Location across from Elmhurst hospital can be chaotic and parking is tight, but the pizza here is impossibly thin and crispy. Haven't had any pizza like this since Pizza Palace on Bayard Street by Columbus Park closed. Easy to eat half a pie by oneself. Crispy, thin crust, perfect amount of sauce and oil (about 2 drips per plain slice, not drowning, but reminds you that this is true NYC pizza), lightly cheesed, but still has a good stringy mozzarella pull. For a similar, but slightly thicker (100% yum factor) NYC slice, it's Manos in Ridgewood. For, the thinnest and crispiest plain slice in NYC, Louie's is the standard bearer. Parked in front, ordered a whole pie, ran inside, threw down some cash, waited outside for the fresh pie to bake. 10 minutes later the owner (possibly Louie hisself) delivers the fresh pie to my car outside and actually thanks me. True Twilight Zone stuff. I scarf a fresh, hot slice straight from the carton before stowing the balance back to Long Island for additional reheat confirmation. With all the political nonsense ongoing, thank Goodness that a righteous, NYC plain slice is still alive, well and residing in un-hipster, un-gentrified, un-apologetically friendly-neighborhood Spiderman Elmhurst. "Best NYC style pizza" is a term that is minimized and bandied about every time some new $60, limited-run, kraft pizza from Japan is the current darling. We submit that this is not the case here. May Louie's be here after all the LES, deep dish, 3 Michelin star bakers and pizza itamae have exhausted their day in the limelight - and leases. $20 all-in (until the hipster masses beat a path here to make Louie's their pizza crusade ) Thank you Louie for giving us working class masses the best, true, unlimited, unpretentious, no-lines, no soup Nazi, no upsell, satisfyingly NYC pizza a $20 can still buy. PS: please don't renovate or move as your pizzeria is a time-capsule whose prime ingredient is sincerity.
I came here last week with my friend and a group of foodies to help support this wonderful pizza place in Jackson Heights, Queens. The staff here are amazing and literally help keep criminals off the street and are devoted to their community. Ironically, I didn't get to try the pizza. Just means, I have to come back some day. But I hear the Sicilian is amazing. This place makes way more than just pizza and has house made fresh pasta and more unique dishes that you would never expect in a pizza parlor like ribeye steak. We ended up splitting and sharing entrees: Agnolotti (Kind of ravioli shaped and stuffed with ricotta and spinach in a pesto sauce), Fettuccine Bolognese, Penne in a tomato sauce (not sure if it was vodka or arrabiata), chicken with crabmeat, and the ribeye steak. My favorite easily and very oddly was the chicken slathered in a mustard sauce with crabmeat. This was the most juicy and tantalizingly delicious chicken I've had in a minute. I would also never have ordered this in a million years. So I'm glad someone else thought to include this. The pastas were very good even though I only tried a tiny bit but I'd definitely order the agnolotti. The steak was cooked surprisingly to perfection. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. This entire meal did not break the bank. I think their slices also go for only $3 and a specialty slice is $4.50. Very old school family oriented and classic.
On my way to the Met game I stopped by Louie's a solid neighborhood pizza slice shop. Conveniently located off the 7 train 82nd st stop. Busy, active and definitely for the community given the notes, decorations. I always wanted to stop by here for a slice after watching the owner and father's heroic effort protecting an Asian lady who was being robbed in front of their store. Slice was solid at $3. OK looking undercarriage but limited floop. Only knock is bottom had too much flour remaining. Solid neighborhood spot. People were getting pasta dishes too. Ample seating. Friendly staff.
Love love love the crispy crust on a cheese slice. I don't usually eat the crust at other pizza joints but I eat it all here. No flop and the crunchy crisp when you take your first bite will make u a fan. The grandma pizza is also my favorite. The staff are great people and that is why I keep coming back. I got to try the ribeye steak next time. Yes, ribeye steak. Way too many ppl have told me the steak is top notch.
Ate here today for lunch by myself while walking around my neighborhood. I definitely got two different kinds of slices which are both the Sicilian slice and the grandma pie slice that it was absolutely delicious and amazing. The service there was also attentive and super fast and friendly. This was also a hidden gem near my neighborhood and many thanks to the actual Louie guy for taking my orders. I couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)
My Brother and I were going to try out as many pizza places as we could on our drive through the city. Louie's was our 2nd stop of the day, and when the day was over, it turned out to be my favorite slice of the day! We went with one of their grandma slices. This slice was so damned good! Huge square of pizza with fresh mozzarella, great sauce and a super crisp crust. Textures and taste were on point. It did have a lingering strong oregano aftertaste, but even with that, it was still an amazing slice and my favorite of the day. I would eat here every day if I lived close by. Haven't had anything close to as good of a square slice as this one at Louie's!
If pizza is the mana of life, then Louie's is one of the cathedrals to great pizza. Just landing at LaGuardia and having a hankering for some REAL New York pizza, I found Louie's of Elmhurst. The only thing disappointing was parking is the worst, especially on a Saturday night. I ordered a Grandma's pie, a plain cheese pie, and a chicken roll. The sauce at Louie's stands out as one of the best I have ever had on pizza. And each pie's sauce was different enough to differentiate between them. Both very zesty with strong flavors of garlic & oregano. The sauce of legends. The sauce that cradles the cheese perfectly on hand tossed crusts that are baked to perfection and actually reheat the next day tasting, believe it or not, better than fresh out of the box. The Grandma's was a substantial slab of pizza making art; a perfect example of what happens when the sauce brings together all the ingredients into an orgasm of flavor in your mouth. The plain slice was as delicious in a much simpler form. Again, the sauce and the ratio of sauce: cheese: crust was perfect. Magic happened between the cheese and crust leading to a flavor that is pizza nirvana. Oh yeah, the chicken roll was great. Lots of chicken, just the right amount of cheese, not overly breaded with a side of sauce. Really good and substantial. But, the pizza reigns supreme at Louie's.
Louie's is located in a neighborhood that is absolutely bursting with energy and life, so it makes perfect sense that a restaurant so entwined in the neighborhood is so vibrant. The owner greets people from behind the counter and is as interested in asking local kids about how school is as asking new visitors to his place where they're from. That's an old school vibe and I'm here for it. Of course I'm also all about the food, and I'm happy to say that it was exceptional. I brought along my go-to judge of chicken rolls and she was quite impressed. The flavor of the chicken was amazing, the cheese to sauce ratio (enough but not too much sauce, lots of cheese) was perfect, and the size of the sandwich was massive. That last point makes me happy because recently a lot of places are cutting corners and Louie's is definately not. A $10 sandwich should be substantial and delicious, and here it unquestionably is. We also found room to try their legendary Grandma Slice, which was everything that we hoped it would be. Airy, sauced properly, cheesy and crisp, it was a masterclass in (arguably) that third category of NY pizza. Louie's is a short walk from the 74th / Broadway subway hub, even shorter from the 82nd St. 7 train stop, which makes it easy to get to from all of the boroughs that matter, and about 20 minutes from Manhattan. There's really no reason for you not to go.
Checked out Louie's after a nice Mets win. Located in the Queens/Jackson Heights neighborhood place is a must try for lovers of homemade Italian cuisine. Perfect spot to grab a NY slice or try any of their homemade pastas. Service was 10/10, folks were passionate about their food I knew I was in for a treat. Place was rockin on a late Sat night, couple tables and booths inside not large. I went with a pepperoni slice as an appetizer, good crisp on the pizza and for sure hit the spot. For entrees my wife opted for the Chicken Parm and I went with the Fettuccine Bolognese which is their meat sauce made with ground beef and veal. Heaping portions that made even better leftovers the next day, I can't wait to return to this place, LOVE Louie's!!
This local pizzeria is a must to patronize each time I come home to Elmhurst. The family who runs this business is so endearing and qualified. The pizzeria is clean and well-kept. It's normal for customers to tell the young man (I forget his name) their order and leave, as I did, to run nearby errands. Upon seeing you return, the young man will loudly declare your order is ready, piping hot to pick up and go. This time, mine was a large cheese pie. Tipping is optional but I always slide in a dollar or two. The pizza is fantastic--thin, cheesy, saucy. I hope Louies is always in business; they are the heartbeat of Baxter Avenue.
If you ask anyone, I love a good slice of pizza anytime! It doesn't even have to be complicated with tons of toppings. When I am hungry, one regular slice or Sicilian is all it takes. Truly! How would I describe the slice? Delicious crust. Unburned bottom. Tasty! I usually grab my slice to go, but today I was just so tired and needed a place to sit. So good news, now you can have a seat and enjoy your food...yes, I repeat there is indoor seating! Yay! It's good vibes in here! I just feel at home. Not to mention that the owner, Louie, is really warm and kind. It just has that family feel...I don't how else to describe the ambience except simple yet homey/comfy. It's so cool to see the art on the walls...a rendering of Louie's Pizzeria on the walls that you could tell was painted/drawn with love. Plus, I like to see so many different walks of life come through.

I been hearing about this place from a friend, who lives in the area. They have the best Grandma's slice she ever had. This is also the father and son duo that are the local heroes, who were injured in the process of helping someone else. This was on that day when the family was giving away free slices, which I missed. I finally got to try the grandma slices my friend has been raving about. In addition, they are Mets fans. No brainer in definitely supporting them. Oh wow! There were 2 grandma slices in the bag to start. Well, on the way to my next destination, I got hungry (it happens frequently) and I ate a slice. These grandma slices were really good. The sauce was just the right amount on top of the dough. Heard from the other patrons that the pasta entrees are good too. I have to go back to try them and get another grandma slice. read more

The sandwiches here are gigantic and such a great deal, my dad loves coming here with me just to split one hero for a light lunch. My favorite is the chicken parm; the bread is nice and crunchy and the sandwich is stuffed with chicken - no skimping here folks. But, how can we in conscience make it a light lunch when there's handmade pasta and pizza made with love ?? Agnolotti pesto was really yummy and you don't see many casual pizza spots pumping out quality pasta as well. Been here multiple times and Louie is such a sweetheart. You really do get the sense that he loves providing for his customers and his community and appreciates and connects to each of his customers no matter who they are or where they come from, what a New Yorker should be. He is the epitome of what corporate restaurants wish you could see them as, honestly. He is the face of hospitality and makes you believe there are genuinely good people in the world. read more
Mama mia - great spot! I had heard about this spot after the heroic actions of owners Louie and Cazim coming to the aid of a woman who was attacked outside their restaurant. I popped in on a beautiful, sunny Monday and Louie's was buzzing with people enjoying their late lunches and a few students (who looked like regulars) settling in to split 1 cheese and 1 pepperoni pie. I think Louie was working the counter when I ordered - kind, friendly and took the time to ask me about how my weekend was. So sweet! Pizza blogger Adam Kuban had sung the praises of the grandma slice and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I almost want to call it a Sicilian Grandma bc it was a bit thicker than I expected, but the crunch and crust of this corner piece were to die for. The ingredients were definitely made it a solid grandma. Really fresh sauce, perfect amount of mozzarella, and an outstanding blend of herbs and oil to tie it all together. I wish I got two! Can't wait to come back here and enjoy everything else they have to offer (plus another grandma). read more

This son and dad pizza place is amazing with wonderful service. Such a delicious pizza place for people working and living in this area. Their grandma pie is the best grandma pie I ever had, and I had many It has a crispy crust, but the inside is nice and fluffy. The tomato sauce is so yummy and not acidic and the cheese and toppings are very generously spread. If you are in the area, this place is a must visit. We will be back soon. read more

There's nothing I can say about the pizza that others haven't already said about it and it will continue to receive ongoing praise. I keep it simple. I always call my order in to avoid wait times. I order the same thing because I know it's going to be good. It's ready within 20-25 minutes ; it takes me about this long to drive there. I pick it up cause i'm faster and would rather tip the store than the delivery person. As a result of the above, I have a good time. I care if it's actually a Sicilian or a Grandma as much as I care if the owners are importing San Marzano tomatoes and they serenade the sauce when they make it. It's my kids first time in New York and I wanted them to experience a true NY style pizzeria - I was NOT disappointed. We took an Uber to Louie's and ordered a range of slices & the highly recommended pepperoni pinwheel. Everything was smashing and authentically delicious...& here's the kicker - it's cheap! The grandma pie is amazingly delicious! The right amount of sauce and the crust is just perfect! Louie's might just be one of my favorite pizza places in Queens! I would stop here more often if I lived closer. Ordered for delivery and it arrived in less than one hour! Amazing delivery service! After 30 mins of receiving the pizza- Louie himself called to check up on us to see how the pizza was since we lived a bit far from their delivery zone. Told him it arrived hot, fresh and delicious! If you haven't heard of Louie's, you're definitely doing yourself a disservice. That grandma slice is literally to die for. The owner and his son (I believe who are working in the front) are really nice and it's nice that there is a fantastic pizzeria in an area where, dare I say, Italian food is lacking (albeit it's an endless buffet for other types of cuisine). I would definitely return to try other things on their menu and to take a grandma pie home. read more

Flew all the way from Orlando to visit my old stomping grounds in Elmhurst. Googled best pizza in Elmhurst and Louie's Pizzeria popped up. Saw what the brave owners did a couple years ago and decided to check this place out. Let me tell you that it did not disappoint. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and promptly took our order. I think this might be my favorite pizza spot to date. I ordered delivery by calling the pizzeria direct and ordered a grandma pie with pepperoni and two orders of garlic knots. The food came within the hour and it was extremely fresh and hot. I normally don't eat the crust of pizza, but I thought the crust on this pie was delicious. The food came packed within a heat retention type of bag and because it was raining, there was an extra cover of plastic around to protect as well. I'm looking forward to trying a regular pie next time! read more
Food: 3/5 I was so excited to try this place due to all the good reviews on Yelp. I'm convinced that every time I see great reviews on Yelp, the food tends to be a disappointment. Maybe I hype myself up too much? I ordered a chicken caesar salad and a linguine bolognese. The chicken caesar (2.5/5) was just average. Nothing really made it special. The parmesan cheese in the salad reminded me of the complimentary cheese you can sprinkle on top of your pizza. The linguine bolognese (2/5) was underwhelming. The pasta was overcooked and a bit soggy. The sauce was bland and had a hint of tomato. Not too much flavor in my opinion. Service: 3/5 Ordered to go. The pizza is delicious. The crust was audibly crispy and very thin. There's a good amount of cheese, it's a very New York style slice. Better than most I've had in the city and I grew up here. That's about the food. Outside of the food, the owners are super active in the Elmhurst community. They both got hospitalized by saving a Korean elder from being murdered and stabbed to death. They also supported healthcare workers with meals during the height of the pandemic at the epicenter in Elmhurst. Amazing family and delicious pizza!! read more

Really glad Louie's is up and running again. It seems Dad and Son are doing alright, and business is back on track. We missed you! Friends joined us for an awesome pizza party. It was a carb and cheese fest. And since anchovies are hard to find, we decided to hit it hard! Everything was enormous, fresh and delicious. Terrific value, too. The pepperoni pizza hit the spot (a true NY slice). The Fettuccini Bolognese was also delicious; just the right tang! The meat sauce's delicious and the meal doesn't taste heavy/greasy. The Agnolotti is equally delicious. Such a saucy dish, I've used the complimentary bread to dip into the pesto! Staff was super friendly; a definite revisit to this pizzeria from me! read more

I spent hours scouring ALL the reviews from Oceanside Long Island, the four corners to Queens. Naples looked terrific but $25 for a small personal pizza to me was a bit over the top. I was waiting for my daughter at her physician's in Oceanside and FINALLY picked Louie's! GREAT super delicious PERFECT seasoned SAUCE!!!! 11 years at this location. LOVED the " genuine OLD New York" no fuss pizza parlor ambiance. I truly miss the New York of the 60's, '70's. People were super wonderful back then, especially the classic no BS foreign born Seniors, now long long gone. Louie's HAS the sauce-- the very MOST important element of a real New York pizza. I even bought a pound of it to dip their perfect doughy home made crust into. The grandma pizza looked AMAZING, but my daughter wanted plain cheese and the other half, margarita. I would have picked a full large Grandma. Or large 1/2 anchovy. 1/2 sausage. But our kids come first! The plain cheese, Just like ordering soup at any restaurant is the TRUE litmus test of a top quality chef pizzeria. This plain pizza brought me RIGHT BACK to Brooklyn Heights BORO Hall on Henry Street in the 1980's when our 2 bedroom vaulted ceiling apt was $450! THE QUEEN pizzeria !!!!!! Oh! Like NO other pizzeria now long long gone. Just a tiny window open on Henry Street right next to their Italian restaurant now a Duane Reade..... AND.... it was the Queen's sauce combined with a fine thin crust perfectly baked with the right amount of oil on top. I LOVE to cook and have always had a full cabinet of spices. Cooking Italian is my favorite. And when I say Louie's is good, it is GOOD pizza. Crust had JUST the right texture. Light. Thin. Oh, and don't forget to get some of their sauce for dipping into , with your slice. Enjoy! read more
I've been meaning to check out Louie's for a very long time and have no excuse for why it took me so long to finally make it there (especially since I consider pizza a major food group). That all changed today, and suffice it to say, this place truly does not disappoint. My husband and I shared a grandma pie and added pepperoni, mushrooms, and ham. The toppings were not needed but were ridiculously delicious nonetheless. The reviews and photos of this pizza do not do it justice. You really have to experience it in person. The crust is perfection--so airy and crispy. The sauce is so flavorful and such a great consistency, and it's clear that they use very high quality ingredients in general. It was the best grandma pie I've ever experienced (and I lived in Brooklyn for 14 years before moving to Queens 4 years ago). The place was pretty packed with people dining in and getting slices to go, and it was really impressive and endearing to see so many regulars come in and hug the guys running the place. You can see how close they are with the community they serve, which is so amazing. It definitely added to the great experience. I look forward to visiting again soon. I have eaten here for many years & their pizza is always yummy. This time I came w my brother (chiropractor works around corner) & he introduced me to this insanely delish rib eye steak. It's a monster portion & as tender & flavorful as can be. I shall def be coming back! Highly recommend to any meat eater...you will devour it! read more

Holy moly! That is one big hero, and for only $10! I went there on a recommendation that not only do they have good food, besides pizza, but their chicken parm hero is big. Will definitely be going back for that again and trying other things on their menu. read more

**Delivery Review** Needed a quick meal to arrive as we were heading back home on a Saturday night. Though not on any apps, this spot was able to deliver to our address within 30 minutes after taking the order over the phone. Between two people: ordered a Margarita Slice ($2.50), Green Pepper Slice ($2.50), Baked Ziti ($12), and 10-Piece Wings ($11). The wings and ziti arrived super hot in their wrapped containers, while the slices were lukewarm at best. The Margherita slice is your basic fare, decent amount of cheese, sauce, and basil. Feels like it was sitting out for a bit, but overall fine enough to eat. The Green Pepper slice is much more literal - a basic cheese slice topped with a few chunks of green peppers. Looks like they literally cut up half a giant green pepper and plopped it on top of the pizza; not great. Baked ziti is super cheesy, each bite coming with well melted mozzarella (albeit not enough sauce). Buffalo Wings are the best of the bunch - not overly cooked and served alongside tangy ranch dressing. I did like the fast delivery and the wings particularly. If ordering the pizza, best to go with a full pie instead of slices. read more
