My friend and I got burritos today and a quesadilla for her mother. We also ordered a side of guacamole and a side of salsa fresca. The salsa was missing from the order and the guacamole looked like it was half-eaten brown. We're locals, but we intended for this to be a special occasion for our family to have takeout and we were very disappointed. The chicken burrito was flavorless and dry. They didn't ask which kind of quesadilla we wanted--full size or child size. What we received was surprisingly small. This place has lost its luster as well it's flavor since it moved to a new location. The black beans taste canned (no spices or flavor), the sauces taste like canned enchilada sauce, the glasses are warm, and the plates are cold. Ive had better Mexican food in Eastern Europe. Margarita and her friendly, hard working staff catered terrific dinners for 140 hungry horseback riders who had just completed or crewed for the 25 or 50 Mile Mendocino Endurance Rides last weekend. I've been producing endurance rides since 1980, and I've never heard folks rave about the meal at an awards banquet as they did for Los Gallitos fare. Riders had a choice of meats or vegetarian entries hot off the grill, self-serve fresh veggies and condiments, chips and salsa. Simply delicious! You can tell a lot of love and hard work goes into the cooking. Everything I had was homemade and freshly made. I am originally from Texas and the tex-mex I am used to is heavily seasoned. This Mexican food was nicely seasoned, not overly done and authentic. I enjoyed the quaintness of the restaurant as well. I ate here with my wife on a vacation trip and we both really liked it. I had the wet chicken burrito and after a long day of driving, it was perfect. I ate the whole thing. I really liked the sauce on it and the chicken was tender. My wife got chicken tacos and she loved them. She even stole some of my sauce to try. And the chips and salsa are really tasty. She said Los Gallitos was her favorite (she herself was Mexican and so I trusted her judgment). The meal there was one of the best Mexican meals I have had. The portions were huge but delicious. This is not an easy restaurant to find. We drove past it 3 time and still couldn't find it. If you…read morelook on Google Maps they show a pic of it as a blue building. As it turns out. It's right behind the Sea Bird lodge sign and next to Chevron. Once you found it you can't miss it. From what we can see there is no signage on the restaurant with the name on it or we totally missed it. It's not a new restaurant. It's got that homey feel to it. I'm guessing it's a mom and pop shop, a small business. And we should support those local all businesses and not hit up Dennys if we can. We waked in at 7:08an in Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The place was quiet. One others gentleman was there. When we left a party of 3 were just settling in. They have a full menu two sided that they hand out upon entry that is laminated. You are welcome to sit anywhere. We chose a window seat in the front corner. The temperature was pleasant inside and I was able to shed my heavy jacket and was comfortable in my jeans and a light sweater. They have 2 whiteboards of additional specials. We got the bacon, cheese, and bacon omelet with a side of potato's and a biscuit. You have choices of toast, pancake, or biscuit. As for potatoes you could have gotten a potato patty instead. The servings were huge. We only ate half and were full. Now we have leftovers for tomorrow's breakfast. The potatoes were real fresh potatoes. Some still had the sling on them. They were cooked on the griddle. I should have asked for mine extra crispy as I like crispy potatoes. They weren't salty or really seasoned at all so I added some salt and paired it with ketchup. Very tasty. The omelette was chuck full of crispy bacon and avocado , it could have used more cheese. The biscuit was light and flaky, but it lacked the buttery flavor. It was a true big biscuit that was home made. There was an array of jams and jellies to choose from and peanut butter. We chose apricot. Overall it was a good breakfast and I highly Reccomend this place if your hotel doesn't offer a free breakfast like ours didn't. It was also nice that we could walk over from our hotel.
