I had one of the most disappointing and disrespectful shopping experiences I've ever had at any Lowe's, or any store, period, on October 18, 2025, around 11:00 AM at the Carol Stream, IL Lowe's (Store #1821). I came in because of a clearly displayed Craftsman promotion hanging directly above the Craftsman tool section. The sign showed that if you buy a V20 4Ah Battery & Charger Starter Kit for $99, you get one select tool free. The promotion dates were printed right on the sign, valid from 10/16/2025 to 01/07/2026, so I knew the deal was active. An employee helped confirm the exact items, the V20 starter kit and the Craftsman router I chose as my free tool. Everything matched the sign perfectly. But when I went to check out, the battery kit rang up at $149.99 instead of $99. The cashier was polite and called for a manager named Lisa. From the moment Lisa walked over, her attitude was completely unprofessional. I calmly explained that there is an error with this item, and I was simply trying to buy the advertised $99 deal with the free select tool. Instead of listening, Lisa immediately said, "It can't be marked down as free," in a dismissive tone. I tried to clarify again, but she abruptly turned her back and walked away without another word to check the sign. I followed her to the display, where I pointed directly to the sign that clearly showed the $99 sale price and free tool offer. She responded with a condescending explanation that their "system doesn't give away free items" and "balances the price between them." I explained that I understood how bundled promotions work, and I just wanted the correct sale price honored, but she spoke to me in a rude, patronizing way, as if I couldn't understand English or was trying to cheat the system. The entire interaction was embarrassing and demeaning. Lisa's tone, body language, and attitude made it clear she had no interest in helping, and she treated me as though I wasn't worth her time. I asked if I could speak to another manager, and she flat-out said, "I'm the only manager here. Call corporate," then walked away again. I left the store and called Lowe's corporate customer service to file a complaint. They encouraged me to return inside to resolve the issue, but I told them Lisa had already instructed other employees to ignore me. Shockingly, the misleading sale sign was still hanging even after the issue was brought to her attention. I've spent a lot of money at this Lowe's over the years, but this experience left me feeling completely disrespected and unwelcome. I was calm, polite, and simply asking for the deal exactly as advertised, and was treated as if I was doing something wrong for reading their own sign correctly. If this is how the Carol Stream Lowe's trains its managers to treat paying customers, it's a real shame. Lisa should not be in a customer-facing role. Her attitude was unprofessional, rude, and discriminatory in tone. For anyone considering shopping here, please avoid this store. Go to another Lowe's or take your business to Home Depot, where customers are treated with basic respect and fairness. No one should ever be made to feel the way I was treated here. read more

Needed to return some faucets that were bought a while back but never installed. Since we didn't need them anymore, my wife decided to return them. She had the receipts, and there was a dedicated customer service/return line. Chris was the associate that helped her, and he did a good job. He made sure each box was legit and then easily put the charge back in the original form of payment. Lowes competes with Menards and Home Depot in this area, and it always seems to be the least busy. It is fully staffed, so easy to find help...but I always wonder how well they are doing. read more

I just tried to order 5 cedar planks to my house and get them delivered. I got an e-mail 5 hours later that 1 plank was being delivered and the other 4 were ready for pickup. I called the number to this lowes and got an AI robot. that was frustrating trying to get a human being on the phone. Once I did, she was rude and wouldn't help me. She told me there was nothing she could do to get the whole order delivered to me tomorrow, jut one plank. I cancelled the order. She said that is fine. My parents specifically drove more than 40 minutes to this store because the blinds salesperson, Doug Fischer, said they carry Hunter Douglas. They paid a measurement fee and had the windows measured. Then Doug says no we don't carry Hunter Douglass. He then stopped picking up the phone when they called to request a refund. Stay away. I have an issue with my windows that were installed sometime ago. Lowe's told me I needed to get back to them with the manufacturer name and some more information as it was an older order. I have called 4 × today to try to give them the information to get somebody out here to do some repairs. I can get no one in the millwork window department to return my call. I was advised on the first call that he would be in at 10 AM and return my call. It is now noon and no call called back. I tried to call again. The phone rings 3 or 4 times and in then disconnected. I called customer service. She tried paging the manager of that department and other managers. Nobody would even pick up her page. I told her now you know what I am experiencing. There is no customer service any longer in. I've been a loyal Lowes customer, but no longer!! read more

We went in to buy a drapery rod. Simple, right? When we got home, the mounting hardware wasn't in the box even though the box said "mounting hardware included". The box didn't look like it had been previously opened. The return was easy, and we bought another rod that looked just like it. Again, we brought it home, and there was no hardware included. This is where it gets frustrating. I took it back again, asked if they could open another box at the store and see if they had the hardware, which it did. I assumed the customer service rep would just give me the hardware, and at some point take the rest of the boxes off the shelves and contact the manufacturer. He said something about not being able to give me something from an open box, and they could give me the brackets but not the mounting screws? I think there might have been a language barrier with this employee. At this point I just took the brackets out of the box, told him it didn't make any sense, and left. (I knew we had screws at home.) What was supposed to be a few hours hanging a curtain rod actually took all day. We won't go back to Lowes again. read more

Worst customer service I've ever seen we are 590,000 strong and our union for a plumbing company. I am going to detour every single and last customer that I can to not shop at Lowe's. We ordered a blind where on vacation never received it and still will have to pay have sent multiple pictures of how many thefts we have in our area from the porches and no response from Lowe's. Only thing they are doing is destroying my credit. We were supposed to get multiple calls from corporate and never did only calls we get is for payments, we promised they refund with a replacement and never received. I bought a house a year and a half ago, and it's in need of a little TLC here and there. One of the first things done was to remove a large, decrepit shed, and in doing so had to remove most of the oddly-routed and unsafely protruding downspout. I knew it was probably way unnecessary to try and source this to a handyman, so headed to Lowe's to see about materials. Oddly the woman at Customer Service had to search what aisle downspouts were in, and I had to explain what a downspout was ("connects to the gutter to get water away from the house. It's long"). Because I'm a first-time owner, I'm ill equipped and uneducated. So, I was THRILLED when Eric M. asked me if I needed any help! I showed him some photos of the existing situation. He gave his recommendation about flexible downspout extensions in lieu of one that folds up (I didn't even know the latter existed). That was great info, since I can't have a tripping hazard either. He also helped me locate the necessary hardware, and explained what I had to do. He even made sure to mention basic safety info ("wear some gloves when you saw" [since I'll have to obviously shorten the downspout]). Eric M was VERY informative, helpful, and personable. I'm looking forward to my first basic DIY, and I'm a lot more confident due to Eric M.'s info and tips! read more

Went for paint and looking at price I picked middle quality. After mixing I point to the price and he said ..oh no that price of flat since u picked satin it 10 dollars more . Very misleading on that and when he took sample of paint after he got shaking it he opened can 1/2 way and bent the hell out of the lid. I asked if he had a new lid because it will be hard to get it back on now that it's bent in 3 places . His answer was no .. it already has paint on inside of lid. I have painted for years and had teenagers open it properly this guy was 50+ years old and gave a crap about the service he gave . Never will go back for paint there again. The employees have hidden deals with contractors, they did not want to sell me a door because one of the employees was offering it to a contractor whom he called on the phone because the door did not have the sold note but... the other morning I went back to the store and asked for the door again and they gave it to me but... again an employee came to say that it was already sold, which was a lie because the Lowes employee could not show his purchase receipt, and I think that is not correct in a store like this. read more

We already stopped counting how much money and time we spent while waiting for Lowes to do their job that we paid over $10.5k!!! Here is a timeframe of our roller coaster: 8.31.2023 - our first meeting with Mike Cable (corporate salesperson). We were planning to order five new Pella windows with Lowe's 9.13.2023 - got the email with the signed contract. 9.27.2023 - got the receipt by email. 10.31.2023 - windows arrived at the warehouse 11.10.2023 - window installation appointment scheduled on 11.29.2023 (email) 11.14.2023 - got install permit and instructions email 11.28.2023 - a call from the installer to reschedule installation from 11.29 to 11.30 due to personal reasons. 11.29.2023 - phone call from Install Partners LLC. He said that one of our windows came wrong and we have to call and re-order the new one. Called the same day, and asked to re-ordered the window. After a few calls we found out that Lowe's 'ordering department' made a mistake and ordered obscured glass for the master bedroom window instead of the clear one. ~12.28.23 received a call from Lowes saying that order has been placed (4 weeks later!!!) and we have to wait another 2 month for the manufacturer to make the new window. (why it took 4 weeks to reorder the window?????) 1.2.2024 - got emain with congratulations that my project is complete. No response 2.15.2024 - we called to Lowes install and asked to contact installer to schedule installation (we were told that installer will contact us in the next 24 hours) 2.16.2024 - we called to Lowes install at the end of the day to let them know that installer didn't call us (we were told that installer will contact in the next 24 hours) 2.20.2024 - a call from Installer saying that our windows at the warehouse but he needs extra hardware (trim coil) for installation. Told us that it should not take long 3.7.2024 - Lowes received extra hardware 3.7.2024 - called to Lowes schedule installation and to let the installer know that products are ready. We were told that installer will contact in the next 24 hours 3.9.2024 - call to Lowes to let them know - no response from the installer 3.12.2024 - call to Lowes to let them know - no response from the installer 3.12.2024 - came to Lowes store at Carol Ctream. Bob Miller promised to solve the problem. He gave us the phone number and asked to call there next day at 9 am. 3.13.2024 - we called by that phone number but no one respond. We were asked to call next day unless someone from Lowe's Installation or Installer call. 3.15.2024 - called to Lowes to tell them that no response from installer. Barbara said she will solve this problem. 3.15.2024 installer called and scheduled the installation on 3.22.24 3.15.2024 - got an email with installation info (set up on 22nd of March) 3.20.2024 - to be on the safe side, we called to our village to check if window inspection appointment was scheduled for our address on March 22nd. And it wasn't!!!!!!! We tried to do Lowe's job and schedule it by ourselves, because we had a permit from original installation date, dated November 24th, 2023 (effective for one year). But this permit was already canceled by someone from Lowes on Jan, 9th! Then we called to installer, and he told us that we need to call to Lowes Instalaltion Services, because its their responsibility to order permits and schedule inspections. Then we called to Lowes, and we were told that we need to call to installer to schedule our installation first. I was shocked!!! We told that its already scheduled in two days, and they said that they need to send the email to installer to confirm it! Now, how much it cost us while we were waiting our windows from Lowes: 1.Both of us took day off twice for installation days 2. We ordered the windows before winter, because we just bought the house that had old windows that were broken or drafty. 3. Our gas and electricity bill went up during the winter months dramatically 4. For 3 month our kids could not sleep in their rooms because it was really cold there and window insulation kits (that we had to buy separately!!!), couldnt keep up with the weather. 5. And of course, time, time, and time! We are just so tired and exhausted from 'fighting' with you, guys!!! The employees working at the appliance department at the Carol Stream IL location are horrible. They are racist, sexist, unprofessional and not helpful at all. they kept on messing up my appliances order from the get go and each time i went to the store to resolve the issue they were extremely rude and did not help at all. I asked to speak with the Management and they refuse to get the managers for me kept on telling me that they are not available. They delayed my appliance order by a WHOLE MONTH kept my money for over a month and then did not even deliver the appliance claiming that it is faulty and no longer carry the specific item i ordered and paid for. Then told me to pick another appliance that's not on sale and more expensive. When i asked for a refund they claimed that i need to go back home and call a customer service number and that it is not their responsibility to provide me proof of refund. The employees attitude is horrible towards you if you belong to a minority. They are only nice and helpful to white customers but if you are a minority they would not only refuse to help you also if they speak to you they speak in a racist and condescending tone. My wife bought a washing machine on June 18th, 2021, they told her free delivery for the 19th. It did not come so she went to Lowe's to find out where it is, so she was told it is on a truck. The first guy who sold her this was a bit rude and in a hurry. When she returned on Saturday the 19th Peter S. Helped resolve the issue, his demeanor was calm as he listened to my wife's problem for at least an hour. It's hard to find that kind of customer service these days. I also met Peter on June 20th when I went to pick up the other washing machine as I would be delivering it instead of risking delivery and not having for a few days. I was impressed by how he got things done and he also helped load it on to my truck instead of the guy who pushes the shopping carts. Will never shop at Lowes again after being treated so poorly. Purchased a clothes dryer and spent $824.00 which included $35.00 for it to be installed. When it was delivered I was told it couldn't be installed because because it couldn't be hook-up to the existing shut-off and that I would need to contact a plumber to do the install. The delivery person said to call the store to receive a refund of the $35.00. I called the store and asked for the $35.00 refund and they refused to give a refund because they said the $35.00 was for parts to do the install and that the install was free. That was not what I was told. I was told the install was $35.00. I talked to 3 people to request the refund and all 3 refused. This all over $35.00. I will never shop at Lowe's again. read more

I had my entire kitchen remodeled. I went with Lowe's for my kitchen cabinets and installation. The installation process was a nightmare. The installer was awful to work with. They would show up for 2 days and not come back for another week. He lied and tried to get more cash from us after we payed Lowe's in full for cabinets and installation. The worst part is that my cabinets are not installed correctly on one side. They made a huge mistake by not measuring while installing and crown molding and cabinets do not look correct. I have called Lowe's many times and I have sent pictures and no one has responded. We went with Lowe's installation because they guaranteed we would be taken care of and there is a warranty on the installation. My upright freezer just died. I heard appliances were hard to find!! No uprights available anywhere and delivery is weeks out. Lowe's had freezers at the time of posting this! I ordered on line and found one with delivery the next day. UNBELIEVABLE. I spent all day searching for a freezer. As soon as order was placed delivery was confirmed. This freezer was in stock so delivery was immediate. I received several text about delivery. At 8:00 AM I was called and delivery was on its way. Less than 24 hours. The delivery crew Reimando and Serigo were delightful, pleasant and professional. Gone in under 20 minutes. I bought on line last night after store was closed. I called the store today and was told they will not do free delivery over $75 purchase like Home Depot is doing during Covid19 pandemic. The on line Military discount is why I shopped here. No good business that they will not match Home Depot's willingness to limit exposures by doing free delivery on $75 or more items. My wife and daughter are immuno-compromised so we are shopping on line to be safe. I spend close to $300 on a grill that is on sale, and now have to wait who knows how long to go get it. It is a great product and I saved over $90 between the sale and military discount, this is why I bought it at Lowe's. Lowes did a Kitchen install they used Tec Construction as their contractor. When my cabinets were delivered they quickly installed them and then that is where it all went downhill. The crew closed out the job order despite there being trim work and appliance hook up that needed to be done. Getting the crew back was like begging for them to come do the work obviously because they had been already paid for a job that was not complete. TheY finally came back two weeks ago to put up the cabinet trim, they did not cover my NEW appliances or counters. I covered the counters with towels to protect them. Of course in the process they scratched my new refrigerator while putting up the top trim. When I brought it up to the contractor I was told his crew did not do it. Well, YES THEY DID, never covered my appliances. Now Lowes is not doing ANYTHING to fix the issue their contractor created. THINK TWICE ABOUT USING LOWES FOR ANY INSTALL. I ordered my dad's Christmas gift for pick-up in the store. I should have known it would have a terrible experience from the start when they sent contradictory emails at the same time. One email stated that my order was ready for pick-up while the other email stated that my order was delayed. Fortunately, it turned out that the former was true. When I entered the store, I liked that the pick-up area was immediately to my right and not all the way in the back of the store (I'm looking at you, Walmart). There were a few people ahead of me, but it was maybe a 5-minute wait before it was my turn. I provided my order number, and the employee entered it into the system, printed out a receipt to sign, and gave me a copy. She mentioned that they had to get it from the electronics cage and proceeded to leave the area. Meanwhile, I sat on the nearby bench preoccupying myself with reading the news on my phone. 5 minutes roll by...nothing. 10 minutes...nothing. 15 minutes...nothing. Is there some sort of Sherlock Holmes puzzle to solve to unlock this cage? When I went to the counter again to inquire about the status, another employee took my receipt to look up my order. Then, he proceeded to grab my order that was sitting behind the counter this whole time! I wonder how long they would have let me sit there if I never went up to the counter. I'm guessing probably until they close the store. You can also tell the employees were a bit defeated by the Black Friday rush because there was no energy coming from them. When I was sitting there waiting, I managed to catch a glance at a sign on the wall that stated to reach out to the pictured manager to talk about your Lowe's experience...and the picture and name were missing. I was seeking some flexible 1.5" PVC (EZ-FLO, Item #814331Model #98597). Their website said the item was in stock. Called the store to make sure. Took nearly 15 minutes to actually speak with a person in plumbing. This person sounded totally disinterested in helping me, was difficult to understand because of a very heavy accent and quickly said they do not have this item and hung up. just now My family worked with Jim in the plumbing department at this this Lowe's several times. We tried multiple Menards and Home Depots, but no one was willing to help us. Jim took at least an hour and a half with us the first time we entered the store. He helped us plan every detail for our custom Onyx Collection shower. At our second visit, he also helped us order additional supplies for our bathroom remodel including and toilet, faucet, shower kit, custom vanity top, and vanity cabinet. We are so thrilled to have actually found someone willing to provide excellent customer service. Honestly, we will coming to Lowe's more often because of this experience. I paid for a new fridge with delivery and installation. During delivery, I received a call from the deliverer/installer who told me that he refuses to install the fridge because the wooden frame was a tight fit. I personally removed and re-seated my old fridge (same dimensions as the new fridge). I told him he simply had to be careful and work slowly, but it will install fine. The installer got extremely rude over the phone and told me "If I damage the fridge, its on me. You can install it yourself, then the damage is on you." He told me that I could call the store if i had a problem with his decision, but he was leaving the fridge uninstalled and that was that. I called Lowe's. The general operator told me that they don't do installations. I replied that I organized the installation through Lowe's so that makes no sense unless she means it was a contracted 3rd party. The operator said she would transfer me to someone who could help further, but then the phone hung up. I tried to call back but the call disconnected before i could reach the operator. I guess i get to learn how to install a fridge today. This was an absolute cop out and complete professional negligence. read more
