I ordered two hand rolls, the Love Special & the Happy Roll. Both of which were tasty, fresh & huge! They were served on a fun plate that looked like a pool of water with a shark in it! One detail of note that I think is important is they have reusable chopsticks. One use chopsticks are a huge contributor to landfills, tons of them are thrown away a year, so I'm impressed that they have the reusable chopsticks here. This place reminds me of what Sushi bars were like back in the 1980's. So full of personality. I'm definitely coming back when it's busier to check out the energy of this unique sushi bar. We don't come here often but, every time we do we are happy with the food and service. The staff we've had are friendly, the chefs are fun. It's not a huge place and it's showing its age. It's due for some decor updates. If you want an east going low key sushi spot- try them out. read more

We use to frequent this location but it's been about a year since we came in. Unfortunately it has really gone down hill. It use to be this bright vibrant spot that was full and known for good sushi at good prices. The sushi itself is fair, definitely not the quality it used to be-but more importantly the atmosphere is a bit of a dump. From broken door jams, to dirty items on the walls, to holes in the bathroom from items falling off (soap dispenser, maybe paper towel dispenser too). It's dark and just not the vibrant place it used to be. We were a party of 6 and the table size was so tiny we could barely fit in the booth. I would give this place a one star but I have to admit the waitress was very friendly and detailed. I love Love Sushi at the marketplace and on Mt. Vernon but this location is terrible. After my boyfriend and I had a long day of daily duties on our day off we decided to have dinner here and this place is just not the business. The indoor vibe is different, too many lights not vibe for having for having sushi for dinner. Second there was no complimentary edamame but their water was clean tasting. Third there was no tofu in the miso soup. Fourth the soup and rolls came out at the same time. I was so confused by the look and taste of the rolls but we were starving. This is were the waitress comes in she said even though they are a franchise the owners make rolls definitely and I did investigate and she was correct, either way it is just not it. The rice is hard, felt like it was old rice/day before rice. The avocado wasn't there on the dragon roll and there was barely any crunch. The taste was a little weird as like it was fishy but like I said we were starving. My bf also ordered seared tuna, I didn't get a picture but it looked like jerky on hard rice. The complimentary candy at the end made my bf yuck so I wasn't about to taste it. Maybe we got the leftovers or maybe food is different during lunch but I was expecting what google shows 9 yrs ago. Recently visited this location several times and had a horrible experience. This was where I took my significant other for our first date so this location is somewhere we frequent often for date nights and etc. and is very meaningful and unfortunately we will not be returning. The sushi chef is also the owner. She is very dismissive and does not pay attention to details. We have asked several times on our last visits for modifications to our order it has repeatedly been incorrect. We pay extra charge for the extras we ask for and do not receive it. If this was a one time thing then I understand but this has happened over and over again. We spend close to $100 on food every-time we come and tip very well and this service in return has been absolutely unacceptable. It's not that hard to read a ticket and take care of your customers request especially because they are never very busy and you should want to keep the repeat customers you do have. On top of the multiple incorrect orders they cut the chicken and rice portion to barely enough for one person when it use to be a big to go box full which for the high price was worth it but not for a fraction of the amount for the same cost. This is so disappointing because of the memory we have at this spot has been ruined by poor service. Poor food expectations and poor management. Hire a sushi chef that knows what they are doing. As for the servers they are the best part of this establishment. Every encounter with them has been pleasant and I hope the tips I leave are going directly to them and not the owner. Do better so we can return. Make orders correctly. Actually add a good portion of extras that people are paying for. And return your portion of fried rice back to its original for that high price. read more

Manager/ sushi chef has a DOG behind the sushi bar and sitting in booths, Sushi chef is incredibly rude to servers, the place is a dump with random pictures and magazine cut outs on the wall, food is disgusting and overpriced. Tips mainly go to managers not servers! Other reviews say theyve been made sick from this place, went downhill after new manager started, she is so rude and disrespectful and unsanitary. Hate to add this negative review because this place used to be my favorite sushi spot and we used to frequent this place. I haven't been here in years but was craving their white love roll and sesame chicken. I paid $17 for a glorified California roll. I barely, barely had any avocado and to top it off, they made it wrong by topping the sushi with a mango sauce. The mango sauce didn't pair well at all and my appetite was ruined. I didn't want to take it back because who wants to drive back to the restaurant when you're starving? And the sesame chicken? It was okay. One of our stable restaurants that we love to go to especially for sushi. This location of love sushi has always been a restaurant in a common area that we like to go to. We have noticed that it is not always packed, which is great cause we get to sit down immediately get our service and within an hour able to leave it is underrated as far as people are coming and I hope Mohr find this restaurant so it does not close down. I forgot to take pictures on this visit but we got there right before 5pm and it was dead. Since we were the only one in the restaurant it was pretty quiet. We were greeted right away and sat where we wanted. We ordered the rainbow sushi roll, gyoza, tempura shrimp and vegetables and the shrimp tempura crunch roll on soy paper. My husband wanted his rainbow roll spicy and boy was it spicy. He couldn't eat it. I ordered the shrimp tempura crunch roll and it was good. I felt like it was missing something. The gyoza and shrimp tempura and vegetables were really good too. On a side note if you want something spicy 1st ask what they put to make it spicy. If it's sriracha or some kind of oil. If they use the oil and you can handle the heat then go for it. If not then just stay with the sriracha. Overall our visit was great. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. read more

The wife had been wanting to try this place for a while and we happened to be in the area, so why not. I tried the Snow Coco Roll and it was ok. It was fresh and made to order but there was just something missing. Our server was new and was oblivious to gluten and gluten free offerings. Even after we discussed it with her she proceeded to let us order a dish that contained gluten but didn't show the gluten ingredient in the menu for that particular item. On November 27, 2024, I placed an order through Uber Eats. I arrived at the location to pick up my order and the staff was confused because they did not know about the order. I showed them my phone and told them I bought a lunch special and a salmon roll. One of the older women found the receipt and said they couldn't fulfill the order because it was not lunch time. I was a little annoyed because there were no times indicating was classified as dinner and what was lunch, but no big deal. I told them I would cancel through uber eats and placed an order in store. I paid them in store and went on my way. Checking my email, I see that I was ALSO charged through uber eats because the reason was "Love Sushi (Coffee Rd) had already started your order, so you were charged for the food." This was a lie. Love Sushi not only was paid for an order that I paid them in store for but ALSO paid through Uber Eats. I was unable to dispute the charge because it was past Uber's 48 hour policy on cancelled orders because they had already paid their merchants. Should have I been monitoring my emails more closely, maybe. BUT why would I think there would be an issue when I was told they couldn't fulfil the order AND they didn't even know about it until I showed up??? So not only did Love Sushi receive money from me in store, but also through Uber Eats. This is a super shady business tactic and I will never be returning after this experience. The worst customer service I've had in a long time and I promise I'll never go back. My husband ordered two rolls and a side order of spicy garlic edamame. I went inside, told the waitress I was there to pick up and order and gave her my husbands name. She brought out the food and I paid for it. As we are driving home (approximately10 minutes after picking up our food) we get a call from the waitress at love sushi telling me that I had to go back because I "got the wrong food". I mentioned to her that I got the food she gave me and I confirmed my husbands name for the order with her. The waitress started arguing with me and telling me that I told her the wrong name and blamed me for taking the food. She raised her voice, was very unprofessional, and didn't even apologize for the inconvenience. Upon arriving there with the food that they requested, I realized that they also overcharged me by $5, but when I confronted them about the errors, they only gave me $1.08. I was not going to be petty and argue over $4, but I was extremely disappointed in their service, lack of professionalism and there was no effort to compensate for their errors and for the inconvenience they caused me. There was no accountability. On top of that, once I got home, I realized that my order was also inaccurate!! Ugh!! Never again will I go to this place. After reading some of the other reviews, it seems like other people have had similar experiences. No wonder the place is always dead. Maybe they need to train their people to have better customer service or at least not to blame customers for their mistakes and take accountability. read more

My husband and I love coming here. The food is delicious, and when you come in they'll give you a sample of something they're making and a small plate of edamame. Our party of 4 adults and 3 kids walked in to an EMPTY restaurant, wanting to enjoy each other's company and have a few rolls, but was greeted by one of the rudest waitresses we've ever come across. She initially sat us down and I wanted to put in an order of the hamachi collar right away as I know it takes some time to cook, but she rudely tells me before I can even finish my sentence "we don't have any!". Oookay... strike one. So we just order some sake and Sapporo. She comes back and asked if two glasses were enough, knowing very well there were FOUR adults so she walks away with an attitude to grab the additional glasses. Strike two. We were contemplating leaving because customer service is everything. She was ruining our time with her attitude, but decided to stick it out. We finished our complimentary edamame and the kids wanted more so we asked for another serving. That's when we heard the loudest, most "you're inconveniencing me" sigh and eye roll come out of her. Strike three. And that's when we decided that we would not be dining there and left. She may have been having a bad day. Maybe something was going on in her personal life that put her in that mood, but we did nothing to her and did not deserve the awful service we got. I've been coming here for years and have finally started to try the sushi itself (not the roll). It is delicious! I love the salmon. I usually get Sesame Chicken for my fiancée as she doesn't really enjoy seafood. It is normally good! This time, however, it was not. Where it is normally saucy and covered in a glaze, it arrived to us this time looking like hash browns covered in ketchup.
