Cute cafe in the Camarillo Outlets. We sat in a comfy booth, and there were plenty of tables on a Thursday morning. Our waiter was Leo, an experienced server with a good sense of humor. Coffee was good. I liked that he left us our own carafe of coffee. Servings were well-portioned and decorated with fresh orchids -- a nice touch. I enjoyed my simple breakfast of eggs, bacon and hash browns. Toast was fine, but I didn't care for the spread on it. My friend's spinach omelet with home potatoes was a beautiful sight. The prices do not match the quality at all. Everything tasted like it came straight out of a can completely lacking flavor and care. They try to dress the plates up by adding purple flowers for the aesthetic, but it doesn't improve the taste whatsoever. My mom ordered the chilaquiles and the chips were already soggy when they arrived, with zero flavor. The meat was dry not even chewy or tough just an unpleasant texture, honestly similar to hair texture. The beans tasted exactly like canned beans. My dad ordered a skillet and only ate the eggs and tortilla. Everything else on the plate was burnt. The taste was so bad it reminded me of burnt plastic no seasoning, no balance, nothing. For the prices being charged, we expected much better quality and execution. Eating out as a family should feel worth it, and unfortunately this experience was beyond disappointing. Clean, friendly and great food. Sorry we didn't take a picture. Food came and it looked so good and smelled delicious! You cannot go hungry, there was so much food. Do you want American style or Mexican style, they got you! My husband straight to the pancakes, eggs, hashbrowns and meat. I went for the Chorizo and eggs. Stopped by Loru's Cafe early and had a fantastic experience. I ordered a fresh cup of coffee, which was just what I needed to kickstart my day, and a steak omelette that was cooked perfectly. Amazing menu full of variety! You can't possibly pick anything wrong on the menu and we had a range of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options for everyone in our party. Everyone got something that they loved and we shared. Cam (I believe) was our server and they were so quick to attend to us. Didn't bother us too much and talked to us at the right times too! I thought that the bathroom needed a deep clean though but I can understand that they're busy since it's brunch on a Sunday. Would come again if I'm in the area! read more

Went to the Taco Tuesday for second time the following week because of the great experience the first time...and we were given a great and sad surprise...the taco price went up drastically from $1.50 to $2.50 each. This spot is located at the outlets, they have indoor and outdoor seating. It is not as loud which its nice for lunch time. We got out food pretty quick. They offer a kids menu in case you are going with kids. Good portions. Food was tasty. In my season where I am embracing, self time. And what better to enjoy what used to be uncomfortable or lonely are the best of times now as a meal alone (also waiting for car to charge).I entered into @lorucafe by myself to be greeted immediately by the hostess with a warm greeting and quickly sat. Harriet was immediately taking my order and throughout my dining was checking in with me. I witnessed another waiter, Leo, informed a little girl unfortunately there was no more orange juice; however, 20 minutes later saw the orange juice machine was refilled and was over quickly to the little girl remembering her previous request. Such a little gesture brought a smile to the girl. Every employee to the young man busing tables (Alexis-Alex) wearing a smile to the other waiters/waitress helping one another. Such a family feel! When at the Camarillo outlets, we wanted to have breakfast and found this restaurant. What a great surprise. We ordered the Machaca and eggs plate, spinach scramble, crepes sampler, and chicken and waffles. The food was delicious and service was fast. I think it could have been seasoned more, but not terrible to say the least. The wait time to get a table was not too bad. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. They have an extensive menu and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Overall, a solid choice for some good Mexican American dinner food. We will definitely be back. Happy Nom Nom! read more

Great little restaurant inside Camarillo outlets. If you and your party can't decide what to eat and are in the area, this is a great option. It has a little bit of everything available. They offer all day breakfast lunch and dinner - from American style to Mexican style. I had gotten the ribeye steak & shrimp and it was good. For the price of $32 you get a decent size steak, 6 medium sized shrimps, and your choice of two signature sides. If you order sitting lunch or breakfast hours anything potato won't be readily available yet. The steak I got I ordered medium rare but was given well done. However the shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned. It had hints of Cajun seasoning and garlic. Boyfriend got the pot roast dinner and I highly recommend this dish. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned, large portion of pot roast, and if you are provided garlic bread, try making a pot roast garlic toast sandwich. Definitely worth the wait as the seating is limited indoor and outdoor, but service is quick and very friendly always checking in and making sure we have everything we need. read more

Menu looked great, wait was short as the stores hadn't opened yet, and both indoor and outdoor seating options were available and a major plus. Loru's Cafe is fabulous and please don't sleep on this place! With this cafe being located in the outlet I wasn't as keen on coming here just because of the location and assuming the food wouldn't be so stellar given that usually outlets have so so food options. I was mistaken though because this spot is a solid 5/5 all day long! I came with some friends on the weekend for breakfast. Lorus is definitely growing in its popularity and it was busy by 10am on a Saturday. Thankfully we were able to score a table for four without waiting but I think any later there could have been a small wait. Glad to see this spot is busy! It's also nice here as they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was fantastic throughout our dining experience. They do a really good job of keeping the drinks replenished and the food came out surprisingly fast for how busy this spot was. All of the wait staff and servers were very friendly and hospitable. You can tell they value your business here and even more so a reason to come back. I love a ginormous menu and Lorus doesn't disappoint. Plenty of breakfast and lunch options on the menu to peruse. I was especially impressed with their Mexican breakfast options and knew I had to try out their chilaquiles. Steak chilaquiles 5/5: I opted for the red sauce and an over easy egg. Perfection. Also adding the steak as an upgrade made the dish, super filling but the steak was juicy and cooked to a perfect medium rare center. I've been dreaming about this dish since having it, I have to come back and a sure recommend if you are a chilaquiles lover like myself. Bloody Mary 5/5: this drink was huge and delicious! They don't skimp on the toppings and the extra crispy bacon was a nice touch. Definitely Instagram worthy with a show stopping look that had heads turning as it made its way to my table. My friends all liked their food as well and noted that everything was cooked to perfection. We were all happy campers and for about $35 for a large cocktail and breakfast plate I'd say not too bad as everything was delicious and I went all out adding the extra proteins and such. You definitely need to give this spot a try for a weekend brunch. It's an awesome "newer" restaurant at the outlets and don't let that detour you from giving this spot a try. read more

Not a great experience. The service provided was mediocre, and while the food came out relatively quickly, it wasn't that great. We heard another waitress mention the specials and the bottomless mimosas, but our server, Leo, didn't say any of that. In fact, he was subtly rushing us to order when it was clear we were still looking. Finally, he brought the check, placed it on the table, and THEN asked if we wanted anything else. I was very pleasantly surprised by Loru's! I got the breakfast burrito with a side of pumpkin pancakes. That burrito was STUFFED, I only ate half of it; crispy outside thanks to the cheese. The pumpkin pancakes were delicious, but I wish they didn't put the syrup on it already because it made it too sweet and it was soggy by the time I tried it. Make sure to ask for syrup on the side if you want to control how much there is. It was my first time, to eat at Loru's. It seems like a popular place because the place was full. Seating didn't take too long since there were only two of us. The food was good. I enjoyed the omelet I ordered. The only thing was because of so many people and maybe where we sat. The service took longer. As far as waiting for a waitress/ waiter to take our orders, waiting for the food, and afterwards to have someone take our payment. We couldn't find our waitress ,but to be fair she did stop once to ask how we were doing, I also noticed towards the end she was busy working the coffee station. A very busy popular place. We've driven by Loru's for years and never gone in. We finally did for breakfast and what a find! It' had a charming mission decor and the inside is packed a little tighter than I might like, but there is plenty of friendly service and amazing food to make up for it. They have an expansive menu that is almost overwhelming, but it's clear each item should be there and is delicious. There are so many options everyone can find something they will love. My son ordered the Loru's Combo with the cinnamon roll French toast. OMG...he loved it and I have to agree. Perfect texture and cinnamon flavor. A must order again My husband enjoyed the Machaca with over easy eggs...perfection! Not a smidge left on the plate. The best item was the Chiliquilles Divoriciados. Wow! Both red and green sauce with beans, eggs and crispy creamy hashbrowns were out of this world and the table agreed. That is a must order again! Pair this with a mimosa and you're in business! What a delightful brunch cafe! We decided to eat here without much thought, and I was pleasantly surprised. Their eggs benedict were simply perfect, and they had just introduced a mazapan pancake that I hope sticks around. It was a lovely day, so we sat outside, and despite it being packed, the noise was low enough to comfortably carry a conversation. The waiting staff was kind, friendly, and helpful, but they seemed a little troubled with the work load on that day. They forgot a couple items and we had to remind them when it became evident our food was not just delayed. Whoever made their online menu should be fired -- redundant, disorganized, a waste of time. Checked in and was told 15 minute wait -- turned into 45. Sat down and waited 10+ minutes for a waiter to serve coffee and take our order. Food chunks, half-and-half containers, straw wrappers and other trash all over the floor. Watched an employee wipe off the tables and just pushed everything onto the floor. Finally flagged down a waitress and she (Harriet) said whoever was assigned our table must not have realized it. She helped us although not her table. She did a great job. Food took a long time. My wife asked for crispy bacon -- it was served limp. She ordered her eggs over easy -- they were sunny side up. Her toast was cold. My French toast was tasty but totally cold. We were both tempted to send our meals back but it had been so long for our breakfast we just ate it anyway. Came on a Saturday since it is next to the new Tesla supercharger in Camarillo. It was quite busy, but didn't have to wait long. Service was generally good, but the food was nothing spectacular. It absolutely pains me to write this; I thought I had already reviewed Lorus on Google and it turns out my original reviews were through Facebook and Yelp. Those reviews were glowing- we've been going here since they opened, years upon years. I've even recommended them to out of town guests, clients, friends, and family- we've watched the prices from the burritos go from $14 to $19+ and are absolutely happy to pay for the cost of the times for what has always been great food, portions, and service- Heck, I've even been there on holidays, its one of my favorite local places. Bit we've had 2 negative experiences in years and dozens of great ones and the denominator seems to be when management serves rather than staff. It got us again today and we were dumbfounded, it was so clear we were being served by someone who was not a server and had absolutely 0 customer service or need to get it right in their mind. We ordered 1 breakfast burrito with sugar free syrup for the pancakes and 1 Chorizo omelet, sub soyrizo. It felt simple enough but it went horribly wrong. My father's omelet arrived to the table and it was clear it was made half and half, or "add" something because we could see a pile of soy risotto on top of one end, and the strangest looking fried pork curl like item on top of the other end. Without thinking my father went to grab the curly looking fried thing and put it in his mouth, before questioning. He quickly spit it out realizing he wasn't sure what he was eating. We calmly and quietly waited for the gentleman serving us (middle aged, facial hair, blacka and white silk Hawaiian style dress shirt) to pass back by and inquired what the fried curly object was. "Chicharones" he said matter of factly. My father and I sat in silence. It felt like forever for my Dad to put together a response, " But this is supposed to be a chorizo omelet with soyrizo. I can't even find the fajita veggies that come in the regular chorizo omelet" The employee serving us didn't seem to understand the issue and asked, "would you like me to get you the veggies on the side?" My father shot me a glance so painfully trying to find a polite way to unwrap the miscommunication that must be occurring and tried to remind the server. "But I ordered a chorizo omelet with sorizo. People who order soy meat don't usually want to eat chicharones." The employee still seemed to not understand the gravity of the error, or perhaps even the error- "they're really busy back there, what would you like, i can get you some veggies to go with it." My father, such a champ, as simply as possible repeated his order and asked for that, "I'd like the chorizo omelet sub soyrizo, how it would normally come." The employee, again, not apologetic, still seeming confused as to what was actually wrong, "okay, I'll have it remade." And proceeds to take the plate off the table, so my father didn't even have his hash browns to eat on while he stared at me and my food (no sugar free syrup for me) - at this time the restaurant had now become full capacity and it was a near 20 minute wait for his replacement food. I slowly ate my food so it wouldn't get cold, and when my father's replacement meal arrived it was clear the hashbrowns (he could've eaten fresh) were kept under a warmer and re fried at last moment, extra crispy. We weren't exactly sure what he was eating in the end as it looked incredibly sloppy and as you can imagine we were very confused by what had transpired- particularly because as the server dropped the replacement dish off he said "there's veggies in there, they might be small, because they shrink " indicating to us there might still be massive confusion over what the actual problem was. We finished our meals, I boxed my pancakes which never got their sugar free syrup because the server never asked to refill our drinks or check in on us beyond the flag down over the pork fried chicharones on a vegetarian omelet fiasco. When the check arrived nothing had been adjusted off the bill. Well, okay, you serve a customer ordering vegetarian protien substitute pork fried food (which could be a vegetarian issue, a religious issue, a healthy issue or all of the above) then you take their entire plate away and make them wait 20 more minutes to eat. Dont offer to get them something like a small salad to eat while waiting, don't offer to remake their guests food so they can eat it hot, don't even leave their stinking hash browns to nibble on, THEN you still have the cahones to charge full price. But guess what. The receipt says CHICHARONES omelet sub Soyrizo. So it wasn't even rang in right by the server (we suspect was an owner or manager because they certainly acted like they were not in it for a tip and only cared about bottom line over customer experience.) Shame on management for so clearly not prioritizing the customer when they so clearly are the issue. Leave the serving to your awesome servers, stop ruining the Lorus brand! read more
