to the place but have so many plants all around to brighten the spot up. Inside while beautiful I must say the true highlight is during warm weather with their large garage doors open. It also adds tons of additional seating to enjoy the weather too! Staff is always so friendly and ready to pour your drink with a smile. Beer wise they have a large variety including IPAs, pale ales, lagers, and sours. Including a special release each year made for International Women's.For non-beer drinkers don't fret, you can find wine, ciders, seltzers, cocktails, and plenty of non-alcoholic options. They also offer some snacks and frequently have food trucks/carts serving as well. With a lot of events scheduled too, including today that was a Summer Puppy Pool Party so as you can tell they are dog friendly. One of the many amazing breweries in this area of Portland. Well made beers with enough options for everyone to enjoy a drink even non beer fans. A place that supports many good charities/causes and hosts lots of events.

It's always a hit or miss for me when it comes to sours and this one did not disappoint! We were able to order food and have it delivered, which was a plus! As you likely remember we were still dealing with the dreaded pandemic back then. Belleflower has preserved through that and blown every expectation out the water. You could easily make an argument Belleflower is one of the best if not the best brewery in Portland and Maine in general. They nail the IPAs and all variations of them but also can do every other style very well too! In particular for this celebration of their 5th anniversary they released a fruited sour aged in barrels for around 5 years and a double dry-hopped DIPA and both are incredible well made beers! They almost always have a food truck option nearby including a fan favorite of mine, Ironclad Eats! Today they had Smokin Dads BBQ. If you are a beer lover living in or visiting the area you must visit Belleflower! You will have friendly staff welcoming you and will taste some world-class beers! Today I waited in line with my Banded Horn labeled growler. I was told the brewery no longer fills growlers. While thinking this was invredulous and dissapointed, I went to retrieve a four pack of the brew I wished to fill. The cashier I originally ordered from did not think it was fair to those who were waiting behind me to let me purchase the four pack ahead of them. She then let me know what a "pleasant person" I was. Well she is terrific budiness person who ensured that Banded will no longer receive another dollar from me. *i was forced to add a star to post this. It does not deserve any stars.

Definitely a great setup if you're looking to make a brewery day out of it! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and of course I had to get a beer flight because I love being able to try a little bit of everything before deciding on a favorite. The staff was friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. They're also dog-friendly, and there were so many cute pups around to pet! For food, there was a food truck on-site, which is a nice option if you want something to eat while enjoying your drinks. Overall, we had a great time and I'm glad we finally made it here. Between the beer, outdoor seating, dog-friendly atmosphere, and the other breweries just steps away, this would be a fun spot to add to a brewery-hopping day!
