Beach and ocean views while being dog friendly? Sign us up! Located in the Cannery Row area of Monterey, Louie Linguini's has pretty tasty food and options for those who love the beach but maybe aren't into seafood. The area it's in is beautiful, mostly by virtue of being right off the ocean, but also by the open plaza located just outside of it. Parking may be a big struggle in this area so plan ahead for that. They were able to accommodate our large party as walkins which was awesome, that's also not to say it wasn't busy because it was, they just had ample seating. We were seated on the outside wrap around porch so we were able to see a bit of the ocean while we ate. The menu is pretty diverse with solid appetizers and food options. On top of accommodating our dog they also have a dog menu so your dog can grab a bite with you and everyone else, another big plus (to all our fellow dog owners at least). The service was great, they were very on top of everything from drinks, to ordering, to making sure our dog got water and a mat so it didn't splash everywhere. For food we ordered the garlic bread, chicken fettuccine alfredo, fish and chips, and a medley for our dog. All the food came out pretty quick and hot with decent portion sizes. Starting with the garlic bread, it was great. Crunchy, salty, cheesy; a hit. The fettuccine alfredo was rich and creamy, not overly cheesy or thick from the sauce. The chicken was also good, not overpowering and mixed in very well with the rest of the meal. The fish and chips were good, but not as good as expected. The breading and fish were very light, meaning it kept falling apart every time we went for a bite, although the fries it came with were very good, crispy and light. Lastly, the dog meal was a hit. It comes as chicken placed in a bowl with wild rice and carrots and our dog vacuumed it up in just a few minutes. We went in very hungry and came out full and happy with our meal and the view. The final verdict on Louie Linguini's is that it's a great restaurant. Very accessible and well located among other things to do. The ability to have a diverse menu in a cannery where seafood is the baseline makes it a fantastic option for those who don't like fish but still want to eat in the area. Kids said, " chicken fingers were hot and fresh, fries were perfect, and pizza was very delicious and thin crust." I went on a day trip to Monterey with my family just wanting to get out and see the water and enjoy the views that Monterey has to offer. We didn't realize that a lot of restaurants are not child-friendly as they don't allow strollers, high chairs or booster seats (strollers can be parked near the restaurant but are not allowed in and I've seen places that have still refused guests with children) so at least Louie Linguini's does allow children and even has an elevator for strollers since it's upstairs. We got a seat right by the window so we had a great view. Our server was super friendly and checked in on us often. We got the - Sampler - came with calamari, shrimp and fried mozzarella. I'd say that the mozzarella was the star and it had a great cheese pull. - Fried artichokes - nicely fried - Clam chowder - I will say that we are a stickler for clam chowder so we are probably more picky than most. It tasted more-so of a thickener or potato forward rather than clams. I don't think our particular bowl had too many clams and also it's made with ham chunks and not bacon like we are used to. We hadn't been to Monterey in a while, and we chose Louie Linguini's, and we were glad we did, even among all the Cannery Row eating choices. Even on a Saturday night we were seated quickly and the service and attention by our server Matthew was flawless and very quick. We opted for a plate of fried calamari to start, and unlike some eateries we got both the tubes and the tentacles! -- others give you only the latter. We enjoyed our cocktails -- the Pomegranate Cosmo and the Louie's Island (with a little bit of everything). My companions enjoyed their Seafood Saute (with the shellfish), the Sicilian Seafood Linguini (with the spicy tomato sauce) and I thought my Blackened Rock Cod (with rice and capers) was terrific -- better than many versions in which the fish's seasoning lacks a little tang. It was a last minute decision to come here, they had us seated very quickly and checked in on us frequently. The staff were very friendly and inviting. The menu has a very nice selection in my opinion. Drink menu was very good as well. Tonight, they said the bartender called off but they had some different staff make the drinks. When I complimented my drink, our waitress told us they actually did the measurements this time since they had to use the recipes. I really encourage even the bartender uses measurements every time because my Whiskey Smash was sooo good. without the measurements, it wouldn't have been so delicious. The food itself was ready within 15 minutes after ordering, they were so fast. My Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo was delicious and hot! They gave us a great experience and I will 100% be coming again. My father and I walked into this restaurant looking for a spot to eat. We weren't even planning to dine here originally, but decided to give it a try. We checked in with a waitress and were seated. Not even a minute later, another Hispanic woman with black glasses hair slicked back stormed over and made a huge scene, loudly accusing us of just walking in and sitting down without checking in with anyone. She was rude, confrontational, and completely ignored the fact that their own staff had seated us. It was embarrassing and unnecessary--several other tables were staring. The whole experience left a bad taste before the food even arrived. When the food finally came, it was mediocre at best--nothing special, poorly seasoned, and definitely not worth the hassle. Service remained inconsistent and unfriendly throughout. Honestly, save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else. There are plenty of better restaurants with welcoming staff and decent food. Honestly the highlight of my meal was the sangria. It was delicious. As for food, we tried the Margherita pizza and fish and chips. The pizza was just okay. The dough was very crumbly and dry. The fish and chips were good but the fish literally slipped out of the breading as soon as you took a bite. Service was fine and restaurant was clean. So I decided to give this place a try on my recent trip to Monterey with the family. The service was good , not too attentive but I don't mind since I'm there for the food. For the kids we order the kids pizza which was a pretty good size pizza, so maybe more for like two kids lol. We also ordered the cioppino,piccata Monterey rock cod and salmon entree. They all tasted good but I was disappointed on the cioppino. The cioppino being their signature dish , wasn't what I expected. For one the dish that came out didn't look like the picture they advertised on line. Two the plating made it look like a bisque and three the texture of the broth/soup was grainy. It didn't taste much like seafood. If the signature dish would have been presented more like their online menu picture and the broth/soup would have consisted more of a seafood flavor, I would have given this a place a 5. read more

We were told it would be about a 15-20 min wait and ended up waiting around 30 mins. They weren't super busy either, so that was a little confusing. Our server was very sweet and nice. The food was more on the pricey side, not surprised considering the ocean is right there. Their clam chowder did surprise me, there was a lot of clams and toppings in the soup. I wish the bread bowl was toasted/warmed, that would've elevated the dish. The Fisherman's Plate was standard, the calamari was the best thing on it. Service was mediocre honestly. Our waters were not refilled and took forever to get our check. Food was just ok. Calamari was chewy, slaw was sour fried fish and shrimp ok . My husband and I go Louis every time we are in Monterey. They always have good service, and fresh tasty food. The restaurant is right by the ocean so the view is great. First time here .... I had chicken with rice and veggies very delicious . We ordered a pizza not the best pizza not much flavor cold. My kid had the chicken grilled cheese she ate it all so must of been good other child had the hamburger also finished the whole plate. The view was beautiful but the restaurant kind of looks run down could use a make over. I mean the area is beautiful and the price is pricey. I had also asked for some biscuit or bread and butter to go with my chicken. She said we only have garlic bread but she could have offered me a plain piece of bread with butter and charged me. We originally tried to dine at The Fish Hopper across the way but were turned away because they "don't allow strollers inside." We were so disappointed -- we just wanted to enjoy an oceanfront meal with our baby. They even told us most restaurants here don't allow strollers, which turned out to be completely untrue. As we walked down Cannery Row, we passed Louie Linguini's and the kind lady downstairs greeted us. I asked if she could recommend a stroller-friendly place, and she smiled and said, "Our restaurant allows strollers." She even directed us to the elevator inside the shop, which made things so much easier. The place was busy with an estimated 25-minute wait, but they seated us in about 10 minutes. Our server, Cindy, was incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious -- we had the chowder, crab fries, and rockcod -- all fresh and flavorful. Prices were fair, and the experience was miles better than where we started. If you're visiting Cannery Row with a family (or stroller!), Louie Linguini's is the place to go. Great food, great service, and they actually make you feel welcome. read more

This is one place on Cannery Row that I had not eaten so I had to give it a shot. Overall, we had a good meal but the service was a little slow. It was cool we got a table by the window. I really appreciated that. After the initial drinks the waiter kind of left us hanging. I had the Captain's Platter which is fried everything! It was good. Breading was light which I enjoyed. The fries are beer battered and I don't care for those. I noticed a lot of folks on the reviews loved the fries. My wife had the cod and asked for pasta instead of mashed potatoes. Her veggies were fresh and excellent. She enjoyed her meal. I did a Yelp check in and we got two free cups of clam chowder. Really enjoyed that! Great clam chowder. The dining room seems a little cold and not in tip top shape. It seems dated and not cozy. I noticed they had some space heaters around the room. The problem with the restaurants on Cannery Row is they know you are stuck with them because the views are magnificent. Food was pretty good. I ordered the Shrimp Aurora Pasta & we got the fried calamari as an appetizer for the table. I was a bit surprised how long we had to wait before we were seated. I know that our group was fairly large, but the area that they seated us only had 1 group of people eating there and the rest of that section was completely empty. So I wasn't sure why we had to wait about 30 mins before being seated. The service of our waiters were much better after that and were very appreciative of them considering we were a really large group. The pasta tasted great and I had no complaints. We have been eating at Louie Linguini's for over 20 years now. It is the best restaurant not only on Cannery Row but in Monterey County. The food is great, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere can't be beat!!! General Manager Lance Koehler runs a tight ship and is continuously trying to keep his prices lower than most other restaurants and reasonable. Spent the New Year in Monterey and my first choice was Louie Linguini because we were hungry and it was right there in front of us. My husband didn't like the 3.5 rating and was looking around. Our companions were vegetarians so we had to choose the right place for them. After walking around for more than 30+ min we ended up at my first choice. Geesh! I checked in and got 2 free cups of Clam Chowder. Sweet! Always check in, you'll be surprised at the freebies or discounts you'll get. The Clam Chowder was pretty good. I ordered the Fish and Chips and it was very good especially the fries. My husband had the Fish Tacos with fries. He said they were just so-so but the fries were delish. We found this restaurant a couple of years ago while looking for a place to take quick lunch break from the aquarium. They had a little stall below the restaurant (next to Ghirardelli) and they were handing out free samples of the chowder. It was actually good so we decided to eat here. Another selling point for us was that we could leave our stroller towards the back corner of their restaurant, not super far away where we had to worry about it throughout the meal. Service both times has been great. I think they were just starting their dinner rush when we were there today, but we didnt wait for an absurd amount of time to be seated or for our food. (Which was awesome because we had 2 very hungry children). Food was good. Not the best, most amazing meal you'll ever have, but not your typical "tourist trap" restaurant that serves bland food. This place is in between an Olive Garden and a mom and pops Italian restaurant. The service was quick for being lunch hour in a tourist location. The drinks were mixed mine felt a little water down while the wife's was to strong. The food wasn't bad but wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. This place has a great view of the beach. We stopped by here for an early dinner on a weekend without reservations but did manage to get a table immediately with a decent view. If you're particular about the table by the window, then I'd recommend having a reservation. A fair bit of warning: the portion sizes are quite large here. Thankfully, we peeked at the neighboring tables to get an idea of the portion size and ordered less, yet couldn't finish everything.  We ordered the Louie 's appetizer sampler, which was quite nice. It had a little bit of everything and was a good way to try different items. I got a cup of clam chowder, which was perfect, and we also got a mixed green salad, which wasn't impressive. Decided to try this Louie's out on our last day of our staycation - hostess was great in accommodating our party (3 humans 1 fur baby). We were able to get seated outside since the weather was so great this weekend. We got an order of the fettuccine Alfredo w/ crab meat , the kids rock fish & fries , the fisherman's platter & the hamburger meal for our fur baby. Wait for our food after ordering was very quick - we waited roughly 5 min or so. But our pup's food took a bit longer- about 25min. But it did come out in a cool looking bone shaped place mat lol All in all our food was good, I did have to add salt and pepper to my fettuccine but other than that food wasn't mind blowing per se but nonetheless was very good read more

There was a small wait upon arriving which was expected peak supper time. We got seated right by a window which had a gorgeous view. I believe our server was Matthew who was very friendly, our order didn't take long, we started with waters and coke, then garlic bread for an appetizer which was perfectly crisp. My partner and I shared the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken and a salmon blt with fries. The fries were perfect and the salmon was cooked perfectly.
