We arrived about 4pm, no wait seated right away. Was given chips and hot sauce by bus boy. We ate our entire bowl of chips before a waiter decided to approach our table. Horrible service, crispy chicken taco's very dry. The beans were cold, never did see the waiter again till I got up to go ask where to pay. What a GREAT restaurant!!! We always try to stop here on our way to Austin or the hill country. The portions are gigantic and the food is awesome!!! We always leave there full and take another meal home from leftovers. I had the stuffed avocado with chicken and it was delicious! Full of chunks fajita chicken and had a beef fajita too. My hubby had the relleno combo and it was SO much food we could have shared it. The staff is so friendly and attentive. I would give this place 10 stars if available!!! Our family of hungry road trippers were desperately looking for a decent lunch stop when we came across a large, crowded parking lot in front of Los Cabos. It seemed a good sign. Inside it was nicely kitted out, not your average hole-in-the-wall Tex-Mex joint. It was bustling and almost full. Another good sign. We were seated immediately, just past an in-house tortilla making station, and given complimentary chips, salsa and hot queso (yesssssss... why don't all restaurants do this?). The third lucky strike! Service was immediate, prompt and never let up throughout our visit. Water glasses were constantly topped up. Our chip bowl and condiments were replenished frequently. Our food tasted fresh and good. Servings were extremely generous: guacamole, crispy tacos with beef, soft tacos with fajita meat and chipotle sauce, shrimp Vallarta. The shrimp were large and didn't smell or taste "fishy", as can sometimes happen. Hungry as we were, still ended up taking home half of our meal... there was just so much! On the way out the door, we helped ourselves to complimentary soft-served cone ice-creams. We'll stop in again if we're ever looking for another satisfying Tex/Mex meal in the area. read more

Oh my gosh this is good Mexican food. I think about it often as I am sitting here across the country yearning for Tex Mex. Cabos started down the street in a much smaller facility (and called Guadalajara), and because of their fantastic food and service, they are where they are in a brand new building with a wait on most Friday nights. When I visit Columbus, Cabos is always on the list. Things that make this place great are: 1. The lady making homemade tortillas on a giant grill. 2. Abundant green sauce and salsa. 3. Fantastic fajita meat. 4. Rich and eggy chile rellenos. 5. Deep fried avocados with a side of tortilla soup. Last visit I got the "Mexico City" plate. So so so good. Fajita meat, chile relleno, and an enchilada with beans and rice on a sizzling platter. It was enough food for 2 or 3. If you go, you must get something with steak fajita meat. It's to die for. Texans have no idea how lucky they are, because I have yet to find steak fajita meat that comes anywhere close to this good in either the midwest or northwest. I've tried to recreate it, but have yet to. And eat all the green sauce you can!! Pour it on the rice, eat it with the chips, top your taco with it! Met a friend visiting Columbus TX and we decided to check out Los Cabos Mexican Grill. Good thing we did. Drinks were good, waitstaff was very attentive. After drinking a little bit we decided on our entrees. I got myself Chipotle Fajitas Beef with extra Jalapenos. Fajitas were really good. The restaurant got really busy but the service remained good. All in all the friend and I had a good time catching up with good drinks and good food. If I am in Columbus again I will dine here again. read more

Read the reviews and knew we had to try this place. Checked into our campground, got ourselves set up and met up with some friends. They suggested going out to a Mexican restaurant. I was so hoping it would be this one. Woohoo! It was. Ordered a house margarita while we perused the menu. A bit disappointed with them. I think they forgot the tequila. Chips, salsa and some other dip were placed before us. Good salsa, had some heat. Chips were light and not greasy. Not real sure what the other dip was. Very attentive wait staff. Our waters were never below half and the chips were replenished. Thumbs up. Orders were placed. One seafood enchilada plate, one enchiladas verde, one pork chop, and one platos locos. Food arrived in a timely manner. It was excellent! Pork chop meal consisted of two perfectly grilled chops on a sizzling platter with onions, guacamole salad, rice and beans. Seafood enchiladas, perfecto, served with rice and beans. Enchiladas verdes, not the tomatillo sauce you would expect. A creamy cilantro sauce served with rice and beans. The Plato loco consisted of one beef fajita taco, one pork tamale, one ground beef enchilada, one cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Only negative I can come up with is that that tamale was very small. Large portions, most everyone took home lunch for the next day. Am so glad we came here so early in our stay to the area. Literally the best tex-mex in all of Texas. Service is phenomenal. Their flour tortillas are homemade and served fresh and hot. Their queso is absolutely fantastic, but the real MVP is the beef fajitas. Whenever I go there I always get either the steak fajitas or the beef fajita chipotle tacos. Those are my top two recommendations. During lunch, you get free small cup of queso, and during the evening you get this wonderful creamy salsa verde. Needing a break after driving in rainy weather from Houston, I stopped here due to a friend's recommendation. His family has a farm in Columbus, which was a good pit stop city en route to Austin. This place to easy to find, and Google Maps' GPS is correct. Complimentary chips and queso are a part of the meal, which were a welcome sight when I arrived at my table! I ordered the Plato Loco, which has a bit of everything. It is also what my friend's wife usually orders, and her family's Mexican, so I will always go with what she eats at a TexMex place! My friend also recommended the fajitas. The Plato Loco includes a little bit of everything (which was also appealing) - a beef fajita taco, tamale, a cheese enchilada, a beef enchilada, refried beans, rice, sour cream, guacamole, and queso. I was only able to eat half! Overall I felt the enchiladas, beans, and rice lacked flavor. I VERY RARELY salt my food. I cannot even tell you the last time I did this at a restaurant, but I did today for this meal. I did not add a lot - just a few sprinkles, but it was enough to add taste to the food. I did not add salt to the guacamole (maybe I should have) since I don't like tainting avocados, but this was bland as well. For this, I give three stars. However, the tortilla for the taco was stellar. It's definitely homemade, and I regretted not ordering the fajitas. In addition, the tamale - OH EM GEE. It was fan-freaking-tastic, and I wish I had ordered this as a main entree too. I think if I had ordered the tamales or some sort of dish where tortillas are a big part of the meal, I would have had better results. Oh well, now I know for next time. My favorite part?
