Came here on a Friday evening. Even though the parking lot was full and the place looked packed we were seated immediately. The food was great! I was craving Chile Colorado but the only thing I could find similar on the menu was Chile Rojo. I ordered it thinking it would be close enough. It was a little different and actually had an unfamiliar sauce that was really tasty. I also had a Chile Relleno and it was the best thing I've eaten in awhile. This use to be a Great place to dine with my husband. Unfortunately tonight was the worst dinning experience we've ever had. Upon requesting more tortillas and chips my husband had to get up to get them himself. The Trio Fajitas were cold as opposed to steaming hot & sizzling. We asked for the manager and there's no manager on the floor so we didn't know who's running the restaurant. Well I guess this is the last time we dine here. Sadly, this place is in decline! Food is tasteless and service is strange and slow. We had a party of six; no one "love their food". No flavor! Sloppy presentation and way over cooked shrimp. I had to attend a health education class at the Carson Kaiser facility. So, the perfect way to prepare for that is to go have a great greasy lunch. I drove down and found this place, quite by accident. It was fate, however, that I would walk in. The restaurant itself isn't anything fabulous, but it was clean and the music wasn't blaring. (At least when I went in for lunch.) I heard a TV on somewhere, but I didn't see it, where I was seated. The menu is extensive and inexpensive. That is a great combination! Speaking of combinations, most of them were a perfect size, especially given the serving sizes of the food. Two types of salsa and chips are brought to your table. One salsa is a little sweeter, which some people really like and the other is the typical salsa that you get served in Mexican restaurants. The sweet one is better with something else, more on that later. The typical salsa has a great flavor but it isn't too hot. The first time I went, I got the chiles rellenos plate. They were perfect. The batter/egg mixture wasn't too thick or greasy. The chiles were perfectly roasted (maybe from a can? who cares?) and were stuffed with a white cheese. The two of them were smothered in a tomato-based sauce with celery and onion in it. Sometimes that kind of sauce can be overpowering, but here it was the perfect accent to the chiles and cheese. The beans. Well, those of you who follow my reviews know that is all i really care about at Mexican places. The rest of the food can be crap, as long as the beans are refried and tasty. These beans did not let me down. They did put a little cheese on top, which is fine. Some places put too much, but here, it was perfect. A good garnish on a pile of beany goodness. Had the place been empty, I might have licked the plate. I ordered the corn tortillas. They weren't too overcooked to the point of hardness nor were they undercooked and still hard. They were pliable and moist and tasted almost homemade. (Maybe they are, but I suspect they are from a tortilleria.) I came back the week after, before my 2nd class. I got the barbacoa this time. Success! It was tender and flavorful. Some places make it too greasy, but they did not. They bring you a boat of onions, cilantro and limes to add to your barbacoa. I dumped it all because I don't care if I have onion/cilantro breath when I leave. (Ok, I do care, but that is why God invented spearmint gum.) Again, had the place been empty, I would have tipped the plate to drink down the juices. I restrained myself. (this time) The sweeter table salsa (see, I told you I'd come back to it.) was a good complement to the barbacoa. Each of those meals was served with a simple salad. Lettuce, some carrot, a little red cabbage, some sliced radishes. I don't eat much salad dressing, so I added some lime juice, pepper and a spoon full of the salsa. Delicious. It is open 24 hours, always a plus. They were freshening up the paint when I was there, so it looks better than it did. The waitresses both times were attentive. The older one was sweet. Food is good but a little over priced. Went with my girl on a slow afternoon tried to play a game of Scrabble while we ate to enjoy the atmosphere. Restaurant was maybe 1/3rd full at the time. at some point one of the waitresses said the owner wants us to leave because "we are restaurant not a game store". We both had ordered food didn't complain about the slower then usual service because it worked for our gameplay. Thought it was rude to say that considering they had more then half the restaurant empty and we were not being rambunctious and paying customers. The only way anyone can possibly enjoy the food here is if they were drinking or already shitfaced when they got here. The place seems cute, relatively clean, but the servers act weird and if youre with an attractive women they will either ignore her or be weirdly rude. Theres a heavy energy to the place and it seems like shady stuff is probably going on in the back because they DO NOT care about the food. We asked for green salsa and they brought us some weird warm sauce that was full of pork? We ordered Shrimp al Mojo de Ajo and they gave us like 5 little pieces covered in Lawry's salt over a plate of rice and french fries, not one piece of garlic anywhere to be seen. The food is good but they've changed how you order and pay for your meals if you are sitting down. You now order, pay and tip before you are seated. Some say it's strange and one person tried to tell me 'You do the same thing when you go to McDonald's' I simply told him 'This is not McDonald's and if you are trying to make a comparison to the two you are doing this place a disservice.' My friend that was with me asked me why they changed to this format and said 'It's easy to see, the busser is bring us food, cleaning tables and ohhh look there...he's the bartender also, there is NO wait staffing'. I ordered the chilaquiles with 'carne asada' - pictured a flank steak, but you actually get a different cut of meat (cheaper cut) - Milanese. This was our first covid outing. Food was great!!! The carne asada fries have street-taco like asada, and shredded cheese. My husband like these so much better than Super Gallito down the street. There are a lot of competing restaurants in the area but this place is pretty great. I doubt you'd be disappointed! My only complaint is that I almost got run over by someone backing up in the parking lot who didn't notice I was sitting down at a table. Just ate here for the first time and it was okay. The food hit in some areas but missed in others.. Chips and salsa: chips are okay, grainy corn flavor with no salt. They serve two salsas with the chips, both lack flavor- I had to add a good amount of salt and even then, it tasted old. The drinks: the husband ordered a bottle of DOS XX, and although the bottle was cold- they gave him a room temperature mug to put his drink in.. a beer mug should be cold. He was better off drinking from the bottle. The food: everything we ordered that required frying, had an "old oil" taste to it. What's ok/good Beans: I would definitely order a bean and cheese burrito from this spot, their beans are delish! Sope: the carne asada was good, the sope shell was thick and crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, although it does not come with sour cream or guacamole. Chile relleno: it was good, I liked the sauce and the cheese inside- they could have been a bit more generous with both. The chicken and potato tacos: they were good, served with lettuce, tomato and Pico de Gallo- they are kinda skimpy with their fillings, I'm used to healthy stuffed tacos- these seemed to be on a bit of a diet. I think we would have enjoyed them more if the shell didn't have that "old oil" taste. It messed with the overall flavor. What's not so good: Cheese: they add A LOT of cheese- so if you are not a HUGE cheese fan you may want to ask them to lightly cheese your items. Rice: the rice is a traditional Spanish rice with veggies in it, but definitely seems that they are using frozen veggies, didn't taste at all fresh (kinda rubbery). It was edible, just okay though. The waitstaff: Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us multiple times, and our food came out pretty quickly and they had a pretty full dining room. Overall, it was ok. The fact that they are open 24 hours is a big plus and is convenient for those late night dinners. They also serve breakfast 24 hours.. so there's that. read more

I visited this place today, from the beginning everything was bad, the dirty chairs I had to clean it thinking okay maybe someone just got up, then the cutlery was dirty I asked them to change it, my incomplete meal, my tortillas never arrived, later while we were eating a hair came out on my meal! Horrible customer service. Had dinner with the family and was sitting outside it took a good 10 minutes for a waitress to assist us. After taking our order and serving us the waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. We waited quite a long time for our waitress to notice us so we can get the check. We looked over and our waitress along with another one is taking shots with a customer. My daughter walked in and had to request the bill. They brought it out and had a gratuity of $25 for reals. No way am I giving out waitress a tip for no service. I am one to leave an amazing tip. I went inside to discuss the tip and the waitress had an attitude. SOOOOOOO delicious! We've come here twice now since moving to the area and have been impressed by the home-cooked feel to each item we've ordered. The staff is welcoming and the tables are clean. I love the chicken flautas, my kids drool over their grilled cheese ( don't @ me, they eat what they eat. We've tried to get them to order a burrito or something. hahah). I've been Here several times and have had excellent service and excellent food every time. The wait staff was trained with service in mind. The food is flavorful and not smothered in cheese. This was not intended to be my first review of this year - that review has been sitting in draft since last month - but I am compelled to write this review as I'm sitting here because it won't be long (which is rare for me) and, apparently, low star reviews are much easier for me to compose than high star ones. Yes, Mexican food is my soul food. The environment is nothing special. Kind of cafeteria style. Which is fine. Great food and drinks override atmosphere for me, hands down. The restaurant is easy to view from the street and there is plenty of parking. I came for a drink. I am having the larger sized Cadillac Margarita with two shots of Grand Marinier. (Don't judge me - I can handle my licka.) It's aiite. Taste is nothing special. I don't feel anything yet. (Do I have a problem?!?) I decided to try a sope just to see if I'd return for food... I won't. The food is just blah. The chips are whatever. I think Tostitos taste better. I have two salsas in front of me and sista likes options! But neither is anything memorable. Not horrible. But not good. Striking out with two salsas?!? Salsa and chips are one of my many weaknesses. These just aren't working for me. The vegetarian sope (without lettuce, with extra cheese) was very bland, even after I added way too much pepper and salt to it. Service is meh. Not horrible. Not great. Kind of distant. Two servers are eating together at a table here. I'm not sure how I feel about that... on the one hand, it's cool - I like that they can enjoy the food (if they are) in the open and not be confined to a back room. On the other hand, I'm not cool with it because they are not on break. They keep getting up and serving the customers as they are chewing. I don't like that. I also don't like that I was told my super-sized margarita would be $10 and my check details $12.50. My disclaimer - I could be the minority here with my assessment. Maybe I came on an off day. A party of 13 was just seated. And the Yelp star rating for here isn't terribly low. But I won't be returning. Is this review still long? They always have my food ready when I go to pick it up and even when I ask for extra stuff they always accommodate. Been going during COVID for pick up only but they do follow COVID regulations and are now dining inside. I love their nacho fries with Chile Verde and the Asada too. To be honest, im giving this place a 4 star because of their chilaquiles and their good service. Been going to this place a lot for breakfast after work. Good authentic mexican food and great mexican vibe. They even play mariachi music. The chili verde chilaquiles with carne asada and a runny egg is the best I've ever had. I just went to eat there and all the staff and I mean all of them did not attend us once food was served, I waited 15 minutes to get salsa that I had to go get while all the girls/ladies that work there were gossiping, flirting with the cooks hanging out with customers literally sitting with them. All the staff did was joke around laughing with each other. So unprofessional I won't be returning because of the staff. I give the staff 0 stars. I hate writing bad reviews but the two wet burritos costed $30 and they were nasty. Verde sauce was straight out of a can. We were not told ahead of time that shrimp costed $5 extra so when we asked why it came out to so much, the young lady working cashier took it personally. She had an attitude for everything. Every other food place will give you a heads up when something costs extra, so I'm not sure why she had such an issue answering simple questions. The menu clearly says $11.99 for your choice of meat, doesn't say anything about an upcharge, so it was a valid question to ask. The food was way overpriced for how bad it was and how small the portion is. My beef burrito came with only refried beans and soggy shredded beef. I've never had a burrito this way. I wanted carne asada. They give you a sad little salad on the side with thousand island dressing which got all mixed into the burrito and was really horrible. It didn't go with the food. I expected at least beans and rice for their prices. They also put some shredded beef into the shrimp burrito which was not cool. I could have asked what came in the burritos but the girl made it clear she was not enjoying answering any questions about the food so I trusted that it would come out okay.
