Tried to go in at 7:50 not knowing they closed at 8 being from out of town. They yelled they were closed when I took a step in the door.

If you want to be left along while eating this place is it! Coming here, I saw the yelp reviews and kind of said why not because I wanted Asian fusion. When you walk in, the sign basically says to pick a spot and use your phone to choose a place. Sat in with no greeting whatsoever. Was not able to get someone to let me know what is popular so I had to pull the yelp app to figure out what to get. I ended up choosing the cheeseburger dumplings and the fried/crispy pork and cabbage dumpling. I also got a lychee, orange juice and vodka drink. Cheeseburger dumpling- This one is fried. I admit this one is very different from other places cause the dumplings they give you is in ball form and pretty small. I like how I was able to taste the cheeseburger. They also gave you a sauce with it however i used the spicy dragon sauce with it cause cheese and spicy is delicious. This is a dish for you if you like something VERY different. Fried/Crispy pork and cabbage dumpling- I admin the dumpling taste great. They all look the same. It came with the dragon sauce cause you are able to choose which one to get. The flavors were slightly there and it actually was not bad. I recommend this one! Drink- The alcohol drink I ordered had lychee, orange juice and vodka. This one was really good! I hate to be critical but this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I would rather eat at Panda Express and I'm Taiwanese so that's saying a lot. The cheeseburger dumplings were decent but the crispy dumplings in the combo were so overfried and the lo mein was just the plainest noodles tossed in sauce. So much has already been said about this new location... so many good things... they even had a yelp event here... so what can I say that hasn't been said? First... the pork belly buns have quite a bit of fat in them. The flavor is awesome, but couldn't they trim just a bit of the globs of fat off and give a bit more pork? Now don't get me wrong... I loved it! However a little less of the fat bombs and I would have given it the "ohhh my Goddie toooo Hottie" rating. The five spice wings are loaded with flavor... use the habanero sauce they give to put on them sparingly unless you like burning from the inside out! It is nuclear for sure... flaming hot and it doesn't go away. The pickled veggies they give with the wings are totally the bomb! So so soooo GOOD! Then the duck... this deserves two big Oh My Goddie TOOOOO HOTTIES! The crisp skin is heavenly while the duck itself is sooo tender and delectable! They pair this with cucumber, Asian Pear, a sauce, peppers and shallots. Load it all into the buns provided and taste what can only be described as masterful perfection! I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I normally see it empty and it wasn't different when I went to try, though to be honest my friend and I had a late lunch there around 2. The menu is essentially dumplings, either meat or veggie, fried or boiled, and a choice of noodles or fried rice. You can have either separately. You could also choose to have it in a broth which is more expensive. My friend and I both got the dumplings while she got fried rice and I got noodles. It tasted authentic in the sense that I could distinguish the oily flavor a lot of Chinese American dishes give off. I actually enjoyed the fried rice more, which simply had egg and green onion, while my friend liked the egg noodles more. I also had a matcha latte that was pretty decent as well. I'm not surpised by now that Asian restaurants charge for rice or extra rice. Certain chinese/vietnamese/thai dishes are meant to be eaten with rice because they are salty eaten alone. I did have to ask for rice to eat with my crispy fish, I couldn't eat it alone. Just my opinion that rice should not be "extra" for dishes that are too salty to eat alone. Now for the food, I wouldn't order the fish again just because perhaps I got a bad cut of fish that day, it tasted stale/old, not fresh. The beef and broccoli was decent, the beef had a coating of maybe cornstarch? My favorite was the side veggies (bok choy, mushrooms). Lightly seasoned and grilled I believe or sauteed, simple and easy to eat without rice. The cauliflower was alright too. We tried the soup dumpling rainbow variety order and they were ok- the dumping dough was squishy and sticky and the inside flavor was just ok. I ended up ordered pork with rice, not bad, the presentation of the dish came out actually very pretty so yes this is a take your phone out before you eat type of place. But of course it's not the looks that matter in the end! ha, the dish to my surprise actually was well marinated and the quality of meat tasted pretty good for a lunch menu. Though the price does reflect. I also sampled some of my coworkers fish and beef dishes. All very good, so you really can't go wrong with any of the bowls of your choice. Lotus Chinese frozen dumplings are truly some of the best dumplings I have ever had! The only better dumplings I have had the pleasure of eating are when they are made for me by the Lotus chefs...but only because I don't have to clean up the mess! They were so easy to make and cook in under 5 minutes. The Sweet Potato dumplings are a fantastic vegan option. You don't even miss the meat. You can tell how fresh the basil is in the Chicken and Basil dumplings. The flavor is herbaceous and fresh, and pairs perfectly with a silky cab. The absolutely best flavor, however, was the Pork and Cabbage. The whole family was fighting over the last one. Don't forget your chili oil! This is the third incarnation I've seen of this place, and it may be the best. Apparently General Tso packed his Cleaver & took the ducks home, but left us this interesting Lotus blossom. I'm big on spiritual rebirth. And what we have here now is the best & brightest of Chinese fare, in fast casual counter service: Fried or steamed gyoza, noodles, apps, a superb fried rice, and a sweet/sour sesame chicken dish. You can get real soup dumplings after 3pm and all day weekends. With the usual Rock Rose booze, beer, & Boba Boyz. The Friday & Saturday late night hours until 2am are a bonus. Personally, I've always been partial to their cold noodle dish, which has been around in some form or another since the beginning. The shrimp were very tasty and the breading especially after a squeeze of some lemon juice. To finish we ordered the dumpling combo with fried rice. I was really disappointed in the noodles because they came out like the lo mien at panda express. They were extremely oily and greasy and just mediocre in general. The restaurant itself is not very big. They have a pretty wide and customizable menu. Not sure if I just didn't order the right items on the menu or what but I was pretty disappointed after coming here. I deliberated whether I should give it 3 or 4 stars but decided on 3 given the price point and the expectation of the food given that it is in the domain.
