I went to Los Cabos Mexican Bar & Grill on Quince Road on a Tuesday, and the ambiance was surprisingly lit . They had live music with a band playing a variety of songs that kept everyone engaged. The vibe was so good I forgot it was only Tuesday! The drinks were excellent. I ordered a flight to try a bit of everything--fruity and refreshing at first, but by the third glass, the tequila definitely kicked in! The food was very good. I had the beef enchiladas, which were delicious. Service was friendly, though food took a while due to the crowd, which was expected. This is a great spot for after-work meetups or a fun girls' night out. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic date unless you enjoy a lively, loud atmosphere--which I do. The drinks are good, which is the reason for the review. However, I ordered nachos, and they barely wanted to give me any cheese. I ordered mixed fajitas nachos. Initially, I got a 2 oz plastic container of cheese, for a bed of nachos that came with no cheese at all. Then, when I mentioned it wasn't enough cheese, that my nachos were dry, they brought me a much smaller, 1oz container. When I showed them I had several dry nachos and needed more cheese, they gave me a hard time and kept saying I could buy it. And even when I said I would, they kept saying, "it's $10.," and wouldn't give me anything until I agreed to a 2oz, watered down, clearly microwaved cheese for an additional $10 charge, which I almost did. But I got tired of going back and forth and just asked for a to go box. But I think everyone should know that ordering nachos at this place is a waste of time bc not only will they not put the nachos on your nachos when it actually comes out, but they'll deny you extra cheese. A closer location opened up so I wanted to update my review. I've tried a couple of locations and all in all this is a pretty mediocre place. The food was ok but not amazing or impressive. Hubby got the Nachos Supreme which were decent but not worth getting again. Also, I don't usually care about presentation, but I expect it to look a little nicer. It was very thrown together. I got the mixed brochetas and the steak was the best part. The chicken was ok but the shrimp was bland. The steak was chewy so I'd want to get it less cooked next time but otherwise the seasoning on it was fantastic. read more

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in Memphis. Everything is so delicious and a not conveyer belt Mexican food. Super Fresh!! Everything has its own flavor. This was my 3rd visit here. I thought the service was slow each time and the drinks rather weak. The first 2 times I ordered a small frozen lime margarita and an entree. I though the drinks seemed weak because they were small and frozen. Today I order a Jumbo lime margarita on the rocks No salt. I got what tasted like margarita mix WITH Mega SALT on the rim (no Tequila). The entree I ordered which was only 2 beef buritos still had not come after 45 minutes. I asked the waiter to remake my drink and express that it tasted like only margarita mix. He refused to remake my drink and insisted that I would have to pay for it. I then declined to pay and refused the entree also, which still had not arrived. I told him I was leaving. He said I could not leave so I told him he could call the police or I would which ever was his pleasure. I left never to return as is my advice to all. I truy believe they are serving no liquor or less than they should. I came to Los Cabos because of my line dance friends who dance there once a month, but never again. We have gathered at other mexican restaurants to dance and not had this problem. If you have a desire to pay for, and drink just margarita mix give me a call I have some at the house and I will only charge $2.00. They are charging $13.00 and up for theirs. Lousy place. I visited Los Cabo's for the first time this past Friday night. I was not given the memo that the restaurant converted to a karaoke/club scene after 6. There was such a big crowd that servers were continually moving around tables and taking care of others that my friends and I weren't even addressed for 20-30 minutes and just for a drink order. One friend attempted to give her food order at the same time, but later realized it was not heard after we were abandoned for several more minutes until our food order was taken. Once I received my food, I was not Impressed at all. I didn't get much flavor from the seasoned fajita vegetables. The margarita is what brought the score up. Terrible service. Went for a birthday dinner, the coordinator made a reservation for the number of people needed days before hand and had to put a card on file. Ok no biggie. The day of the dinner they don't have enough tables (there were only 4 other tables in use in the entire restaurant). Weird but again ok. Now we're seated at two long tables. I am at the table with the first to arrive, placed our orders first. Barely received drinks while the other table with the same amount of people in the same party have received their drinks, appetizers and entrees. Ok, no complaints still. Drinks were ok, much better at the Bartlett location! DJ was good though the speaker sounded as if it was busted. Food finally arrived (after the other table has finished eating and some of them have left) half the orders were incorrect. I ordered the Tres chimichangas, very tasty. Into the 2nd one the cheese dip I ordered as an appetizer arrives. Seriously?! I had to ask for a refill 3x before receiving it. Get our checks and only gratuity is added at 15%. I thought that was fairy cheap because usually double the first digit so that normally around 20%. I had to ask for my card back multiple times. After I pay there's a credit card fee added. Wait that wasn't discussed and why. Next an entire jumbo drink is spilled on me. With no apology and completely ignored. While asking for a napkins I'm told the lady that spilled it doesn't speak English and the waitress will get me napkins when she gets a chance. Again, seriously? I ordered the fajita burrito and was was okay but could use more seasoning. Service was good but had problem with the check. They automatically add 15% tip to your bill. Don't let the location deter you from checking this place out. As empty nesters we eat out about 3-4 times a week. We've tried everywhere over the past 20 years. Los Cabos is a solid #3 behind Las Delicias and La Perla Tapatia. We ordered the Fajitas Mix (beef, chicken, shrimp & bacon) and Pechuga Supreme. This place is owned by my favorite Mexican restaurant just a block away, El Toro Loco. They have a smaller, more seafood centric menu as opposed to Toro Loco, but still on point. They have alot of my favorite items from Toro Loco as they are there and alot of the same items recreated with seafood. Just avoid the chipotle shrimp burrito and you will be fine. The shrimp is absolutely delicious but the sauce is horrible. The staff seem a bit lackadaisical, but I usually get mine to go so maybe I shouldn't say. read more

The restaurant feels more like a bar then an actual restaurant. For the name being cabos I expected them to have more sea decor . more blue colors inside or even a fish tank. The nacho Supremes were just OK. I have had better nachos at other places. for one the chicken didn't have very much flavor to it. just tasted like shredded chicken that was watered down, same goes for the ground beef. So this is going to be a strange review...I'm going with 4 stars...but I am also going to start with what began as a really bad experience in hopes the owners or manager reads this. The Bad: then I am going to describe some bad things...but you'll see where I am going. So again lets start with the bad...then I'll get to the good. We walked in to a mostly empty restaurant at 11:20 and read a sign that said "Please wait to be seated." So we waited...4 or 5 minutes. Then I went in search of an employee...there was a guy behind the bar and I waived at him only to have him grab his PC and escape into the back (I think he was the manager). Finally a waiter...not host/hostess...came by handed us some menus and said sit wherever. So we sat. After we sat we waited...until he finally took our orders, both food and drinks all at once as we weren't going to let him get away once we had him. Then we waited...no drinks, no food. Then it hit me what was going on. He was the only employee (save maybe the cook) working. The place wasn't super busy but I mean to say he was the ONLY person working...despite me seeing manager earlier. We finally got chips and salsa...but still no drinks or cheese dip. Our entrees came out...and then finally after that our cheese dip. This is not the fault of the cooks or waiter...this is a management problem. As we left, over an hour later, we now saw additional waiters, a hostess, and ironically NOW the manager is our helping...now that the place is fully staffed. The good: Despite being abandoned by the manager...our waiter was super nice and tried very hard. The chips were above average but not the best ever. The cheese dip similarly was good but not the best. The salsa I did like a lot. However the two items I use as my own personal yard stick for tex mex food is the chimichanga and the fajitas. This trip I did the fajitas and they proved to be possibly the best fajitas of all of the local places. It was plentiful in meat which is not the case everywhere. Also instead of the usual boring green bell peppers found in most places, here you will find a mix of pretty reds, yellows, orange and a few green peppers which makes for a colorful mix of yumminess. read more

A large bar with lots of flat screens throughout (you won't miss a game here). I really like this place and am surprised the rating isn't higher. We typically get the queso fundido - it's $22 for two and a TON of food. Cheese, steak, chicken, shrimp and chorizo / yum!!!! The drink prices are great too and they have live music on certain nights - I know Tuesday's for sure. Overall it seems like a fun spot to hang out. The interior is beach themed, one side is just tables and the other has the bar, more tables and stage but it's basically one big room so it can get loud. The service is good and staff friendly. I had never been here before, so I was definitely surprised when I arrived on a Friday evening for dinner and was waved down with a security wand by the door attendant. The place was packed, TVs showing the game, women decked out in heels and tight dresses, loud music blaring. Are we at the club or a restaurant? Should I be concerned about my safety? After I got over the initial shock of the scene, I started enjoying the music and attacked the chips. The chips are not the thin kind but they are authentic. The salsa definitely had a kick to it. I ordered a Pina Colada which was delicious. My husband tried this drink with 3 bottles of liquor sitting on the top, I've never seen anything like this before in my life. My husband was buzzed after drinking about 1/4 of the glass of that big drink. But once we got the bill and he saw it was $30, he was determined to finish it...lol. My poor baby. Will we go back?
