This place has some of the best food I ever had! We tried the Haddock Bites with the house made tater sauce for an appetizer and they were amazing. For dinner I had the maple glazed turkey ribs with Brussel Sprouts and Mac and cheese, first time trying turkey ribs but I loved them and can't wait to go back for more. Both sides were delicious and very well portioned.. all of our guest we very pleased and can't wait to return. Keep up the good work and hope to see this place become a staple in the food industry. Best grits I've had in Buffalo. Hands down. Now I make great grits, so Im a hard critic. Especially when I've experienced the best or the best in the southern states .Our server was actually the owner and we sat in the upstairs lobby. We were the only one there at the time (making it feel like 5 start treatment). Live music down stairs, which connected to the speaker upstairs. It was definitely a positive and welcoming environment. She told us an interesting story and how The Loud House was born. She was born in Buffalo but spent many years in the southern states. She was told there were very few places in Buffalo that sold Gits, so she took that opportunity to make sure we had some delicious options. The food was 10 out of 10. Our table also ordered the French toast , and original breakfast. We tried the Mimosa flights. (Passion Fruit, watermelon, mango , and original). My personal favorite was the Passion Fruit. The Food quality is amazing, the Mac and cheese was delectable honestly one of my favorite dishes of the night. The waitress we had was friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. One downside to this restaurant I would say is the wait, we were at the table for 20 to26 minutes before our starters arrived. A word of note there is an 20% gratuity regardless of the party size. Service: We ordered 2 coffees and 1 tea. The server brings out the smallest cups of coffee I've ever seen--lol--and places them on the table with sugar and Splenda. We wait for the cream or milk... and wait... and wait. Finally she lets us know they don't have cream but she'll look for some milk. Turns out the only thing they have is heavy whipping cream. Then she leaves the coffee with us... so of course by the time we figure it out the coffee is cold. Cold coffee anyone? If you're open for brunch, how are you not prepared to serve coffee properly??? Especially with a supermarket across the street! SMH. The server (who was dealt a tough hand) offers to reheat the coffee. I accept. She brings it back and now the cup is so hot you can't even put your lips on it--clearly microwaved. You really can't make this stuff up! Cons: * Looks like they stopped seating downstairs (where the live music was playing) after 7pm. We could hear the music upstairs but it wasn't the sameee. the lighting upstairs also is very traditional, homey feeling. It was fine, but the ambiance downstairs under the glass area is beautiful so I wish they reserved that for customers instead of the band that's playing that night. It'd be such a nice experience. * Our server mentioned she doesn't get to keep the service fee (which is automatically added to every bill, even for 2 people), so we had to tip on top of the included service fee... and when we asked if she'd receive that... she shrugged... felt a little sketch. But she got it done! We had mimosas which were fine. It's a mimosa. Breakfast bowl is grits, eggs, shrimp, salmon and heavy. Don't plan on working afterwards. The shrimp in it was flavorless and only so so. And hella expensive. I wouldn't order it again. Pancakes were legit. Like crispy edges and everything. I dream of eating them again. But I probably won't because: The 20% service charge they add on the bill. I tip very well for good service. When the bill came I asked why the tip percentages were so low; then saw the added charge in case I wanted to add. I did because my percentages are higher. I don't need a business to decide for me. I ordered the chicken and waffles, which was topped with fresh fruit. The waffle was light, fluffy and full of flavor. The chicken was perfectly fried, but a bit bland. Our first time going here together all our meals were delicious and the portion sizes were great! I loved the experience and our service and server/hostess/bartender was amazing. I forgot her name but she is Hispanic with bright red hair. At my next dine in experience I will as told she quit. As she should. There's no reason she should be doing all three jobs at once. At this same visit the food was not good. The portion sizes were smaller and whoever made the steak is not at all skilled in the art of preparing and cooking steak. It was burnt on the outside. Black like charcoal and inside was very much rare, much of the sliced steak portions on my plate and my dates plate were identical and the tasted of charge from the grill but as if it needed cleaning. That taste was not appreciated. Have you ever tried chewing leather? Well that's what it was like for us. Unsuccessful chews. The Rasta pasta was not what my date expected, nor I. Although the other parties I came with before didn't mind the type of pasta in the Rasta pasta, my date on this day absolutely did and so did I. The type of pasta used makes a dish taste differently. He added shrimp, steak and chicken. Had it been penne pasta or the like, it would have tasted better to us. Also onions and multi colored peppers would help the dish along as well. The first visit they had red onion and yellow pepper. We expected those items to be in there and they weren't. I sent my food back to get another dish because aside from the steak not being good or edible the sauce for the fasts was not good either. I forgot the name of the dish, but it blue cheese. My drink wasn't made the same either. It didn't even look like the same drink. I had a French 75 both dates. It was so pretty I took a video the first time. I was disappointed in the food not the service. My server was great I tipped her again after my date tipped her. I apologize I forgot her name. I'm not great with names. I ended taking home the salmon dish that I order my first time here. It was made by a different person and it was obvious. It was decent I had no complaints. When you enter you'll see a sign that says please wait to be seated. Walk past the sign and to the right for the actual host stand. That part was a little weird. The staff here is friendly. I believe it was the owner that walked around and ensured everything was okay which is always a nice touch. I've been twice now and both meals were good. I've had the rasta pasta and the snapper on a Wednesday for carribean night. Both meals were prepared excellent and were very delicious. Drinks are great as well. Heads up, prices are a bit steep. Came here with my family for brunch, we were eager to check it out. Please be mindful that they do not have parking and it is illegal to park in the lot across the street at the grocery store. I was initially put off by needing to scan a QR code for the menu. I thought we needed to also submit our order online but a server did come over to take or order. Our server was wonderful and very sweet. The food was very expensive, especially for brunch but everything tasted wonderful and everyone was happy with what they had gotten. Grits can be hit or miss but the consistency was perfect My biggest grip is the automatic 20% gratuity that was added to the bill. The server then proceeded to tell me that she only gets about 7% of that so if we wanted to leave more she would appreciate it. I then felt compelled to do so but if this is the case...where is the other 13% going? The food is already overpriced so I sure hope they aren't taking server gratuity to tip out kitchen staff. While were eating there was a gentleman that started cleaning and sweeping the floor which I felt like that should've waited. The chicken and waffles was just ok. My mom enjoyed her fish and grits and my sister enjoyed her haddock sandwich. We had to ask for plates and silverware when our haddock bites arrived. The owner did come to our table to greet us which was nice. I would say the overall experience wasn't the best the service quality is horrible. Part of our party didn't even receive silverware for the first hour of waiting. We didnt get our food until 8pm. The waiter was inattentive and seemed annoyed that we were there. On top of everything we were charged twice for gratuity (one automatic 12% service fee and one 18% large party gratuity fee) and then was asked for another tip when we were cashing out. It's Saturday!!! And it's brunch time !! In the city of Buffalo, there are so many places to choose from. We were thrilled with the opportunity to try one of Buffalo's newest spots during their soft opening month. Loud House Buffalo!! Located at 1735 Hertel, previously occupied by Boss Steak and Seafood restaurant. It's was nice nice to see a new restaurant take over this stop!! Soooo as I stated, Loud House Buffalo is currently in their soft opening month with plans to officially open in September. However, they are still serving up a very selection of food. First things first......drinks !! They had a nice selection of brunch cocktails and beverages. I happy to see they offered a pain killer, which i had to get, and my friend ordered a Strawberry Lemon Drop Martini!! Both were tasty, sizeable drinks that we were definitely pleased with!! Next, the food!! My friend's daughter chose the chicken and waffles without hesitation. My friend and I took a tab bit longer because we were so excited about all the choices. I decided on the breakfast sandwich, home fries, and SWEET POTATO GRITS!!!! Yes, you read there, right !! SWEET POTATO GRITS !! My friend chose salmon croquettes with pancakes and sweet potato grits as well. Our food took a little time to come out, but as I said, this is SOFT opening, so they are working out the kinks during this month. The chicken and waffles plating was beautiful paired with strawberries and blueberries, lightly sprinkled with powdered sugared !! I didn't try it, but the dish was teenager, and mom approved,lol. My friend mentioned the waffles had a light hint of vanilla, and her daughter stated the chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection!! It was like a slight sweetness. I can pinpoint what it was but I really enjoyed!! The home fries seasoned very well,a crunch on the outside, soft in the middle!! And these sweet potato grits !! A very nice texture, nice and smooth, not gritty at all !! Topped with imagine is cinnamon and brown sugar. So good !! Honestly, I feel like this should be made into its own meal and paired with a short Rib or pot roast so you can get the salty and sweet vibe. Overall, I enjoyed my experience!! The food and drinks were good, the staff was nice, and the atmosphere was definitely a vibe. BUT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: This is a soft opening. Therefore, there are a few things they need to work out, so if you go, please be patient and give feedback!! The owners are very visible and actually were asking for it. I went yesterday afternoon for the first time. The food presentation was good and the food was good. The service was ok with the exception of the waitress forgetting the orange juice and ear hustling with seemingly bionic ears and interjecting. That was weird. The ISSUE: The illegal 20% gratuity they automatically add under the guise of a "service fee." They have this in small print knowing folks aren't going to notice. I was very much put off by this. (1) this is giving an automatic tip without considering the fact that the service may be poor or the food bad. For example, had our waitress asked if everything was ok she would have known she'd forgotten an item before a lengthy passage of time. (2) when the bill game the prompt was on another 20% tip. I read the bill and asked my friend who I was treating if we ate that much. This is when the waitress with the bionic ears interjected saying there is an automatic "service fee" which is split between her and others. I said but then they're adding another 20% for "gratuity." In essence that is a 40% tip the patron who is not paying attention will pay. There something egregious and nefarious about this that totally turned me off. I don't like to be forced to pay something that may not be deserved. I read a review where the waiter stated he or she got none of the automatic service fee and shrugged as if he wouldn't get any of the 20% "gratuity." Yes, it not only sounds sketch but it is in fact sketch. It lacks integrity. Tell the patrons up front and go beyond in providing exemplary service and at the end of the day you just may be tipped in excess of 40% you're trying to get from an unassuming patron. The interest of complete transparency - I did not tip in addition to the automatic 20% that was added to my bill. And more importantly I will not return. My friend stated that this business was black owned which I would have wanted to support. Being black owned - I have a better understanding of why the owner did it. But my position is my position. I don't want to be forced to pay something that isn't deserving. MOREOVER it is against the law to force someone to pay a gratuity. So to disguise it as something else (a loophole) insults my intelligence and doesn't put the proprietor in a good light. It's sneaky and underhanded. I won't be back. read more
