I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel others should know what to expect. We visited LongHorn Steakhouse in Council Bluffs on Father's Day weekend during the College World Series. We waited about 30 minutes for a table, which was understandable given the circumstances. To help move things along, we ordered our meals when we ordered our drinks. Despite that, it took approximately 45 minutes to receive our salads and another 25 minutes before our entrees arrived. By the time our food came out, we had been waiting well over an hour after ordering. To make matters worse, several steaks were undercooked. After such a long wait, the last thing anyone wants is food that isn't prepared correctly. At that point, nobody even felt like eating anymore. What was most concerning was that our server told us undercooked steaks happen there "all the time." Hearing that at a steakhouse was honestly shocking. When I spoke with the manager, I was told they were backed up and didn't anticipate the rush. Frankly, that's hard to understand. It was Father's Day weekend during the College World Series--one of the busiest weekends of the year in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area. To add to the concerns, the floors throughout the restaurant were extremely slick. We actually witnessed a child slip and fall, which was alarming and speaks to a larger issue with maintaining a safe environment for guests. To the restaurant's credit, they did reduce our bill by 25%, and I appreciate that gesture. However, it didn't make up for the excessive wait times, undercooked food, safety concerns, and overall disappointing experience. This meal still cost our family of four over $100. For that kind of money, I expect timely service, properly cooked food, and management willing to take ownership when things go wrong. This was supposed to be a Father's Day celebration. Instead, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience from start to finish. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. read more

The overall experience here was exceptional. From the nice atmosphere to the nice staff that was very tentative. The steaks were well prepared and seasoned just nice. The wait for a table or for a server was not bad considering how busy it was. I also enjoyed these drinks. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in Council Bluff or Omaha area. read more

Well hello everyone. Hope you're having a great weekend. So my first time trying this restaurant. And u gotta say it's pretty good. I ordered the 12oz ribeye with steamed asparagus. The spinach dip and strawberry cheese cake on the side. Nice portions. For to go orders. The service was great. The only thing is I was so hungry I didn't take pics of the ribeye. My grandson and I both had the Flo's filet for dinner, the cook on it was perfect but the seasoning was extremely black pepper forward it totally ruined my palate and had to put butter on it just to get it down, my grandson ate about 3-4 bites and gave up. Our service was ok it took a long time to get dinner but the drinks were delicious and delivered very quickly. My husband had the T-Bone and his wasn't over spiced at all. I used to eat here all the time but found my steak very salty so switched to Texas Roadhouse. read more

We had an "off" expectations at Longhorn last night. When we arrived, we were seated promptly and our server Abigail was on point. She got our drinks and bread. Then the weirdnesses started. She said our appetizer would out shortly. Then she brought us our salads, several minutes later, our barely warm stuffed mushrooms arrived. We ordered steaks and baked sweet potatoes. After a bit, they arrived- the potato was so cool it couldn't even melt the butter. The butter had congealed on our steaks and they too were quite cool. You can't go wrong with Longhorn steakhouse... The food is always perfection especially their steaks. I found my new love their chicken tenders. You get more than you could possibly eat and they have a light breading on them which I prefer. Had lunch today 3/3 and what a disappointment again. I really wanted to give it another chance. We were seated right away. Staff took our order promptly but then we waited for quit awhile for our food. My husband's soup arrived with his meal and both of ours had been sitting so long it was like a bowl of hard bread. The French onion soup sat for so long that the bread had absorbed the broth and it was rock hard on top. My husbands steak was ordered med and came out gray since it was overcooked. I had the salad with chicken and mixed greens. It too had sat because the lettuce was so limp Sorry but we used to enjoy coming here but no more. At least the staff were friendly. read more

My family visited LongHorn on a Friday night. We were greeted right away and seated promptly. We were seated in a quiet corner where we could enjoy conversation over dinner. A few family members ordered from the beer menu and got their drinks quickly. We ordered a Texas Tonion as an appetizer. The onion petals were nice and crunchy and the dipping sauce delicious. There were five of us, and one order was plenty. Our server also brought us a small loaf of bread and butter to accompany our meal. That's one of my daughter's favorite parts about LongHorn. I ordered the 6 oz sirloin with rice pilaf, and substituted broccoli for my salad. The steak was cooked just as I ordered it, and was delicious. The rice was moist and flavorful, as was the broccoli. The others in the family who got steak said theirs was also prepared well. Two family members got the Parmesan crusted chicken and raved about it. Our drinks were refilled promptly, which I always appreciate. The excellent food and service keep us coming back. We will definitely continue to keep this restaurant in our rotation. read more

Staff here is AMAZING. Super friendly polite and do not bother you too much. They always make sure you have what you need. Although the meat here in my opinion has no flavor or seasoning. First of all, my food was great. I'm a steak lover, but they have something on their menu that is amazing. The Parmesan Crusted Chicken. Service was below par. Needed another drink, but she didn't care to ask. Seems to happen a lot when you eat at the bar, Seems like they never want you to eat at the bar and they don't want you drinking more than a drink. Went to Longhorn on 10/15/21 and ordered a rare ribeye but we got raw. The meat was pretty cold still. Overall, the server was pleasant and helpful and notified the manager so this score/comment is nothing towards him. The manager stopped by and looked at the steak and asked us how we ordered the steak. I said rare and showed her. She apologized and asked if she wanted to have it recooked. At this point, I was there with my raw steak for about 30 minutes...I was pretty much done. I replied no and she replied "ok, I'm sorry" and walked away. Mind you Other tables had to send steaks back to the kitchen. I'm not here to ask for free food but a little more compassion would have been nice. I've been to various Longhorn locations in the past few years, and found it to be "fair" dining. In my terms, it meant I didn't plan to make a special effort to return, but wouldn't be upset if I happened to eat there again. Then, in Nov 2015 they hosted a yelp event at an Omaha location that I was invited too, and I was blown away at the service and the food. To make sure this wasn't just propaganda to butter "elite yelpers" up, I visited a few locations since the event to see if service and food were still up to par. I was pleasantly surprised at my findings. This Council Bluffs location was one of the ones I have visited since the yelp event, and I found the staff to be smiling, helpful, and not overbearing. All food came out on time and with the correct time spacing (app, main course, desert) and all food was hot served right as it was made (it seems). I was really happy with the wild west shrimp $8.99, as steal for the portion, and the lunch specials are also very reasonable. Overall the food was great. I have yet to try the ribeye, which I had loved very much at the event, but will have to save that for an update. And drink lots of water when dining here, as the food tends to be on the salty side. read more

This is my second update on this place and I honestly don't think its going to get any better. My wife and I went today, Saturday, at around 1:30pm. I had the Wild West Shrimp and the T-Bone steak and she had the Pretzel Sticks and the Bourbon Glazed Salmon, I took pictures of all four and posted them on Yelp. The Wild West Shrimp were crunchy and goo but the T-Bone was way over seasoned, (too salty), and it was smothered in butter, from top to bottom. I picked the T-bone up and it was laying in a pool of butter. When I cut off my first few bites, all I could taste was butter. This shouldn't happen to a $23 steak. I understand that they use butter to keep it moist while its cooking, I get that, but this was way too much butter and it was swimming in it. I tried to take a picture, but I accidentally deleted it. The service was good. We had to wait a few minutes to be greeted by our waiter, which was okay. Taylor was great and he took care of us. He was very nice and knowledgeable. My wife wanted a particular dessert and I wanted lamb chops, both of which were seasonal and eliminated from the menu a week prior, which was just bad timing. Overall, I don't think I'll come back to Longhorn. I gave it three chances and the past two were a waste of my time and money. I really wanted to like it, but I can't ignore the poor quality of the food and cooking. I even saw in other reviews that a lot of food here has been too salty for other people, and I definitely agree after what I had today. read more

I have never visited this this chain before so I came in expecting mediocrity and was slapped in the face with excellence. First this place was clean and all of the employees were hustling (but not in the chaotic way you usually see at a chain restaurant). It was like watching a well rehearsed ballet. Martin was our waiter and he was attentive without being intrusive and friendly in all of he right ways. Then there was the food! Everything my husband and I tried, from the steak and shrimp to the sides was very tasty and hot. My husband and I had eaten at the Guy Fieri place the night before and the food was just kind of ok. Do yourself a favor and skip the high price casinos and head over to Longhorn! They give you a lot of food for non casino prices. Also the manager Billy stopped at each table to inquire about our experience (awesome!) and to give us a card for a free appetizer or dessert for next time. I had never been here before. Spouse is out of town so I decided that the 8 yo and I would go out to dinner. We were greeted promptly by Elisabeth who seated us and was also our server. She was friendly and knowledgeable which is always good. She suggested some appetizers but we passed. She brought us some housemade whole wheat bread which looked good but was probably a bit old as the crust was so hard we couldn't eat it. She didn't offer more so we didn't try a fresh loaf, bit then we didn't finish the one she gave us. I didn't want to fill up on bread. I started with the Grilled Watermelon Salad. It appears to be a seasonal dish due to the watermelon. The pictures on the menu looks great. The salad included kale and goat cheese and looked great. When it came out, it looked wonderful. Beautiful presentation. The dressing, which I think was a lemon based dressing, was way too sweet for my taste. I liked the nice balsamic drizzle on the salad and there was a generous amount of crumbled goat cheese. The watermelon had an "off" taste and I wondered about it's freshness, after a bite, I didn't finish it. Also, there was a large amount of lettuce cores in the salad, probably about 1/4 to 1/3 of the lettuce which is too much for me as I dont like to eat the tough core. For my entree, I selected the 8 oz sirloin with the steakhouse macaroni and cheese. The steak looked great and was cooked to perfection at medium rare. The flavor was great and it was not too tough. The macaroni seemed a bit dry at first but I was able to stir it up, the liquids seemed to go to the bottom. Nice cheesy consistency with bacon. I enjoyed it. The steak came with a side and a salad but both of the sides I chose cost an additional $1.49. Elisabeth did tell me this at the time I ordered. The kids menu has many choices and my son picked the kids sirloin. He said why go to a steakhouse and not get steak! He chose fries as his side. The steak was very thin but it was a kids size. The fries were hot and you could smell the season salt on them. He enjoyed the meal and gave it a thumbs up. He wants to eat there again for his upcoming birthday. He talked me into the Brownie sundae for dessert. It had a nice presentation, can served in a large martini glass. Two pieces of brownie with vanilla ice cream in the center, generously topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream and a cherry. We both enjoyed it. I'm sure if I had mentioned things like the bread they would have corrected it. I just didn't feel like complaining about things. We'll be back. read more

Went to the Council Bluffs Iowa location and generally have a great meal. It was very busy and they asked us if we wanted to eat at the high top in the bar area so we did. Our waitress came over promptly and ordered drinks and an appetizer. She came back with the drinks and we ordered our dinner. The appetizer came out quickly and was hot and my husband loved the shrimp. We patiently waited for our soup and salads but it turned into about 30-40 minutes and the waitress stated that our order was lost and then confirmed what our order was and said it wouldn't be long. I understand that errors can happen and wasn't upset about the hour wait for our food but I had 2 small kids that were very hungry and trying to keep them entertained that long was a chore. When the food arrived we ate and it was delicious. My complaint is that our waitress should of relayed the problem to the management and at least compensated some of our bill as we had to wait so long for food. I have been here 3 times and each time I have no complaints. The service is great: you get your food in a decent time, staff is always so friendly, and it has such a cozy environment. The food is amazing! As far as the steak goes in my opinion they have the best. Their Brussel sprouts are so good with a small touch of sweetness. Their stuffed mushrooms are so good and cheesy. Their Mac and cheese is so good especially if you're into the type of Mac and cheese that's more elevated. I would recommend this restaurant to everybody! This is one of our favorite go-to restaurants! Delicious stakes, burgers, and sides (I especially love the broccoli), and our all-around favorite strawberry lemonade. Their onion pedals and bread are excellent appetizers. Great friendly staff. And the deserts are amazing! We love the chocolate stampede and cheesecake options! They keep their restaurant clean and welcoming. Bathrooms are well stocked and cleaned. The have a changing station for babies which is always a must for parents. We go at least a couple times a month for family dinner after we all get done working. Great time to chat and enjoy some delicious food! read more

Terrible service! We waited at our table for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement whatsoever. It took forever to just get water. Refill on water took place 45 minutes after initial filling. That is when my daughter's initial coke was served! The food took forever. We ate with dirty salad plates on the table, just pushed to the middle. I come here quite regularly, and it's always fantastic. However, today was slightly different. Fantastic in a different way. The person I was eating with had Prime Rib, rare. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious---per usual. My New York strip, however, was overdone (Very well done as opposed to medium well). They asked how everything was, and I said my steak was well done but not to worry about it (I was pretty hungry and I don't like to complain). Well, long story short, they comp'd both of our meals even though the other person's was absolutely perfect. The manager said, "You both came here to eat and have a good time. No one likes waiting for their food to cook *again* while watching someone else eat, so we'll be taking care of both of your meals tonight". Needless to say, I'm pleased. Service was excellent. Waitress, hostess and manager were all professional and kind. We requested to sit in the table in the back and have the booth to the side for the children (as the children asked for this) and they were very accommodating. Food was super salty. Every now and then- I come here and the chef has a heavy hand with salt. The parm chicken was super salty, steaks were salty and the lobster was salty. Ugh. I didn't send anything back because... well, I was HUNGRY lol. And just drank water to bare the salt. Usually I would have sent it back. Sangria... delish. Seating--- Lovely. We sat in the back in the "formal dinning room table" which we requested. The one in council bluffs has a round table but the Longhorn in Omaha has a more secluded oval table in the back... So I was a little disappointed that this table was not as secluded as the Omaha location. Despite the food being salty... it wouldn't discourage me from trying it again... maybe a month or two down the line. When longhorn is not salty-- they are delish... as a matter of fact- we when come to Longhorn and they aren't salty... it leaves us wanting more and we end up patronizing the restaurant twice a month.
