The restaurant is new and you can definitely tell because the interior looks great and nicely decorated. Service was friendly but our food did take about 25 mins or so to come out. I think because this is a new spot, they might still be working some things out service wise. Once we did get it though, the pupusas were really good! Considering that this was their second day of opening day of their new location and is was excessively crazy full , and it looked like everybody that worked here was running around with their head cut off ! I guess mistakes were going to be made I called in my order was told that it would be 20 minutes so I got there 35 minutes later my order was still not done. Waited another additional hour and I was told that they had mistakenly given my order away!! To someone else by mistake their Manager came out and apologized. And so did a few of the workers. The manager refunded me my money for seven pupusas I had ordered and a large drink told me to wait an additional 15 minutes and my order would be complete because they made the effort of apologizing. I waited around another 15 minutes and honestly, it was worth it because the food here was really good. I would definitely wait a few weeks until coming back maybe by then things will ease up and won't be so crazy. My wife is a huge fan of pupusas . She grew up eating these and she said these were probably the best she's had in a while. The location is really clean Even though it was crazy full they have a lot of people on staff and ambience was normal. People just pretty much were waiting around to get their food. I would definitely recommend people to come out and give them a try. Grand opening weekend welcomed to Riverside. When lines form you know it's good. Line was forming out the door. Inside is clean, organized and filled with guests. Gave that old school mixed with modern touches. A variety of menu options besides pupusas. Corner location, Ample parking lot right in front. The food was absolutely delicious! We had the pupusas revueltas along with the horchata and maracuyá frescos, and everything was full of flavor and tasted amazing. The service was also wonderful, our waitress and Kevin were both incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. Genuine Salvadorian restaurant, from pupusas with queso con loroco, to yuca frita con chicharrón, Cola Champagne, to Salvadoran Horchata (con morro.) This place is a family oriented restaurant and is very welcoming. When you come in, you'll get the menu, order and pay ahead, you can either take it to go, or get a number and get a table. The food servers and very kind, and always checking if you need anything else. The owner was walking around, checking on people, and handing out coloring mats with crayons for the kids. I really love this place. They do have dessert! They have Salvadorian sweet bread like semitas and peperechas, among others (that I didn't get to taste.) They have a wide-screen TV, and we enjoyed watching a World Cup match as we dined. If you choose to listen to music, they have Touch Tunes with your favorite tunes. I had the mojarra plate with beans and rice. The mojarra was delicious and tender. My wife ordered un plato de desayuno y una pupusa. She enjoyed the plato de desayuno but wasn't satisfied with the pupusa. She had ordered a sweet bread before her main dish and said it was dry and tasted slightly stale. The cheese pupusa is greasy. But worse is the service. You nee to review the menu then get up to place order. Overpriced and Disappointing Customer Service. My family and I recently visited this restaurant and unfortunately had a very poor experience. Although we were greeted when we walked in, no one explained that customers needed to seat themselves, so we found a table on our own. After sitting for about five minutes without receiving menus, we had to get them ourselves. When we finally looked at the menu, we were surprised by the extremely high prices. Since the restaurant is new, we were still willing to give it a chance. However, shortly afterward, an employee rather abruptly informed us that all orders had to be placed at the register. At that point, we decided to leave. Before leaving, I spoke with the employee at the counter and explained that it takes less than a minute to let customers know they can seat themselves, provide menus, and explain the ordering process. Basic communication and customer service go a long way, especially when charging premium prices. Even great food can't always overcome a negative first impression. We ended up going to Pupuseria La Sierra, where we've been customers for years and have consistently had positive experiences. I also noticed that their pupusas are about a dollar less expensive, and their soups cost roughly $10 less while offering similar portion sizes. Based on my visit and the reviews I've read, the food here may be decent, but the combination of high prices and poor customer service makes it difficult for me to recommend. Upon entering, we were greeted by a cashier who informed us that we could choose our own seating. She provided us with menus, and another staff member brought us a bowl of cabbage along with utensils. However, we were then told that we needed to place our order at the front counter, which we found unusual since we were dining in. We went ahead and ordered at the front, though we did encounter a slight language barrier, as the cashier primarily spoke Spanish. Fortunately, one of us was able to communicate effectively. After placing our order, we returned to our table and waited for quite some time. During this period, several other customers arrived to dine in, but their experience differed from ours. They were attended to at their tables by a server who took their orders directly, rather than being asked to order at the front. This inconsistency in service felt unfair, especially as we were still waiting for our food and had not received any updates or apologies for the delay. We also noticed that the server communicated with those customers in Spanish, which made us feel that the level of service may have differed based on language. As a result, we felt overlooked and not valued as customers, despite placing a sizable order. When our food finally arrived, it was delicious and the portion sizes were generous. Unfortunately, the quality of the service did not match the quality of the food. We believe that all customers should receive consistent and attentive service, regardless of language. We arrived for lunch. Party of 2. Music was too loud we couldn't talk. We seated ourselves. But server was seating other guest. He was seating them at dirty tables. Other guests who arrived after we did and ordered way more than we did, received their food before us. That was strange. Our food took 50 mins. I understand it said to be freshly made. But the tamale was not hot. 1 of our pupusa was not hot either. The server was not helpful. Didn't check on his customers. He just handed out food to wrong customers, sat people down at dirty tables, ignored customers when called. Honestly, I felt the pupusas were too thick. Too much masa. They tasted undercooked. When I get there they tell me that their special of 3 pupusas and a drink for $7.99 was no longer available....but the social media ad said it was available for 3 days ? The worker said the owner had made an error....but how is that the customers fault? False advertising, why even place an ad like that if you can't commit to it and honor it ? I understand it's a grand opening and you would think the owner had plans in place to handle all the customers and craziness that comes with a grand opening but nope, it took over an hour to get out food. Food was okay but they had ran out of certain items. The fact that they didn't honor their advertised prices shows me they don't care about the customer. Amazing pupusas, well stuffed and not as greasy as the ones I've usually tried! They serve them super warm! Lovely place - it's clean and staff is very fast with greeting and serving! Customers first problem on arrival is the lack of signage. Do you take a seat at a table, do you order at the counter (where English is not spoken) and can you have a menu? The woman at the order counter seemed to want to be anywhere but there. When we arrived it was 11:45 and two tables were waiting for their order, zero meals were being eaten at the other two tables but they had empty drink glasses. We decided to join in on the waiting game. We ordered four different pupusas and two drinks in a can, never were offered a cup of ice, at least the drinks were cold. The flavorful and delicious pupusas, are why I'm leaving this review. Give this place a try ( maybe takeout would be a better choice) the food is delicious, and authentic. We recommend the food, but don't be in a rush to eat. We'll be back when we have time to kill. Glad to have this place in Riverside. They took a hour to give us our food and messed up our order and didn't give us the rest of our food. We ended up leaving. Not once did they bother to ask us if everything was ok with the order. We mentioned to the server our order had food missing and she said it would be out right away and they never brought the rest of the food to us.
