We were pleased with our iced latte and regular coffee and they had an extensive list of flavors that could be added. We also each ordered a sausage breakfast burrito. I wasn't overly impressed with it but my husband ate all of his and half of mine. Service was fine, not overly friendly but not rude. It was a nice place to sit outside on a balcony and relax before venturing to the next town. read more

We really wanted to try the Lotus Up Deli, however, after waiting in the drive-thru for 15 minutes (and still two cars ahead of us), we carefully backed out and left. I don't feel that it's fair to have to give it a star rating, so I'm doing a four, even though I have no idea what the food or ambiance is like. I only have service experience. read more

This is a cute little local spot, which I believe is female owned, if I heard her correctly. I inquired about vegan food options but they didn't really have anything. She was very nice though and seemed genuinely interested in offering something vegan suitable in the future. They ended up making a vegan mixed berry smoothie for me using almond milk. It was delicious! If I find myself back in SD, I'd stop by Lotus Up for another one of those refreshing smoothies. read more

This place was a wonderful stop in Lead. I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking to get a bite to eat while visiting. They have some great coffee and other drinks available as well. I had a half monte cristo panini and a cup of their beef barley soup. I must say, it was delicious! The inside of Lotus Up was impressive! They have a great upstairs area with a wonderful view of the mining area in Lead (pronounced as Leed, by the way). The first floor is great as well. All areas are clean and look wonderfully maintained. They have two parking spaces in the upper lot as well as a drive thru option while the lower lot is home to all of the main spots. Stop on here for a great coffee, sandwich, bagel, muffin, or even just to relax for a bit. They do have Wi-Fi available and the staff is very friendly! On a trip through the town of Lead we decided to make a stop for coffee. The service was great, staff was friendly, and the Coffee was great! Outside seating was available and overlooking the homestake mine and research center. Pretty cool look at Lead's rich history over a cup of Joe! read more

Loved this cute coffee shop just as much for the owner and staff as the coffee itself! We got basic coffee drinks, an Americano and a latte, and they were good. We also got the amigo bagel (which was flavored with jalapeño and Parmesan, I think) and spinach cream cheese -- a tasty combo! They have a huge variety of both bagels and cream cheeses. Prices are all reasonable. Equally wonderful was the owner. She was so friendly, and spends her off hours working with kids in the community. She and her husband built the building where Lotus Up is located, and had help from family and the community to make it the warm welcoming space that it is. She is also starting a nonprofit for kids to get engaged in the community and make it a better place. Why not support all this?!?! read more

Love this place! I'm just visiting town for a bit, but if I lived here I would easily become a regular. I didn't try the food, but the menu looked good. They have an ample drink selection at prices you expect from any coffee shop. The chai was good..sweet but not too spicy. My favorite thing about Lotus Up is the ambiance. It's got ample windows and great lighting. Tons of seating inside both downstairs and upstairs and a great view of "the pit" and playground across the street. There are comfy couches and easy chairs in addition to tables. Decor and mural are nicely done. There is also a drive through. The staff was super friendly. Coffee is good and strong. Their location has changed, just down on the main strip across from the Visitors Center. The building is nice, with a very cool patio that provides an excellent view of the open cut! I also had the apple cinnamon scone. Typically scones are room temp, but this was heated up. Either way it was delicious! Highly recommend when passing through Lead!! read more

These girls know their stuff! The caramel buns are nothing short of SPECTACULAR! And only $3.75 for a large sized (think 5-6 inches) bun! The best part about this place is that it is female owned and ran. Good coffee too! They also have a drive through portion! This charming cafe is staffed by the nicest, most helpful people. I have a gluten issue and they really worked hard to come up with a meal I could enjoy. The egg, bacon and cheese panini on gluten free bread was absolutely delicious. The cafe is sunny and bright with beautiful murals and views of the mountains. Food and atmosphere was great, a couple of vegetarian options, smoothies from premix. Things to work on: Waste reduction! Let's not Lotus this planet up with "convenience" trash. All for here drinks served in single use plastic cups ‍ When I asked to use my home mug for my smoothie the clerk kept reaching for a plastic cup, practically had to toss it to her lol. Had to really work for minimal packaging and a plastic free meal. read more

I'm a coffee-a-holic!! I've been to almost every little place and this one by far has the best! And quite a bit of sugar free options!! They have a good view of the mine hill. A park and the cozy little spot to read! The deli options look fantastic. The blended coffe is smooth! And the espresso is strong! Perfect little place. The lady pulling the shots really knew how to make a great shot of espresso. Drinks were on point. For lunch we had the spicy chicken wrap because we wanted something light. It was pretty tasty, even the pickle was good. Will definitely go back when we are in town. read more

This café has the greatest view from the patio overlooking entire mountain side in lead. It is the first café on the left between deadwood and lead across from the park and skate park right by the subway. The staff was very helpful in helping me get there. Menu has your usual latte mocha's white mocha's espresso Americano etc. I ordered two caramel rolls which were homemade by the way when I open the two go box the Conroe filled the entire box it must be like 6 inches wide the best biggest Cornelius Conroe I've ever seen. Needless to say my newlywed bride is going to be very pleased with what I bring home to the hotel. Don't settle for Starbucks in deadwood or any other café on deadwood Main Street just drive the extra six minutes to lead to get this great spot. read more

Super friendly staff, amazing coffee (the Batista and I shared the exact same drink so she made it just perfect) and the caramel roll with pecans was delicious. We stopped here to grab some coffee and breakfast and it was great! The owner and workers were really nice and super friendly. The food was really good and both the coffee and espresso were great! I can't wait to go back when I'm in the area again! Also they have big selection of sugar-free syrups which I really appreciated! I tried there regular coffee and it was great. My boyfriend tried the caramel latte and loved it. I don't eat sugar so I got an iced americano with a splash of heavy whipping cream and sugar free Caramel syrup and it was amazing. Established in 2010.

Jamie took over an existing coffee house in 2010, Renamed it Lotus Up Espresso. Growing to the point that relocation was a must. In 2015 she started construction on a new building. Lotus Up Moved into the new location June 26th of 2016

Don't worry, they still tried to upcharge me for the loaded part on my bill. -We had two others order the sirloin and one was literally half the size as the other and severely over cooked -I ordered a tap beer and it came to me 90% foam and I was told to just wait until it settled. -The waiter did nothing to help out with anyone's complaints, he literally ignored what people said to him and just kept doing whatever he was doing. -It was like the whole crew was the "B" crew for the night. I do not see why I would ever go there again or why you should waste your money for subpar service and food.

This is a sports bar, and they have the cool option to have a half portion of an appetizer instead of fries for a $3 upcharge. My husband was delighted to be able to have fried mushrooms as his side. The kids and husband had milkshakes, and they were made quickly, and everyone loved them. They have a bunch of local beers. I enjoyed my Rapid City made beer and enjoyed a sip of my husband's Spearfish beer. I had a burger, which was perfect. The fries were good. I also had some of my daughter's hot wings. They were meaty and spicy. I loved them, although I wish they had come with celery sticks. Not a big deal, though. The restaurant is decorated with old slot machines, which were fun for the kids to look at while we waited for our food.

The employee who took our order, a woman in a green shirt, listened while my sister and I ordered, then let out a loud, frustrated sigh and said, "Ugh... is that it then?" Her tone made it very clear that our order was an inconvenience. When I arrived to pick up and pay, I stood at the counter much longer than I should have, and it became obvious I was being ignored. The woman in the green shirt who had taken our order made eye contact with me multiple times but continued to act as if I wasn't standing there. There were three employees behind the counter, yet none of them acknowledged me. The only person who finally came over to help was a kind woman who had been sweeping on the other side of the restaurant. She stopped what she was doing because no one else would. I have 13 years of waitressing experience, so I completely understand how frustrating last-minute orders before closing can be. However, that's never an excuse to treat paying customers with disrespect. We called before closing, were polite throughout the interaction, and simply expected basic customer service. If taking an order 30 minutes before closing and acknowledging a customer at the counter is too much to ask, then maybe customer service isn't the right fit. Being busy is understandable. Being rude and pretending customers don't exist isn't. Needless to say, we won't be back.

The hotel is located just south of downtown on a beautiful creek. Our room overlooked this creek and the scenery was incredible. When we arrived the front desk staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. The manager came up to us right away to welcome us to their hotel and gave advice about what to check out in Deadwood. The casino is next to the main desk. We went up to the room and were surprised by a very warm and welcoming large room with a small kitchen, a fireplace and a deck overlooking the creek. As it happened there was a deer on the hillside right across from our room. Everything was as it should be for the room. We enjoyed the in room hot tub as well. Later we wanted to grab something to eat and enjoyed a great pizza at their newly opened restaurant. They have a great patio right behind the hotel where you can eat and enjoy the creek views. Parking was great as well. The shuttle picks you up right at the front door and it's a free ride to town and back. This place would be awesome for anyone visiting Deadwood... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

They have changed ownership recently and have removed almost every machine that the majority of the local players loved. They also wiped out everyone's earned comps with no warning, and refused to honor the free play normally given to their regular customers. We have been loyal customers and advocates through the years, and have told many friends and acquaintances to go there. In the words of the new owner, they are in business to make money! We understand this, as business owners ourselves. However, in reality, you should be in business where you provide a fun atmosphere and experience where you organically make money in the process. We refuse to give a cent to an establishment that is only interested in taking our money and not providing anything in return. Deadwood is a small tight knit community where everyone shares their experiences freely. Our player's cards went into the trash can today. Good luck surviving on winter sports customers.
