My friends and I have ordered from here for pickup numerous times. We've tried a lot of their pasta dishes, soup, salad, and pizza. Our go-to is the grandma pie. Nice thin, crispy crust and loaded with fresh garlic. You don't need to add any seasoning to it because it's so flavorful. The food is always fresh, hot, and tasty. Had an occasion to eat there in person recently. Got a grandma slice and an eggplant slice. The slices were pretty big. I had never had the eggplant one here before. It had (from what I could see) thin slices of fried breaded eggplant, ricotta cheese, tomato sauce, basil, and garlic. I felt that this was a slightly thicker crust so that the toppings wouldn't make the pizza soggy, but the crust was still nice and crispy. This slice wasn't as flavorful as the grandma, but it was more filling--overall a solid choice. All the guys who work there are friendly and quick to get your order out. The restaurant has plenty of seating and it has a homey feel to it. And on a cold day, it's nice to be in a warm place from the oven and where there's the aroma of cooking pizza. read more

Was recommended to give this place a try. A bit out of my way but took the drive. Let me tell you glad I did. Had a grandma pie and a pepperoni, both were great. The grandma pizza was made perfect, not to think not thick either. Crispy crust but not burnt. The sauce was not overpowering and pizza was not soggy. Pepperoni pie was also made very well, nice crispy crust and rest was just perfect. Had the Orlando pasta and also the Penne Àlla vodka, both being great. So much more on the menu and would like to try some of the specialty slices and other pastas. What a great staff also. All super friendly and service was fast. Everything made fresh. Pre-COVID-19: The only real deal pizza in Parsons since forever, not associated with St. John's University but surprisingly close to the college! Growing up in this area of Briarwood/Jamaica Queens, you are quite limited in food options within walking distance. This was definitely the mom-and-pop local pizza spot in the area to go with your family and childhood friends. The food is good, cheap, and feeds the locals without ordering from big chains out in Flushing/Union Turnpike where the quality suffers from mediocrity. Overall, this was my go-to growing up if you were craving NY style pizza in the neighborhood with a crispiness and cheesiness that I reminisce. They also have delicious garlic knots and pepperoni stromboli here and other Italian dishes. The shop is quite small, so it is better to order and pickup. Average to mediocre pizza, but great Italian food as bizarre as it sounds for a place that sells itself as a pizzeria they do much better Italian food here than they sell a slice, but like with any business variety is the key to staying afloat, especially in this day and age and especially in a local neighborhood spot. John's Pizzeria is a family owned business, been in this neighborhood for 50 years at least and most importantly their customer service is always great. This is tough. Could have been 4 stars, but walked in and immediately got yelled at by Mr. Man bun! Be glad my wife was with me shrimp or you'd be on your back wondering what just happened. Then we sat there for 10min staring at everyone before man bun came to take our order. Pizza was spot on, delicious! Service is horrible. However after years of not frequenting this establishment; I decided to try the pizza. First, the pizza on a whole was ok, better than some and but not on the same level as the better pizza shops. I've been coming here for the last 4 years and should have written a review by now. Although I live in the Jamaica Queens area, this is my go to place for pizza. It works out for me since it's roughly the half way point when I'm driving back from grocery shopping in Forest Hills. My favs are a couple of cheese slices or the grandma slices and I wash them down with a coca-cola or rootbeer. The service is great and the seating area is large enough for a few tables. I've loved John's since I was a child. Growing up in Jamaica this is one of my local pizza spots and I've grown up eating this local staple. If you ask anyone from the area, you'll always hear good things about John's and I'm happy to share my love of this establishment. The ingredients are fresh, the cheese, delicious, the crust is crispy but soft, not soggy like other spots. I literally ate two large pies with my boys the last time I was hear. First time coming here and the ambiance was nice for a small pizzeria like this! Ordered the carbonara, grandma slice and calamari! The carbonara was okay (still missing authentic italian carbonara), grandma slice and calamari were what is expected! The waitress was very friendly and checked back on us multiple times! My only complaint is that my eyes started to burn towards the end because the air was not well ventilated and I feel the smoke was making the air in the place bad. We lived in the neighborhood for 15 years, and John's was our go-to place for pizza. We frequented it/or ordered delivery at least a few times a month and it never, I mean never disappointed us. Ambience is nice. The food is always delicious, fresh, and filling. The staff are lovely, there are some folks who have been there for a while, and the owner and his son were at the front for many years that we went there. We usually ordered pizza, soup, and salad. The garden gnome sized Italian pizza chef at the door was holding a tray of coins and none were of the penny family, all silver -- like a reverse wishing well. Probably one of the prettiest pizza joints I have been to, murals, flowers and all pizza condiments were properly filled and each table had their very own jars of garlic powder, oregano, red pepper and pepper. A little server girl in a well pressed uniform whisked around the tables as if she were on roller skates, clearing and serving foods from the kitchen. When I look at a slice of pizza, I look first at the layer just above the crust, the oily looking area before the cheese, its slight and goes unnoticed, unless you know what your looking for. Its the balance and prevents dry crust and unfortunately this area was not well layered leaving a crust that could cut a clothesline, so the regular slice was a bust. However, attention was paid to the Grandma slice, perfect layered crust, wonderful slice although they will bang you for the more designer pizza and they did. Top of the heap in the cleanliness arena, there was someone scrubbing the toilet upon my attempted entrance. The entire restaurant would have the Department of Health creating a new grade of A++, love that!! read more

Since moving to Briarwood in 2013, we've loved John's. The pizza is always top notch! But we moved and realized the pizza nearby just wasn't John's. Our daughter's first pizza came from John's so for her second birthday we had to get that. The birthday girl, and her many guests loved the food! Toddlers and adults both loved the pizza, we got subs (one chicken with mozzarella, one grilled veggies, one Italian) which were a huge hit! The chicken had a great grilled flavor, with fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers. The grilled veggies had incredible flavor, and the Italian, for me, tasted like home. Being from Queens this is my go to pizza place. So every time I visit NYC, I make sure to get John's pizza, whether it is dinning in or taking out. Their food is always great and really fresh! They have a nice restaurant, and a good delivery and take out service. What I've tried so far: Their garlic knots are crunchy and have the right amount of garlic seasoning. Yum! Their Calzones are yummy and very filling. Their cheese pizza is delicious. Love it!!! Their Eggplant rollinti is so good. Breaded eggplant with ricotta cheese in the center with sauce.
