A delightful late lunch at Shark Bar & Grill in Central Falls proved to be a true celebration of Peruvian cuisine! From the moment the dishes started arriving at the table, it was clear that this kitchen takes pride in bold flavors, fresh ingredients & beautifully prepared classics. The appetizer menu was simply too tempting to choose just one item, so we decided to order a variety to share which was an excellent decision on our part because every bite was outstanding! We started with the Chicharrón de Calamar, perfectly crispy breaded calamari that had a satisfying crunch without being heavy. It was served with banana peppers & a trio of sauces that elevated the dish even further. The sauces included a vibrant green spicy sauce with just the right kick, classic ketchup & a creamy dressing reminiscent of thousand island. Each one complemented the calamari in a different way, making every bite a little adventure. Next came the Ceviche de Marisco: fresh seafood marinated in a tangy citrus lemon sauce with herbs & spices, served with sweet potatoes, onions & corn. The seafood was marinated in a tangy citrus lemon sauce creating that signature refreshing ceviche flavor & beautifully balanced with the veggies which are traditional accompaniments that added sweetness & texture. Another standout was the Causa Rellena de Pollo: mashed potatoes marinated in aji amarillo with a filling of chicken salad, mayonnaise, fresh avocado & black olive. This dish was as visually appealing as it was delicious! For the main dish, we shared the Lomo Saltado, a classic that never disappoints. Tender stir-fried chicken was tossed with chopped onions & tomatoes in a savory soy-based sauce, creating that irresistible balance of Latin & Asian influences that Peruvian cuisine is known for. I am honestly surprised that Shark's doesn't have a higher rating, because it is one of my favorite restaurants in Providence. I have been here on multiple occasions myself and have introduced many of my friends to sharks. The staples that we always end up getting the appetizer trio (calamari, ceviche, paella), lomo saltado. Other items I've enjoyed are the fried sweet maintains, Yuka fries, there Peruvian Chinese fried-rice. I would say their portion sizes are amazing for the taste and price. In terms of drinks, they usually have a fun selection of Peruvian beers that you don't often get to sample. They have very good cocktails especially the pisco sours (try the Moarado one - Peruvian purple corn). The other reason I love Shark's is the huge parking lot and tons of seating, so I have never had to wait even without a reservation. In terms of ambulance, it's not as fancy/romantic as some of the other Peruvian restaurants in town, but I would highly recommend this place as a good-value, no-frills option! read more

Food - I ordered the octopus with steamed vegetables it was very good, made fresh!! I also ordered the lychee margarita it was delicious Service - unfortunately the service was very poor. We only seen our waiter twice and anytime we needed something we had to bother another server thankfully they were very kind about assisting us. The food also took 45-1hour to come out Ambiance- beautiful atmosphere and very big, they have a huge bar, outdoors is a beautiful large patio right over the river you can see the river boat take others on a tour. read more

Sharks has been on my radar for quite a while and we finally made it here for dinner friends earlier this week. Being a Wednesday night, it was quiet when we arrived for our 6pm reservation, but I believe the large sized restaurant can get pretty full on weekends, especially when there is live music. The cocktail menu was full of old favorites and some Peruvian specialties, and I chose a Pisco Sour, which was perfect for a hot summer evening. For an appetizer, we shared a plate of fried fish and fried cassava. The fish was nicely breaded and the cassava were absolutely delicious. The dish came with two types of dipping sauces, which were flavorful and complemented the fish & cassava nicely. I ordered the Lomo Saltado entree, and not only was it delicious, it was beautifully displayed as well. The portion size was generous and I enjoyed my leftovers for lunch the next day, finding it even better than it was the night before because the sauce's flavors had permeated throughout the rice and fries. We were too full for dessert, but I would love to return to Sharks and will be sure to save room next time. As for the vibe of the restaurant, the dining room is large and attactgively decorated with dark wooden tables and chairs. One wall has a beautiful mural on it, and there is also a full bar. Sharks offers outdoor seating on a patio overlooking the Blackstone River, and if it had been a cooler night, we would have enjoyed dining al fresco. Service was prompt and our food was prepared in a timely fashion. We never felt rushed throughout our dinner, which was great since we hadn't seen our friends in quite awhile and we had a lot to catch up on. We love coming to sharks! One of my Peruvian friends introduced me to this restaurant, and we have now been multiple times and it has been great each time! First of all, love that they have a parking lot, so it's easy to find parking. The restaurant itself is unassuming and quite large with a lot of seats, so you will always find a seat, no matter when. Food wise, I always love getting the trio of seafood, because it has everything that I would want and appetizers, such as ceviche, calamari, and paella. It's also a great deal. Otherwise, I know it's basic, but I love the lomo saltado. I feel like they do it really well here with a huge portion and an amazing balance of flavors, fries, rice, meat. We've also got the chaufa here before and have loved it as well, a great Peruvian-Chinese combination. Drinks, wise, we love getting their pisco sours. They are occasionally on the heavier pour side (which we love), but always delicious. Also love that they have mocktails available as well. Large portions mediocre food Ambiance on the deck overlooking the Blackstone River very nice. Service was poor we had to wait over an hour for main course to arrive. Appetizers were not good, the fried squid was too heavily breaded and too chewy, overcooked. The mussels on half shell were too full of chopped onions and tomatoes and the taste of mussels was lost. Main course was very very large, my friend had fried chicken with an almond sauce and mixed vegetables and fruit. Sauce was good chicken was very tough. I'm glad we checked out this spot in Central Falls. It's located right next to the Blackstone River. There's plenty of seating inside, and it is excellent for families and kids. Everything was clean. We came here for lunch on a weekend. We got the causa relleno de pollo, bistec a lo pobre, pechuga al grill, and the ceviche mixto. Everything was really good, and the portion sizes were quite significant. The potatoes in the chicken causa were seasoned well and it was quite filling. The grilled chicken and the steak were cooked well, and tasted delicious. I also got a side of yucca fries that went well with the green sauce they gave initially. My family came to Shark's for my mom's birthday dinner. We started with the calamari and fried shrimp as appetizers. I really loved the calamari with the spicy banana peppers - lightly battered, right amount of seasoning. I felt like it could have had a dipping sauce but it wasn't necessary. We all ordered a variety of mains but I couldn't even get pictures how quickly everyone gobbled up their food! My mom really enjoyed the Filete de Pescaso Frito - the fish was HUGE and fresh. She liked the tangy onion salad. My youngest sister ordered off the kids menu - she really liked the Salchipapas - fries chopped hot dogs with fries. She noticed some of the hotdogs were cut into cute octopus shapes. I don't recall the name of my other sister's dish but it was fried fish chunks with yuca fries and she ordered a side of sweet plantain. I ordered the lomo saltado - I received a HUGE portion and I loved the stir fried flavors. When the food came out, my aunt immediately started asking for to go plates - we knew we wouldn't finish it all. We deeply appreciated all the space inside the well- lit restaurant and the huge parking lot. We had one little hiccup when we were there - my food came out about 10-15 min later than the rest of my family's. When the waiter realized his mistake, he comped us some delicious drinks - wine and a Pina Colada. I didn't love the music playlist - it seemed random - not modern, not Top40, nor Peruvian/ Latin music. I went to the Blackstone River Explorer Tour and as a thank you for riding, they allow you to use your receipt for 10% off at sharks since the businesses are side by side. It gave me an excuse to try this restaurant since I believe it's relatively new. The outside of the building is beautiful, and I love the white and black contrast. The outdoor seating is also perfect since it does overlook the river. However, I was not too impressed with the inside. I was expecting the ambiance to match the modern vibe the outside gave but it looked plain, with red carpet and thick legged wooden tables and chairs. It did have high ceilings which was a highlight. One thing we were disappointed in was the complimentary starter they give. It's a plate with a little sauce cup filled with cancha, another with a green sauce, and another with tartar sauce. The problem was that I guess we were expected to share 20ish cancha among a table of 5 which was odd and did not come with any silverware. I would expect a larger portion for a larger party (parties of 2 were getting the same portion). I will say the green sauce was very good, with the perfect spice level and flavor. I ordered the seafood rice and my mom ordered the Jalea so we'd be able to share it. We were a bit confused on the difference between the two different kinds of seafood rice on the menu but we went with the "Arroz on Mariscos" instead of "Arroz a la Norteña con Mariscos." I'm used to getting a yellow sauce (I think aji Amarillo sauce) with my seafood rice at other Peruvian restaurants but this rice did not come with it and it appears they don't make it here since I asked and they brought out Huancaina instead so that was disappointing. The rice was decent in flavor but the serving size was big which made up for it. The Jalea was good, and contained a variety of seafood, but I did wish it came with more squid tentacles. It came with tartar sauce for a dip but I would have preferred something different, more fresh. The prices are around the same price as other places. There is more than enough parking and it is in a nice location so you could go on a walk along the bridge after dinner to walk off the food. read more

First time dining here. It's a very large dining room. The music was lively and a bit loud, but fun. In warmer weather this place must rock- there is a large deck to eat on right on the Blackstone River. The food selection was huge, as were the servings- the prices were very fair. Ok the place is huge for this "type" of restaurant, but it sits on the water the river and while it was raining while we were there it has a great deck for outdoor seating love to try it again when the weather's nice. But onto the food there are a lot of Latin selections but there are definitely some great Peruvian selections started with an appetizer of the potato with the cheese sauce, lucky my colleague is Peruvian so he knew to order that I highly recommend it so simple yet amazing. I had a fish dish, the entire fish it is fried but the way it's done is so delicious inside, I highly recommend it he had a beef dish which absolutely loved and the portions are huge definitely for sharing. My brother and I attended the Inaugural game of the RI Football Club in Pawtucket. It was kinda a boring game with no goals scored, but we worked up an appetite for dinner. My brother recommended going to Sharks Peruvian Cuisine in Central Falls. It was a large open spaced room with a beautiful mural of Machu Picchu covering an entire wall! Our waiter was professional and polite but appeared to have a hard time understanding us! We put in our steak orders then waited an hour for our meals to arrive! The long wait was extra frustrating with the continued loudness of the customers! It was actually difficult to carry a conversation! My brother ordered a Rib Eye medium rare ....it was cooked well done...but he said it was still good! My meal was a disaster! I ordered Bistec a la Pobre, deep fried steak with French fries, sweet plantains, avocado slices & white rice with a fried egg on top! The rice with the egg on top was actually very good! The deep fried steak and the plantains were like the ancient Inca's term called "ashlar" referring to the dry stone walls they made the buildings from! The steak was also flavorless, overcooked and unbelievably chewy like bazooka gum! The fries were soggy, horrible and flavorless! When the waiter dropped by and asked how everything was, I exclaimed that the meal was horrible!....His response was a thumbs up and a big smile, then quickly walked away!?!? We were visiting Rhode Island and our family wanted to take us to a Peruvian restaurant, they brought us to Sharks and it was a good experience. We started with some Pisco Sours and Chilcanos and were delicious! For starters, we ordered some Fried Yucca with Huancaina sauce and the yuccas were delicious! Huancaina sauce was a little too runny but still good. We also got the Chicken Causa and was really good. The Potato part was seasoned to perfection! For entrees, my boyfriend ordered the Lomo Saltado and it was huge! Great portions and the steak was really good, although the dish had a lot of tomatoes. I had the Veggie Chaufa and it was amazing! Huge portion and took half home. My aunt ordered the Jalea and it was also a lot! All entrees were great to share! My aunt loved the jalea there. My uncle had the ceviche and said it was so fresh! We definitely needed dessert and that was the most disappointing moment because they didn't have any Peruvian desserts. They had a Strawberry Cheese or a Carrot Cake... and supposedly there was a Crema Volteada in the making but who knows. So everything was great but that part. More like three and a half stars. I came here on a Saturday night with some friends to celebrate. Drink: pisco sour, pretty good Food: number one ceviche was excellent. Number two paella was blandn had no flavor. For dessert I had the jungle fruit mousse. It was okay Service: very friendly but very slow. Our drinks came after our entree. Not a big deal to me and I was about to cancel it but they finally arrive so whatever The portions are pretty big. The size of the place is pretty big. It looks like a converted house or banquet hall. They have outdoor parking which is nice. I still prefer Los Andes but this one wasn't too bad. read more

As an out of towner, specifically south florida visitor I can truly say Sharks lives up to all Peruvian cuisine. I have to admit I was skeptical at first, a Peruvian restaurant in central falls Good amount of parking space, the tricky part is the main entrance. They share it with another company called Explorer River Tours. Live music and amazing bar takes this place to the next level. I noticed they offered Piña Coladas and they knocked it out of the park. These days I'm an aficionado when it comes to this cocktail. I tend to order it anywhere it's offered. Let me tell you by leaps and bounds , the cocktail had an amazing mixture of rum and fruit. Very friendly wait staff made sure I didn't have only one...so we moved along to the entrées I went with the Chaufas with beef, by the way they plate all their dishes in this stylish glossy black design very high end looking. But back to my entrée i almost devoured the whole meal...but the star of the show was the Lomo Saltado my friends. Again keep in mind this guy here has had many many lomo saltados and this particular one had a burst of flavors. The meat was juicy and tender, the onions with cilantro dancing on top of the semi crispy fries made my day even though I didn't pick it as an entrée As for the co-stars the Leche De Tigre was enough for 2 and the flavors were jammed packed with lime juice. Last but not least the dessert tres leches was to top of a wonderful afternoon. There's no need to mention the obvious, beautiful deck but one really big take away besides the food and service was the big crowd management. After having a great meal at Sharks a few months ago we decided to go back. I follow them on IG and have seen some tasty looking meals. We were seated fairly quickly but no service for over 25 mins. We were given water and thats it. Our server never returned. I complained to the front desk but given the amount of volume they had for this Sunday night they did not care. CONSUMER ALERT!! I am writing this as a warning to other patrons who may want to dine at this restaurant. I went recently with some friends to this restaurant and we both had a horrific experience. Two of us ordered the seafood special ($50 each) and both of us were very sick exactly (2) hours later. Sorry for TMI, but we both experienced explosive diarrhea and vomiting as well as severe nausea ALL NIGHT. The food poisoning lasted (3) days and I was unable to work because of this illness. The ambience seemed nice at first, thought it would be a great choice but I will NEVER return to this restaurant again unless I want to possibly end up in the hospital. Also, to add insult to injury when we were leaving there were literally hundreds of gnats swarming the lights inside the entrance and exit of the restaurant and the bartender came around and sprayed something that caused the atmosphere to be filled with something that was uncomfortable to breathe on the way out. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! No one came to our table to take our orders. I had to keep flagging people down. We waited an hour for our water/drinks. The person who took our drink order never came back to our table and I had to flag someone to ask where our drinks were. They got the drink order wrong after an hour and we continued to wait and to place our food order. We ordered calamari for an app and when we finally got our calamari, they gave it to us, but neglected to give us utensils or plates. I stopped someone and ask for utensils and plates. We never got the plates. I asked for a manager and he never came. I once again had to flag someone down to put in our food order and then after waiting an hour for our food, part of my order came and my food was cold. I asked them to warm it up even though I was reluctant. After they "warmed it up" they brought it back and the food was still cold. My sister NEVER got her order. I went up to the receptionist and once again asked for a manager. They told me the manager couldn't come out because he was in the back working in the kitchen. UNACCEPTABLE! When I asked about my sister's food they told me that they no longer had what she ordered available. No one ever came to tell us this and they would've had her sitting there forever without telling her!???! I can go on and on, but I will NEVER ever ever go there again! Let's just say you definitely get your moneys worth at the Pawtucket location for one and Secondly the food is more flavorful as well. Drinks were good but the service was slow. I also agree with another reviewer on how this is suppose to be a more fancier version of there Pawtucket location and too serve bottle soda seems a bit tacky. Maybe will give it a second try for drinks and appetizers see how that goes. I hope they take these reviews with an open mind and try to fix some things, so they may prosper in the community.
