    Texas Tonion

We came here to celebrate and ordered a steak and burger. The steak was a little overcooked for my liking of medium rare but the side of brussel sprouts were particularly good that night. The burger and chowder were standard, and we ate everything except for the Texas onion was too salty for me. But it was palatable while alternating bites with the burger. The restaurant was clean, and the dimmer lighting set the mood for a fancier chain restaurant. Overall enjoyed the meal, but it might have been the company I enjoyed more.

    Us waiting forever

We had a party at 14 people three wheelchairs five walkers they would not take reservations so we let them know a half hour before we would be there. The person on the phone said when we get there that is when we will set up and figure it out. When we got there we waited 15-20 minutes. Got seated and the wait game began. Arrived at 12:30 served at 2 and left at 2:30. Food was great but the waiting game was terrible.

Stopped by for dinner got the sirloin steak with baked potatoe and sweet potato. My husband got the ribeye bone out with baked potato and a sweet potato. The kids got a sirloin steak with mash potatoes and Mac and cheese and chicken fingers with French fries. Then for dessert we got the chocolate lava cake and I have to say it was all pretty good. My fav was by far the sweet potato chicken fingers and the lava cake.

The service was a little slow, but in their defense, right at 11 o'clock on the dot, eight very large parties walked in and filled nearly every table in the restaurant simultaneously on a Friday. I tried the seven peppercorn steak salad. I love the tang of some blue cheese with some good pepper crusted steak. This is a solid lunch choice! The dressing comes in kind of small containers and I must use a lot so I would request three salad dressings.... The sign in the women's room made me smile. It embodies the character of a Midwestern women.

terrible cut of filet! $30 steak with tendons. I eat filet expecting it to be smooth as butter to cut. This one couldn't even be cut. Don't waste you money or time.

I did enjoy my dinner at this location. Sat at the bar. It was busy and the bar tender was doing everything she could to attend to everyone. Was very surprised that they don't have a bar back with so many seats at the bar. She did a great job walking me thru the menu. My NY strip came out great and both sides were freshly made and tasty. The dinning area at this location is fairly large with booths and tables. The bar is stocked with some good bourbon and nice selection of beers.

It was a great place to have a nice solo steak dinner in West Lafayette. I don't eat steak often, but when I do, I want it to be amazing. And my steak was amazing! I got the 8-ounce Linz Heritage filet, Sam Allen style, which meant that it also came with grilled shrimp and a chimichurri. Yum yum yum to all three things. I usually order my steak medium-well, but the server suggested medium, so I went with it. Good choice! My server was very wise, even though he looked like he was still in college. Along with the steak, I got a side of grilled mushrooms, which came in a brown sauce with chives sprinkled on top. But first: I started with an heirloom tomato salad, which was served with stracciatella cheese, basil and these cool balls that looked like roe, but were actually balls of balsamic vinegar. Fancy! It was fresh and light, and the perfect appetizer to get during a summer in Indiana, when them tomatoes be poppin'. I don't know why I'm reviewing my meal backward, but just go with me, people. Before everything, you get complimentary rolls and butter. Oh man! I could have made a meal just from the bread and butter, both of which were tender and soft, and so salty and flavorful. At the very beginning of my meal, I started with an Old Fashioned, because I read that Boilerhouse Prime is known for their Old Fashioneds. This one was well balanced, and came with a nice bourbon cherry. I also got a glass of Malbec along the way with my meal, which went well with my steak. This seems like an adults-only restaurant, but I was sitting close to a big table that had a family with kids, so well-behaved kids are definitely allowed, even though I did not see a kids menu.

Last time I got the lobster bisque and it may have been the best I've ever had. I ordered it again and it was terrible. Just terrible. Tasted kind of bitter and was much too dark for a lobster bisque. The side dishes are enormous and they were all ok. The charred broccoli is an entire stalk thrown on a grill. Char on outside, raw on inside. Lovely. My American Wagyu bone-in strip was good, though it tasted no different than prime meat and did cost $95. I would have hoped for better than just 'good'. Family enjoyed most items. I sampled the wedge and really liked that. Probably best part of the meal. Oysters were excellent. Drinks are always good here. They have upgraded their rum list and have some high quality ones now. That's great! Service is always top notch. I will definitely be back for happy hours. The food at this restaurant is good. But when 2 adults and 3 kids drop $800 on a meal, it really ought to be fantastic, not just good.

As a wee child and teenager, it was the location of choice to celebrate birthdays and holidays. As a college-aged adult in training, it was the place to meet up with friends, share some drinks, and watch Jerry dance on top of the bar. Even now, as a married man in his thirties, living a ten-hour drive away, I make it a goal to enjoy Nine Irish Brothers once per year at the very least. When my childhood best friend of eighteen straight years passed away, this location marked the final stop in the bar crawl that was held in his honor. When another friend had bravely "come out" only to be to rejected by some of his religious friends, Nine Irish was the place where my wife and I were able to sit down with him over some Guinness and goat cheese fritters and show him how much we love him. The food and drinks are fantastic, and the memories are forever. Whether you've lived in Lafayette/West Lafayette all your life, you're new to the area, or you're just passing through, I cannot recommend this pub enough--no matter your age. She was awesome and hooked me up with all three, which turned out to be the perfect move. The sandwich was massive--easily a third of a pound of meat. There is also a fully self service station for sauces as well as Takeaway boxes if you need them. The menu offers a lot of different combinations and samplers and meats from pork to chicken. The sides are also a little bit unique in the sense that the vegetable sides also have added bacon, which is great to see. I personally love to see hush puppies, which is a very antiquated and rare to find option for food. And they did not disappoint. Overall, I would say from the sampler of the ribs and the chicken were fantastic as well as the pulled pork. The brisket was OK, but did not necessarily stand out. We did try four different barbecue sauces, which were all fantastic. The hush puppies as I stated earlier were absolutely delicious and I would come back just for these. We also got the corn pudding, which was a little bit on the sweeter side, but made and baked fresh just like everything else here. And this was a great alternative to cornbread. To top it all off, the staff here was so super nice, especially the young man at the counter when you first walked in as he also offered up a sample of the corn pudding because I've never heard of corn pudding nor did I ever tried it and this was also my first visit. I would definitely come back here again, and/or visit any of their other locations closer to Indy.
