Did some grocery shopping at this store after eating dinner at Hwa Gae Jang Tuh and dropping by Shilla Bakery. It is always packed, people constantly get in my way and are so inconsiderate and rude! Even the frickin' Hispanic employees can't understand English and won't even bag your groceries. Like, we asked for a plastic bag and simply handed us an empty bag instead of putting the items in for us. I mean isn't it their job to put the checked out items into the bags instead of handing us the bags?!? What's the point of working there if you're just gonna give a bag to the customer to do your job?! Anyways, the Korean grocery store has a good selection of Korean food items, snacks, drinks, fruits, veggies, noodles, seafood, etc. You really have to check the produce as some may be too old to buy. Noticed some of the fruits were too soft and old. Also saw some barcodes and price tags that said, 'Out of Stock,' but the items were still on the shelf or in the cooling sections. There are 3 reasons why I am so regretful I bothered visiting this Lotte again today. LTDR: DON'T BOTHER SHOPPING AT THIS LOTTE! I truly wish I had read the review of this store before stepping in there. I can definitely understand why there was a COVID case at one of their stores after my experience tonight. First, as I was looking for sliced pork belly to purchase, I witnessed an older male customer taking his mask off in the middle of a shopping aisle and he proceeded to cough and sneeze and spit into a shelf. As if that alone wasn't horrifying enough, he did the same thing after we made eye contacts TOWARDS ME. I was most likely less than 15 feet away but I felt horrified. So I quickly got my items and tried to get in line for checkout. I just wanted to get out of there asap. I felt disgusting and wanted to go home and take a shower. There was 4 cash registers open with a huge line snaking line wrapping around the deli and refrigerated items aisle. I wanted to take a peek at the prices of rice not far from the register and got yelled at by 2 caucasian females mistakenly assuming I was trying to cut in front of them in line. The two women yelled at me to get in line that starts all the way back in the deli aisle with everyone else. So much for trying to look at some other items before getting the hell outta there. Nope. Once I was in line for checkout, customers queued on the taped or stickerd marks on the ground. The problem is that not only the distances were definitely not at least 6 feet apart but customers were really close behind me not respecting any social distancing protocols. What made the whole experience even more obnoxious was that there was at least 4-5 store clerks loitering and not doing anything --not stocking items, not telling the customers to NOT cough, sneeze, or spit without a mask, or not ringing people up so there isn't a huge snaking line of very frustrated customers to yell at customers like me. They were there all along watching this unfold and didn't do SHIT about it. Finally, as my husband was helping me put away items into our car trunk, another customer (?) came up very close to us inspecting what we bought and trying to take them. I didn't feel safe having a complete stranger so close to me WITHOUT A MASK ON and essentially attempting to mug us. Again, there was another Lotte store clerk staring at the whole situation and not doing anything about it. After what happened today at this Lotte location, it's very unlikely I'll ever be returning--the lack of safety, cleanliness, overall apathy displayed by store employees really was disappointing. The very thought that any given items within the store shelves are legitimately covered in someone's sputum, sneeze, or cough alone is disturbing. Sorry but not sorry, you've lost me for good today. I really wouldn't recommend anyone going there --it's not worth getting nearly mugged or getting sick. read more

I dislike this grocery store more and more after they kept getting greedier and greedier. They kept increasing their prices again and again. Hisbiscus tea was $3.99/lb during the pandemic. It's now $10.99/lb. In comparison to H-Mart and Korean Korner, their prices are several dollars more or almost double the cost for some items (e.g. fish cakes, imitation crab meat). I stopped buying their fish cakes and won't be buying imitation crab meat from them either ($5.99/lb for fish cakes at H-Mart vs $10.99/lb at Lotte; $5.99 at Korean Korner vs $9.99 at Lotte for the same exact brand of imitation crab meat). They advertise one price in their sales ad, but they sale items at a higher price in the store. An example is spicy bulgogi for $7.99/lb in their sales ad, but $8.99/lb in the store. I hope Lotte goes out of business soon for being so greedy and that another grocery store would take over. Stopped in for a few items on a Saturday afternoon. I was surprised how well lit and well stocked this store was. Lots of fresh produce in addition to all the shelf stable items, kimchi and spices you might need. I came especially for the rice cake and ttokboki sauce which were both easy to find. Also bought some frozen dumplings and some honey sticks and churro snacks. At the end, the lines moved quickly and there were fresh snacks being made right outside the store! Bottom line: Would return to do my regular weekend shopping here! read more

One of my favorite places to grocery shop and is basically a one place hit for all of your East and South East Asian and Hispanic groceries. They carry more variety than Great Wall in my opinion but the prices are sometimes a little bit higher. Do not buy your American goods here, those items are definitely overpriced. My favorite part of Lotte is the small shopkeeper outside of the entrance! It's $2 for a red bean mochi fish and it comes in vanilla and chocolate as well. They also serve roasted sweet potatoes and walnut cakes! Definitely grab a treat before going back home. read more

Rating the sushi spot inside the Lotte Market. Sushi Corner. Some of the best sushi I've ever gotten from a fast grab spot. The quality is always good. I've purchased lunch or dinner here over a dozen times and am always happy. The fish is good quality, the wasabi is always fresh and everyone who works there is friendly. So it seems Lotte wants a piece of Hmart? Well, this location could use some sprucing up to match what I've seen at other Hmarts. Nevertheless, Lotte still had a good produce selection - really good okra - and the fish looked extremely fresh, especially the snapper. If I lived in Rockville, Lotte would be a go-to for seafood imo. However, there weren't that many prepared foods available - although lots of kimchees and other small banchan seem to be on hand - but nothing that I saw for a take-home meal except for some sad sushi. The in-store bakery was on the small side but maybe with the nearby Shilla Bakery, you don't really expect to compete much with them (Shilla seems to be teaming up with Lotte as Tous Les Jours bakery seems to be associated with Hmart). read more

This is a well-known Korean grocery store that has moved from the Aspen Hill location a few years ago. One thing I do appreciate about Lotte is that compared to their competitors, when items are on sale, 9/10 items are not close to expiration. However, many of their produce is half rotten, and if you switch out one bad apple for a good one out of the box, the manager man comes and yells at you. Their customer service is horrible - almost every employee who works behind the desk is mean and miserable. I think there's many two employees behind the desk I've seen actually smile and greet you. They have a large section of ready foods such as kimbap, tukkbokkgi, japchae, kimchi, soups and stews, and sushi. They were all tasty, fresh, and when close to closing time, they are discounted. read more

I only decided to trek into this place because I saw the word "International" in the corner of my eye as I drove by and decided to turn around to check it out. When I entered, I had started from the right - I saw mostly Korean and I think Japanese items. Just as I was about to leave, I saw an aisle labeled as "American" and another as "Hispanic", so I am thinking to myself, I wonder if they have a "Caribbean" aisle - discovered they don't, but I saw the word was listed as a sub-heading on one of the signs, so I decided to check it out. By this time, I am on the complete opposite side of the store from where I started. I found about 4 sections within one of the aisle that has some products - I even saw some things I used to have back in the day like Cheese in a can and Grace Chicken Noodle Soup. They also have quite a lot of Jerk Seasonings (Mild, Hot Spicy), Jerk Marinade and even Jerk Barbeque. I saw some Sorrel too (used to make a drink around the holidays, but I didn't drink it growing up as I felt it was too spicy for me - similar to me not liking cinnamon either) and some Milo (mix it with your hot or cold milk). I am curious to know how the prices for the items in this aisle compare to some of the other Caribbean stores in another part of town - I will know soon enough, but for now it is good to know I can get these items at this spot. read more

I like Lotte in Ellicot city for good sales and meat quality. A bit too far for me. This store in Rockville has a major problem to charge incorrect price almost every time I shop here. I had to constantly monitor what they charge for each item. Not honoring advertised sales prices, ringing higher priced items, etc. and the cashier doesn't even say sorry even after I caught price mistake. Who would shop here again if they constantly ring wrong prices. This Rockville Lotte has a major casher problem. read more

This is one of my favorite Korean stores in the area, for a few reasons. I'll start with basics: It's very clean, well spaced (nothing crammed too full in the shelves), has a selection of Korean ingredients as well as other foods from other cultures, and a large produce array. I really like that they have an array of fresh seasonal Korean foods. For instance, this week is chuseok, and they had tons and tons of songpyeon (a rice cake, the counterpart, yet not the same as a mooncake). There's always someone making food in the back, whether kimchi or kimbap. The employees have a good knowledge of what is in stock (today they didn't have any injeolmi, so I didn't spend fifteen minutes trying to find it). I really could spend hours here just finding fun things to buy, so come with a list! read more

UPDATE: be careful shopping here. On over several occasions I have noticed that the price tags advertised on the shelves did not match what was in the computer. This kind of thing can happen once in a while - whatever. But the last time I shopped there, THREE items were mislabeled / misentered in the computer. I thankfully am in a position where the $3.50 difference causes me no real-world stress, but this is straight up dishonesty and can't be supported. We, as consumers, need to call BS. I told the manager and received the price adjustment (after they begrudgingly confirmed I was right). Fuck this place. Update 2: I HATE the fact that this place also has aggressive signs everywhere telling their employees they can't look at their phones. I've also witnessed the manager screaming at the cashiers. The newest Korean grocery store that opened in Rockville and my goto place for grocery shopping. At least you can bring a stroller in this store unlike Korean Korner or Lotte Germantown! Seafood dept is great as they can clean and prepare your fish 4 different ways. Great prices too. Meat dept doesn't disappoint compare to its other locations (muddy branch and Germantown) with many sales on la galbi, short ribs. They also have marinated meats (albeit a bit more expensive). Their prepared foods is standard and decent. I wonder if they offer catering services like their Centreville location. Since it's a smaller location (replaced Safeway), they don't offer a food court or other stores inside (like Germantown and Centreville). Come Saturday during lunch and there are many free sample stands. You can get stuffed eating all of those samples! read more

It doesn't have a food court but I think this is the best and cleanest Lotte in MoCo. I usually get my beef at H-Mart, but I've been happy with the quality of their beef brisket and galbi (LA cut, and short rib). Lotte is the only Korean grocery store that sells my favorite frozen dumplings - Duru Duru. Now if they can only sell the best kimchi (IMO)- Chongga Cut Cabbage Kimchi - Mat Kimchi then I wouldn't have to drive to H-Mart. During the weekends, they have many tasting stations throughout the store. I have to deduct a star because of their cashiers. Sometimes the register doesn't ring up the sale prices of certain items and you have to battle with them to get the sale price. Sometimes they leave their register and take forever to verify the sale price. I wish they would fix this. I hate staring at the screen at check-out to make sure the price is correct. read more

I really want to like Lotte, but I cant. They have great deals and signs posted, but when you get to the register, the prices are not the sale prices. It's a hassle to send the clerk running to check prices. And watch the clerk touch the veggies while the scale reads the weight. All in all, a bad experience. I always come to this store at least 3 to 4 times a week to buy thing for my job or for me and friends. It's a very mega super market they have pretty much everything you need, They have a very produce section which has every type fruit and vegetables you can think of, seafood section is also big. Check out lines are always open and plenty of people ready to help only thing is customer service front desk is some what not very attentive specially when I place a big order just don't care what I need you always give me the wrong item and I end up wasting time waiting for them to correct it, nothing major. DISAPPOINTED customer Being a loyal customer for more than a decade, I would give a fair rating for fresh produce. However, i would not give a good review for the customer service. I want to tell you the story how the manager treated me when I asked a small favor and he firmly rejected. My purse was stolen in the store today when I was ready to check out. I was panic trying to deal with the aftermath disaster, ie calling to cancel a few credit cards. I already had the groceries but couldn't pay for that. I really need the grocery for this evening. so I asked the manager whether I could take one item broccoli $2.99, and promise to come back to pay for that. I got a firm "NO". I begged again for allowing me borrow one stalk of broccoli. The answer was "No, No, No". I didn't ask for a free item, and will pay back when I return to the store tomorrow. I understand the store has its rule, but for less than $3, could the manger just advance the amount and win the customer for a long time? read more

The worst supermarket I ever went to. It says they are open until 9p, I went there for specific reason to get shrimp with heads, as they only sold in Asian markets. Hit there at 8p. All shopping carts already locked up, so I had to wait another 10 min for shopping cart. Oh, wow...how did I not know that at 8p there is no sign of any seafood. Everything had been put away and covered. No, of course no one wanted to serve me any of the shrimp. Staff was extremely rude and one of the cashiers yelled at me to bring my groceries to register as they were getting ready yo close. It was 845p. This place is ridiculous. It's also very dirty and no one speaks English except for lady that yelled at me. Never again Yikes. Go to H mart for Asian food. The difference is huge and their prices are much lower. read more

My wife, who is Asian, and I started coming here as soon as they opened, I think about three years ago. At first we loved it, but then slowly we discovered how gross it is. What do I mean? I've seen them take dead fish floating in the tank and place it on the pile of fish on ice for sale. Once when I was using the restroom, a huge rat walked right in front of me. The restroom is super dirty too. Lately they have been selling raw chicken from China and they are real sneaky about it. Good selection of vegetables. Meats are subpar compared to Korean Korner (vegetables at Lotte are better). Bit disorganized inside store during pandemic (ex. narrow aisles are not designated one-way as they are at Safeway and other groceries). Disappointed to hear from Korean community that there were several reported cases of Covid-19 from one of the Lotte stores, but Lotte has not shared which store it was, confusing and frustrating customers like myself. I hope they release this information soon. Better to risk losing business in one store than risk losing business in multiple stores, not to mention the risk to public health and safety. In the meantime, will continue to shop here but more sporadically due to this news. read more

Terrible place! My parents gave the cashier $100 cash and she wasn't paying attention cuz she was chatting with others. After she gave us the change she claimed we didn't pay. They took the change back and their manager went to the cctv to check. They gave us the change back and refused to give us the receipt. No apologize, no respect. It's a clean store with a good selection, but I had a negative experience on my second visit. I walked a few feet away from my cart to look at the meat section, and a member of the staff started looking through the empty shopping bag I was carrying on my arm. I was pretty confused as she didn't speak English and mumbled something about 'no cart' and realized that she thought I was potentially shoplifting. I was too shocked to react and then she walked away without apologizing. That, on top of the wilted chinese broccoli I bought and the barely chewable beef shank, makes me want to stay away from this place. I hope never came back, 1. last week I purchase a product and when I get home it was expired 2 months ago. They return my money, but I have a feeling of the negativity way they respond. They made me feel it was my fault, they also spoke in her language. 2. These week I purchase my grocery and notice a couple offers and when I tried to pay it didn't appear jn the computer, I said to the lady these product is in sale and she said no. Well I went to the produce and took a picture and then they approve it. That minds they don't change the prices in the computer. It happens to me twice last month and these one. 3 Customer service, very very bad I think the manager is like that so the employee are like that too. Been here many times and I always forget to review this place. Anyway this place just recently opened few months ago and it's awesome! I lived close by and this become my main grocery store.
