First time here at this location to sit in and have lunch, since I work near by. We have ordered delivery before as well. Service was friendly and helpful. I went in, not to busy, but they didn't have any Pepperoni slices ready, and I couldn't wait 15 extra minutes on my lunch break, so I tried the Italian beef slice and it was good and I ordered a extra cup of peppers on the side. Beggars Pizza is a short walk from Union Station so we stopped in after getting off a train. The guy behind the counter was super friendly! We were able to get pizza by the slice and a salad. The pizza special was a large slice of sausage and vegetable pizza. My husband ordered a slice of sausage deep dish. We split a Caesar salad and got two sodas although it looks like beer is available. The restaurant is a little run down and based on the traffic when we were there my guess is the majority of their business is from weekday lunchtime. Slices are already to go. This place comes in handy during lunch time if you forget to pack a lunch. Location is prime with plenty of seating. I appreciate the service at this particular location. The person working the front always asks me if I want extra plates and condiments and I keep going back for this reason. They are always kind and the pizza is consistently good. They do a good job of ensuring that most of the time, the crust is thin and crispy with a good amount of toppings added. Beggars has a pizza sauce that is not too sweet and they are not super heavy with it so I find that this combination really works well with this particular style of pizza. Don't expect a cracker like crust thought, it is thin but it is not Middlebrow thin. It works well in a pinch and satisfies my pizza cravings near the West Loop. read more

Phenomenal food and amazing service! I went here twice during my 4 day visit to Chicago it was so good. We had meat trio deep dish and cheese deep dish pizzas with cornbread crust. Decided to check out Beggars since I was in the mood for some pizza and this location is right next to Union Station and my office. I knew nothing about it before going in. I was very pleasantly surprised. It is a very large restaurant with plenty of seating and they have pre-made slices to save you a lot of time. I went with a couple of pre-made slices, one deep dish and one regular so I could try both and I thought they were pretty good. Perhaps not as good as some of my favorite places but a darn fine meal. Each slice was around $4 or $5 each so I think my total lunch was around $10 which is pretty good for an ample amount of food downtown. read more

I would really rather give it a 3.5 but oh well! Anyways, it's really convenient location because it's right next to Union Station and is a nice quick bite to eat. The pizza is probably better when fresh, but unfortunately I got it cold by the slice. While I didn't think the "thin crust" (it's not really thin crust) pizza wasn't great, I thoroughly enjoyed their deep dish pizza. Service was quick but I did have to ask to get a code for the bathroom. There is a medium sized seating area inside too with some flatscreens for watching games. Overall, I'd go back for that deep dish especially if I was taking a train out of union station. And yes, they do "lay it on think" like their slogan says lol. read more

I got a slice of the meat lovers pizza, which is thicker than New York crust, but definitely thinner than Chicago. I'm not sure if it qualifies as deep dish. So this was our last stop in Chicago on our trip and we chose it because of its proximity to Union Station. What a great sendoff! The food and staff were great and it was MUCH more comfortable than sitting in Union Station. A friend of mine recently moved to Alabama and wished they had a Beggars Pizza there. After hearing how she missed Chicago pizza, I decided to try Beggars for the first time by takeout delivery and placed my order through Yelp! I ordered appetizers and a small pizza. Initially, I liked the appetizers more than the pizza. The appetizers were so good I never sat down to eat. Instead I stood standing while eating directly from the delivery box. The warm deep fried spicy curly fries, deep fried raviolis with marinara dipping sauce, and the hot deep fried potato cheddar pops were oh so good, the exact combo of deep fried foods you miss when you are on a diet. All of the pieces were so satisfying and they weren't over or undercooked. For the pizza, I had ordered a small thin crust but it was served more like an original crust and the crust was firm and not pliable. For the most part it was pretty standard in flavor and taste. I put the leftover slices in the freezer because eating this pizza for breakfast the next day just wasn't appealing. A few days later I reheated a slice and somehow, some way, that pizza came to life. I could taste all the flavors and began to appreciate the "thin crust." It was truly delicious. read more

My family and I had dinner at Beggars Pizza in Orland Park last night. It's a great restaurant for families with young children. Our waitress was outstanding and certainly did the best that she could. She was the only waitress in the restaurant. There was no manager, no busboy! Not only was she seating people clearing tables, handling the bar, taking orders, and bringing the food she was also running the takeout window. Where was the manager? How can you have a restaurant on a Saturday night with one waitress doing all? I would give the management of Beggars Pizza zero stars and Kaylee our wonderful waitress who was pleasant with a smile on her face five stars. I wanted to post this review but not sure such a great place needs another review. They are consistent in all of there efforts. The pizza is outstanding. Both the thin crust and deep dish always make chicago proud. This location in near union station and there are a lot of travelers that stop here so I am glad they can get a real taste of Chicago pizza. This location also has an outstanding management team that translates to an amazing staff. I especially want to call out Dawn who takes the phone orders. OMG! I went here with my husband to give it a try. We had a piece of pizza which tasted like cardboard and grease! Total garbage! One of the all time worst pizzas ever! If you enjoy eating tasteless greasy salty cardboard pizza then this is the perfect place for you! Unfortunately I cannot recommend this establishment and left feeling short changed. The restaurant itself is in unclean depressing and dark. Utensils are filthy! Unfortunately I cannot know good conscience recommend this restaurant and I warn you not to dine here as there are many great places in Chicago that serve awesome pizza without an attitude! The pizza slices resemble that of a mess and globs of thick fake cheese on top! Just horrid tasting pizza! Employees are rude and clueless on how to answer the phone and deal with the customers and require much training. The pizza was so disappointing and disgusting! It made us want to vomit.
