    California roll sushi, huge!

Absolutely the worst sushi we've ever had. HUGE pieces of predominantly soggy rice. If you can fit your fist in your mouth this place is for you. Ingredient flavor was just barely "ok". Should have known something was amiss when I lifted the way too heavy to-go bag. Threw most of it out as inedible. On a positive note, receptionist who took our order was pleasant, service was fast, and atmosphere while waiting was nice. Maybe their Chinese menu is good, but their sushi is a no-go. Will not return.

I was staying in Pinetop for a little less than a week for work. After looking at close by dinner options, I opted for Lotus Garden. I ordered the cashew chicken with rice and an order of dumplings. I'm not sure what kind of combo I accidentally ordered, but holy cow did I receive so much food! Thankfully my hotel had a fridge and microwave because this was multiple meals for me. The cashew chicken had a great flavor and was full of cashew nuts and tender chunks of chicken. The side of rice was standard, plain but fine once the chicken and sauce was mixed in. The dumplings were moist and flavorful with tender pork inside. The wrappers were a little thicker than I prefer but it was fine. I did also get soup (unexpectedly) but it was egg drop which I don't like so I didn't try it. The crunchy fried wonton strips were great though! There aren't a ton of options in Pinetop and this place does a big takeout business. My food took about 15 minutes but that shows me it was made fresh and was piping hot when I got it back to my room. I'll definitely stop back again when in the area.

Lunch buffet was a great deal! $8 for kids $15 for adults. Includes sushi (California rolls) and everything on the menu. My kids loved the Boba and fish tanks too!

Having checked out the other Chinese restaurants in town, I can confidently say that Lotus Garden is one of, if not the, most authentic Chinese restaurant in Show Low. However, it's too bad that you could easily miss this, as it advertises a very Americanized lunch buffet, and by the very fact that the buffet table is the first thing you smell and see when you walk in, you would assume that's the whole menu, the only thing they sell, but it's quite the contrary. When we first visited, we walked in, saw the buffet bar and decided to leave, but I also took a menu with me. We returned because I had noticed that the menu is huge, and includes lunch combos, separate from the buffet. Dishes such as lemon scallops, shrimp in lobster sauce, sauteed lobster, sizzling rice soup, etc.. these are not your typical Panda Express orange chicken or broccoli beef 2-item combo entrees, these are dishes you won't find in most Chinese restaurants because they are specialties that require culinary knowledge and skill with Chinese cuisine. We ordered the sweet & sour fish and the tofu in brown sauce and were pleasantly surprised. Not only are the portions big, but the taste was excellent, and the price was good. It's not only less expensive than some nearby Asian cuisine, it tastes far better. The lunch combos include soup, egg roll, won ton and you can get hot tea as well. The large fish tank was a nice touch, you can get seated right next to it for the full experience. There is also large group seating in another room, which could host a party or other event. Other seating around the restaurant is also good, but I would avoid getting too close to the buffet as you may not want the smell of it nearby. I assume several of the lower ratings for this place are either due to a specific incident that may have affected multiple patrons on one day, or are complaints about the buffet only, which I couldn't comment on. The only other thing I can mention is the good service from the servers. The waitress who serviced our table was fantastic, always helpful with suggestions and came by often to check on us. You also get a greater sense that this is a family-owned local restaurant (which we found out later is the case, the owner was in when we arrived and we got a chance to chat, which was very enjoyable) than a chain or corporate-owned place, which we felt at other restaurants in the area. I enjoyed our first visit so much, that I returned the very next day for lunch again.

The war wonton soup is very delicious. Flavorful and not over cooked. A go to favorite! Everything is exceptional. Not always the case up here on the Mountain. Nothing was over or under cooked. All perfect. If your lucky you can catch the Sake sale $3.75 for a large, $2.75 for small. I found the staff to be very friendly, present, and knowledgeable about their menu. Full service bar with a large TV. Casual dress. Service dog friendly!! ‍ Highly recommend and know we will be back!!

More variety and warmer food. The area in which to access the buffet was very limited.

I gave everything a one because the service was just so horrible. They actually made me nauseous…read moreand unable to enjoy my food. In addition, the pineapple chicken fried rice I got tasted and felt like the chicken wasn't fully cooked and it had a Spoiled smell to it. I only ate a couple of pieces of it and pushed the rest of the side. Maybe the aura in the room was making the food taste bad. the rice was OK I'd say two stars for the meal I've tasted much better. Where this company Shamefully failed was the service. When I came into the restaurant As the first person at 4 o'clock when they reopened a young Asian girl came to me and she was short spoken She was sneering at me if I asked questions. She turned her back to me when I was still talking she huffed and she puffed with anything And rolled her eye At anything, I asked her for example can I have a little Extra ginger and she retorted I'll give it to you when the food comes in a rude tone. when she went to the back I asked the older woman why is she so stressed out and she said we had a conversation. you could feel the tension in the air. They looked a little similar, so perhaps they're related mother and daughter and had an argument I don't know, but they were both acting as if they didn't want to be there didn't, wanna answer questions Didn't want to serve customers and hated anybody who talked to them. The younger girl disappeared into the back and never came out for the half hour I was there. The older woman wouldn't so much as look over to me or ask me if I needed anything at any point in time. I was hesitant to even ask for an extra napkin feeling like daggers would come my way if I asked for anything. when it was time to go I took my receipt to the register and I asked her if she does military discount she said yes and then she said I have to see an ID. I opened my wallet so she could see my military ID and my drivers license showed Veteran on it and she said she had to actually see it. I had to take it out which I've never had anybody ever do except for Medical appointments. She said that my military ID is expired which it was in 2025. I didn't even notice. I'm 100% disabled so she didn't wanna give me the 10% discount. She said that a relative of hers is military and that I could've had a dishonorable discharge. My ID doesn't say honorable or dishonorable anywhere on it.I really don't think that Military people get an ID if they were Dishonorably discharged. so I pulled out my drivers license that showed Veteran on it and She scrutinized it and said this one expires in 2028 I said exactly And then she hesitated. it looked like she was thinking of a way to rebuttal my drivers license which said Veteran on it. I didn't give A tip for the lousy service uncomfortable atmosphere And questionable chicken in my meal and told her I wouldn't be coming back after she also was very difficult about accepting that I am a veteran, Questionable chicken and horrible service. She blurted out loudly I don't care Loud enough to be heard in the small restaurant where there were now a half dozen couples.and then she walked away and I said I'll be happy to put this on social media and she yelled very loudly. I don't care again Well, she was walking to the back with her back to me. very unprofessional that they would Probably have had a disagreement andTake it out on the customers And continue their unprofessional rampage Causing my meal to be almost unconsumable. Unfortunately, they're the only Asian restaurant I could find in town, but I will definitely never go back there again. I'm going to find out if there's a owner to the restaurant and tell them about this.

I had previously looked up hotels and saw that Mandarin Beauty was recommended by someone. I love Asian food, so I decided to give it a try. Pulling up, I wasn't sure it was the right place. For some reason, the front reminded me of a Mexican place. Walking in, there was an adorable older woman seated at a table. I asked for a table for one and she just smiled. A pretty younger lady came out of the kitchen and indicated I could sit wherever. I was the only customer in the restaurant, late afternoon, on a Sunday. The menu was larger than I had anticipated. Many of the dishes were likely popular with American tastes. I didn't want anything too heavy, so I opted for a chicken rice noodle dish and some hot tea. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. The bathroom, like the rest of the restaurant, needs some help. It was clean, but a refresh would go far. Near the bathrooms and kitchen, there is a buffet station. It was larger than I expected. (Buffet is not available at dinner.) When I got back to my table, the tea and food were waiting for me. The portion size was bigger than I expected. The rice noodles were cooked just right, not overcooked. There were far more vegetables than I expected, which was a welcomed surprise. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and plentiful. I enjoyed every bite. I went to the pay and the total was a little less than $20. I only had two 20s, so I gave the pretty lady a $20 and asked for change, wanting to pay the bill with my other 20. She gave me the difference from the price of the bill and the 20. I giggled and gave her the other 20 and asked for change. Then, she realized what I was asking. Unfortunately, it seems that business had been slow, because I got a $5 and a bunch of dollar bills. I left the change from the bill and a nice tip. As I was leaving a truck pulled up. I hope they got some more customers that evening. I plan on returning on my next trip through!
