This is an excellent Mexican Restaurant. My first visit here for our company dinner and my experience was very pleasing. Everyone practically ordered different dishes and everyone said they were all excellent. I wanted to order something that I can't normally get from typical Mexican restaurant. When I saw a photo of this big bowl of soup in the menu that included octopus, fish, shrimp, scallops, and vegetables, I had to order this dish. I can really recall what it was called but I made the right choice. The soup wasn't spicy and it tasted mild and had a deep flavor. I think they used all sort of vegetables to make the stock since the taste wasn't light. All of the seafood in this soup was chucky and flavorful just the way I like it. The night was cold and this hot soup really filled and warmed me up. I had to take the half of the soup home since I honestly think that it's a portion for two. I was in town visiting with an old friend from college and had an opportunity to eat here at Los Compadres. When we arrived at around 5:30, the whole parking lot was jam packed. Really speaks to how loyal the customers are here! Most people you can hear have been here many times and it's their comfort food place. I was excited to try it out despite having just eaten probably a few hours ago. After braving the LA traffic and finding a parking space, we quickly went inside and grabbed our table. They have quite an extensive menu of Mexican food choices from all your favorites like tacos, burritos and fajitas to more authentic things that some may not have heard of. I opted to go for the Ribeye fajitas which were good but expensive. I have to say the tortillas are the best and supposedly are made in house. While I did enjoy my time here, I'm not sure if this was THAT much better than any other place that I have been. I understand loyalty and that is what drives this place. They were on the more expensive side despite most of there dishes being cheaper elsewhere. I don't think you'd be disappointed here but it just didn't wow me as I had expected. There is parking in the lot but it looks like many people had to park along the street. Eating early or very late here is probably ideal to beat the rush otherwise you'll be standing in a very long line for a very long time. read more

By far some of the best Mexican food I have ever had! Growing up in AZ, I have had my fair share of some incredible Mexican food. On a last minute trip to LA, was looking for a place to grab some food. Yelp came through and saved the day again!! Have to say I wish this place was in Phoenix. Every last bite was mouthwatering and full of flavor, chips and salsa were delicious and my fajitas came out steaming as they should cooked to absolute perfection! Drinks were amazing as well. I had a business meeting here and the place was under construction. However the restaurant was still very beautiful and staff was very friendly and courteous. I had been looking for a good place for carne asada besides my bbq grill. This place had very tender meat and was cooked to perfection. My first time here was pretty yummy. I ordered a bean and rice burrito. Good size burrito and it came with guacamole and sour cream on the side. All yummy and fresh Not to bad with prices either. This is my go-to place for Mexican food and a good drink. Classic Margaritas are always consistently perfect (mouth watering as I type this). Fav dish Enchiladas Michocanas. Terrible place! I ordered the fish fillet and the only thing you would be able to taste was salt. Try to mix it with the beans and rice to make it eatable. The big problem came later. BIG DIARRHEA! First off I have to say that the food is fairly delicious here and as far as I'm concerned..."muy auténtico", though everyone I know who's been there agree with me that the food is overpriced. We determined that was because the restaurant really hasn't been crowded at all during the peak hours we've been there, and 'maybe' that's because the prices are high, but it's also possible that they aren't serving tons of people so they have to raise their prices to pay the bills? Who knows, but nonetheless, still overpriced. Service was also good, but the thing that rubbed me the wrong way on our last visit (2 of us)....the bill seemed higher than it should have been, and when we checked it out, the 2 entrees we ordered were about $4 higher than the menu price. We brought that to our server's attention and she went to check it out, and we were given some kind of reason like the menu hadn't been updated yet, and we were given the overcharge back in cash? I guess that's okay, but now a higher-price-than-it-should-be meal is now a WAY-higher-price-than-it-should-be, so we're probably not coming back, there are too many Mexican restaurants in the surrounding area that charge reasonable prices. read more

I'm feeling under the weather and decided a caldo de res (beef soup) was the best thing for me. It was seasoned well and the portion was good. Some places make it bland but this place knows how to flavor it just right. It came with rice and hand made tortillas. This will be my new place for a steamy soup. read more

While slightly pricier than surrounding Mexican restaurants, it's well worth it due to the quality of their food and fun atmosphere.
