I went through the drive-thru around 8pm and order about $61 worth of food. A 8piece family meal with fries and coleslaw, an extra fry and side of corn with two drinks. I specifically asked them to make sure the food was prepared fresh and that I'm willing to wait. The cashier assured me It would be fresh. As soon as I got home and my family sat down to eat, we noticed that ALL the food except 2 pieces of the fish was OLD AND SOGGY. The fries were super hard and seemed like they were sitting there for a while and the 6 pieces of fish were reheated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After a long day of work we all got together for dinner and it was so unpleasant and I was too tired to take it back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ended up throwing away all the food besides the two pieces of fish. My family wasn't able to eat properly and I wasted my hard earned money and time going to this place. This is a chain restaurant that has been around for so many decades. 5 to be more precise. They are known for their fried fish and other seafood items. I'd be careful eating here often as the seafood is battered and fried to the extreme. Plenty of oil here is used but with that being said, balance what you eat and do. Or you'll end up clogging your arteries from all the breading. From coated items that go into the fryer, like fish, chicken, and shrimp, you can pair it with sides like green beans, corn, hush puppies, and more. There are weekly promotions such as discounts on tacos, combos, and their all you can eat on Sundays for $7.99. That may be their best deal because you can get all the fish, chicken, hush puppies and sides you could possibly want. I must say, most of the items here were flavorless and the fried fish have huge, thick battered crusts. With bargained pricing, I can understand why people still continue to come back here. Instead, I got one popcorn shrimp basket and one basket full of fries and nothing else. I do not understand how they could get the order so wrong, but still charge me for two shrimp baskets. Had a craving for deep-fried fish during this Lenten Friday, so traveled from Elk Grove to the only Long John Silver's Seafood Shoppe within 10 miles. They closed the one on Meadowview Road in Sacramento and have not re-opened it. Ordered the 2 piece fish combo which included 2 nice sized pieces of fish lightly battered, 2 hush puppies, and a side of cole slaw, along with a drink. The fish was tasty and crispy the way I like it. The cole slaw was excellent also. Looks like I will have to return again since I refreshed my taste for crispy fried fish. Let me start by saying that there isn't anyone who has eaten more food at Long John Silver's than I have. For over three years I ate there every single day for lunch. Four pieces of chicken and shrimp. Sometimes clams. That's over 3000 pieces of chicken and over 2000 shrimp. That said, I feel that I can consider myself an expert on the average quality at old LJS. What stopped my patronage? Price increases. From only a few years ago, the prices have increased by 40%. No longer is it a slightly-more expensive lunch alternative. Now it's about double eating an any other fat food spots. So why still eat there? The chicken is chicken. It's not chicken-paste shaped into strips. The clams are actual clams, and, again, not clam paste like you find in the frozen food aisle. The shrimp could use some help. For their price, they are a bad value and often have a faint fishy flavor which gives away that maybe they are a little ... not fresh. The quality at this location is generally good and the staff are friendly and accurate. There are a few important things to note: Primarily: LJS has amazing batter. I've tried for countless hours to duplicate it using copycat recipes and my own imagination. Don't even try. Just appreciate when you get some of the extra hard batter in your food basket. Secondly: People are under the impression that LJS sells lobster at an affordable price. LJS does not serve lobster. But what about Langostino Lobster Bites? Well, you may as well call them Langostino Mermaid Bites. There is no such creature as a Langostino Lobster. What you are eating is a food called 'Lobster Bites' made from a creature named Langostino. Real langostino. Not to be confused with Real Pleather, or Real Artificial Sugar. More on Langostino: Its closest cousin is the hermit crab. The food itself though, its somewhere in the ballpark of actual lobster texture and flavor, but it would be hard to mistake it for real lobster side by side. read more

It's a bummer that we don't have a long John's in our area anymore. Really wish they had clam chowder though. If in town, we're definitely coming back here. I ate here last October and had a great experience so I made a good review. Today, however was a VERY different experience! First I waited nearly 5 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge I was there and there was only 2 cars in the parking lot and NO ONE in the drive thru so I figured it'd be quick. Wrong! Used to love eating here. Would always come with family. But lately, the food hasn't been tasting the like it used to. The coleslaw has no taste to it, the corn tastes like its been dipped in water, the fries are not as tasty as they used to be. If you like LJS, this is a good location. The food is consistent and good. The staff is friendly. I've eaten there many times, both inside and drive-thru. I get the super sampler combo because you get one fish, one chicken, three shrimp, fries, two hushpuppies, and a soda. for cheaper than most of their meals there. I think it's like 6.99.
