The guacamole was fantastic. I ordered their HH margarita and it was a 9/10. Would definitely order that again. I should've tried this place years ago. It was really good. I gave it. 4 would've gave it 5 but the chilie relleno (poblano pepper ) was not dipped in the egg batter like the menu state it is. Came here last weekend and really enjoyed it. Even though their salsa was basic , I loved it ! The flavor was great and reminded me of a spot I use to go to in another state. Their skinny margarita is great and strong ! Keep in mind that it's a pretty big drink, not sure how skinny it really is lol To eat I ordered the chille relleno and steak and al pastor street tacos. The chille relleno that came out I think was a mistake because it wasn't fried and was just the chile and cheese with sauce , and was like half the chile..we were so confused, but the lady here helped us get what we were looking for and it was good. Presentation, not so much and a little too much sauce that made it soggy, but it tasted good. Loved the tacos too! Def will be back for the marg and chips and salsa tho alone ! read more

I love trying a Mexican restaurant just for the sake of running my own personal MRA (mexican restaurant assessment). It's pretty iconic but it's the judgement of their queso, salsa, and margaritas! A good Mexican restaurant can easily be judged by its apps and margs. I drive past this location all the time and I felt it was time to finally stop in given it's consistently busy. Upon arrival we were immediately seated and greeted. When looking through the menu I was impressed by the size and options. I ended up getting enchiladas verde, as it is often a safe and delicious choice. I will say there was good but not great-- basically I'd order it again but not crave it enough to come back just for that. One of the best parts of this restaurant is their margaritas. It is a huge margarita and it is a little bit pricey for the size but overall tasted great. Overall, it was a good experience; however, nothing was amazing & makes me want to go back tomorrow. read more

The chips were warm, crispy and perfectly salty, while the salsa was fresh. Next, I had probably the best Chimichanga I have ever had! I got mine with the ground beef and it was really delicious. The queso it came with was warm and delicious, the portions were great as well, as pictured. The service was friendly and the overall vibe of the restaurant was lively and cheery. I swear my husband has Mexican blood in him. He always wants to eat Mexican food. I am not so much of a fan as he is, but this place was excellent! The food is hot, fresh and delicious! I believe they use real chicken in their dishes rather than the canned crap that most places use. THAT in and of itself is why I consent to eat there. The food is very good but I was expecting to get a quality Margarita and was very disappointed. I ordered a frozen Margarita and my daughter ordered one on the rocks with no salt. Hers arrived with salt. Both were a very strange green color and mine did not taste anything like a Margarita. I told our server that it didn't taste right and she took it away and then brought it right back saying that they couldn't replace the drink unless I bought another one! Ridiculous! They literally said they would prefer it if we would just leave. They were extremely rude, stated they did not want to serve us and asked us to leave. Good food, I really liked it. But the next time I wanted to eat there I wanted take out. I had a very busy long day, up at 4 am because of a medical emergency. Then I had to work all day. I just wanted to grab a bite and go home and eat. Well, it turns out they will only let you order through Uber eats. You cannot go inside and order your food to go. My gf & I come here about once a month & we've never had a bad experience. Just came here for lunch again, the chips and salsa are great; lightly seasoned, very crisp, & the salsa is perfect. I had the La Favorita this time which is a chimichanga, an enchilada, & rice with beans. The portion sizes are perfect, & the food was good as always with a caveat to their rice; the rice always seems a little over cooked to me but that's my personal opinion. Their service is always quick & friendly, even when they are busy the servers still make you feel welcome & don't try to rush you at all. I went with co-workers. I ordered huevos con chorizo but wanted steak added. Waitress said I could get a side of steak added. Then they brought out my plate with a side plate of steak. Guess she didn't understand. The steak tasted like it was cooked in soy sauce which I thought to be a bit odd. It was ALOT of Chorizo with not a lot of eggs. But I ate it all. Had a slight kick to it. My co worker ordered a burrito that was bigger than the plate it came on. He said it was delicious Chips and salsa were nothing special. Chili's has better. I've been to this place a couple times with my guy during my visits to Florida and found this place to be more authentic than I anticipated. Chips have never been stale and the salsa was always fresh. My favorite is their Fajita Nachos which have not disappointed yet. I also appreciate that they have ice cold Horchata (cinnamon rice water) as a drink option which not many Mexican Restaurants in the Tampa Bay area I have visited, offer. The servers were always attentive and quick and we felt well taken care of. The reason for a decreased star was solely because of who I assume is the manager or co-owner of the place who is not very pleasant and has a rough attitude. I also have a feeling he keeps the servers' tips in which I made sure to hand my tip directly to the servers' once I realized this may be happening. Nonetheless, I would recommend this place and will be coming back. Final Review: I give Los Magueyes a Chef's Kiss. read more

I was really excited to pass by this location to see a "mexican" restaurant in this area after moving into this area. So after 3 passes by, I decided to give it a try last night. The highlight of my experience was the outdoor mural on the building. That's about it. Flipping through the menu, it was fairly extensive however two things bothered me. If it's a Mexican restaurant, why offer American food? Also, what the hell are Chimichangas? Get rid of that but then I thought this place may appeal to a certain audience that like Mexican-American food. So I ordered a regular Margarita which was huge in size but the sour mix was wayyyy to bitter. The salsa and chips came out and of course the salsa was not hot at all. So I asked for something spicier and was given Salsa Verde which was salty as heck. Ugh. Finally I ordered the Steak a la Mexicana which looked great when it was given to me at the table. After a few bites (I was starving and yes I finished it) I realized, the waitress didn't ask how I wanted it cooked. This is a very exclusive place! New Bentley at the curb, very posh! We tried to get a table on a weeknight and had no luck. Plenty of empty tables, but the gentleman by the door would barely speak to us. I think he may have wanted a tip to get seated. Wish we knew, we were very hungry! Great spot with a really good vibe. The jefe margarita was solid, well made, and not overly sweet. Food came out hot and full of flavor, especially the tacos. What stood out most was the atmosphere. The music mix was on point and kept the energy right without being too loud. The fish tank is a nice touch and adds character to the space. Service was relaxed and friendly. Very impressive menu! One of the Best Mexican restaurant I've found so far since I moved here. So much to chose from, I tried the Mole chicken and it was great! I look forward to trying some of the burritos, they look great! We got there pretty early, no wait and plenty of seating. The place is very clean and the decor is done up right. Food is good, and service was fast but they may as well charge you to breathe in there. No free refills on chips (small basket too) and salsa. Just that alone would have made me walk out if I was not with family. Extra charge for cheese enchiladas, extra charge for sour cream, extra charge for soft tacos instead of hard, a sharing fee if you split a plate with somebody. After taking first sip, notified my server who said she could not take it off the bill nor did she offer to make it right. I asked for the mgr . She said she was the mgr. Said she could not do anything with the marg so I would be charged. Too ridiculus since there was 3 of us there to eat and she choose to make us angry over a $7 marg.
