    Overall dark and dim setting
    Amber S.

We use to frequent this location but it's been about a year since we came in. Unfortunately it has really gone down hill. It use to be this bright vibrant spot that was full and known for good sushi at good prices. The sushi itself is fair, definitely not the quality it used to be-but more importantly the atmosphere is a bit of a dump. From broken door jams, to dirty items on the walls, to holes in the bathroom from items falling off (soap dispenser, maybe paper towel dispenser too). It's dark and just not the vibrant place it used to be. We were a party of 6 and the table size was so tiny we could barely fit in the booth. Service was quick but definitely would choose a little nicer spot in the future.

I would give this place a one star but I have to admit the waitress was very friendly and detailed. I love Love Sushi at the marketplace and on Mt. Vernon but this location is terrible. After my boyfriend and I had a long day of daily duties on our day off we decided to have dinner here and this place is just not the business. The indoor vibe is different, too many lights not vibe for having for having sushi for dinner. Second there was no complimentary edamame but their water was clean tasting. Third there was no tofu in the miso soup. Fourth the soup and rolls came out at the same time. I was so confused by the look and taste of the rolls but we were starving. This is were the waitress comes in she said even though they are a franchise the owners make rolls definitely and I did investigate and she was correct, either way it is just not it. The rice is hard, felt like it was old rice/day before rice. The avocado wasn't there on the dragon roll and there was barely any crunch. The taste was a little weird as like it was fishy but like I said we were starving. My bf also ordered seared tuna, I didn't get a picture but it looked like jerky on hard rice. The complimentary candy at the end made my bf yuck so I wasn't about to taste it. Maybe we got the leftovers or maybe food is different during lunch but I was expecting what google shows 9 yrs ago. To finalize this review I will not be having sushi here again.

Came for dinner and had the chicken teriyaki plate. The serving was very filling as it all came on a skillet with soup salad and rice. Service is very fast and every worker is so friendly.

    Where's the avocado?

Hate to add this negative review because this place used to be my favorite sushi spot and we used to frequent this place. I haven't been here in years but was craving their white love roll and sesame chicken. I paid $17 for a glorified California roll. I barely, barely had any avocado and to top it off, they made it wrong by topping the sushi with a mango sauce. The mango sauce didn't pair well at all and my appetite was ruined. I didn't want to take it back because who wants to drive back to the restaurant when you're starving? And the sesame chicken? It was okay. It was way too sweet because it was drenched in teriyaki sauce. $31 wasted.

Love sushi is always amazing and fresh! I had the hand rolled spicy tuna and bulgogi lunch. Spicy tuna had good flavor with a little kick.

The wife had been wanting to try this place for a while and we happened to be in the area, so why not. I tried the Snow Coco Roll and it was ok. It was fresh and made to order but there was just something missing. Our server was new and was oblivious to gluten and gluten free offerings. Even after we discussed it with her she proceeded to let us order a dish that contained gluten but didn't show the gluten ingredient in the menu for that particular item. They were very nice once we brought it to their attention and removed it from our tab since we could not eat it.

Uber eats cancellation charge and reason for charge.

On November 27, 2024, I placed an order through Uber Eats. I arrived at the location to pick up my order and the staff was confused because they did not know about the order. I showed them my phone and told them I bought a lunch special and a salmon roll. One of the older women found the receipt and said they couldn't fulfill the order because it was not lunch time. I was a little annoyed because there were no times indicating was classified as dinner and what was lunch, but no big deal. I told them I would cancel through uber eats and placed an order in store. I paid them in store and went on my way. Checking my email, I see that I was ALSO charged through uber eats because the reason was "Love Sushi (Coffee Rd) had already started your order, so you were charged for the food." This was a lie. Love Sushi not only was paid for an order that I paid them in store for but ALSO paid through Uber Eats. I was unable to dispute the charge because it was past Uber's 48 hour policy on cancelled orders because they had already paid their merchants. Should have I been monitoring my emails more closely, maybe. BUT why would I think there would be an issue when I was told they couldn't fulfil the order AND they didn't even know about it until I showed up??? So not only did Love Sushi receive money from me in store, but also through Uber Eats. This is a super shady business tactic and I will never be returning after this experience. Do not order from them because they are double dipping from their customers pockets.

Did we come in 40 minutes before closing. Yes. But that's doesn't excuse messing up the order & not giving you all that your meal offers. & there maybe a pregnant mama who's excited for a specific thing. 1. We ordered a specific bento box. Not only did they give us the incorrect one, but also left out the tempera which was what i was looking forward for most. 2. Ordered a roll that was so small & so sad. Coming in so late I didn't even want to mention the mess up. I do believe that shouldn't mess up the quality & efficiency of service *side note we did tell them & they were kind enough to send us home with the correct meat.

My husband and I love coming here. The food is delicious, and when you come in they'll give you a sample of something they're making and a small plate of edamame. The waitresses are kind and friendly, and the ambiance is nice. We've never had a bad experience here. I definitely recommend coming for a date night.

Not in photos: Water with Lemon, Dr. Pepper and Edamame First Photo: Gyoza Dumplings Second Photo: (Bottom to Top) Sushi Pizza, BSCR Roll and a Los Vegas Roll My Thoughts- all of it was super delicious and most of it was new to me I love trying new things and they did not disappoint. The sushi pizza had a little bit of a kick but not too bad and was so good. The BSCR Roll is great for anyone who likes scallops luckily I do. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It wasn't very busy in there lots of open space. Everything was easy to understand would definitely go back. The bathrooms could use a little bit of maintenance but other than that it's a great place.

Tuna roll, with next to no fish.

One thing I noticed was the mix of different tables and chairs throughout the restaurant. It almost feels like a hodgepodge of furniture, but somehow it works and fits the contemporary vibe rather than feeling out of place. The food was excellent, the service was friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. We received our food surprisingly fast, which was a nice bonus. There was a mistake with one of our rolls, but the staff handled it well. They quickly remade the roll and brought us a replacement at no charge, which I really appreciated. One of the highlights was a custom roll with jalapeño, avocado, and asparagus. I added cream cheese and had it deep fried, and it honestly tasted like a sushi version of a jalapeño popper. It was absolutely amazing and something I would order again in a heartbeat. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Good food, good service, reasonable prices, and a unique atmosphere. I would definitely recommend giving Kuma Sushi a try.

The parking is a bit of a challenge right now due to the construction in downtown. However, there is a lot right next to them that you can park in and there is also parking on the street directly in front of their door. The restaurant is modern and decorated in Asian theme. The bathroom and the restaurant is very clean. And the staff was very attentive, professional, and very pleasant. I enjoyed the food I ordered via DoorDash, but this time I got it fresh right out of the kitchen and the counter, and it was amazing. We started with the jalapeño bomb, and mixed tempura in a size small. Both those appetizers were delicious and perfect for sharing. Then we ordered a California roll on soy paper, the Kuma special sushi roll, and the creamy salmon roll. Everything was fresh and very shareable. We could've easily shared our meal with two other people needless to say we had leftovers to take home. I definitely recommend this place and I look forward to going back. There are other things on the menu such as fried rice, udon, and teriyaki plates. They also had a couple of desserts, so I am definitely planning on trying one of those. Enjoy!

We had dinner here and it was both of our first-time. I really hate that I have to give this place a 4 but it's because the spicy edamame was not to my liking and they do not carry pineapple soju. The food is definitely a must try, especially the beautiful yellowtail sashimi. The seafood yakisoba was so delicious. I did not care much for the baked salmon roll, Love Sushi takes first place for that roll and Prime Sushi take first place for spicy edamame. The crazy tuna roll I ordered was so big! The crunchy pieces on top can stand to sit in some absorbing paper towels because they were a bit oily but went well with the Tuna dance. I personally did not care for the bluefin tuna. Overall my babe and I enjoyed our dinner and will most definitely return for more.

I'm glad we did, because it gave us a whole new feel for the place. Inside isn't massive, but it's not cramped either. Think of it like the Goldilocks of restaurant spaces: just right. The vibe leans calm and cozy, dim lighting, black walls, and splashes of color here and there. It's got that "peaceful sushi zen" atmosphere without being boring. Our waitress deserves a medal (or at least an extra roll on the house). She was the only one working the floor, yet somehow managed to be friendly, attentive, and efficient all at once. Multitasking level: expert. Now onto the food, which is really why we came back. We ordered a spread: two teriyaki chicken plates, one chicken ramen bowl, an order of sushi crunch rolls, egg rolls, a large pineapple sake, a beer, and two iced teas. (Yes, we came hungry. Don't judge.) Everything came out quickly, hot, and fresh. The chicken was juicy, the rice perfectly cooked, and the little bed of veggies under the teriyaki chicken was tender-crispy and surprisingly addictive. Whoever thought of tucking those under there deserves a raise. The ramen had bold flavors that hit the spot, and the sushi rolls lived up to their name, they really were crunchy and delicious. Now, the egg rolls. Let me tell you, these might just be the best I've ever had. Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and stuffed with flavor on the inside. The kind that makes you regret ordering only one plate. Drinks? The beer was cold (and surprisingly affordable), the iced teas were strong and refreshing, and the pineapple sake... well, it was different, let's just say it's not everyone's cup of tea. Personally, I'll stick to tequila, lol, but my husband happily claimed the sake as his new favorite. Win-win. Prices here are fair and budget-friendly, which is always nice to see at a sushi spot. The place was clean and well-kept, and I'm happy to say it still holds up just as well as when I ordered takeout years ago. Bottom line: Shoyu Sushi is still doing its thing, fresh food, good prices, relaxing vibe, and service that makes you feel taken care of. If you want sushi that crunches, teriyaki that comforts, and egg rolls that just might ruin all other egg rolls for you, this is the spot.
