I visited on a late weekday evening and was seated and served promptly. Plenty of parking available in the shopping center. It wasn't a busy night, and the ambiance was okay, though the interior felt a bit outdated. There were a few people gathered at the bar and there were TVs showing sports (although oddly not the Rockets as they had some Latin baseball game and TV shows on during the same time) The menu is extensive, featuring lots of Tex-Mex classics, along with a dedicated page for lunch specials and happy hour deals. I decided to try a top-shelf margarita, which had a decent pour of tequila but mixer tasted a bit strange (I forgot to ask for it on the Rocks, my bad) For my entrée, I went with the Burrito Grande. The portion was very generous, the fajita beef was flavorful and came with a decent serving of guacamole, rice, and beans. It was okay, I felt like I definitely had better but can't complain. Overall, this is a safe choice for Tex-Mex in this area right off the Hwy, especially as a chain restaurant. The food was decent but a bit on the pricey side. read more

Came to celebrate my after birthday party with a late lunch. Service was great, the ambiance is casual and the food was very good. Our waitress was attentive. The restaurant was empty for it being a Saturday. Nothing like the bustling restaurant of before when you had to wait for a table. The fajita tacos were delicious and very well filled with lots of tender meat. The green sauce that came with it was great. The chicharrón and guacamole was great. Meaty, hot and seasoned just right. I ordered the combo plate and it came with a lot of food. I loved their rice. I could eat a whole bowl of just that. Chips and salsa were great. I like Los Cucos but they are nowhere close to being as busy as they used to be probably because of all the chaos going on with the raids. I hope we can get back to normal again before they start closing down. I recommend trying them out. They have great variety on their menu. Something for everyone. read more

Los Cucos is always a TexMex favorite in my book and this location is no different. Spacious, clean, and super friendly staff that makes you feel immediately welcome. They have a huge menu of favorites and some dishes you won't find at most TexMex places around town and anything I have ever had has always been delicious. I've been coming here for years, but honestly the food quality and consistency have dropped. Not sure if it's new management or what, but if so, they really need to go back to the old ways. Pros: -This location has TVs, a small outdoor area, and it's super family-friendly. There's even space for kids to roam, which is nice. -Prices haven't gone up too much over the years compared to other spots, but portions have definitely gotten smaller. -When you call in, the staff answering is usually really friendly. Every now and then you might feel a little rushed, but that's rare. -Margaritas are solid! Strong, tasty, and if you can handle it, go for the top shelf with Grand Marnier. -Chicken fajitas are tender, flavorful, reheat well, and they've stayed consistently good. -Chips are good too--not too hard, so even if you've got sensitive teeth you'll be fine. -Everything is good to reheat if there are leftovers Cons (at least for me) -The beef fajitas used to be amazing--tender and flavorful every time. Now, not so much. Sometimes they're tough, though they still reheat well. -The rice is just... okay lately. -The queso has gone downhill. They've started adding some kind of veggie (onion? celery?) that throws off the flavor. I used to love it, but now I can't stand it. Chips and dips were the best and meals were always good but the last time we came in, they were going to seat us at a table by the window which I saw had a dead fly and a spider web and dirt. It was disgusting. We should have turned around and left but we stayed but asked to be seated elsewhere. Food was still good but I couldn't get over that funky sight. Don't think I will be back. Okay, so, this place came through when I really needed them the most. We organized a Celebration of Life for a family member who passed away. It was her wishes to have Los Cucos catered to feed 150 people. We stopped at this location to schedule the catering. The manager was extremely gracious and caring, especially under the circumstances. We ordered the full service, and believe me, you WANT the full service. There was nothing I needed to do. The servers came in, set up, served, took down and cleaned their area. They were very respectful during the service. They were friendly to our guest. They were just spectacular, and the food was delicious. Beef and chicken fajitas, rice, beans, chips & salsa, pico, queso, tortillas. Everyone was fed and we received so many compliments on the food and service. It was exactly what my loved one wanted. I recommend for any catering event, Los Cucos on Northwest freeway nearest 610. I don't know if he's secretly the CEO, a magician, or just built different, but the service was elite. He brought my food out so fast I thought he had it waiting in his pocket. Kev checked on me the perfect amount -- not too much, not too little -- like he had the customer-service sixth sense. If Los Cucos had a draft pick, he's going #1. Food? Great. Service? Kev. Overall? My family and I came in from out of town and decided to stop by here for brunch, it was definitely worth it. First off our waiter Gustavo was amazing, he was friendly, attentive and answered any questions we had about the menu. The food was amazing, portion sizes just right and the tortillas were delicious. We go to Los Cucos anytime we are in Bay City. The ambiance is perfection, from the music, to the restaurant's design and decoration, to the cozy atmosphere. The food is predictably delicious. My favorite meal is the Fish Cancun with their awesome top shelf margarita to cleanse the palate. Busy or slow the service is always excellent, plus, plus, plus. It's not unusual for the manager to check on our table. Drinks are constantly topped off, empty plates removed by cheerful servers. Decided to go here last minute since we were in the area and wanted Mexican food. This was the closest Mexican restaurant to where we were so we decided to give it a chance and I surely regret it. Service was okay, we didn't wait to be seated and didn't wait long to be served. I ordered the watermelon Rita which was very watered down. I was basically drinking a slushie. I ordered the chicken stuffed avocado which wasn't bad but could have been better, there was hardly any chicken in the avocado. The best thing on my plate was the tortilla soup and the rice. My family has been enjoying Los Cucos for over 10 years, and we go to various locations. We usually go to this location after church on Sunday. Last Sunday (07/19/25) my party was rather big (about 10 people) but we were seated quickly. Food was good and we had a great time. The reason I am rating 1 star is they added 5 ice tea even nobody ordered them. We were busy and did not check the receipt till we got home. Los Cucos over charged about $18 for drink and tax, and the server got some extra tip (18% automatic amount). We will make sure we will avoid this server in a future. read more

Decided to head here for my diner, wasn't too busy and we were immediately seated in a booth in the bar area. Carmen, our waitress was such a sweetheart & very attentive to our table. I ordered the fajita chimichanga pictured, and it was really, really good! The pieces of meat were very tender, flavorful & very full. The side of rice had nice chunks of carrots & corn - seasoned well, and the refried beans were fantastic. I also ordered a house margarita on the rocks, so good I ordered a second! I called in a carryout order at this location on a busy weekend night. The employee who took my order was friendly. She repeated my order back to me and confirmed the location twice as there is another location off 290. The parking lot was extremely busy when I arrived. Parking here is difficult on the weekends, the lot is shared with another restaurant in the corner and lots of small businesses. The hostess was busy seating guests when I arrived but made eye contact with me and helped me as soon as she could. I had asked for a separate bag for one of my items and the hostess repackaged it separately for me. I ordered the queso, shrimp avocado and chicken quesadillas. I was given plenty of chips and salsa to go which was refreshing. Most restaurants do not provide those complimentary for togo orders. The portions were great for the price, my entree also came with soup. I probably would not order the queso again though, it didn't have much flavor and just tasted like melted cheese. read more

As a creature of habit, I ordered the PEPINO CALIENTE, a drink that comes in a shaker, and gives us a full two to 2 1/2 drink pour. It's tasty! Muddled fresh slices of cucumber and jalapeño, Avion Silver tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, and agave nectar. It's a good deal. But, sometime I get the watermelon margarita. It comes with Exotico Silver tequila, watermelon liquor, and lemon and lime juices. It is tasty, but best on a hot day. Brain freeze caution! And, the food is always good. There was no wait time when we went (weekday evening). 3. Prices were not the bad on some items. A con would be some items were way overpriced for the quality. 4. Bar drinks watery or full of sweet and sour. Also WAY overpriced. Cons: 1. Priced weren't comparable to the menu prices, they seemed very high for most items based on taste, quality and presentation. Con: Limited appetizer selection for my tastes. Would I go back? Unfortunately, for those prices, I can have a better meal and drink somewhere else. read more

Perfect. My only turn off was that they no longer have a happy hour on Friday. Oh well, it's recovery time for businesses that had been hit hard from the Corona-Virus.
