A tremendous explosion of flavors came my way today from Plank House in the form of shrimp scampi. First, those aren't shrimp, those are prawns since they are of that size! Perfectly cooked they most certainly were. The amount of pasta is large enough that when combined with the prawns and the in-house made bread, that you could feed a hungry logger for sure! Look at the sauce the shrimp scampi is cooked in and you will see finely chopped bits of everything used in its preparation. Soak the bread in it for more foodie fun! Every bite of this meal was orgasmic in its impact. This was one of the best tasting meals of my life! What is sad is that not another person was around to eat and enjoy the bay view. The service is so friendly and on point too. Such a nice place deserves patronage. Then head upstairs to see more dining area, a cigar lounge, a virtual golf game and bar plus the magnificent bay view. This is my second meal at a Mill Casino restaurant. There will be a third and many more! The Mill Casino is Coos Bay-North Bend's hidden gem sitting in plain sight. Such nice staff work there too. This place got a HUGE makeover! The cocktail bar is amazing - it's so comfy and warm to sit there now - you can watch sports in there COMFORTABLY with high end cocktails, beer, wine, and the view is unmatched!! Service is amazing as always. AND!! They have a cigar lounge upstairs!!!! I love coming here for a quick bite (I did today for a quick bite - had the prime rib sandwich - soooo good!! And a dirty martini which was FANTASTIC!) but it's fun to come here for dinner for date night, girls night, or just by yourself. I'm so glad this is here!! read more

Way over priced. Quality was mediocre at best. My wife had a salad, with dry, tasteless chicken. And water.i had the Salmon with crab meat. And a non alcoholic berry drink. The bill was $111. My dinner was $80 by it self, I didn't finish the drink, I squeezed 4 lemon wedges on the salmon, they don't even put salt and pepper on the tables. The atmosphere was excellent tho. I did not enjoy the food much, the crab meat was better than the salmon, the salmon had very little flavor. My wife's salad was a whole lettuce with the end cut off, and then sprinkled with some dressing, and stuffed in to a crunchy bread ring? the food looked great. It ended there. The Plank House just reopened this weekend, after a two-year hiatus and remodel. The results are spectacular! The dining room is very inviting, with very unique features. The photographs of local indigenous activities really round out the vibe well. We ordered off the lunch menu; the mozzarella pearls appetizer was very good. Two of our party had the burgers, which were very generous, and well enjoyed. The shrimp scampi was also very good. My daughter had the crabcake sandwich, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I ordered the Beet, Burrata & Grapefruit salad, and found it to be the perfect flavor. Looking forward to coming back again soon, and trying out some of the whiskey offerings listed. My husband and I have dined at the new Plank House Restaurant three times since their opening. We have been very pleased with the food and the service was excellent! We have tried both charcuterie boards, focaccia, clam chowder, the ribeye steak, halibut and a cheeseburger. Everything was excellent. The appetizers were very good with a wide variety of meat and cheeses. The focaccia was fabulous. It is individually baked and so soft and flavorful. My husband's steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. Lastly, my halibut was the best I have ever had, tender with a light sauce over couscous. All three times we were too full to have dessert. The decor and ambiance of the restaurant is very lovely and upscale. We truly enjoyed dining at The Plank. The only thing that we would suggest is more options on the menu. read more

I visited the Plank House for the first time, expecting a higher price point, which was indeed the case. While the food was delicious and lived up to its reputation, I can only rate my experience with two stars due to the poor service. Dining on the veranda offered a stunning view of the sunset over the water, but the wait for the waiter was excessive, and there was no proper napkin setup; I received only bar napkins. When I requested the heaters to be turned on, the waiter seemed clueless and did not make an effort to assist, forcing me to seek help from the hostess myself. The waiter only appeared to deliver my food, and I was left without a fork, having to ask twice for one. Given that the restaurant was not busy, the level of service was disappointing, especially for a $56 meal consisting of soup and salad. Unfortunately, the service I experienced will deter me from returning, despite the quality of the food. read more

It's over priced. They seem to cater to tourists because locals probably won't go back. The view is nice the tables were poorly designed. They are too big chairs are too heavy to move and if you sit in a booth the waitress can barely reach. Had a crab shrimp salad. Crab tasted like canned and they used arugula lettuce which I do not care for in a Louie. Friend had salmon was just ok. Husband had chicken that was dry. I think there was one string bean. Service was good waitress was great. This was second time and only friend wanted to celebrate 80 bday. We will not go back. read more

About an hour before we were served our drinks. All we ordered was appetizers. I think it has potential but they need to do something about the staff. This clean, quiet restaurant is tucked away in the back of the Mills Casino. The Mrs & I loved that their restaurants have a separate entrance so you don't have to walk thru the smoky, bell-clanging, beeping & chime ringing casino. We were taken to a table next to a wall of windows that had a wonderful view & in a matter of seconds had placed our order. The service was friendly & I'm sorry, but I couldn't read the ladies name on her ID card hanging around her neck. However, our meals were just okay. I had the scrambled eggs & biscuits covered with sausage gravy with hash browns. Honestly, it was barely warm. The Mrs went with bacon & eggs with hash browns covered in gravy. Hers was also lukewarm at best. We enjoy food served that is hot & steamy. The service & the atmosphere were wonderful, but, you go to a restaurant for the food. read more

We visited this restaurant for about a week during our stay for The Mill High Tide Tattoo Festival. The service was amazing. We were promptly seated as soon as we arrived. The view is beautiful with the bay in the background. The employees were all very attentive and knowledgeable. They checked on our table often. Mari was our favorite server, due to her pleasant demeanor. The food was very good. We ate breakfast here the most but also had a delicious pizza to go. All of our food was very fresh and we were allowed to customize our orders. This was by far our favorite restaurant. read more

We ate here while staying at the hotel. The service by Jared was exceptional! He was gracious offered wonderful wine recommendations and did not steer us wrong. The shrimp scampi was so delicious I had it two nights in a row! I cannot express what wonderful service we received from everyone in the restaurant. It was "meh". Overpriced for what you are getting and the quality. Ambiance and atmosphere was right for the price point. Did have a more limited menu that photos I've seen. Which is fine. Nicer places usually have a rotating and changing menu. But a $42 rib eye (14oz) that I could do at home better was a disappointment. Severer messed up multiple times. One person ordered a potato with butter and sour cream. Got the mixed butter with chives. Had the minestrone soup with my meal that was "gluten free". Recover with noodles and croutons in it. Obviously not gluten free. So traded with someone who got salad they didn't like. Then steak came. With butter on top. Despite saying it at least 3 times that I have to be gluten and dairy free. She apparently only ever listened to the gluten part. Server was nice. But not good at following instructions. Steaks we're cooked about right for medium rare which is good. But there's got to be better places to eat a $42 steak then this in town. Sorry to see it was rated so high. I've had much better meals at much less expensive places. $3 for a coffee was ridiculous as well. We ate breakfast the next morning and is much better. Prices still high for what you get. Worst Thanksgiving experience ever. Last year a friend and I had thanksgiving dinner in the restaurant at noon. She had the turkey dinner and I had a prime rib dinner. I am allergic to turkey so can't eat it. My dinner was delicious and all good. I made reservations for this year because it was such a nice dinner and setting. This year, my friend got her turkey dinner and I was informed I needed to order off the lunch menu which consists of sandwiches and salads. Not sure why the big change, but it kind of ruined Thanksgiving for me to eat a salad with an overcooked piece of salmon on top. read more

We were looking for a place to have a nice steak dinner...my niece recommended Plank House at the Mill Casino; we decided to give the place a whirl...we're sorry we did! The menu was skinny bordering on anorexic. They only had 2 steak dinners to offer. The steaks were small and the prices were over inflated; I'm talking one steak dinner was $42 bucks a head for a 12 oz. steak! At that price, I'd expect to be fanned and hand fed! Suffice to say we opted out of having steak and settled on other offerings. Their portions were as anorexic as their menu. The food was okay - but NOT for the astronomical prices they charge. Three Rivers Casino's Cafe has much better food for much better prices!!! The highlight of the evening was our server. She did terrific for being new. To get to the restaurant you have to go thru the casino. That's my only gripe. The smoke filled air is the reason. But service is great. Food is tasty. I had the garlic shrimp appetizer and it was really good. Portion was just enough for what I had in mind. Something lightweight! We also had the Dungeness crab salad. They didn't hold off on the crab meat in the salad. Awesome and very delicious! For dessert we had the chocolate cheesecake. It was perfect! Not too rich. I was in the mood to try their Tiramisu Martini. I will skip this next time. Too thick for my taste. The decor was almost like a ski resort like the main hotel. Warm and inviting. Inside the Mill Casino in Coos Bay, Oregon this is the most high end restaurant option. The calamari appetizer with the dinner roll, home made butter, and a cab sab red wine was so good! Formal table cloths, candel lit, and the staff went out of their way having people stay an hour past closing time; and did an extra happy birthday desert and song for a big family while I was there - and you could really tell they cared. There's fresh oysters and this is a great place to get seafood at the casino right on the water with that water front view! read more

Ok so my cousin brought me here talking up the burgers and I was not impressed not really for the burger but the worst service I've had anywhere!! Lunch time Bacon Avocado Burger 2 Clam Chowders Fried Calamari I got the avocado bacon burger medium rare and asked for extra sautéed onions no lettuce or pickles. What I revived after about 20 minutes waiting was a plain cheese burger over cooked but they got the onions right. I asked the waitress what was up where the avocado and bacon was she said she would be right back. 5 minutes later I was given a plate with a few slices of avocado and 2 tiny pieces of bacon on it!!! Lucky the manager was talking to us at the moment and remarked what was going on she told him they forgot to add everything together and he told the waitress to take it back and have them make it right as it was already cold by that time as well. She sighed and took it back. I then waited another 20-25 minutes tell the new burger came!! With my cousin and his wife eating there clam chowder and fried calamari of course they felt bad because they had talked up this place to receive this kind of service. Was shocking to them. The clam chowder was slightly cold for my cousins wife. I finally received my correct order the medium rare I asked for was more like medium almost done very little pink to be found. The house made bun was the best part. The flavor of the burger was decent nothing overly special. The fries were good they gave me a hefty portion I guess to make up for the mess up. All together worst waitress I've had she seemed like she was unhappy to be working on a Saturday!! And didn't care about time. Will not be going back for sometime if at all. read more

By far one the worst experience of my life. Took wife out to dinner and decided to give this restaurant a try, WRONG. Ordered calamari adequate, ordered salad,on menu showed iceberg lettuce they had NONE, Wife ordered lamb shank, very fatty but good flavor, ordered shrimp scampi WOW. In my 50+ years in the kitchen, never have I seen nor tasted a scampi like this: No flavor, nor seasoning, no tomatoes,no Italian parsley and little cheese. Terrible. The service was very nice. Was hoping for homemade halibut fish and chips, and got what looked like frozen fish sticks drenched in grease. Don't let the price tag trick you into thinking this is fine dining, because it's not and it's just inflated prices. Also, my salad was all wilted. Absolutely the best Crab Benedict I've ever had! We were camping in the Mill Casino RV lot for the Freighliner Chassis Owners Club Rally, so we were at the Plank House for lunch several days in a row. I also had the best Crab and Avocado Omelette ever! I liked it so much, I chose it again on the next day. My sweetie was very pleased with his choices, too. He chose a chicken sandwich, a hamburger and the triple meat-triple cheese omelette on successive days. The window seating view of Coos Bay is calming and beautiful. It was fun to watch the boats come and go. Service was always friendly and attentive. The decor of the hotel lobby is very woodsy and comfortable, but it really doesn't carry into the restaurant. read more

We have been going to the Plank House for many years. It started out nice but has declined over the years. Their new menu is very short on product. One steak offering at $45.00. Two pasta offerings at around $30.00 One salmon and a couple of other things to order. Not much of a choice. They are WAY overpriced and the food is now mediocre at best. The staff are all very young and there obnoxiousness shows it. We waited 10 minutes to get seated. WOW there were a whole five tables with folks at them. Where was the hostess??? BSing with the servers. After being seated, and waiting 28 minutes while two other couples came in and were served, we asked where our sever was as we had yet to talk to one. The person said I'm sorry and walked back to there station and sat down. We went through three employees with the same answer and results. We did notice that there were 3 servers for the six tables. Two tables per server, a hostess, and a busser. We asked for the manager and got the same from this very young looking girl. The only thing they did say is that we were rude for complaining about there service. Needless to say, we went elsewhere. We will never be going back as they were the rudest staff we have ever encountered. Folks, don't waist your time or money on the Mill Casino's Plank House restaurant. It is now the biggest waist of money. Overpriced and the worst staff in Coos County, Oregon. I am giving it one star, only because I have to give it to write this review. It is worth a minus 10 stars. By the way, it may not bother you, but their hostess has plenty of facial jewelry. But it does have a nice view of the river! This place is hit and miss. Today was more of a miss according to my Grandma. She ordered the crab, which I cracked for her like a pro! She mentioned that it lacked flavour, and was a tad bit fishy. With a pricey dish like dungeoness crab, it should be amazing. I tasted it, and wasn't impressed either. I had an Omelette, which was fine. The server was a sweetheart. Another upside was my Sister went out into the casino and turned $5 in to $150 in a matter of 5 minutes. Stopped by The Mill Casino for dinner and elected to try The Plank House right by the boardwalk. Unfortunately, it was growing dark due to the late hour, so the lovely view of the water was not visible, but we were greeted by light and airy music, brisk and friendly service. There was a good variety of items on the menu, and to my delight, a special menu of lighter fare, including half portioned pasta. Perfect! I ordered that with fettuccini, marinara sauce, and added chicken. My boyfriend chose the 3 piece fish and chips with a side of clam chowder. During our reasonable wait, we were served tasty bread rolls. We found the portions to be somewhat generous and filling. The food was attractive, piping hot, and comfortingly tasty. My boyfriend especially enjoyed the clam chowder. The pricing was very reasonable, we both left full and satisfied, and our bill was just shy of $25. read more

$ 4.99 breakfast special is legit! Our family of four tried all 4 of the specials. We had the steak and eggs, the 2x2x2, the 3 cheese omlette and the breakfast burrito. Generous portions and the food was delicious! Definitely a bargain and the staff is super friendly. read more

The steak was chewy, the veggies were partially frozen still, didn't get one refill on my drink and we were told because our birthdays were just a day apart that they would sing for us and do dessert, then the guy came and said Nevermind he didn't wanna do it because it wasn't our actual birthday and also didn't even give the dessert THEY offered. We had an excellent experience at the Plank House. Our group sampled everything from the wine, mixed drinks, multiple appetizers and entrees, and desserts. They were all fabulous. The views of the bay are amazing. The service is top notch, and the food quality is really really good. it is far beyond what we were expecting and we have had some amazing dining experiences all over the US and Europe. We thought we were just grabbing dinner in a casino while visiting the Oregon coast, but instead were treated to an amazing culinary experience and service as good as anything you will experience anywhere. The service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing; however, the food was not very good. 2 in our party had soup/salad, and their claim chowder was very bland; I had the chicken alfredo, and it just pasta and flour, and the chicken was not good; the best was the shrimp Louis salad, as the shrimp was fresh and plentiful. I greatly appreciate that the Plank House is back open and we can, once again, support the community. So under that lens, I would return. But this used to be a really great restaurant. But now they are only open select days with a limited menu, and unfortunately it's just not very good. read more
