We were informed they would contact us within a few days to schedule the replacement. More than a month later, after numerous unanswered calls and messages, I finally reached someone who scheduled the replacement for the end of that week. However, we were then told the labor cost would be $1,500. The installers themselves were great, but unfortunately the experience with the company left a very bad impression. The installation took a little over an hour, and when I called to ask about the labor charge, I was told it was simply a flat installation fee. It felt like the warranty ultimately provided little value because the labor cost essentially offset any benefit. I reached out to discuss paying what seemed like a fair labor amount and to see if there was any flexibility, but true to the overall experience, my call was never returned. There are too many companies that value customer service and long-term relationships to continue supporting one that doesn't respond or work toward a reasonable solution. Losing a long-time customer may not matter to them, but it matters to me. I would recommend looking elsewhere, as my experience was that the warranty meant very little, communication was poor, and management never made an effort to resolve the situation. He actually had to leave and call someone to ask what to do. He came back and told me he didn't know but it was bad and I was going to need a FULL REMODEL! He warned me "it's going to be expensive!" Then he commented my outlets were weird and charged me the service fee. Fast forward to today. I had a handyman out to assess the cost to remodel the shower based off Cardinal's assessment. He looked at me and said "you got ripped off, they didn't even open up the wall". 30 minutes later he diagnosed a MINOR water leak right at the shower connector. $80 spent for Cardinal to give me a bogus answer. Very disappointed!!! Consumer beware!

I called a smaller local outfit for a 2nd opinion and glad I did. Nothing wrong with upstairs furnace, just needed to adjust the gas flow. Lower furnace just needed the burners cleaned with a wire brush. Everything working fine for a $100 service call. Cardinal is predatory and set on selling. Always get a 2nd opinion!

First the GFI was not working property, I couldn't push the button and reset it after several tries. Bob, the Senior technician according to the email this company sent me, was able to push the button and made it work. So he told me that my home warranty won't pay for the replacement if it works. OK, fine! The next problem is the ventilation fan above the stove that was in the ceiling that won't turn on and there is a switch that we suspect was the control. He took off the plate of the switch, and told me that the switch had no electricity in it. And I asked him if he could figure out if it was a bad switch, a bad breaker, a bad or the wiring or the fan that is not working. He replied: "I don't know what that is, and I have never seen it in my life!" "I won't touch that greasy thing!" I told him it has been cleaned by professional cleaners twice and acknowledged that it was still greasy, but asked him if he could wear a gloves to at least to look at the fan. Nope! Bob just walked off the site and told me that he would refer me to another company. What a diva! Even though I am not an electrician, I have seen several fans like this in old houses. For an electrician who is not hired to strut the runway but solving my problems, this diva is not up to the job! They took more than a week to send someone but that person is not here for work. What a waste of time! The following day, a handyman came and figured out that the wiring in the switch was reversed and he corrected it, took the cover of the fan off, cleaned it up and made it work.

As a homeowner, I don't know whether the issue is the recalled electrode, the humidifier itself, the wiring, or the HVAC controls. That's exactly why I hired an HVAC company--to diagnose the problem. Instead, technician Silvio Guerrero immediately stated there would be two separate charges before inspecting a single component. I even suggested we set the recall aside and simply use the visit to diagnose why my humidifier wasn't working. Rather than inspecting anything or explaining what the charges covered, he repeatedly said, "It's two charges," stated he was very busy with other service calls and didn't have time to deal with this, told me to call the office, suggested I hire another company, and left. My HVAC system itself is brand new and working perfectly. My humidifier, however, is wired into the HVAC control board. I was not asking for an HVAC repair--I was asking for my humidifier to be diagnosed. If checking the HVAC control board as part of diagnosing the humidifier required an additional charge, that should have been explained after inspecting the system. Instead, the moment the discussion involved the HVAC control board, it seemed to automatically become a separate charge without anyone even looking at the equipment. What made the experience even worse was management's response. Instead of listening to my concerns, I was told I was "argumentative" and accused of "double dipping." That accusation was both unfair and insulting. I never asked for free work or refused to pay for legitimate diagnostics. I simply expected the technician to inspect the problem, explain what he found, identify what was covered by the recall, explain any additional charges, and then let me decide how to proceed. This entire experience reflected poor communication, impatience, and a lack of professionalism from both the technician and management. Customers deserve a proper diagnosis and a clear explanation before being asked to authorize additional charges--not assumptions, accusations, and a technician who walks away without inspecting the problem. I have completely lost confidence in Mannix Heating & Cooling and will never use this company again.

He suggested a method that would save me cost and aggravation in the installation process (viz., the closet housing one of the units had a narrow opening and some other estimators wanted to rip out the door frame, which Mr. Kapur determined was unnecessary.) The pricing of replacement HVACs was competitive and the installation crew was respectful, hard-working and very competent, finishing all of the project in under one day. I am very satisfied with everything Mannix did on my property.

I should have cut him off at 2 hours but I let him "work," which included playing his radio loud the whole time. He seemed like a nice guy and his rates were good but when the hours start ticking off it adds up. The problem was never fixed and I had to hire another company to fix it (which two people did in two hours). The problem with my deck lights were that half of them were dim and half were bright. He couldn't seem to figure out what was causing the problem but the company I hired after him knew right away. He also left bits of wire, wire casing, and electrical tape all over the deck and some fell below the deck which I had to clean up. Wish it would have been a different experience.

Chris from Bane Electric came highly recommended by our realtor. At first we were worried that he wouldn't travel from Ashburn to Arlington but he traveled during off peak times to us without charging extra. We had extensive electrical work done in our house (and not the fun kind either). He was sensitive about the price points and recommended what we could easily do ourselves. We had a list of items that needed to be fixed as noted by the home inspection report, and he did a superb job. Immediately he put us to ease and we felt comfortable leaving him in our home alone on the first day. His work was competitively priced. We were so happy that first day, that we immediately hired him again to put up recessed lights in our living room and a ceiling fan in our bedroom for the following week. We are absolutely stunned by the recessed lighting! By all means, get the upgraded recessed lighting! It is incredible and made our modest living room look like a show-home living room. Pros: -He offered us bundle pricing which meant we didn't have to pay by the hour -He works all over the DC metro area -He was reliable (always prompt when returning calls, showing up, or sending quotes) -Very professional and trustworthy -We felt good about supporting a small business owner -He does drywall patching for a nominal fee (I was informed by another contractor that most electricians don't do this!) Cons: -(only minor) but he is cash/check only -After seeing what he could do, we now want more work than we can afford
