There is always long lines for these restaurants given their popularity and well known thing to do when visiting chicago. We put our name in and walked around for about 30-45mins before our table was ready. The staff here are really great and attentive despite having so many tables to attend to. Although I seriously questioned where our Uber was dropping us off, the restaurant ended up coming through. I must say I prefer Giordano's as an out of towner. Maybe I just don't have refined deep dish pizza taste yet. Regardless, it was good and while the waitress wasn't leaping to wait on us (we were literally the only people there and we think she was annoyed at our arrival...) she was nice enough. I think the hardest worker there was the delivery driver who went and came back several times just while we were there. He was all go the whole time. For at least 12 years this Lou Malnatti's has been delicious. I say that, because that's when I discovered this gem. I remember having corporate buddies in town and them wanting Chicago pizza. We enjoyed lunch at this location and our guests were bowled over! Years later my Mom and I want pizza and stop by at first open. My order was ready on-time, the host was kind and courteous. She even made sure to ask if I needed utensils, cheese and red pepper. Its so common for quality to be subpar, but there are one or two places who still care. This is one. I'm very disappointed in this experience at Lou Malnati's in Lawndale. We put in our order ahead of time, like usual, to mitigate the longer deep dish pizza wait time. However, the staff did not properly anticipate each order's wait time, so items that had a shorter wait time actually arrived at the table, 15-20 minutes prior to when the deep dish pizza would be complete. I feel like this is basic knowledge to time the meals out better. The fruit received was also poor. It was not properly diced, but came out as large chunks still on the rind. We know the staff did what they could, but we were only one of two groups that were even there for dinner at that time. They were not crowded nor understaffed. Now I've had Lou Malnoti's twice now. Just a few days ago at a less popular location and another time years back when my girlfriend (now my lovely wife) brought me back half a personal pizza through airport security, on the plane, and into my fridge--yeah I TIED THAT KNOT, SON. I could not believe how delicious that pizza was despite it not being fresh. The cheese, the sauce, oh man--THE CRUST. For those curious, I got to taste the "Lou" and "Meat" personal sized pizzas (tip: dont get tbe largest size; soggy crust is eww). I vowed to return to Chicago just for another bite of this pizza. Sadly, both Pequod's and Lou's let me down. Where did all the flavor go? Now I will be upfront and admit I've made some errors in trying to rediscover the pizza I once had. I am eating at a different Lou's and the size of the pizza we ordered was a 14" vs a personal 7" (4x bigger than a personal). The flavor was just non-existent; where was the robust, zesty tomato sauce I remembered? And the fear of all pizza lovers... wet center crust. And really, the blame cannot really be placed on anyone. Maybe cooking 14" pies is just a terrible idea in general. I waited quite a while for my rekindling with this pizza and I was severely let down. It's just embarrassing that you rave to your friends and temporary roommates that "this is it, boys. Get ready!" And everyone is in agreement that there is absolutely nothing noteworthy from destroying your caloric intake. Maybe it's because I'm not from here, but I found the service to be quite lacking. My friend ordered a Diet coke to go and the waitress literally brought out an empty paper cup and plastic lid for his half finished diet coke (which, yes, he was on his way of finishing). No visit to Chicago would be complete without trying deep dish pizza. We ordered the Chicago Classic and the Lou. The pizza takes around 30 minutes to prepare because of its thickness. I recommend calling ahead to put in your order before going to the restaurant. The Chicago Classic is made with sausages, cheese, and tomato sauce. Each bite was delicious and had a piece of sausage in it. The Lou had spinach, mushrooms, and sliced tomatoes all covered in cheese without any tomato sauce. I enjoyed the classic more because the the sauce tasted so good! Both pizzas also had a nice crispy crust. Our waitress was so welcoming! She heard it was our first time in Chicago and gave us a Chocolate Chip Pizza on the house. She said that it's a popular dessert and we couldn't leave without it. This was a chocolate chip cookie cooked in a deep dish pan topped with ice cream, whipped cream, and cherries. It was soft yet crunchy on the outside. The Malnati Classic with Buttercrust is worth AT LEAST trying, especially if you're on the fence (like most New Yorkers) about Deep Dish Pizza. The restaurant offers classic deep dish Chicago style pizza. The parking situation is a bit awkward but worth finding.a space. The ambiance is reminiscent of an old school pizzeria. When I entered the building there were two servers stand behind the desk and neither of the two greated me, eventually after an awkward stare down I shared that I was there to pick up. Eventually, I received my order and the server did ask genuinely if there was anything else they can help me with. With that.... the service is not outstanding, but it's not terrible either, which is why I gave it 4 stars. The price is a little high, but you get what you pay for . We got a Medium mushroom, pepperoni, and onion deep dish pizza is picture perfect and flavors matched the picture, it was amazing. We also got a thin crust cheese which did have a little bit of a card board crust, but that seems to be the Chicago theme for thin crust. Our family prefers NY style thin pizza. Our server was genuine and such a sweet heart. She kept letting us know our pizza's would be out in a bit. Food: PHENOMENAL! We just came off a 5 hour flight and the first thing we wanted was some damn pizza. Their's did not disappoint. We got the small which, according to their menu, serves two. You get 4 giant slices served straight from the dish. ALL PIZZA'S TAKE A MINIMUM OF 45 MINUTES! We waited patiently and, oh man, was it worth it. The sauce with the cheese and the DELICIOUS buttery crust was just an orgie in my mouth. The four slices were a perfect portion and we were full and VERY satisfied. If you couldn't tell already, I loved Lou Malnati's! The other locations looked a bit more popping than this one, but I can't imagine the quality of the pizza being any different at all. Okay, I admit it. There's no impartiality when it comes to me and Lou Malnati's pizza. This particular location was new to me, and I wasn't sure how it would "pan" out for that reason, but I had faith in my favorite pizza provider. The place has a great Chicago spirit to it with it's sports theme honoring our city's greatest athletes such as Mike Singletary and Michael Jordan. There are posters and memorablia displayed on the wall of other greats as well, and this lent a warm, mom & pop feel to the restaurant. Our server was Keisha (sp), a delighfully calm woman that we knew we could trust for good service in the way she confidentially strolled over to our table and greeted us. My buddy and I chose the signature deep dish with sausage, with soft drinks and breaded mushrooms as starters. The mushrooms came out piping hot and we had to let them sit for a bit before we dug in. But, when we did they didn't last very long. Despite being deep-fried they were non-greasy, light and tasty; a great way to open for the main event! Once our pie arrived we were ready to do damage. Because we ordered the largest size we each had two pieces, leaving about six to take home. I think our eyes were bigger than our appetites! But there as no disappointment here. The signature buttery crust took me where I wanted to go, into the great pizza escape that few others could take me. I work in a hospital and I NEVER had a problem having my pizza be delivered to the front desk and it was somehow a problem yesterday. NEVER received a call from whoever the delivery person was btw. This place does not sell real Chicago style pizza. Here is another franchise (Portillo's is another) that took one of Chicago's favs and made it commercial, like deep dish pizza, which is not a Chicago style pizza either. The crust and the sausage in real Chicago pizzas can only be found in the mom and pop pizzerias. They make sure the sausage is fresh and the crust nice and crispy. We like fennel seed in our sausage and the right balance of spices. Treat yourself to a true pub style cut pizza and enjoy the goodness of a real Chicago pizza. You will thank me. read more

I give them 5 stars because: - It is the best deep dish Chicago pizza in my opinion - The staff was very upbeat and friendly - I like the Chicago decor inside and it's in an old brick building, which I love Yes, the neighborhood isn't much to look at, but the bonus was street parking was not metered in this area. Normally we wouldn't be dining at this location but we were meeting friends from Vegas who were flying out of Midway later that day. I scoured Yelp to find the perfect place somewhat near the airport and which had some Chicago flair for my friends. So they got to roll through Cicero & have some awesome Chicago pizza before their trip back home. I'm surprised they don't open until 12:30 on Sundays (and close at 4pm) but luckily that was the designated time we were meeting my friends there. As we sat & waited for them our server, Crystal, was very nice & got us our beverages. Our friends were running late & she checked in on us to see if we wanted to order an appetizer or salads. We had the deep dish, of course, with sausage, green peppers & mushrooms. It was ooey gooey cheesy perfection. Our Vegas friends were impressed. Since we were the first customers in for the day I think we spoke to just about everyone who was working at the time as they moved out & about the restaurant.
