Dined at the Lounge Here while in town visiting a friend and really enjoyed it. The space is certainly the kind of ambiance that transports you. It is very dimly lit (noticed a fair amount of people using the flashlights on their phones to read the menu) but nice and cozy. They have quite the menu of cocktails to choose from and a good range of options on the food menu. We had the cheese board to start without the charcuterie and with extra cheese (since we both don't eat meat), which was fairly large for two people but had an impressive and tasty variety. And that says a lot coming from a couple of Wisconsin natives. Due to our larger starting plate, we split the veggie burger. The burger was pretty decent, but the pickles that came with it were the highlight - wish it came with more. And it was really nice that they split it for us, giving us ample fries each and the ease of having our own smaller meals. However, there was a charge for that, which we were not told about in advance. I'm game for paying a split fee, I usually just expect to be given fair warning. I also really appreciated that there menu pointed out that they were able to make many of the items vegetarian. That's the kind of approachability I love in a restaurant. The main thing I didn't like was that our table seemed to be too small for the size of the plates/boards. And our waitress was fairly invasive when trying to navigate the tight space, moving our drinks and plates all over to squeeze in items. I felt like I was constantly in danger of knocking something over. Overall though, I definitely recommend the Lounge Here. It has a great ambiance, good food and is very inviting. read more

This place can certainly boast an eclectic environment that could be appreciated through various occasions/celebrations or even date nights, their food is above standard, but their drink is better, I believe they have potential in the kitchen that has gone unexplored or untapped, so I do expect more in the future from this establishment. The service could be a bit better but I do think this is due to a staffing issue (service staff), because this place is kind of off the beaten path even when it's in plain sight right next to good records! Lounge Here gave us exceptional service and quality food! We booked a reservation on Opentable for the same day. The restaurant wasn't too packed or loud when we walked in and we were quickly seated in a booth near the front of the restaurant. Our server was very friendly, and always nearby if we needed our waters topped off. She gave us fantastic drink recommendations and helped us select entrees. Here's what we ordered: cheese board, mussels, chicken fried ribeye and the halibut. Everything was so good and we left full, but not "fall asleep" full. Decided to splurge and pay another $10 up charge for the grilled ribeye. Ordered it medium, as the chef recommended. It was cooked medium but it was just a really bad cut of meat. Half of it was inedible because it was just fat and gristle. The other half was very tough throughout. I had to spend 30 seconds chewing each bite. I honestly expect a better steak at Applebee's. The audacity to charge extra as if it was a prime cut of meet really ticked me off. I have heard the food is good other times. Stumbled onto this hidden gem and was blown away by the quality of the food. I love eating at high end, expensive restaurants, and this one rivaled the best of them! Generally Shrimp and Grits is a safe bet most places, but here each component was cooked to perfection. I kept waiting for something to fall a little short, but nothing ever did. The portion size is fantastic and I forced myself to only eat half, knowing how much joy the other half would bring me the next day. My companions hamburger was an elevated treat as well. I snuck a few fries and loved them. I will be back for sure, maybe more in the week because it was a bit too lively for my taste during prime weekend hours. Came here after checking out the reviews on Yelp and the food and experience lived up to the hype. Food - we ordered the halibut, shrimp and grits and they were exceptional. The grits were very rich and filling and the halibut was seared perfectly and tender inside. It came with a succotash that had a good mix of veggies and added to the over all flavor. We also ordered the deviled eggs and they were savory vs sweet so it was a nice change from the traditional. Drinks - the craft cocktails were amazing. Tip: ask the servers to describe the cocktails both beginning and ending flavors so that you can pick the right one. Servers - Very hospitable, knowable, and friendly. They really worked hard to make sure we got exactly what we wanted and they didn't rush our dining experience. Decor - from the outside- non-assuming and almost unnoticeable. However once inside it's modern, intimate and comfortable. Loved the vibe of the staff and clientele. Tip: it gets busy on Friday and Saturday so come early if you don't want to wait. We arrived at 6:10 pm on a Friday at this restaurant, that doesn't take reservations, and there was already an hour wait. We understood they didn't take reservations and thus planned to have an early dinner to eliminate wait time. There were at least two tables in the restaurant that could've accommodated our party and we found out they DO take reservations for parties of six or more. We had five. No suggestion from the host to grab drinks at the bar and no place to stand to wait. We were so excited to try this restaurant and left disappointed and scrambling to find a different restaurant to celebrate my husbands birthday. Sucks. read more

This is such a fun little secret and I hope it stays that way! We went on a Thursday night in July. The decor is very nice and reminds me of mad men meets Marfa...we have been wanting to try this place for a long time. We got drinks and an appetizer. The drinks could have been stronger, the goat cheese and crab toast was excellent and the service was great. It's a small place so they only have one toilet for the ladies and I had to wait with 2 people in front of me. They have a little back porch area that looked nice when I peeked out. The service here was the most revolting I have ever experienced. There were plenty open tables in the restaurant for the entire 2 hours we were there yet if you didn't have a reservation the establishment not only were you squeezed into a narrow row of others who didn't make a reservation, you also were treated you as if you were insignificant. This is the most disappointed I have ever been and I have been a long term advocate for this restaurant for so many years through the good and the bad times. I cannot in good conscience no longer recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area unless you know someone who works here. It was a little smaller than what I'm use to getting at some of the other places BUT good! Caesar salad was delicious, the dressing was a bit tangy and I enjoyed it, just different. The loungey vibe was really intimate and swanky. The decor was minimalist which I appreciated. We arrived on Thursday evening around 8:00p to a full house. We put our name on the list and waited at the bar for ~45 minutes. We ordered drinks and appetizers at the bar before moving to a table. The bartenders sported hats which I dug - and were super laid-back and friendly. I had an Old Fashioned and it was perfectly executed. I had a sip of my stepmom's Sage Bramble and approved - it's a unique drink! For appetizers, we had the Deviled Eggs and Pimento Cheese. Both were divine. I felt the hot sauce on the deviled eggs gave a nice kick but was ultimately overpowering. We all loved the pimento cheese! I had the Here Burger as my main and really enjoyed! There were a few too many onions for me but, altogether, it was bomb. My dad and stepmom split the Shrimp and Grits and a side of Cauliflower Hash. I snuck a bite of the hash - great texture on the cauliflower but a little lackluster overall. A spot like this typically earns 5 stars in my book but our waitress was a little off - for lack of better term. She was a bit scatterbrained and solely focused on joking around with one table - BTW, I'm all for jokes and friendship, but at least pay me a little attention please. After our waitress took our order, another waitress asked for our order again which made us think our order hadn't been placed originally. The hubby and I dropped in during their soft open and were really excited to see a cozy, hip bar near our house in Casa Linda. Upon entering, we weren't sure if we had to wait for someone to seat us, so we awkwardly stood at the door for a few minutes before a waitress gave us a seat in a booth. The owners have done a beautiful job with the decor and the ambiance of the lounge, but our visit definitely had a few hiccups. We understood mistakes were to be expected since it was a soft opening, so we hope they improve quickly over time. We had a couple cocktails, but the one that stuck out in my mind is the mint drinks with a cocoa foam (Ideal Stinger). This was one of the best cocktails I've had, and it's such a perfect finish to a meal (or beginning... or during...). The hubby enjoyed his Old Fashioned, but it was just a typical OF. The food menu was limited due to the soft open, so we ordered a cup of soup du jour Lobster (crab?) Bisque that came out luke warm and was not very good. The charcuterie plate was missing a few elements that we didn't bother bringing up to the waitress and had inedible cold toast points. The waitress said nothing else was available, but we saw other tables eating salads and deviled eggs :( I ordered another cocktail, but was informed they were out of a critical ingredient = coconut water. I then asked if the bartender could improvise, but they took that as "improvise a completely new drink instead of subbing in something for coconut water". The drink was a minty refreshing cocktail, but not what I expected. The ambiance was relaxed, but EXTREMELY loud. It seems the hard decorative materials (wood, etc) resonated people's voices and made it almost unbearable. Maybe after a few more drinks I would've ignored this.
