A darling Asian-American fusion cafe in downtown Saratoga! This neighborhood gives Stars Hollow vibes. With so many interesting options on the menu, our party shared a couple plates: Loco Moco 1: Wagyu beef patty was nice and tender Loco Moco 2: I preferred this version with the Karaage Ricotta Pancakes: initially drawn to this because of the Yuzu glaze! However, I found the sauce to be bitter and the batter too cakey to my liking. Overall, great presentation of food, but the taste fell a bit short of expectations. Service was slow, possibly since we were sitting outside, but the staff were very nice and welcoming. There was plenty of parking in the back lot. If you're not in a rush and looking for a solid brunch spot, Darla would still be a great option!

Cute brunch spot in Saratoga with friendly service, but not really special in terms of the dishes. Met up with a friend for a late weekday lunch and staff kindly accommodated my dog. I got the garden scramble ($21) which came with a piece of toast and a serving of potatoes/sweet potatoes. It wasn't really anything mind-blowing but felt fairly healthy and I had a good portion to take home for a second serving. I also got the yok lor coffee ($6.50) which is basically Thai iced coffee with milk. They said it was similar to Vietnamese iced coffee and I immediately followed up by asking whether it would be very sweet. Our server said he would be able to make it less sweet, and he absolutely delivered!

The ambiance is cozy, w/ plenty of seating. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant. Service was slow and food took too long to come out but they are understaffed that day. The bathrooms were not clean. The food was alright. I like how unique the menu items are. I would not be back, but it was a good try!

I'm surprised Darla Café was so chill on the weekend. Places that offer Bottomless Mimosas can get wild and ratchet (anyone remember Lime in The Castro?). I can't do mimosas anymore but it's fun to watch the drunken shenanigans. "Dis iz meeeee after 10 miiiimooooosaaaas" *Faceplants on table* Darla Café opened two years ago and has been on my list to try after reading the owners are three friends from SF. And, with a menu that looks to be inspired by popular SF brunch spots like Sweet Maple, Blackwood, and Son & Garden. Unlike other hot brunch spots, Darla Café accepts rezzies which is a big plus! We visited on a Saturday around 11 am and was shocked that there was no line or wait, and there were only a couple of tables eating. M E N U AZN fusion brunch fare and Modern Thai dinner fare. Beer, wine, and low abv cocktails (sake and soju). Bottomless mimosas for $25 pp (90 minute limit). F O O D * Chef's Special: "Thai-Green Fusion" Beef Rib w/ turmeric rice, salad, tzatziki ($35): https://tinyurl.com/yc6t56k7 Staff said, this was a Thai and Greek fusion dish. Seemed interesting enough to try but when it arrived, it was just two different cuisines plated together. It felt disjointed and the flavor combo didn't work. My fav part of the dish was the biryani-like rice, fragrant and served hot. The beef rib was meaty and tender but didn't have much flavor and could have been warmer. The undressed greens w/ cucumbers+ pickled onions and tzatziki was fine but seemed like random plate fillers. I wish they didn't water down the nam jim (thai chili dipping) so much but understandable for the area. I asked if they had thai chilies, thai chili powder, or sriracha (basically any AZN hot sauce) but was told they only had tabasco or cholula. * Breakfast Plate: Eggs, bacon, rainbow potatoes ($19) The scrambled eggs were more like a thin omelet with browning. Served with two thin slices of bacon, and a mound of crispy breakfast potatoes seasoned with an earthy truffle oil (best thing on the plate!) * Sides: https://tinyurl.com/4u8ajzbb - Avocado ($4) - Chicken Sausage ($8) - Fries ($5) Only tried the diner style fries which were hot and crunchy. S E R V I C E Staff is polite but service is unusually slow for brunch service and for not being busy (less than 25% capacity). It took nearly 30 minutes for the sides to come out with entrees arriving 10 minutes later. No check-ins and you have to flag staff down for things. A M B I A N C E Modern rustic charm. Cozy patio with a huge oak tree in the middle. P A R K I N G Private lot in back. Overall, our brunch at Darla Cafe was underwhelming for the steep price points ($100+ for two after tip with no alkie). Maybe we ordered wrong or the food was better when they first opened? However, with few Asian food options in Big Basin, Darla Café is def worth trying esp if you're looking for photogenic AZN fusiony brunch food with no wait.

Came with 3 other friends on a Saturday month for brunch at about 10 pm. It wasn't busy at all and parking was easy to find behind the building. We were seated immediately, the cafe was super cute and a nice vibe for brunch. The menu had interesting drinks, so most of us ordered the yok lor ice coffee but less sweet. It was really good honestly and tasted like a coffee version of Thai Tea. Loved that it wasn't too sweet. I ordered a loco moco no 2 with chicken karaage. I will say, our orders took the LONGEST time to come out, and everyone's food came out one at a time. The staff didn't check up on us at all and were really slow. Other tables got their food faster than we did. By the time our food came out, it was cold. My chicken was quite dry and I wasn't super impressed by it. It was sweeter than I expected. My friend ordered the Turkish eggs and she said it was way sweeter than normal too. We got a pancake to share with the table and that was delicious. But I really wanted my savory option to work out lol. I just ate it cus I was too hungry at that point since they took so long to bring out the food. The menu choices honestly looked so good and I'm sad it was kinda disappointing. I don't think I would come back for this tbh.

The menu was extensive and very unique. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The decor inside was sleek and I loved the ambiance. We ended up sitting outside which was not as fancy but still nice and was able to seat a large party. They have a parking lot in the back. The service was ok. I think my favorite was the soft shell crab. I thought the food taste wise was just ok, but the presentation and the variety made eating here enjoyable.

Was getting brunch with some friends and one of them recommend this place as they had seen on Tiktok. The restaurant is very clean and relaxing atmosphere. It definitely gives brunch vibes. We got a reservation for 12:30 but it did not seem like it was particularly needed. Even though it was not packed, service was a little lacking. We got our drink orders in and we got our drinks and had to wait before the waiter took our order for our food. And even after that, the food came out randomly. We got our first order, 5 minutes for our other 2 items, and a whopping 10 minutes after for our final item. DRINKS Blueberry matcha latte: This was on the special menu at the time. The blueberry syrup was good but the matcha itself was lacking. Definitely tasted grassier than matcha usually is and bitter. Upon mixing everything, the drink was overall better but nothing amazing. 2/5 Thai Tea Tini: This was their take on an espresso martini but using thai tea? The drink was very light and fragrant. I personally would have preferred if it was a little more thai tea forward but not bad. Also no garnishes. 3.5/5 Espresso Martini: Very simple and a classic. All the components mixed together very well and the coffee and vodka tastes did not overpower one another. 5/5 MAINS Duck and Waffle: A take on chicken and waffles x duck l'orange. While the duck was tender, the waffles were extremely dry. The orange sauce was a bit heavy and too thick that it didn't really soften the waffles. 3/5 French Toast: My favorite of everything, the french toast was moist yet remained slightly toasted. Fruits were fresh. A classic but nothing too different. 4.5/5 Lobster Benedict: The lobster was overcooked and a little too rubbery. It also took them over 10 minutes to get this to us after we got everything else so I am not sure what happened and if it was sitting out there and got overcooked while it sat. 1/5 Overall, a bit disappointed. There were a couple items left on the menu that piqued my interested but unsure on whether I would return.

    Darla's scramble
    Liz Y.

We visited Darla Café in Saratoga and tried a couple of their dishes. The Darla's Scramble was delicious--loaded with candied bacon, tomato, onions, avocado, and cheddar. The flavors were well-balanced, and the cheese wasn't overpowering. It came with a side of roasted sweet potatoes and regular potatoes, both perfectly crispy on the outside and seasoned with a nice touch of truffle. We also ordered the karaage and waffle, which fell a bit short of expectations. The karaage could've been crispier, and the waffle wasn't crispy on the outside or fluffy inside--it tasted a bit stale. That said, we really enjoyed the scramble and the overall vibe of the café. We'd come back again to try their dinner menu next time. Tip: They have a jar of house-made marmalade on the side, which is absolutely delicious with toast! Definitely worth trying.

3.5 stars I've been wanting to try this place for a while, and since I had a class across the street, my wife suggested we finally go. She got the soft-shell crab roll with French fries. My pancakes were good, though they could have used a little butter and been a touch less overcooked. Presentation was nice, and the service was decent. We probably should've tried a coffee, but I'm open to coming back to explore more of the menu.

Cute place Great menu Bottomless mimosas Kind service Tasty food I met here with a friend who was visiting from out of state and we hung out and enjoyed our 90 minutes of bottomless mimosas. Food was great service was great ambiance was perfect.

Ideally I'd give this place a 3.5/5. Darla Cafe is a charming spot nestled in downtown Saratoga. We went for brunch on a weekend and found the place moderately busy with a lively atmosphere. I ordered the Thai tea, which was delicious and refreshing. I also tried the salmon Benedict, which was decent but not outstanding. The bread was a bit tough and chewy, and the Hollandaise sauce lacked the smooth, creamy consistency I was expecting. My friend ordered the crispy stuffed French toast and she thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was fast and attentive, which was a plus. Overall, Darla Cafe is a decent brunch spot to try if you are in the area.

Karaage benedict, lobeter benedict, short rib special
    Alice H.

Service is extremely slow. Waited 40+ minutes for food, food only came when I had to WALK towards the kitchen to find my server to let them know we were still waiting. Food was mid at best. Bread for benedict is hard. Eggs overcooked. Not the proper sauce for karaage. Lobster without flavor. Short rib cold. Would not come back again.

The hostess was very friendly and showed us to our table. We had a table inside, which was an intimate upscale casual area with a bar. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms for a starter. It was so hard to pick one because everything on the menu sounds so good. Alas, I have a small appetite. The mushrooms were very tasty and a nice start to our meal. For entrees, we had the halibut and prime filet with a side of broccolini. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Drinks are on the pricey side- I had a Hero Old Fashioned and the Taylor Made, $20 each. They were nicely crafted, so worth the price. They brought out a Carmel Popcorn Sundae for my husband's birthday and even gave him a birthday card which I thought was a nice touch. Service was slow and steady. We had ample time to enjoy our food without feeling rushed, but never felt like our server forgot about us. We spent about 2 hours for dinner. Probably not a place to go if you're in a hurry. I'm eager to return and try some more of the starters. It's the kind of place I'd love to take out of town guests - high quality fine dining in a casual and relaxed environment.

The restaurant had a nice visual ambience, but also felt casual as there was a lot of chatter, which isn't a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. Our waiter was especially friendly and helped us decide what to order. I really wish I could remember his name, as I'm posting this a bit late, but he was a huge reason why we had a great experience! Here's a quick rating on the food itself: Stuffed mushrooms (3.5/5): This was recommended by the waiter as a favorite among patrons. The mushrooms weren't bad or anything, but for some reason, it gave me combination pizza vibes that I wasn't expecting. It was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again personally. Bone-in ribeye (5/5): an amazing cut that was cooked perfectly. Exactly what you would expect from a good steakhouse. The compound butter was fantastic! Bone-in apricot glazed pork chop (3.5/5): this one may hit different for different folks. The pork was perfectly cooked and juicy, but the apricot glaze was definitely a little too sweet for our palettes. If you're looking for something more savory, I might try something else. But hey, sweet might be your thing too! Caramel popcorn sundae (4.5/5): we got this one complimentary for being our special day, which was a really nice surprise! And it was a full serving! This one was obviously sweet, but surprisingly more subdued than it sounds, which was really nice! Overall, it was truly a memorable night with great food. And though some things didn't quite work for our palettes, I can totally see that it may for others--so that didn't impact my ratings because they were still good--just not for us. That said, the care that we received on our anniversary was what truly made me land on a 5/5 rating. Definitely coming back for future special occasions!

For food, I ordered the chicken salad sandwich (which is actually a little out of the norm for me) with a side salad, and my boyfriend ordered the fried chicken sandwich. They definitely didn't skimp on either sandwich! The chicken salad sandwich truly hit the spot; it was filling yet still refreshing, and I loved the balance of savory and sweet / tart with the bacon, grapes and apple pieces. Parking wasn't too bad at 6pm (we could park in the middle areas of the hotel parking lot) but by the time we left, the parking lot was full. Our server Silvia was friendly and checked in with us frequently to see if we needed anything else. She provided us with recommendations at the top and when we were asking questions about getting multiple dishes family-style, she provided feedback on whether it would be enough for the table. We felt well-attended to. Asa does rotate through their menu and the main downside was timing for us! My sister really wanted the carbonara she had seen on the menu but they had literally switched over to their spring menu. No carbonara for my sis. :( We shared: Jamon Iberico (good, straightforward), Caesar salad (I wish I had had my own! Really well dressed), trumpet mushrooms (the vinegar was a little too strong for my sister but I thought it was tasty and delicious), cauliflower (sister's favorite dish), spring pasta à la vodka (good, although it didn't particularly stand out in my opinion), exotic mushroom rigatoni (delicious!) and my favorite, the Argentine steak. The chimichurri sauce was perfect to balance out the meat, and I loved dipping the fries in the remnants of the sauce. Only 2 of us got dessert and we both chose the olio nuevo ice cream. They used high quality olive oil and the entire thing was delicious. Would definitely get again! Overall, excellent experience and food at Asa. I would definitely bring friends and family here for a nice dinner out!

They were genuinely accommodating even before we arrived. The ambiance is warm and cozy, perfect for a relaxed and comfortable evening. Their cocktail menu really stands out. It is creative and thoughtfully curated, featuring house infused spirits and layered, well balanced flavors. The food menu is just as thoughtful. There is something for everyone, whether you prefer vegetables, seafood, or meat. My favorites were the crab toast from their seasonal menu and the king trumpet mushrooms. Both were done beautifully and full of flavor. Do not miss the Paella Valencia appetizer with PEI mussels, Gulf shrimp, Spanish chorizo, crispy edged arroz Valencia, shrimp stock, garlic, saffron, paprika, and Castelvetrano olives. It was rich, aromatic, and super satisfying. Parking was easy, the service was excellent, and the entire experience felt warm and welcoming. We will definitely be back.
