The boss and bellissima that made it all happen.

Outstanding pizza in the East Valley! I don't know how we overlooked this treasured wood-fired pizza eatery extraordinaire, but we will definitely be back! Fresh ingredients, superlative Caesar salad, and artisan pizza at its absolute finest. Sam, our beloved hostess, server, and manager, totally made this meal for us. Sam was attentive, extremely patient, as personable as you could ever want--the consummate professional! Il Bosco had the perfect vibe, a flair for the uniquely local, laid-back vibe. Bravo!!!

Il Bosco Arrived around 6:45 pm on a Saturday, all tables inside were taken, plenty of seating outside, we got the last 2 seats at the bar right in front of the oven. Meatballs- Al forno, served w/ parmesan and crostini bread were good, we wanted to try some of their specialty items. Joanna - red sauce, spicy sausage, I substituted for mild sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella was good, cooked well with a little char. Ingredients were good quality and it was nice to see the assembly from tossing dough to sauce to cheese to toppings and then in the wood fire oven. Carmela - red sauce, sausage, spinach, caramelized onions and fresh mozz which was a good mix of different ingredients. Pizzas were prepared and cooked well by a young man who was whipping out pizzas one after another for dine in customers as well as take out orders, he took care of the rush with no problem. Props to him, very impressive. Had a diet cola soda, it was not very good and I am being nice talking about this, please replace that soda. Chocolate Chip ala mode was pretty good, ice cream + chocolate chip cookie = very good, but how could you mess that up. With us sitting in front of the oven, we had front and center seats of everything that went in and out of the oven, then after the crush of orders, a young lady took over the cooking of the Pizzas and to me and my wife sitting next to me, the new cook pulls out a pizza and it is severely charred as in burnt, she slides it in the take out box, it is sliced and box is closed. I am thinking whoa! I wouldn't want that pizza, then another pizza comes out charred, same thing, placed in box, sliced and box closed, I then look at my wife and she looks at me like that stinks for the person who receives those pizzas. This continued for at least 7 - 10 more charred Pizzas, we just thought OMG, glad she didn't cook our pizza. Restaurant is small and quaint inside with a larger area of tables outside. Have been wanting to try out IL Bosco for a long time, was good, but did not give me that wow feeling and the lady cook just took me back a bit. Tip, if take out, open your pizza box, check your pie before you leave to make sure it is to your satisfaction.

Pepperoni with Burrata for the win!

Il Bosco has arguably the best pizza in AZ! I normally go with the ZA, but my daughter and I were sharing tonight so we opted for Pepperoni with Burrata which was amazing! The staff is always extremely friendly and we were lucky enough to have perfect patio weather tonight for dinner. Sadly, we no longer live in AZ, but love stopping in whenever we visit and this was the first stop of our trip this time out! Already looking forward to coming back for more!

Solid 4.25/5 Came in for dinner finally after hearing about this place for ages. Started with the stuffed peppers. They were great. A hint of spice and tons of flavor stuffed with the sausage. Then we shared the Valentina pizza. It was delicious. The hot honey really made it. Loved the cupped pepperonis as well. Lastly we did the Neapolitan ice cream for dessert. It was the perfect end to an amazing meal. Service was terrific. Everything came out very fast. We sat on the patio which had tons of room and heaters for those who need them. Totally will be back. We really enjoyed.

We had Il Bosco last night for the first time after ogling their menu for about a month. I read all the reviews and while it seems like the Valentina is a highly rated option, we could not pass up the ZA. So glad we didn't! It was SO good, I love the textures, flavors, the crust was perfect. Absolutely loved. Also had the veggies w burrata and mozzarella - loved the lemon flavor in this. BUT!! The standout option for me was the stuffed peppadew peppers - holy smokes! I will think about those little guys for a long time to come!! If you're looking for great wood fired pizza, add this to your list!

    Outside patio

Il Bosco is located In the heart of downtown Phoenix. The outside patio is big with plenty of seating. It's a great place for a pizza and a beer and to hangout with friends. The pizzas are the BEST pizzas in the greater Phoenix area. It's so good I actually get cravings for it. We had the Valentina, the Katarina, and the Morena pizzas. All three were spectacular. The crust was perfectly done, crispy on the outside fluffy on the inside. The staff are nice, attentive and always there when you need them.

    Cheese with Pepperoni on half

I had high hopes for IL Bosco based on the reviews, but the biggest letdown was that both pizzas were cold when I picked them up. I placed my order online at 5:30 PM for a 7 PM pickup -- plenty of time for the kitchen to prepare them fresh. But when I arrived, both pizzas were cold, as if they'd been made early and left sitting out. For 12-inch pizzas priced at $17-$18 each, that was frustrating and really took away from the experience. The Biaggia had good flavor, and I could tell it would've been much better if it had been hot. Cold pizza right out of the box just doesn't do a quality recipe justice. The place looked like a great hangout spot. The staff was friendly and pickup was smooth, but at this price point, fresh and hot should be a given. I was left disappointed, wondering how different it might have been if the temperature had matched the taste.

    Carmela pizza with mushrooms added.

Today, I called to confirm we were signed up for the Father's Day "Special" which was offered with pizza, and if we could order a 2nd bottle of this "special" wine, in advance. I was very rudely told by the manager, their online reservations were turned off, and there was no reservation for us. He then said, I should have known that they weren't accepting reservations, especially if I didn't receive a confirmation! It was offensive as I make a number of online & phone reservations, without getting a confirmation, and have never had a problem. Why should the customer assume that your reservations are turned off? There are a number of ways this manager could have resolved the situation, but he chose to blame the customer, which especially under these circumstances, (& in the restaurant business) is never okay. Never-the-less, there are so many pizza/Italian restaurants to pick from, we will be patronizing them from now on.

I think I've said that in another review... but for reals this time! The pizza was perfectly crispy on the bottom with just the right amount of basil to top off each bite. For dinner on our third visit, we ordered the clam linguine and an Italian beef sandwich. My husband says this clam linguine was better than the other versions he's eaten at Little Italy.
