After two days in a row of deliciously comforting lunches here, I can sadly say I've not found its rival in any vegan restaurant (or non vegan sandwich place either for that matter) across the country. Day one I enjoyed the cheesy quinoa sandwich, which stayed perfectly together as if by miracle and was not messy in the least. Day two yummy chunky bbq bun. I love to go to a place and know i can order ANYTHING off the menu and it will be vegetarian/vegan! So I appreciate this place very much. But they were out of the yaki soba so I had to get a different noodle, and it was fried into one big clump that was difficult to pull apart. The flavors were good, the protein strips were great, it just wasn't a great meal. There's also no table service, so you have to order at the counter, and it's just not charming or cozy. Let's just say this restaurant is the best vegan food in the entire state of Indiana! I first found out about this place from my lovely mother who lives in Ft Wayne. I Drive all the way from indy to eat here. The atmosphere is lovely and bright along with the employees. The food is fresh and delicious. If I could give 6 stars, I would! This place is wonderful, and it makes me upset that we don't have a Loving Cafe at home. The decor is vibrant, and bright. It is a small space within a newer strip mall setting. I was kind of scared walking up to the door, seeing the spring greens peering back at me, that this was going to be a manufactured veg spot, like Moaz or Zen Burger...but it's not. The menu is Asian based, with the majority of the dishes being adaptations of classic Chinese and Malaysian meals, using all vegan ingredients. They had a few non Asian dishes, which I had decided I was intent on trying, since I do veg Asian all the time. The panini and soup combo was suggested to me, and so it was. I also got a veg chicken spring roll (Vietnamese style), a blueberry smoothie (cashew, agave, etc), and a pineapple cupcake...hey, I was hungry, don't judge me! Food came out promplty, and I cannot express how delicious it was...the sandwich had smoked veg turkey, slaw, vegan cheese, and avacado. The bread was only called "special bread", and tasted of sourdough. The soup was sweet potato, lentil, curry awesomeness. The spring roll was great, tons of veggies rather than rice noodle filler. It wad served with a peanut-soy sauce, was laden with cilantro...which I love. The cupcake was light, and fluffy...unlike most vegan cookie/cakes I make at home, with a decedant cream icing. I really over ordered, but I come across good vegan joints very rarely in the Midwest, so I took advatage. The place is family run and operated, and they take great pride in their food and philosophies. I loved seeing the kids running around, and helping when they could. A bit of warning...the philosophies of Loving Cafe could be a bit much for some. They follow the beliefs of Supreme Master Ching Hai, which I have seen at other Asian vegan spots, mostly in NYC and CA (Vegetarian House in San Jose for example). It is a religious based vegan ideal, and can get as annoying/militant as Greenpeace or PETA...ok, not really ;) They do play Supreme Master TV in the restaurant though, which is a constant influx of vegan ideals and lecturing. The program also shows some unpleasant images with regards to animal processing. It could turn some off, but keep your back to the TV, your mouth shut and enjoy the great food! How I wish we had this place in Indianapolis. We've driven from Indy to Fort Wayne several times to eat here. I'm sure the employees must think we're crazy as much food as we buy, but they are the only all vegan restaurant I'm aware of in Indiana, and they are super yummy with reasonable prices. Visited the Loving Cafe on a recent visit to Ft Wayne. There were some definite hits and one item that fell short. On the positive side, the Blueberry Bliss smoothie was greatly enjoyed by my niece. I had a sip, and it's creamy blueberry taste had me wishing I had ordered one myself. Three of us had Asian dishes, and all three were tasty and more than filing. I especially enjoyed the Crystal Noodles, which were loaded with veggies and were also gluten free. My niece also ordered the "burger" and fries. The burger texture was off, and not up to par with the other items we had. Overall this is a great vegetarian/vegan option, especially for Fort Wayne. read more

I am giving them two stars because I have never had the chance to eat there. I try to live a vegan lifestyle and twice I have driven over to this restaurant during normal working hours only to find it closed. Each time they had a sign on the door stating that they were closed for this or that. One reason was because they went to a conference. Hands down the best place for vegan cuisine in Fort Wayne. They have an extensive menu that includes soups, salads, sandwiches, noodles, rice, as well as cake, and cookies. The prices are reasonable so you can eat your fill without putting a huge dent in your wallet or purse. You can dine in or call ahead for some takeout which I do pretty regularly. The only thing I wish is that they had a little more dining space but not too much to where it messes with the intimate setting that the current setup provides. So if you are in the area it is definitely a place for vegans and non vegans alike to enjoy some great food! read more

Traveled to this restaurant because of hearing good reviews. The atmosphere was terrible, it seemed like a run down restaurant that slapped some "go vegan" stickers on the walls. I ordered the panini with white chili soup. The soup was good, but the panini was terrible. A slice of bread smothered in veganaise and coleslaw, a few slices of Tofurky slices, and the other slice of bread covered in vegan butter. Sandwich was hardly a panini as it was barely toasted. My girlfriend ordered the cabbage soup and a black burger. The soup was terrible, and the sandwich was fine. However, a very small burger and no sides. We felt like we overpaid for these two sandwiches and two cups of soup ($20). The staff was very friendly. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

This place offers a wide variety and vegan and vegetarian food that made my husbands eyes bulge out and start to water. He couldn't stop turning around to tell me all the menu items he wanted to try. I'll have to admit I'm a carnivore at heart, but my husband could easily be vegetarian. Sadly for him, I'm the cook. Anywho, this place was great and reminded me of home (Cali). It's nice to see this place has found a home in FW and is offering cheap eats for those in the market for a vegetarian meal. I was shocked how inexpensive our meal was, and the portions were perfect. Very excited to have found this place! There are a ton of options, and the food is pretty good! I got spring rolls, potato kale soup, bbq nuggets, and a zucchini muffin. I didn't give a 5-star rating because: 1) my BBQ Nuggets had a small spiral piece of metal-looking thing in it! (I took it out and contined to eat... was very delicious otherwise!) and 2) the potato kale soup was curdled and tasted like a thicker, sweeter version of creamy chicken noodle soup... i think... dont know if i'd get it again. Also, the menu is very extensive but I dont think they make everything listed on the printed menu all the time- there was a pieced-together laminated menu on the wall with selections from the printed menu, and I found the prices to be a little higher than I expected. Quick update after a year: Good news: * The quinoa salad is a truly tasty treat that is unparalled in quinoa contests across the globe (or at least I envision this could be the case!) = 5 out of 5 stars! * Staff is super friendly = 5 out of 5 stars! * Interesting educational material on benefits of being meat free including environmental impact = 4 out of 5 stars! * Nice to see a local business thriving :) Not so good news: * I don't like anything other than the quinoa... or maybe the golden soup = 2 out of 5 stars * I've tried other stuff when I brought people there and we really didn't like the food - this is disappointing but I suppose personal taste based on the fact I do not like soft tofu or the lack of flavors as in the spring rolls and some other dishes * In general, I wish they would have more whole foods vs. the processed tofu as the more I learn about processed tofu, the less I realize I want to eat of it (unless it is my secret special reciped stolen from India where the tofu is marinated full of flavor and crispy!) = 1 out of 5 stars I digress, but all in all a bit of a downgrade and some encouragement to MAKE BIGGER BATCHES of QUINOA so you aren't sold out every time I come to order it! And, explore more WHOLE food and raw food/non processed vegetarian options....or you just end up reinventing a beast - maybe not a living one, but the processed junk is as bad for your gut (and often the environment when GMO soy is considered) as meat...okay, not AS bad, but you get the point.
