So I've driven past Louis' Chophouse so many times and didn't think much about it but I had a gift card so we gave it a try. It was amazing! The space is really bright and well maintained. The food and drinks were phenomenal and very reasonably priced for a quality steakhouse. The service was excellent and the live piano player was a great touch. We have eaten here a couple times before. We went on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays. Upon arrival, the two hostesses spent a few minutes trying to figure out where to seat us, even though we had reservations. The restaurant was less than half full but we were seated at the worst table in the house. We actually faced the wall with our backs to the rest of the restaurant! We accepted that and went on to order. The bread and oil was delicious, the drinks were good, the crab stuffed mushrooms were ok, but the most disappointing thing was my husband's filet. We both ordered filet cooked medium. As soon as our plates were sat down, I noticed my husband's was the butt end of the tenderloin. I didn't even have time to say anything before the waitress asked us to cut into our steaks and see if they were cooked the way we wanted them. Mine was perfect. My husband's looked like it was well-done but he didn't say anything. When the waitress left, he began to try to cut the filet. It was so tough he ended up eating half of mine and leaving his on his plate untouched after the first bite. When we were done eating the waitress came to pick up our plates. She didn't mention the whole filet sitting on the plate, even though all plates were completely empty except that. When she brought the bill, I mentioned to her that his steak was so tough he couldn't eat it. She defended herself stating that she had "asked" him if it was cooked the way he wanted. Mind you he had not taken a bite when she had asked. She did not offer to credit the bill in any way but said had she known, she would have asked the cook to make another one. We were already facing the wall, we just wanted to have a nice, celebratory meal. This explains why the restaurant was half empty on a Saturday night at prime time. We don't mind spending over $200 when the food and service are good, but not for that. We will never go back. read more

Louis is always consistent. Our family has been eating here what feels like forever (I should check when it opened and revise this post). We get a good meal, good service and enjoy our dinners.Louis has later hours which we love. A constant order is calamari, French onion soup- which is always good. Tableside service is available and fun if you're in the mood for table side Caesar salad or meats. We tend to have steak eaters and all enjoy their meats- another favorite is prime rib. On our last dinner our teens stepped off the path- ordered chicken fettuccine and it was not popular. The ambiance of Louis is traditional steak house, white linens, candles in tables, leather booths. I will say it is bright and pleasant. I went here for a work event, and sat in the event room. We sat next to the fireplace, which gave us a cozy vibe. The servers were attentive, and offered us bowls of bread and butter, along with keeping our beverages full. I'm a vegetarian, so I ordered the eggs Benedict, without the meat. It came with a side as well, so I chose a sweet potato. The food was good, but nothing that knocked my socks off. Perhaps a carnivore could offer a different perspective, since this IS a chophouse. Walking in, this restaurant did not have your typical Chop House feel. It felt more like a strip mall restaurant., not a cozy, upscale steakhouse. Service was adequate although not very friendly. I ordered a ribeye medium rare and shame on them as a Chop House for bringing me a medium steak. They did bring out a new one that was cooked correctly but it didn't really make up for getting it wrong the first time as this is supposed to be their specialty. Weekend night listening to the piano music is one of my favorite things about this restaurant. The wine list is a solid one with options that pair well with everything on the menu. I recommend the Boulevard Salad with the French Onion soup as a starter. The dressing is house made and fantastic. A real gem of restaurant with several staff having been there for years. Louis' Chop House is an upscale restaurant with old charm interior. It is recommended to make a reservation which I called the day before. I had the tiramisu martini which was excellent as the first sip was the true taste of the beloved Italian dessert. We enjoyed the Saganaki -traditional Greek dish. For the entree,I enjoyed a large portion of the chicken parmesan and my other half had steak with an À la carte potatoes. He also enjoyed a Moscow mule adult beverage. The service was good, friendly. I came here with a group of 19 people. We were sat in a private room, which was nice so we could not be too loud for other people . The service wasn't bad, but I didn't really know who our server was (we had three) and it took a while for drinks and bread, although the food came out actually pretty quick. The filet and Detroiter were delicious. The Au Gratin potatoes (not pictured) were a hit and I would definitely recommend a side of that. My cauliflower wasn't my favorite so I probably wouldn't order it again. The steak potatoes were hardly seasoned. And I heard the frog legs weren't tasty. But my stout on tap was $7.50 and it was delicious. I would come back and try some other dishes. I know people were saying in the comments this place is very expensive, but compared to other places, this place isn't that expensive. But it is worth the money. Oh, and if you are with a group, they can split the bill evenly between each bill or they will put it on one card, but they do not take numerous payments on a table. read more

Had dinner there on a Friday night and the fact that it was practically empty should have been a sign. The only good thing was the water service as they came fast and furious with it. The steaks were ok kind of tough but not terrible. The pasta dishes that were ordered were disgusting. Alfredo sauce shouldn't taste like uncooked wine or any wine for that matter. We ordered asparagus, twice baked potatoes, steak fries and broccoli for side dishes. The asparagus was tough and woody, there was also about 6 dainty pieces on the dish. The twice baked potatoes were disgusting, it was like they were filled with blue cheese. If you're going to put odd ingredients in your dishes you should probably describe it on your menu. When we said we don't like things nothing was done about it. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Make the drive and go to Mr. Pauls or the Brewery if you're looking for a nice steakhouse. If you don't want to drive go to Texas Roadhouse you'll be much happier. read more

Well our 22nd Anniversary, we started out at Mr. Paul's Chop House, this was against my better judgement , but my wife of 22 years wanted to try something new , we have eaten at Louis before and the service was spectacular that evening 2 years ago. Long story short my judgement was correct Mr Paul's was a total no bueno! After waiting 1.5 hours I lost my patience called Louis's and made a reservation, left Paul's and hightailed it to my Original preference. Was not disappointed! Live music by the piano, excellent wine selection, great romantic atmosphere and lighting. Appetizer tasted amazing and light cooked to perfection, Paul's Chop house the customers waiting were rude loud, and I know more about a gentleman's cracking bleeding skin condition than anyone should know! Also why would you bring an Autistic child to a loud crowed environment that clearly put him in distress! I have no clue about Paul's Chop house menu or quality of Food and could care less! Love this place! Been traveling extensively all over the country for work and I have been to literally hundreds of steak houses and for this price point - this place is pretty tough to beat. Don't listen to these bumpkins complaining about their experience not being perfect - it's them. I've eaten here 6-7 times in the last year and every time leave satisfied. The bartenders are great, especially Nicole! Steaks are great as well and their burger slaps. My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary on a Saturday evening. We were waited on quickly and our server was very good at his job. He made sure to space out all the course's of our meal as not to rush us. The fresh baked bread and olive oil was delicious. We had the Caprese salad for an appetizer, it was very fresh tasting. We both had a glass of wine and it was a generous portion. My wife had the 7oz. Filet Mignon and it was cooked just right and was tasty and tender. I had the Veal Marsala , it was tasty but a bit too salty. The portion was very large however. I also had the oven roasted cauliflower with Gouda cheese that was very good. The ambiance in the restaurant was warm and there was a gentleman playing the piano in the bar which added a nice touch. Mine and my husband's go to for special occasions or just a nice dinner out! We have never been disappointed by this place. And with the way fast food has upped their prices, and lowered their standards, I think we're better off paying a bit more for a much better meal. We love the table side Cesar salad with their own house made dressing; the potatoes au gratin is to die for! We absolutely love the chateaubriand! But there are so many other great options. The one and only downside I had was when we threw a rehearsal dinner there for my son and his beautiful bride. I chalked it up to being a misunderstanding (during the end of the epidemic when things were crazy and restaurants were not back to running full staff). Reservations,: Six couples were invited to join us at Luis chophouse in Chesterfield Mi. Cocktails, Appetizers, Entrees, Sides. Desserts. Their service was excellent!!! very pleasant, and efficient was there to ensure that we were all satisfied during the whole evening. The ambience in the back room was OK. Did not expect to sit there, although it was nice to have our own space. A few of the entrées were not what would be expected from Louie's. One of the frog legs were drenched in sauce, but more than covered the bottom of the plate. I had asked for another side plate to take the frog legs out. Perch were the same way. The prime rib, extremely tender, but almost was like mush, The texture was not there. I'm not sure what they did. Desserts somewhere delicious and others were fair. I've had much better tiramisu. I should visit Louis' much more often than I do and I will after my last visit in early March. The one thing about this place is its consistency. No matter how long between visits (I first came here in 2005) I know I will receive the same delicious food I've always enjoyed here. While it took a few minutes for our waitress to come by after we were seated, we learned this was due to a mixup and our waitress apologized profusely and was very attentive for the rest of the evening. I ordered what I always do for dinner, the petite cut prime rib, au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. It was to die for, as always, with generous portions, reasonably priced. We rented one of their private rooms for a Celebration of Life dinner for my dad and the service and food was outstanding! The menu included prime rib, salmon and chicken and people were very impressed with the food. We had not included dessert in our initial menu but they added it when requested and offered multiple items that were very good on a moment's notice. The wait staff here is always kind, considerate and pleasant and they were especially so in this instance. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food and service. I can't say enough good things about Louis' Chop House. The private room is a great place to have a small gathering and I highly recommend Louis' Chop House. read more

Service is outstanding, ambiance could be improved. The red & black back room is charming, the main dining room is... not. It feels like a common family breakfast joint instead of an old school steak house. The piano player in that tiny back room is also very loud - how about moving him into the big room, along with some of the "kitsch" ? As for the meal, the steak was decent but the sides were meh. Not much preparation or presentation for $5 each side. The tableside spinach salad is excellent, would love the option to get a smaller portion. read more

This is a failed attempt at a fine dining steakhouse. If ridiculously oversized portions are your idea of value, then you will love this restaurant. Boxes for leftovers were the norm. Service was stellar and the highlight of the meal. The chicken fettuccine could serve 3 hearty appetites, fried Perch well cooked, sautéed Perch served in a flood of caper gravy that totally detracted from the fish. Pork chops were not tender. Sides were preferred over the mains. Straw onions delicious, roasted cauliflower with smoked Gouda tasty, au gratin potatoes outstanding. Desserts were good. read more

Cold food and poor customer service. If I could give a zero stars I would. I been here plenty of time and service has been good in the past. But, last night I had a server that had no brain. Had to be reminded several times to bring things, asked 5 times for the bill... our bread was cold, our food was cold , and the waiter couldn't remember to alert us that there was no more twice baked potatoes after updating us like 3 times in 11/2 hours the potato was on the way to bring regular potatoes. I still tipped the young man because I felt he may had a memory disconnect. I really felt like a joke was being played on my table the way the waiter would smile and not see that he had a issue with connecting with his customers. Hope things get better for him . Mediocre is the nicest thing I can say about our Valentines dinner today. I'm sure this restaurant was fine dining in its heyday... those days are over. We ordered the crab cakes, coconut shrimp, crab stuffed mushrooms, the "special" twice baked potato, and the scallops entree. The crab cakes were fishy and cooked on a flat top with a cheap cooking spray, the flavor is unmistakable and it was inedible. The coconut shrimp were deep fried in an equally awful cooking oil. That flavor overpowered the flavor of the shrimp. I'm not convinced that the crab stuffed mushrooms were even cooked. The mushrooms were raw!! The crab stuffing looked under cooked, hard to say in the restaurant lighting. I don't know if our food was rushed out, but how do you serve a raw dish? None of the mushrooms were cooked at all, so I'm betting someone just grabbed it and served it up. I love twice baked potatoes, I make them at home. I don't know how a restaurant can screw up something so simple, but this was again, awful. This was cooked (thank goodness), but bland as heck. No seasoning whatsoever. That brings me to the $44 scallops. Don't brag about the size of your scallops when they're so over cooked they've shrunk. The one scallop I ate had an awful, metallic flavor. Again, inedible. My husband ate what he could. I would have chucked all of it in the bin, it was that bad. The high point of the meal was the lobster sauce on the stuffed mushrooms, it brought some flavor to the bland and dry potato. Dessert was good, but how can you screw up crème brûlée?
