The bf and I went here for a quick lunch over the weekend. He mentioned earlier in the week that he had "the best skirt steak sandwich" at this restaurant, so I figured it was worth a shot. The restaurant is tucked away in a two story plaza many Miamians probably pass without a second glance. It doesn't look like much from the outside but inside it is quite cozy and homey. Los Gauchitos is all about Uruguayan cuisine, and considering this was my first official dip into Uruguayan cuisine, I was intrigued by their menu. It has a plethora of meat dishes but also includes pastas and pizza. A complimentary basket of bread welcomed us as soon as we sat down, which is always a plus for us bread/carb fanatics. We ordered the Entrana sandwich which was delicious. I'm not much of a red meat gal, but this was a basic, yet tasty sandwich. Bread, meat, lettuce, tomato. There is chimichurri sauce already on the table should you feel the need to add it to your dish. I think the best part about my sandwich was the bread. It wasn't like anything else I had tasted before - it appeared to be burnt, but when I bit into it, it had a very unique sweetness to it. Needless to say I devoured as much of the sandwich as I could. Overall a solid place that I would definitely go back to if I were in the area. read more

I was here many many years ago, I don't even remember if the name was the same back in 2003. What I remember the current decoration of the place is better, and it's clean with the Market attached. The service was friendly but slow, despite only 2 or 3 tables were occupied it took over 10 minutes to have our bottles of wine uncorked. Then another 15 minutes to place the order and half hour for our appetizers to arrive... The wine selection is mediocre minus, best options will be like Catena Alta Malbec, the wine's glasses are good but they don't have wine's decanter. We brought 2 bottles of great wines and uncorked fee of $7 per bottle was charge, which is very good. The food was good, while Filet Mignon was not available and that was what 3 of us wanted, we had Churrasco instead and it was good cooked and flavorous. Bottom line; I think this place is good but not great, there are several aspects thy should improve to earn higher ratings. read more

One of thE servers was very nice and accommodating, I believe she's Argentinian, black hair veryy sweet, but we got the other lady she was not bad and the beginning but when our food arrived,, we complained about the extra meat not been in the parilla, she had a fit. She even said someone ate it, we replied lady the food had just arrived. Honestly the worst part was hearing the cook and her arguing about the meat been there. I honestly thinK arguments like that should stay within the two of them but for us to hear I it, it was beyond rude and unacceptable. They gave us the extra meat but with a bad attitude and bad face. Definitely recommend this business! I'm a returning customer and have had dinner there, selected some of their deserts, and stopped by for coffee on a few occasions. As an argentine, I really wanted to like this place. I walked in and there were three employees chatting in a corner. They looked at each other in a sort of, who is going to take the counter look, and one of them came to take my order. I asked a few questions about the menu and got a I-am-bored-out-of-my-mind tone of voice from him. I finally settled on a personal pizza. The pizza was thoroughly overcooked. When I showed this to the counter person, they just shrugged their shoulder and said, "looks good to me." I was too tired to argue so I took it and ate it. It was mediocre, at best. What a wasted opportunity for both of us. For me, to go spend my money at a better place, for them to earn a new customer. read more

Came here for lunch. You have to ask for their lunch specials otherwise they won't tell you nor is it on the menu. Very clean and spacious. The restaurant has a dessert counter and bakery ans although I didn't verify , they may also have a butcher shop as a sign hanging in the store pointed past the wines said so. The food bills itself as Uruguayan , so you will find a lot of meat dishes and pasta. They seem to have larger plates to share if you go in with groups. Staff all wore masks. I would have given them a higher review but the steak I ordered came out very bloody after ordering it well done. And what really got me is the service charge tax on top of the bill. Just an average experience so an average review. I think they would do better if they were more upfront with their customers about the specials and the service charge. read more

My family and I were visiting Miami and were dying to find an authentic Uruguay oven baked pizza. We stumbled across this place on google and saw good images. We arrived and we asked for the dishes we normally know from Uruguay but they didn't have them... no original pizza, no cooked faina (they sell the dough), no posta de pescado. We were disappointed but the service was fast and friendly... we ate a 8in pizza to try it and get it out of our system - it was good but needed more suace. The sandwiches and dessert were good. They promote Argentina & Uruguay all over but the newest owner is Venezuelan... we liked the place just wanted real authentic dishes. read more

Today I was in the mood of eating some good Argentinian food. Driving around Miami I discovered this place. It was very quiet inside. We decided to dine in. After a few minutes of browsing the menu the waitress recommended to have a "Parrilada for two". By the description of the dish we were quite excited to sync our teeth in it. It came with two sides and we chose french fries and a green salad. The beef cuts were cooked as we had requested but the chicken, the sausage, sweet bread, blood sausage, and tripe could have used a little bit more cooking time. I strongly suggest that you ask for two different type of meat temperatures if you visit this restaurant. One for the beef and one for the rest. The overall service was just OK. Just be beware that a 15% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. read more

My GF recommended this place and I decided to take us there to check it out. We went in the evening for dinner and immediately upon entering you get the impression that it's a quiet, cozy, and dare I say romantic venue (cause of the lighting) where two adults can enjoy a great meal. There was even a live piano player. The staff is appropriately and uniformly dressed. The dining area itself is small, but comfortable - especially the booths and it's clean, uncluttered and organized. The rear walls are covered with unopened wine bottles that are all clean and dust-free. There are actually two sides/areas to the restaurant. There's an adjacent bakery next door, but it has different hours than the restaurant although that's where your dessert comes from if you order any. The food itself is excellent. They serve typical food from Argentina and Uruguay that tastes exactly the way you expect it to. We had the Parillada for 2 which more than filled our empty stomachs with generous portions of meat and choice of 2 sides. Yes, the sides and the table bread are a bit small, but clean, tasty and reasonably priced. Our meal was $32 for everything not including drinks and dessert. Oh, and much unlike a previous review, our waitress immediately offered more bread as soon as we ran out! The sangria with dark wine was very refreshing and complimented our food nicely. For desert we had the Chaja which I highly recommend. It was so good that we ordered a 2nd one to go! I'm definitely coming back here. read more

Well came here with high expectations, my coworker said this place was legendary and that it had been there for years. Checked my trusty yelp and saw resonable prices and good food. I got there and the place was completly empty! for lunch? bad sign. sat down and was given a menu where the cheapest thing was 13 dollars... and it was chicken. worse sign. A very honest review. I wouldn't ever come here again. Service is 2/5. The waiters are nice but slow in my opinion. But let's get to the food; cause that's what I came here for. A coworker recommended this place so I sat down and ordered some ñoquis because it is the 29 of the month. A tradition in my country. To begin, food was cold. They didn't have any other sauces except for "Portuguese sauce" (tomato sauce with chicken???). This is an Uruguayan place the least they could do is have some decency and have red/white sauce. I mean ew. When I got my plate and my friends too we all had like 10 ñoquis on a large but empty plate. Considering I gathered 12 people to dine, I was upset I couldn't show my friends what a real tradition is like, with great Argentinean/Uruguayian food. Sad! The food left me very hungry! The real tradition is with many more ñoquis on your plate and NOT a piece of chicken! Perhaps some meat but never chicken. We also had empanadas and also, barely luke warm. Also, no toilet paper in bathroom, though we advised the waiters, they didn't really seem to care and wanted to pump out orders. Which I get, but that is gross. Next time, me and my large group will dine at home and save ourselves the mandatory 18% gratitude and mediocre service and below minimum food. Save your money. read more

20 years ago this place was up there with Graziano's before they got all fancy. Now with the new ownership it's just not the same. I'm sure the parillero is not the same. The servers are definitely not the same so I guess it lost it's charm to me. The bakery next door has more items but even the pastries are nothing compared to what they used to offer. It's not bad but certainly not worth driving 30 mins in traffic like I used to. The new owners did make better use of the space and have more items in the deli and it makes sense- they also own Nuevo Siglo in Little Havana. The service is still good and the food is not bad but it's missing something that the old owners gave it. I was in one of those weird moods where I needed a choripan in my life so I walked into the deli and ordered one. The sausage was great, the bread was fresh, the roughage was fresh and crispy but they didn't offer chimichurri or it's spicier version that I was used to. Again I reiterate, I used to come here 20+ years ago when it was darker and you'd go through a jar of their house made chimichurri as soon as you got fresh bread from the oven because it was had terrific flavor. I was disappointed when asking for "picante" the girl put a big bottle of tabasco in front of me. This place is decent, you can still get authentic products- just not what it once was. read more

Being from Uruguay myself, I am very proud that our little country has made it to the USA in the form of our food through this great restaurant. The staff is very genuinely either Uruguayan or Argentinian (same dialect), so you instantly feel at home. The food is cooked exactly like it would back in the home country too! I highly recommend their parrillada for 2. SO much meat for a great prize. The bakery next door is a MUST for dessert. I do not live in the Miami area so we always go there for lunch before we hit the road and load up on some much needed Uruguayan goodies! I haven't been to the actual restaurant yet, but their butcher shop and bakery have a nice selection of meats. The staff is always attentive and welcoming. Inside the actual shop, they have a couple of seats if you wanted to order a quick meal or pick up something from the bakery. They also serve delicious desserts and empanadas. read more

My husband and I came here for a quick lunch on a weekday because he said he remembered liking it many years back. I ordered the entrana sandwich. It tasted good, but didn't work so well as a sandwich. I ended up having to remove the steak so that I could cut it with a fork and knife. The problem I have with this place is that I felt awkward there for a couple of reasons. The place was kind of empty and really really quiet. I just didn't like the feeling or ambiance. They had no lights on inside the dining area and although light came in through the windows it was a little dark in our corner of the restaurant. I won't be returning because if I want similar food I'd much rather go to La Patagonia which is in the same area and is a much nicer restaurant. read more
