I had to give 4 stars and not 5 to Lost Dogstyle because the French fries were really bad grease sponges, not fresh. But the lobster roll was really good. It was really, really good. THE SERVICE WAS GREAT. The guys bartending (all I can speak for is the bar) were very friendly and on-the-ball and although my wife can attest I like women I really think the bar guys did a good job as well as who made the lobster roll. (The bun was one of those weird pieces of Mass. bun slitted that falls apart & sure ain't no Chicago Vienna poppyseed bun, but it was still, again, a great lobster roll.) read more

We went to this restaurant because the menu looked decent and it was around the corner from our inn. We were quoted 30 minutes for a wait, we're planning on going to the Christmas tree shop next door but we were called 4 minutes after speaking to hostess. I ordered the spinach and roasted garlic ravioli and the hubby ordered ribs. My food was ok, the menu stated that it was served in an olive oil sauce but it was definitely a white wine sauce. Overall, it was acceptable. The decor is quite outdated, the bathrooms kinda nasty, and the service decent (but slow). The food was decent. The stuffed mushroom caps were not very good, but the NE clam chowder was a delight! My wife had the rack of ribs (which the server got slightly wrong when putting in the order)...the ribs were yummy and had a great smoky flavor. I had the Captain's Club (a fried fish sandwich) and asked for onion rings instead of fries. All was well with my food. We stopped here for dinner after our pervious dinner plans fell through. The menu had great gluten free options, which I always appreciate. THe service was fine. Unfortunately, the food was only okay. I ordered fish which was supposed to come with a mango salsa on it, and it didn't have any salsa in sight. Additionally, my broccoli was essentially raw. Everyone else in my party said their food was fine, but nothing to write home about. There's nothing wrong with this place, it's a fine spot for pub food and it seems like the atmosphere at the bar is fun. In my opinan, there are better more special food options available. read more

I just had dinner with my friend, and explicitly told the bartender that I had an allergy to mushrooms. He placed on the order ticket no mushrooms, not ALLERGY to mushroom. Upon waiting for our food we were having a great time. When our food arrived we were anxiously awaiting to take the first few bites! I had ordered the special Roast Beef Club. Remember earlier how I said I was allergic to mushrooms the thing was covered in it. Smothered actually! I had already taken a bite of the sandwich before I had realized it was too late!!!! I rushed to the bathroom in a panic to make myself throw up because I can get a horrible rash and my throat can get extremely itchy and irritated. After the fiasco in the restroom I came back out needing water and lots of it. They had reserved me the sandwich that I never asked for to be remade nor had I wanted it to be because I was now traumatized from the last one. They just dropped it in front of me, and ran away without telling me if they were going to comp the meal that I had ordered or even take a percentage off my bill. At the end I was handed my bill and upset because nothing was taken care of also nobody off the managers team cared to say anything. I called the manager over to talk to him. Chad the manager of The Lost Dog got overly aggressive with me and started making fun of me when I was trying to ask to lower or take care of the bill. He said absolutely not and did nothing to help me after his kitchen staff almost killed me. I have never in my life been treated with such disrespect after such an event! An establishment such as this should treat their customers with a little more respect, and if they try killing someone comp the bill instead of fighting with the customer. THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! It doesnt matter how you feel as an owner or employee of that establishment the consumer is always right! If you dont want to pay for my meal train your staff better on awareness of allergies. Your staff made a mistake and now it is your responsibility to take care of the problem which has taken place with humility not fighting with me as the consumer to your place of business. You have embarrassed yourself and the workplace you spread your name under. You sir need to be held responsible for what happen at your establishment not tell me I'm overreacting. Quite disappointed with our dinner. My wife ordered steak tips cooked medium, we had to send them back after they were brought us very rare. I ordered a burger which had an odd taste to it and the bun was stale. We also ordered a kids meal for my son which came with undercooked fries. It tasted as if the refrigeration isn't working properly in their kitchen, there was definitely something wrong with the meat. The waitress was great and attentive, she didn't charge me for the burger which was nice. To top it off, we ordered a coke and it tasted flat. NEVER in my life have I ever been treated so rudely! Do NOT go there!!!! One of two children was not delivered food! The drinks were awful but server never checked on us so we had to have something to drink over half an hour. Sat for over 20 mins before those came even. Salad was supposed to be appetizer. Came with meal. My daughter ate my salad because she was delivered NO food! Cold fries delivered with my meal. Then a server came and asked her "did you order food??" When brought to managers attention he argued with me. I told him I would not pay for cold and missing meals or the salad because she HAD to eat SOMETHING!!!! Then he threatened law enforcement. Then he Came and told us he would take care of the meal and we would leave. Nice! I was NOT yelling. I was NOT causing a scene. I called up the Lost Dog sight-unseen, just a few days before my friend's Cape Cod wedding, to set up the after-party. I'd never been there, just knew it was a stone's throw from the hotel where most of the guests were staying. Jeremy, Chad, and Nancy were so nice and helpful, setting aside the dining room for us and arranging to roll out apps and pizzas as soon as we started to arrive! Thanks as well to the cocktail waitresses who ran like heck to make sure our rowdy crowd got drinks, separate checks, and kind, friendly service. We had 5 people and a toddler and had great service. We tend to be picky about our food and this was excellent. Two of us had the special Cod Bennett. It was very spicy but excellent. The others has the cod club, bread bowl of chowder, and spinach mushroom ravioli. Everyone was very pleased with their meal. Service was pleasant and quick. They were very attentive as well. This place should be called "The Dirty Dog". The minute we walked in the door of the establishment i could smell some disgusting odor like a disinfectant. We were seated in the dining room which was down a ramp. The carpet was filthy and had not been vacuumed, there was a huge stain in the middle of it. There was a dirty rag hanging from the rail on the way down the ramp and the wooden blinds on the windows were filty, huge dirt spots and very dusty. Our waitress was plesant but very casually dressed in jeans and a shirt. Our food was ok. Fries were soggy. I definitely wouldn't go back there. read more

Great dinner last night; we had very delicious starters, mussels and oyster tacos- all from the specials menu. We were surprised by the great variety of the menu and the quality of the food. Yum yum yum! Broccoli bites were excellent! Plates were a great size. The scallop roll was perfect. Light batter, not greasy, not rubbery. Hubby's Captain's Club was an excellent piece of fish. Daughter's burger was perfect, big and juicey. Little daughter's kids'pasta was a huge portion. And contrary to a previous review, the fries were just right! Good beer rounded out an excellent meal! The adult meal was OK. Fries were rock hard but sandwich was good. Ordered three kids meals. They were AWFUL. Chicken patty was like shoe leather, they too hated the fries. Grilled cheese was toasted bread with a slice of cheese (not melted) in between. Ice cream dessert....a hood cup (vanilla/chocolate with wooden spoon) if you don't want kids in there, don't offer a kids menu. read more

We've been going to the Dog for quite a few years. Always liked the atmosphere, and the burgers are good, service fine. Not too expensive and it's a nice place to go on an off night. Don't want to cook and don't want to go fancy. Perfect for that. My favorite has always been their French Dip. Warm roast beef, crunchy French roll, nice au jus. Well that's over. We were there a few nights ago, ordered the Doggie Dip (French Dip) and it was horrible. Ice cold roast beef. Not even room temperature, it was chilled. Soggy roll. Cold au jus. All the things you expect weren't there. But ok, the kitchen forgot to heat the beef and didn't crunch the roll. Right? Nope. The waitress told us that they are supposed to be cold. And dipping it in the au jus would heat it. Well it really wasn't good and we may go back, but we are wary. Three stars for old times sake. But for this meal one star would be too much. read more

After a long work week my friend and I drove down to the cape. We arrived very late and were starving. I remembered having a GREAT experience at the Lost Dog last summer and decided to give them another try. We got here at 12:25 right before last call and the bartenders were still SO welcoming and more than happy to have us. We had such a good time that we came back the following night. Again the food and atmosphere was so great and so much fun. ROB the bartender is specifically so nice and more than happy to talk and accommodate you. Our table started with potato skins and mozzarella sticks. I didn't like the fact the potato skins had raw big size pieces of pepper, onions and tomatoes. Strange. Mozzarella sticks were decent. The glass must have been filled with 99% of the cheapest rum out there. It burned as I tried to swallow it. Never again. I'll stick with the bottled stuff too, hello Mike's Hard Lemonade! Main courses consisted of fish or sirloin tips. Since I hate fish, I stuck with the cow. I asked to substitute mash and veg for french fries but didn't get it. Plate was returned to get what I wanted. I would say overall, everyone liked their food. It was hot, seasoned well and no overall complaints in the taste department. Unfortunately I save the service for last. Ouch!! Our waitress was not attentive, had an attitude and it was probably too much to ask for extra napkins because those were thrown down on the table. My boyfriend orders a second beer well before I asked for Mike's Hard and mine comes out before his. Personality of a wet mop and it felt like we were inconveniencing her by asking for basic stuff like water and napkins. The DOG is great for late night pizza and drinks. They have a band on some nights during the summer but if there is not band the jukebox is great too. The bartenders are friendly and offer great drinks. If you are vacationing in the area this is a good spot to hang out. read more

Staff really couldn't be nicer! They're friendly, accommodating & welcoming. Great chowder, rivals Legal Seafood, imo. They undercooked my burger, quickly brought another, which was a bit undercooked also, but tasted good. The waitress was appropriately attentive and gave me a free drink for my burger troubles. In all, a great spot. Even with the first Patriot's game on tonight (which I'd forgotten about) they didn't mind a solo person taking up a whole booth. Stumbled on this restaurant after leaving Nauset Beach and heading back west on the Cape... Pleasantly surprised by the experience. Very tasty dinner. Attentive service. Excellent pizza (the Meatle Mania) -- meat (sausage, pepperoni, and ham) juicy and fresh, flavorful tomato sauce, great dough. Calamari appetizer above average. Half necks seemed fresh. Good salad with grilled chicken. Healthy portions. Nice selection of draft beers. Good atmosphere -- dark and lively bar area with TVs ( Go Sox!) / back room with comfortable booths . Walked over from our hotel spur of the moment. We were told the kitchen was closing so order fast. We had oysters and boneless chicken wings. Both we great! If not rushed we might have ordered more substantially, the kitchen was still putting out food when we left.....
