    We are not very happy with the service from Tel Star. I had service tech, Lucas, out to replace…read morebatteries and add 2 new door contacts to our security system. Since that visit we have not been able to arm our security system. I've texted, called and emailed with no response. As a result of no communication, I emailed to terminate our contract/service and again no response. Last year Lucas replaced our thermostat. At the time it was winter so it was tested for heat but when the spring came, the AC did not work which he ultimately repaired. I asked why we have to replace the batteries on this thermostat almost every 6 weeks. We have never had a thermostat that required this. He said it was how this one worked. My brother visited and said it was because he did not hook up the green wire which gave it power from the HVAC unit. My brother hooked this up and we've not had to replace the batteries. We've worked with Tel Star for almost 10yrs but I believe it was sold about 2-3yrs ago. It seems that every time we've had a service call, it required at least an additional visit to resolve the problem. I question the depth of technical knowledge the company has. I would not recommend this company.

    It is unfortunate that I have to write this review for a security company…read more I inherited a un-monitored security system with my home purchase, which I have never used. This morning the keypad started to beep (very loudly). This was all of a sudden/while we were sleeping - so I am guessing some sort of malfunction. I called the service number but since it's Good Friday the service station was closed for the weekend. I called the monitoring station, and they informed me they have a on-call technician that can help. Here is where the trouble began - they refused to call the technician because I was not on their monthly paying plans. Just to be clear - they had a way to help me out but chose NOT to because I was not on their monthly plan. It was their system that was malfunctioning, but no - no help. They implied I should just endure the alarm all weekend - till their service station opens on Monday. If this was their response to a non-emergency situation where they had the means to help - I wonder what they will do in an actual emergency. My recommendation - pick someone else.
