IVE been here several times, been to 3 locations. Came in Sunday nite and had the worse meal here. I sent it back again after they remade fresh. IVE never had cheese enchiladas whete the cheese was hard inside, not once but then they made fresh and again were horrible. I don't understand as it's 1 of the easiest things to make in a Mexican kitchen. Really turned me off of this place. I'm moving to Castle Rock and may have to start going to La Loma now. Nice location but really confused cause they agreed something wrong, made fresh and was still just as bad. read more

We've eaten at Los Dos Potrillos locations in Castle Rock, Littleton and here in Highlands Ranch. They are all very good, but the Highlands Ranch location is consistently our favorite. Excellent food and service! Had the steak fajitas again and always have leftovers for another couple of meals. Jose C was our server again today and was excellent as always! We are regulars at this location and the service for dinner tonight was very good, the quality of food and margaritas was just ok, fair at best. Are they using cheaper ingredients to save a $$ ? This is by far the best Los Dos in the south metro area. We live 2 minutes from the one in Parker but we cant stand stepping foot in that location anymore so we enjoy Los Dos less often than we prefer, but we make the trek out here as much as we can to enjoy the best Mexican restaurant around and service that matches. Since the first time we stopped at this location we were blown away by the service compared to the Parker location, and that has been consistent every time we stop in. The tables are comfortable, the dining room is clean, and the host even put the CU game on the TV for us the last time we stopped in. This is worth driving past another Los Dos to enjoy great authentic Mexican-Coloradan food! read more

Please take your quesabirria tacos off youmenu. I tried them a couple times at the Littleton location. Once was fine and the second the tacos were so soggy, it was not pleasant. So I waited about a year, thinking since they are now on the menu and not just a special, that maybe they improved them and that people must like them. So last night, we went to the Highlands Ranch location and I gave them another try. When I tell you the meat was so tough & gristly and the tortillas were just as soggy as the last time. I even asked for them extra crispy to try and correct the issue preemptively. These tacos were absolutely disgusting. We had to use two hands to hold the taco and then rip the meat apart. Ugh. They have no business serving these to customers and I will never order again. There is no way the kitchen staff didn't see how bad the meat was when making the tacos. Love Los Dos and will order other things going forward, but customers will ruin their love of these specific tacos here. read more

For Mexican in Colorado I was pretty disappointed. The chips and salsa were nothing special. They never brought my large margarita, which is the main reason I came to my work function here. The taquitos were pretty dry and came with the weirdest saucer or something on the side. I posted a pic of it. Never seen something served like this anywhere? I love all of the locations for this restaurant and that stands for this one as well. The salsa here is always the best and it varies when you come as to how spicy it is as they make it fresh everyday. We also always get the Queso and I swear it's the best Queso I have ever had at a restaurant! I always no matter what Mexican restaurant I go to get the chimichanga and here it is so good, I always get the carne asada in it as well which is a little extra but omg it is fantastic and makes it so much better than regular beef!! The service is always fantastic and we have never had a bad experience here. The inside is always decorated the same as well no matter what location you go to but it definitely fits the restaurant and the ambiance of the place. Ambience: The esthetic of this restaurant is nice, there is plenty of seating and they have a rooftop dining area open during the summer. It's not extremely loud but it is always packed as it's one of the few Mexican restaurants in Highlands Ranch. Service: Service is always pretty good here and on this visit our food came out extremely fast, I want to say it was less than 10 minutes after we placed our order our food was out which we were surprised about. Food: The food is okay I have had better but it's not bad. I ordered a combination plate this time around with a tostada, enchiladas, and beans and rice. They use shredded cheese to stuff their enchiladas which causes them to be extremely greasy which isn't the best, the rice was a little over cooked and crunchy. My wife ordered the chili rellano plate and also had the same complaint with the cheese they use it made it very greasy. Portions are good you definitely get your moneys worth. This is a favorite spot for us. It's as close to authentic as we can get in Littleton. Each time we go we are greeted with a friendly host and service has been great! The dishes vary from Tex-Mex to authentic street tacos and coctel de camaron, and there's plenty to choose from with their extensive menu. My personal favorite is the molcajete--a bowl made from volcanic rock similar to a mortar and pestle, heated up piping hot and holds a variety of grilled meats, cheese, cactus, cebollitas (small onions), chiles, and salsa. It's all served with a plate of accoutrements such as lettuce, tomato, guac, sour cream, and home made tortillas. It's absolutely delicious and enough for 2-3 people to share. You won't leave hungry as the plates are quite large. The ambiance is slightly dated, but it feels cozy like an established neighborhood restaurant and there are plenty of tables. DO NOT EAT HERE! First time trying this place with my family, I ordered the tostadas, my husband and his dad ordered their burrito and his mom ordered fajitas. The meat had a taste of freezer burn and just tasted old the green chili tasted and looked exactly like the canned Stokes green chili. Nothing tasted fresh at all. Go to Mexican spot, margs and food are both great. Chips and great salsa to snack on with a marg while you wait for your food. Taco salad is huge and so fun that it's in the shape of a huge taco. My go to though is the street tacos with chicken or steak love that you can build them myself so I can load on the salsa onion and cilantro! Also, they brew their own beer at one of their other locations, so sometimes I switch it up from my usual marg and get one of the tasty Mexican lagers or Mexican Ambers to go with my meal! read more

This is such an iconic name in the Denver metro area and my husband was astonished that I had never been here. Alas, one Thursday evening I was ready to wait in line to get a taste of THE Los Dos Potrillos. I always see a long line out the door and that is actually why I don't come here half the time. However, the wait was not bad at all. The restaurant is large and the turnaround is fairly quick. We waited maybe 15min and we were seated promptly. I ended up with their fish and shrimp dish ( I couldn't bring myself to order tacos because we'll be having them for a week). My husband ordered the molcajete. The fish and shrimp were cooked well. They were a bit on the salty side, but otherwise not chewy . The Molcajete was really interesting. The sauce was really good, but the meats lacked flavor to compliment the rest of the many items in the bowl. We did order their sopapilla for dessert and it's a huge piece of fried dough. I thought it'd be a few smaller pieces. I was expecting some sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on it,but it just comes with a bottle of honey. It was a very plain sopapilla and we had to smother it with a ton of honey. This place was better than I expected, but also not the phenomenal food I was hoping for. Finally some good service! Ramiro was great. He was obviously new as we come here at least once a week and have never had him wait on us. Even though he was new here he obviously had waited tables before. He greeted us promptly, drinks came fast and he took our order without rushing us to turn the table. The food came out fast as usual (never an issue) and he checked on us frequently but not too much or not at all. Great service and knew how to take care of his tables without rushing or the opposite, not being there at all. This is refreshing especially after sitting at the bar many times before where you have to ask for everything and the whole time being ignored while the bartenders do their side work. The bartenders here are the worst if you want service. They obviously make their tips from the waitstaff and don't care about their patrons sitting at the bar. Last time as well as numerous times before I was there I had to ask for a menu, ask to order, ask for silverware, ask for water and ask for a check. Always the same bartenders and they should be fired. read more

Today was probably my 6th visit to this restaurant...not by my choice, as whenever I've gone it's been because my friends wanted to go there. I had never had anything there that I thought was particularly good and just did not understand the hype. However, today I got the chile relleno nachos, and oh my gosh! They are amazing! I now want to return just for those. This place is awesome, and the service is fast! I'm a fan of chips and salsa, and Los Dos Potrillos does not disappoint in terms of its chips and salsa. We probably had about eight bowls of the salsa because it was so good - and it had a kick to it. The portion sizes definitely were not small, either - I was stuffed by the end of the meal! I had the steak street tacos. The ambiance was decent, but it felt busy. We only had to wait around 10 minutes to be seated. Our server was very kind and made us feel right at home. He also let us know that they have a new location that opened up in Castle Rock - and he made sure to mention that the food there is just as good! read more

Chips are crisp and fresh. The salsa has good flavor and a spicy kick. They have Sol! So refreshing to have a Mexican restaurant that has this beer!! Ordered the Molcajete with flour tortillas. It had good flavor but wasn't easy to eat. Everything in it is whole and not cut up. The cheese were large almost blocks of cheese, the onion you had to take out of the bowl onto a plate then cut it up to add to your tortilla. Our server was great, very friendly. Overall i wouldn't come back here. I like food that has good flavor but it also had to be easy to eat and this just wasn't. My recommendation would be when making the Molcajete bowls to make it more convenient for the eater by cutting food up. Even the cheese, instead of a big block cut them up in smaller pieces so it well distributed in the bowl. Cutting into smaller pieces will also help the cheese melt faster when you serve it. When it was served it was 2 blocks of cheese sitting in the bowl. read more

My wife ordered the chicken fajitas for takeout dinner, while I had the chicken chimichanga. The chimichanga was very good, and, to my surprise, more than I could eat. The chicken fajitas, came with only two flour tortillas lots of fajita vegetables, and only five and a half strips of chicken. This cost more than the large, filling, chimichanga. We would Not recommend the fajitas from here. Not worth the cost. Even fajitas from Chili's are a better value. read more

I've had worse for sure, however, I have not had anything there that I have thought was terrific. The drink are decent. We wanted to get some decent Mexican so went to the one other very crowded location before going to the Highlands Ranch location which was also very crowded. We checked in went to the restroom and then to the bar. While trying to get a drink we were asked by what seemed to be a leader and asked if we wanted to order a cocktail. We got margaritas w/o triple sec and then sat on one chair waiting. The bartender asked if we wanted to order food we said we did but needed another chair. Long story shorter we ordered from the bar (see pics). The food and service was good the bartender was on his game! Bravo! We left happy and very satisfied however we both woke up in the middle of the night very sick! We discovered the next morning we had similar symptoms and that was all we ate that day. Since we had different meals narrowed it down to the salsa or the drinks. So sad cause my daughter had been before. As I write I am still recovering. I will probably return as this is something that can happen at any restaurant! Do look forward to trying more in their extensive menu of food and tequillas read more

This is our favorite local Mexican small chain restaurant. We've been going to the County Line location for over a decade, and coming to this location since they opened (maybe 6 years ago?). We've been to the Kipling location for their fantastic brunch buffet a couple of times. Every meal we've ever had here has been excellent. My wife strongly recommends the steak burrito, and we both love the chili relleno nachos "favorita de la casa" and rajas con queso appetizers. I usually order the carnitas plate if we go on the weekend - some of the tastiest carnitas I've had. There's always enough to bring some home and give the doggos a few bites. Their house margaritas are great - they go down a bit too easy, so I have to resist the temptation to order one too many. The service has usually been good at each location, but you can get a bit lost in the crowd because the place tends to get packed, at least on the weekend. Expect a 45 minute wait on a Friday night, and be prepared to stand unless you're lucky enough to grab a table in the bar as someone else moves into the dining room. We have not yet tried their Parker location as we don't get out that way often. We are looking forward to taking our son and his partner out to their new Castle Rock location after it opens in 2023. read more

Los Dos Portillos is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Best Mexican in Highlands Ranch! It is always crowded and busy! Expect to wait up to 30 minutes every night of the week unless you come before 5. I love their carnitas on the weekends. Their fajitas for two deal during the week is also great. Make sure to order it well done so the vegetables come out extra crispy! Their margarita tasting is fun, but the classic is still my favorite. Some of the best Mexican food this side of the Mississippi! Ok well, I don't know that that is entirely true, but it is really good!! We ordered takeout and were Really impressed. Even my husband who was kind of lackluster about ordering to go Mexican food said several times that he was really pleased. The portions were really big. I also really appreciate that even though we're not dining in, they still give you chips and salsa, and theirs is so good!! Also, this was a great extra touch, they separated the crispy taco and tostada shell! That's seems obvious, but many places wouldn't have done this. The only thing was that the pick up process was a little wonky, they gave me a number, but there were no space numbers and no instructions were given about what to do when we arrived. They also told us 15 minutes and it took closer to 30, so that can use some work. read more
