This is an extra special review, as now Lou's will forever have a special place in our hearts. I planned my Stepfather's celebration of life here back in May and while this is not the type of event that I ever hoped I would have to plan, Kelli made it easy (during a very hard time), logistically seamless, and everything was absolutely perfect. Their event space is GORGEOUS! Beautiful sunset views of the golf course and Papago mountains, a sprawling lawn, and indoor/outdoor vibes with garage doors that open to the lawn. We couldn't think of a better/more beautiful setting to celebrate my sweet stepfather's life. During the planning phase (mind you, we had 10 days to pull this together), Kelli worked with us to tailor a food/cocktail menu that was within our budget and reminded us of my stepfather (i.e. tray passing his favorite beer/cocktail, including some of his favorite food items, etc.) They had a screen for our slideshow/music/video, microphone for speakers, podium, you name it, they had it. The staff was beyond helpful when we were setting up and ensured we had everything that we needed. I would recommend this space a million times over for any special event! Kelli and the entire event team at Lou's were absolutely incredible, the food and drink were fabulous and plentiful, the staff smiled the entire time, and everyone made our experience one to remember forever. My favorite hidden gem restaraunt with some of the best views! Their food is really so delicious and the setting is wonderful. The waitresses are also super friendly! I really eat here often and have yet to have a bad meal. They also just updated their menu and added alot of great stuff like the mushroom pizza below. Their pizza is amazing, the chili is to die for, I love their sandwiches, apps, all of it! I think my only complaints I've ever had were that they don't pay attention to the TVs so it may take a couple tries if you want like the sports games on (NBA finals for example) and the water tasted a bit off last time but those things would never deter me from going. read more

If it weren't for my last experience here, I'd give a solid 4 stars (4 1/2, if I could). In all honesty, the best thing about Lou's is the scenery and the vibe. If you have kids, there's a huge (enclosed) grass area to let them run and play (which doesn't mean you get time off to drink instead of parent...). The elevated location below the Papago Buttes at Papago Golf Course provides beautiful views down to the airport and downtown Phoenix. Hands-down has to be one of the best sunset spots in the Valley. The views and outdoor areas make Lou's special. In all our prior visits, the food - from breakfast through lunch - have been good - at times, even real good. The bar is unfortunately too small to accommodate the pre- and post-round golfers AND diners, so if you're looking to sit and hang at the bar, good luck. If you can secure an Adirondack chair out on the grass, though, you struck gold (just don't count on regular wait service and be prepared to go back-and-forth to the bar). And just a warning - Papago Golf Club is a gem and ALWAYS booked...parking is limited, so arrive well in advance of your reservation and hope you don't have to make too many laps to find a space. Now, you can see I'm a fan, and I really don't want to throw the baby out with the bathwater here, but we had a party of six 2 weeks ago - noon on Sunday. Sat immediately, which was a bit surprising as I called to make a reservation on Wednesday and was told they weren't taking any more. The reason became pretty obvious once we were seated - pretty serious staffing issues - and I never looked into the kitchen to see how under-staffed they were there. 20 minutes before we saw a waitress - 20 more before 5 beers were delivered to the table. 30 minutes after we were seated, we ordered food - 50 (FIFTY) minutes later (FIFTY), our food arrived. All cold - basically inedible. Thank God at least the fries were good (and hot). As stated, this was clearly a staffing problem. What chapped me most, though, was ZERO acknowledgment or apologies for the wait in being serviced, the wait for food or drinks...no one (including the waitress) saying, "I'm sorry...we're slammed and under-staffed," or anything to help appease our growing frustration. I know the industry has labor issues...getting people in your establishment is one challenge, and staffing with good, reliable wait and cook staff is always another. I get it. But you need to figure it out. This place has the chance to be an iconic destination spot - and the traffic you've seen since the remodel proves that out. But if this is the experience we should expect as the norm, I'll pass on the "ok" food and amazing views and vibe. Tons of promise if you can fix your issues...we'll be back with our fingers crossed that you can figure it out. read more

We were at Lou's on a VERY busy night (last night) with lots of large groups and tables reserved. We reserved a table on the patio for 4:45 before going to ZooLights. Melanie was swamped and yet calm, efficient, and kind. We did have a wait, but expected with the large crowd. The grandkids loved playing on the grass and running around. The food we ordered was a variety of menu items and all good and cooked to our liking. It was lovely to watch the sunset and the outdoor heaters were a bonus. We definitely would return! I think my favorite thing about Lou's is the ambience. Excellent patio space with views of Papago. We had an amazing experience today!! The bartender Evan, made my daughters day with a small gesture, the golf attendant Alex did a classy gesture as well for us as well to encourage the new generation to get into golf, the server Alex gave me a great recommendation on the pork enchiladas that were 10/10 (shout-out kitchen staff) and the asst manager Ben came through to make sure everything is running smooth! Thought this place was so awesome for a large group! It right on the golf course, which ain't my main draw by any means, but it had a great view of the mountains and lots of space for the kiddos to run around in the green grassy area. They had a one man band who was pretty good. Drinks were good and they had a few misters to help keep it cool. I didn't order any food, but my friends did and they all thought it was good. I give it 5 star all around. We went on a weekend, but I hear they have good happy hour during the week so I wouldn't mind coming back to try it out. read more

Stumbled on this beautiful place when going to the botanical gardens. Was skeptical of it being on a golf course because it's def not our normal choice for eating (def NOT golfers lol) but I as pleasantly surprised by our overall experience! I had the Cobb salad without the normal corn and ranch dressing , sub extra blue cheese instead. My daughter had the kid's hamburger and fries. My salad was absolutely DELICIOUS! The ingredients were so obviously fresh, dressing was also so good! To me, it was reasonably priced at 14$ considering how fresh it was. Daughter loved her burger but did wish there was a little more fries to her meal but for $8 I didn't expect more in any way. Waitress was nice and accommodated us when we wanted to move to a warmer spot in the sun. Outside dining is set up wonderfully with a beautiful, scenic , view on almost all sides! We had a group of 7 girls that golfed then were hanging out, having a few drinks, etc. then got told to leave as a group of 6 (much drunker) men came in, were speaking vulgarly and were served just fine. Husband wanted poutine for his birthday in August. So off I go to research where I can find it by the house. Now I wish he wanted poutine for Valentine's day. Lol I called in and ordered to go and we got the poutine, the French dip ( husbands favorite sandwich ), and the sweet potato and green chili corn chowder. Sweet potato casserole. Sweet potato pie. Candied sweet potatoes. These two items were what kept bringing us back every other week. It's the views for me! Wowzer! This is such a beautiful place to come hang out. We did a quick hike at Papago and then came to eat here. The service was really good. They are super friendly. We sat outside and had champagne and brunch. I had the steak skillet and it was yummy. It has great flavor and I enjoyed it. We watched people golf and kids play in the grass while we ate and drank. so many amazing things i could say about this place. from the food, to the service. i had a sweet girl named hannah as my server. she was extremely attentive with my big family of six. she was willing to answer any questions we had and was an extremely quick server. we got our drinks right after we ordered, and she gave great recommendations. she suggested the french dip and adding swiss was a great addition to my meal. definitely recommend coming here and getting the french dip and a frozen eve rita which is their frozen margarita. definitely coming again! read more

The driving range was in use by an event this Sunday so I found myself with two friends at this lovely place surrounded by lovely views of the golf course and the Papago Buttes. There is LOTS of patio space here (great for Covid concerns) and the service is attentive and gracious. My friends snacked on small bowls of chili and indicated that the food was great. I was greeted at the door by the same server I had and her name was Hannah, sweet blonde who was outstanding! She was very attentive, quick, and gave great suggestions on the menu.
