My husband and I tried the Lost Dog Cafe last weekend and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere felt like a pub for locals and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The menu had many items I would like to try which isn't usually the case for me. Lots of menus have only 1 or 2 things I'm interested in. But this night, we were both out for pizza. All their pizzas are 12" and there is plenty of toppings to choose from. We started with a Cesear Salad and it was yummy. We both really enjoyed our pizza and would definitely order it again. The dough tasted fresh and there were plenty of toppings on them. Wine prices were more reasonable than many places we've dined lately. That was a bonus! The Innkeeper's of the inn where we were staying recommended the Lost Dog, but we thought they meant the one in Orleans, it was actually the one in Dennis. We ate at both and they were both vastly different which is strange as the same owner has them both. We arrived and it took a few minutes for someone to come over and seat us in the restaurant as the bar was full. The food was mediocre, the Mac and Cheese was really flavorless. The cheese sauce was creamy but lacking a nice rich cheese flavor. The bathroom wasn't very clean and I always look at that as being representative of the restaurant. This was a favorite for many years, it's gone downhill in the last couple. The food was awful and expensive. I figured once was good, but when it got to the third time, I crossed off my list. Let's start by pointing out that it was in mid 20's today and this place inexplicably did not have their heat on. There was no reason given...just that, ""yep, it cold in here." A senior couple came in and definitely left before their food came because of the cold. A call to the board of health would shut this place down instantly, if someone wanted to. Now, the food. Think a homeless man's Friendly's. My turkey club wasn't bad necessarily, it's just that I could have easily made it myself at home. Wife got the grilled cheese made with a single piece of cheese. The server was as cold as the temperature in the room. I get it. These dives are part of Cape Cod's charm, but not this one. There is nothing redeemable about it. read more

To start with, the restaurant loses points for not having their menu on their website. Their website directs you to their Facebook page for a menu, where you will find poorly taken photographs of a menu that require you to zoom in to read. Not professional of them. My husband took the kids here while I was in class, and brought me take home. I asked for the Wednesday special of short ribs. Right away there was an issue, this very wet dish was packaged in cardboard, which had leaked before my husband even got to the car in the parking lot of the restaurant. The meal is described as "slow cooked, tender beef short ribs with pan au jus, mashed potatoes and vegetables" $25. When it arrived home, I was disappointed to find all the au jus had leaked out of the package, leaving behind what was not actually short ribs, but dried out pot roast. The mashed potatoes defied logic and were both lumpy and soupy at the same time. The vegetables were just ok, bland. This dish was not worth $25. I'm appalled the restaurant has tried passing off pot roast as short ribs. I wish I had been able to dine in the restaurant with my family so I could have refused the dish upon serving instead of wasting $25. read more

Lousy food. We ordered chicken Caesar salad to go. Coconut shrimp and scallops wrapped in bacon. The Caesar salad was ok, but the chicken that accompanied the salad was in its own container, unseasoned and burnt. Both the scallops and shrimp were not fresh. My boyfriend and I stopped at the Lost Dog Pub for drinks and appetizers on Friday night. We arrived around 4:30pm and there was no wait. To drink we had a painkiller and a glass of sangria and to eat we had a bowl of French onion soup and the seafood chowder. Everything was delicious and I loved the pub-like atmosphere! We keep trying in hope of it getting better. We used to love coming here on our first night on the Cape. We ordered a to go pizza and calamari. We didn't eat either. Calamari was burnt and the pizza was cold and tasted awful. My first restaurant outing in months, and Lost Dog did not disappoint! We sat outside at picnic tables and our order was promptly taken. I got blackened salmon over garden salad. Perfectly cooked salmon melted in my mouth. Generous salad of fresh veggies. My husband had Hawaiian pizza and was very impressed- particularly with the light crust. What a joke!!! So very disappointed. Out of staters beware. Me (23-covered in tattoos) and my fiancé (24) drove 30 minutes from where we are staying in Hyannis to go to this pub that we were trying to frequent for our third time. Never again. Very rude and IGNORANT waitress, owner and bartender berated us and called our ID's fake because we are from CT with CTDL's. We offered all the forms of ID a sane person would bring on vacation and nothing would suffice for them. How ridiculous for someone from one state over to be given this much trouble, just to have a sangria with their meal!?! They really are that dense and uninformed at lost dog! I will never be back!!! Had the doggie dip, it was BRIGHT pink and cold, which means it wasn't cooked at all. The waitress said the meat is supposed to be cold? And the dip is supposed to be hot? I mean, I've had French dips before (which that's what it is) and every other time the meat is warm and cooked as well as the dip. My husband lost his appetite just looking at it. We ordered drinks, appetizers and salads, a long trip and past 8pm meant we were starving. We figured it was a quick solution. The garden salads were 8 dollars each! They were on the larger size and made with romaine so I wasn't too upset. The chicken fingers were The frozen kind. Though nice and crisp and they accommodated us with sauces we wanted. The drinks left something to be desired. Neither of us loved them, the Orleans Cosmo and the lavo. I love this place! It's a great "townie" style pub where everyone is very friendly even if you're not a regular. The pizza is some of the best on the cape, crispy with cornmeal crust which I'm a huge fan of. The chef is always making great specials like last week a pistachio crusted parmesan wing that was out of this world. He also makes the best seafood stew I've ever had! After driving onto the Cape during the March 3 rain storm, we were leaving during a snowstorm and ended up here as most places had no electricity. Boy, am I glad we did! We came here after golf for a late lunch. The food was better than I expected (given the relatively low Yelp rating). The beer selection was good (not just a bunch of IPAs). Our server "Tee" was pleasant. We did not have to wait long for the food, the drinks, or the bill to come. The chowder and the sandwiches were all quite good (I recommend the Cod Ivan). I'm not sure why anyone rated this place low, as we all enjoyed our food and drinks, and we'll definitely come back next time we're in the Orleans area (give it 4-1/2 stars). read more

Waitress was great...checking in constantly to make sure everything is good. Food served very fast which is great and the wings and pizza are good. Always on top of things and effort is very noticeable. Stopped by here for lunch after a three plus hour drive to the Cape and we were starving. It was quite busy for lunch, but it was Thanksgiving weekend. We sat at the bar and order a drink. I wish they had a couple more unique drink options, but I ultimately went with a cosmo. For lunch, I had a grilled a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich and it was tasty and a good size portion with fries I couldn't finish.
