But the food seasoned good and everything was good food. They have everything you can think of meat options, seafood, soups. Nice portions and the staff was friendly. They have flavored margaritas that come in a shot capsule (see pic) and what I would HIGHLY recommend is the cantaritos!! It's a Mexican drink that comes in a clay pot mixed with tequila and grapefruit and served with a chamoy rim! Sooooo good! On my desperate endeavor to find an authentic Mexican Restaurant, and after multiple disappointing and failed attempts, Los Chilaquiles was recommended to me by a work contact. The overall vibe screamed contemporary, yet historical heritage-ish. The traditional warm yellow colors, that are often seen inside Mexican restaurants, provided a welcoming background for displaying Hispanic figures throughout the entertainment industries. The open, ceiling with black piping ushered in the contemporary vibe. Wall art of musical notes and movie reels accent the poster size photographs of Hispanic entertainers. It brought a sense of history, country pride, and authenticity to the feel. Now, moving on to the food. The salsa... y'all. I do not usually care for salsa, but their salsa was tasty. I ordered a few things to give myself a broader tasting experience. I started with their house made guacamole. It was delicious. The ingredients were fresh and the lime twang was well balanced with the sweet, aromatic cilantro. I also ordered a single tamale. Omg. It was absolutely satisfying. Even the beans were fantastic. The red sauce caught me off guard at first, but had this pleasant spice that I just couldn't resist. I'm stuffed, but my mouth is watering all over again. Is that gluttony?! Lol Next, 3 steak Gorditas with rice. The rice was yummy! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Gorditas were exceptional. Nice, crisp, and stuffed full of juicy goodness. I ate one cause I had explored the menu so much already... but am excited to have this experience again tomorrow!!! Service was also above par. I saw things on the menu I've never seen before and my waitress was knowledgeable and able to answer my questions. Their food is cooked fresh, so expect a 15 - 20 minute wait time as they emphasize that in their menu. If you want something quick and are accepting of low quality, as opposed to taking your time and enjoying the high quality Mexican food that Los Chilaquiles provides, then it won't be up your alley. Didn't even know this place was hidden in this strip mall. Its a nice spacious place with a small stage and found out they have a band weekly. The waiter which I'm sure is the owner was very nice and took my order promptly, was very patience because they have so many choices on the menu with very reasonable prices so it took me a minute to decide what i wanted... i finally decided on the chicken quesadillas which were very good, i also munched on my free salsa and chips. I honestly do not know how this place does not have a better overall rating. In my opinion, this is one of the best mexican restaurants in the city. - Its unique. The name says it all. Chilaquiles are a breakfast/brunch food in Mexico that this place specializes in. Think of a nacho like dish but so much better because the chips are made thicker and they top with different sauces other than just melted cheese. They do around a dozen different types of chilaquiles made to order with different sauces and your choice of meat or fried egg. They open at breakfast and serve their staple dish all day long. Most places in the city either do not have this dish or they have one style of the dish, which does not compare to this restaurant. They have other items too such as tacos, fajitas, sopes, enchiladas, tamales, etc but if you want the 5 star experience, then go with one of their chilaquiles. - its clean and spacious inside. The dinners came out and then they brought the appetizer after although We didn't want it anymore. Chicken ajillia is very thin and over cooked and I wouldn't order it again. Luckily the food is waaaay different from Tex-Mex. It's also different than the cheap (but tasty) taco shacks we usually frequent in Indy. The food is fresh and the menu will be fun to explore. My eyes got big when the server put the plate down -- let's just say it's what I would do if I made arroz con pollo -- add lots of veggies! Definite upgrade, and it was SO GOOD. Not too much cheese, but still super yummy. Vegetables includes zucchini, green bell peppers, and broccoli. Trust me, it's good. Served with a little guac, pico de gallo, and sour cream. We dropped by to try out the chilaquiles (hadn't eaten any since a long-ago trip to Honduras) and cash in a Groupon, and were amazed at the incredible selection of items from which to choose. The menu is 5 pages long and very complete. I was a little worried because the refried beans are pork-based, but the server was able to substitute vegetarian beans without a problem. I ordered los texanos chilaquiles (topped with eggs, cheese, and pico) and they were fabulous. My husband had the burrito sencillo which he also happily devoured. Once we resolved that issue, he found the tortillas very small, and they are, tough chicken with absolutely no seasoning. Comment was the chicken wouldn't have any flavor at all if it wasn't for the grilled onions and peppers. He thought my new potatoes had more spice than his entire meal. His first comment was I'd rather be in Avon (at his favorite place). Before he finished dinner begged me not to ask him to return here even if it was free. I think the first clue was that when we arrived there was only one table being served in the entire restaurant. Others were previously used but not bused. We were sat at a previously used but not clean table as the server brushed the crumbs on the floor and signaled to sit there. Although there was only the one other table it took over 5 minutes to receive a menu. Both ordering Iced Tea, one would assume that there would be ice in the tea, but no. Had to ask for that a few times. Menu items were a mystery. Server was new to the English language and unable to explain what the main menu items were, so I ordered something I didn't recognize, being up for a challenge only to find out that "Chilaquiles" = Nachos covered in a sour green sauce with runny beans and shredded chicken. My girlfriend and I recently moved to the west side of Indy. We love Mexican foods and splitting a pitcher of margs on a nice Friday night. We had been to Los Chilaquiles 4 years ago and wanted to try it again. This was a mistake. We found the food bland and flavorless. And the margaritas were weak and tasted off. We always go with the premium tequila and still were not satisfied. The chips were stale. My fajitas lacked the true seared in flavor one would expect for this dish. My girlfriend got enchiladas with verde sauce and thought the sauce was heavy on the vinegar for some reason. Sorry to say we were quite disappointed in our return trip. Hole mole! My neverending quest to find authentic Mexican cuisine in Indianapolis seems to be getting easier and easier. With the city's burgeoning population from that nation, the choices are now myriad - each providing a unique perspecive on the culinary arts of our southern neighbor. The trouble with many restaurants serving genuine cusine is their ability to thrive in Indy's market. Their hole-in-the-wall atmosphere, coupled with their often (very) spicy food, is detracting to people who were raised on the Chi-Chi's/Don Pablos experience. Los Chilaquiles, located in the International Marketplace, is proving that real Mexican fare in a comfortable atmosphere is a viable possibility in the Hoosier State. I discovered Los Chilaquiles by accident. As a regular patron of the restrauant's neighbors, Chipati and Indy Vapor Shop, I had been in its vicinity numerous times without giving it a second thought. When I asked my friends at Indy Vapor about it, their faces lit with enthusiasm and insisted that I try it. Walking in, I noticed that the place maintained a large, casual, and modern atmosphere. In addition to plenty of tabes, Los Chilaquiles has a thriving bar, that at the time, had televisions playing Mexican club soccer. Around the bar sat an entirely Mexican patronrage, all shouting loudly after their team scored. My kind of place, I thought. We were greeted by our exceptionally dilligent server (who has fondly remembered us on return visits), and were given a brief synopsis of the menu. Of course, she gave us chips and salsa, which was quite necessary. Different salsas are available upon request, but the standard one is overly mild. Don't be a sissy. Ask for the hottest one. The menu at Los Chilaquiles is expansive and caters to all. I recently read that one can tell the authenticity of a Mexican restaurant's menu by seeing if they serve beef tongue. At Los Chilaquiles, beef tongue is a "go." I have traveled to Mexico over 25 times and have enjoyed serveral different varieties of los chilaquiles with my breakfast nearly every morning. Since los chilaquiles are the establishment's namesake, I found it only fitting to order a plate. While they come in multiple varieties, I was overjoyed to find that they served a version that was topped with mole poblano. Oh, how I love mole poblano! I want my life to be covered in it. Luckily for you, Los Chilaquiles offers sides of it, so you can smother anything you want with it. While I have hardly had the chance to try the majority of the other menu items, I can attest to the terrific, generously portioned fajitas that are served. Ok. I thought I'd eaten all the amazing food Indy has to offer. I was SO wrong. A chef friend of mine told me about this place and I'd tucked it away in my memory for future reference. My husband wanted Mexican food today and I happily recommended a "new" place (for us, at least). We pulled up and entered and were immediately struck by the fact that there was no English to be heard (and were pleased by the fact!). The place was clean and tidy. We were shown to a table and given menus (which, thankfully, had English translations). I knew I wanted the chilaquiles, cause, well...that's their name! Chilaquiles are like the best nachos you've ever had. And really, they were. I ordered the Texanos version with chicken. So there were onions, tomatoes, cilantro, egg, and chicken layered with the nachos. It was incredibly delicious. But look, it is NOT at all health food. The nachos are super deep fried and so this is not a meal I would have often. But when I get a craving for Mexican food, I'm heading to Los Chilaquiles. Oh, believe the hype about the flan. It's ridiculously good. The coconut? A flash of brilliance. It's more authentic than most places you'll find in Indy so if you're used to the standard Mexican fare, you'll probably be a little taken aback. Believe me, we will not be making that mistake again! Horrible and disappointed. I drove from other Side of town because this place used to be great. I went for the mole but to my surprise the chicken was not chewable. I asked for the tacos instead. The very rude waitress did not tell me that she chose onion and cilantro tacos only. They were cold as well. She didn't come back for over 15 mins so I ate one because my family was done after my second wrong meal. The website says margarita are $5 in their special everyday between 4-8 pm. I asked our rude waitress what the $2.50 misc food charge. And why margarita were not $5. She put me on her person cell phone with manager and she said let me talk to her. I had a hard time choosing a favorite since everything they brought was just as good as the last. It was like eating at my grandma's house with my aunt Socorro and cousin Pico in the kitchen :) I live in Broadripple so when I fist started working in this area over four years ago I was dissapointed by almost every restaurant in the area. However Los Chiaquiles has restored my faith. I'm sure they will see me again before the week is over. For my last restaurant visited in 2013 maybe I should have thought it out more. this restaurant was okay to say the least. yes the decor was beautiful and I really like the vibe. There are a large TVs on playing the game and a full bar. There was even a artistic Mexican guitar / singer who played at each table for free. However even with a couple of tables of customers ,there was very slow and bad service. our waitress did not want to bring us water for some reason and it took 3 request to get it. Then the young lady didn't tell me until my order came out of that there was no pork tamales even though before I ordered I inquired whuch tamales were available, as the menu stated to do. So I had to wait an additional 10 minutes to get chicken tamale. The waitress also did this on a alcohol beverage order with my coworker. My suggestion to management is please ensure that your servers know what's available daily on the menu or at least once they become aware that something is unavailable by the cook staff to immediately tell the customer. Waiting until the order has came out to tell someone they don't have something they ordered is a unacceptable. So let's talk about the food. I ordered the beef tacos with extra cheese. This was great! I really like the cilantro with the cheese selection and the flour taco bread was on point. I definitely see myself if not coming back for the tacos alone doing takeout for the tacos. However my tamales that took an additional 10 minutes to get it were horrific. I've never had Mesa that tastes so awkward. Also I've never had the chicken sitting on top of the Mesa as well. I was so disappointed with the food and service that I don't even bother complaining to server because I felt it would do nothing at all. My coworker had the enchiladas. She like the enchilada dish and it looks really great presentation wise um I didn't really care for the piece I had but she suggested they were very good to her. Overall I wasn't impressed with this restaurant. I'll be back for the taco, more than likely carry out. If you're looking for a chill spot or a place to watch the game with a drink & some tacos this will be a great place to go. read more

The food was OK; service, not so much. We drove to Indianapolis on Friday night for a conference on Saturday. We got to our hotel about 9pm and were pretty hungry. We saw this place across the street. The wife loves Mexican food and so we didn't even fire up my Yelp app to look anywhere else. Even though it was a Friday, by 9pm the dinner rush was definitely over and the place was definitely winding down. We declined any drinks (just water) and ordered right away. 5 mins goes by, 10 mins goes by, 15 mins goes by: no food and no sign of our server. Finally, another server took pity on us, stopped by and asked the obvious: "are you still waiting for your food?" We said yes and she went off in search of our server; after a few more minutes she finally showed up and plopped our food down on the table. She never refilled our water glasses, never asked how our food was, never asked if we needed anything else. We finally flagged her down and got our check so we could get out of there (and (obviously) will never be back). read more

This is a secret breakfast and coffee spot of mine. I love that their veggie omelets always have a great assortment of fresh crunchy veggies that aren't over cooked. I add the red or green sauce. The bread and jam is amazing and so is the cinnamon coffee. And it's always chill when I come so I can drift off to foodie heaven while I eat. read more

Los Chilaquiles was awesome! We recently moved to the area from a place where there was a wide variety of delicious Mexican restaurants and are so glad to have found our new place to go in Indy...and we will be going often. Not only was the food here amazing (I had the sopes...and whoa, so good), but the prices are great AND there is a really nice presentation. We chatted with the owner who clearly takes a lot of pride in her restaurant and her food. Everything is homemade, starting with the salsas as soon as you walk in. I would suggest you go here immediately and go here often because we can't wait to go and try so many other things on the menu. Even though we were so full, we decided to share the flan. Sorry, although the food at this restaurant is very good, the service is abysmal. I made a reservation a few days ahead for a group of 11. When we arrived, they didn't have a table set up and had to make other patrons move in order to seat us. We ordered margaritas, guacamole and chips and asked for water. The guacamole came pretty soon, but the margaritas came out incredibly slowly, the sodas some ordered were even slower and it was close to an hour before we finally got water. We had half our guacamole left but were out of chips. We asked for more chips and she took the rest of the guacamole but didn't bring it back with more chips. She brought us two more orders of guacamole (which we had ordered) but ended up charging us for four orders when we only got two and a half. When we ordered our food we asked for more margaritas -- we never got them. I ordered a shrimp dish as an appetizer, it came just before they FINALLY brought our check. We sat there with full plates of hot food, but couldn't get anyone to bring us silverware (although we told our server we didn't have silverware when we ordered our meals). We also had nothing to drink along with our food. The server said she would divide the check by parties, but it came as one tab. We had to ask for it over and over again. We ended up paying for items we didn't receive so we could finally leave. Took way over two hours to eat, we only managed to get one drink each. I will say though, that the drinks we did have were great. The worst part was that whenever we pointed out that we didn't have things we had asked for, the server was like "it's coming guys." When we asked for silverware for about the 5th time, she said she was working on it. We finally asked another server and she brought some over right away. read more

Chilaquiles (n) super awesome tasty nachos simmered in yummy sauce. These were really good. Super filling, really cheap, all around awesome. Went with a group of fellow yelpers following some kayaking. The margaritas and guac to start the night were really good. I've been to both locations and the new one is really nice. Chorizo. Tacos. Seriously y'all. That's whats up. Spicy, salty, savory goodness. Put a splash of citrus-y lime all over, and ohhhh yeah. I mean realistically, I don't think there is a way where little corn tortillas, chorizo, cilantro and onion don't combine to create a delicious meal. Thrown in some refried beans and rice. I'm sold. I also love their horchata. I am a horchata fan in general, and theirs is pretty delicious. Also the chips you get pre-meal are good. Red salsa, tomatillo salsa, and a sour cream concoction. Yum. Also, the chilaquiles are something interesting to try that you won't see a lot of other places. But fortunately and unfortunately for me, I am so obsessed with chorizo, I have a hard time ordering anything else. Oh, and this place is priced very reasonably. Yum. read more
