Lounge Here is another East Dallas favorite. We met friends for dinner before Snowmegeddon happened. What makes them unique is their groovy, kitschy design. They've been a great add to the hood for a long time. The food is solid and they know how to cocktail. The menu changes each season as the bartenders come up with interesting creations. Their execution is really good and we're lucky to have them. I had two nice cocktails. Their Espresso Martini and Vieux Carre were perfect for a cold night. Everyone makes an Espresso Martini these days, but they can be hit or miss. It was the perfect balance of coffee, slightly sweet and frothy. Well done!! If you haven't had a Vieux Carre (photo 4) you should. It's a classic boozy rye cocktail with cognac, Benedictine, sweet vermouth, Peychauds and Angostura bitters. This boozy masterpiece is a classic New Orleans recipe named after the French Quarter ("old square") and created in the late 1930s by Walter Bergeron at the Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar. The delicious ingredients symbolize the diverse cultures of the French Quarter. Its well-documented origin story and rich flavor profile make it a classic staple of cocktail history. Go enjoy the fantastic service and quality at Lounge Here next time you're for a groovy evening. Salute @thejohnnycocktail #cocktails #cocktailphotography #neworleans Vieux Carre 3/4 oz. Rye 3/4 oz. Enjoyed celebrating a friend's Birthday dinner. Nice bar area with good Happy Hour. Food was delicious and cooked to Order fresh, a nice variety on the menu. Great service

My husband and I came in here after an evening at the arboretum and really enjoyed the experience! We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting Will. He was super helpful and patient as we had never been before! He recommended an off menu special of chicken wrapped in prosciutto on a bed of mashed potatoes with Asparagus and it was good!! We also really enjoyed the laid back but sophisticated atmosphere, it seemed like a great spot for a date or a dinner with a small group of friends. It's a smaller spot so I'd think a party of like 6+ check to see reservations.

Excellent vibes. Incredible, welcoming service. Good food. I wanted a little more out of the final product for each dish. Proteins were a little dryer and over seasoned, but maybe it was an off night!' Nothing at all was bad. Everything was good. But none of the food matched the excellence of the vibe and service.

Derby - 3/5 Scarlet - 3/5 Deviled Eggs - 4/5 Steak Frites - 3/5 Linguini Pasta - 3/5 Service was fantastic, a friendly and attentive waiter. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or dinner night friends. It is close and intimate, and even when full isn't too loud that you need to strain to hear. The food was decent overall. The steak was cooked medium but some parts of it came out more chewy than others. It also felt a bit over salted. The fries were tasty though some came out soggy while others came out crunchy. The pasta tasted alright. The drinks were about the same, good enough but not good enough to warrant another one.

The Lounge Here has an upscale 70s feel to it without being pretentious. It has been an East Dallas staple for several years now and we're making a point to consciously and intentionally frequent restaurants in our immediate area to keep the character of our neighborhood alive. We grabbed a couple of appetizers and settled in with some drinks, a steamy, boozy chai drink for me and as always for my husband a whiskey, neat. He had the same for round two but I decided to try something different, their cocktails have quirky names and mine was a Pear-odactyl. A martini style cocktail with pear liqueur, lime and I don't recall the other ingredients but it was delicious and I highly recommend it. We can't wait to come back and try their actual entrees but whether you live in the area or have to make the drive across town Lounge Here is definitely worth the visit, I promise you'll love it.

The good: atmosphere was swanky (and honestly surprising), the food was great--we loved the fries and the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce, and the service wasn't bad. The bad: the parking is very limited and honestly annoying. There aren't many spots and most specifically call out other places to park....if we come again, we will likely uber. Second frustration--we came on a weeknight around 5:45 with 7-8 open booths and requested one. I didn't think I needed to make a reservation, since it was a random week night and nothing special going on. The hostess said that they were all reserved....I mentioned it was our first visit there and if really all of the books were guaranteed for those guests. She paused and said she wasn't sure if many some won't show up...this was honestly ridiculous. I've literally been a hostess and with that many booths -- you can accommodate at least a few walk in parties that are there and save a few for reservations that prefer booths. The most annoying thing is that there were consistently 3 or more booths open the entire time we were there. My guest and I were quite annoyed. Not a good policy. The ugly: parking once again...I feel like some of the further away parking as sketchy and ran the risk of it being towed. I would recommend they consider valet or adding specific spots for Lounge Here

That's not where the differences stop as the Archive menu provides more traditional cocktails and a diverse array to choose from, with drinks you may be more familiar with. Alchemy on the other hand offers a more experimental approach to their drink menu, including creative cocktails that seem eclectic and never been tried before, using unusual ingredients or prepared in a unique way, but if you are feeling adventurous, I'd highly recommend trying the latter. Keep in mind, when entering Alchemy, the inside is very dark so if you want to see properly I would recommend sitting outside if it isn't too hot. To start, my friends and I ordered the truffle fries for the table and they were highly ranked in my opinion for best truffle fries in Dallas. They were perfectly crispy and flavored well with the truffle seasoning. For drinks, from the alchemy menu, we ordered the I Dream of Kiwi (my choice), Kaleidoscope Eyes, and Inappropriate Beet Pun. My drink was made up of bamboo tea gin, kiwi coconut water, plum wine, and kiwi boba. I liked the sweetness mixed with tartness and the boba balls added a nice touch. Additionally we ordered the pineapple soft serve margaritas (it was my first time experiencing soft serve margs) and I really enjoyed Apothecary's version. The pineapple flavor was tangy alongside the creaminess of the ice cream. And there was a nice chili salt garnish (similar to tajin) added on top. For food, I ordered the Lil' Thuggies, a hilarious name for a dish that is actually very delicious. It consisted of popcorn chicken nuggets, cooked in sweet tea brine and spiced flour, served with a side of epazote ranch and korean wing sauce respectively. My friends ordered the Japanese elotes and Muhammara (roasted red pepper & walnut spread, greek oil, sea salt, microgreens, grilled baguette). Both very tasty as well, with the elotes having a cream sauce on top. Overall I can't wait to go back to apothecary and maybe try the other side next time.

Ordered a couple "Over the Counter" cocktails - frozen pineapple margarita and an old fashioned. Happy hour also included a lot of food options so we chose to just order a bunch off of that - Icelandic Hotdog, Caviar Chip (both bite sized), oysters, beef cheek tacos, and a caesar salad and burger to split. Was more than enough! We also tried the frozen Irish Coffee and Horseplay (horseradish agua fresca) and then went for our second reservation at Alchemy. Alchemy is more experimental. Here we tried a kimchi based cocktail and the sauerkraut cake. Food and drinks were all phenomenal and the atmosphere of both bars was moody and elegant. Definitely plan to come back to try more drinks! All wait staff were very friendly and the owner even stopped by to chat with us.

Thankfully, as we were dining after 6pm, the dining rooms were not SRO, nor were their guests on the patio, or we certainly would not put upon the kitchen crew the adjustments. The setting and space of McRae's is refreshingly unique, cozy and welcoming. Dress up or down, you'll always feel welcome. And the previous times we have dined there, , the food is always prepared with attention, servings generous and the taste is superb. The creme brûlée? Truly, "tres magnifique." With a covered patio, McRae's is ready for any weather conditions in Dallas. There is also a full bar, and our wine pours were not stingy. You are treated like family as a stranger. Be ready to be among people who want to know you. I guess I fit as some there knew my friends from other dive bars. I never realized how small the Dallas Dive bar world was. I have some cool friends. The music is good on the video jukebox. The tears came to my eyes as a few post 9/11 patriotic songs were played (I bleed Army green and so did some that didn't return home to their moms intact.) Glad none there saw my eyes or noticed my toast to my memories. The couple dancing on the next song made me feel more at home. Good thing a good 2 step or waltz never played or I might have had to find a partner. The decor is somewhat Green Bay Packer-ish. Okay, a lot of Green Bay love in the decor. Heh, yes, I still carry a grudge from the 1967 Ice Bowl as a life long Cowboy fan should! But, I respect a bar owner who has actual stock in his/her team and displays it proudly!
